于神前勿造次多言
5 你到神的殿要谨慎脚步，因为近前听胜过愚昧人献祭[a]，他们本不知道所做的是恶。 2 你在神面前不可冒失开口，也不可心急发言。因为神在天上，你在地下，所以你的言语要寡少。 3 事务多就令人做梦，言语多就显出愚昧。 4 你向神许愿，偿还不可迟延，因他不喜悦愚昧人。所以你许的愿应当偿还， 5 你许愿不还，不如不许。 6 不可任你的口使肉体犯罪，也不可在祭司[b]面前说是错许了。为何使神因你的声音发怒，败坏你手所做的呢？ 7 多梦和多言，其中多有虚幻，你只要敬畏神。
金银难餍人心货财亦无所益
8 你若在一省之中见穷人受欺压，并夺去公义、公平的事，不要因此诧异。因有一位高过居高位的鉴察，在他们以上还有更高的。 9 况且地的益处归众人，就是君王也受田地的供应。
10 贪爱银子的不因得银子知足，贪爱丰富的也不因得利益知足。这也是虚空。 11 货物增添，吃的人也增添，物主得什么益处呢？不过眼看而已。 12 劳碌的人不拘吃多吃少，睡得香甜；富足人的丰满，却不容他睡觉。
13 我见日光之下有一宗大祸患，就是财主积存资财，反害自己。 14 因遭遇祸患，这些资财就消灭，那人若生了儿子，手里也一无所有。 15 他怎样从母胎赤身而来，也必照样赤身而去，他所劳碌得来的，手中分毫不能带去。 16 他来的情形怎样，他去的情形也怎样，这也是一宗大祸患。他为风劳碌，有什么益处呢？ 17 并且他终身在黑暗中吃喝，多有烦恼，又有病患呕气。
18 我所见为善为美的，就是人在神赐他一生的日子吃喝，享受日光之下劳碌得来的好处，因为这是他的份。 19 神赐人资财丰富，使他能以吃用，能取自己的份，在他劳碌中喜乐，这乃是神的恩赐。 20 他不多思念自己一生的年日，因为神应他的心使他喜乐。

Fulfill Your Vow to God
5 [a]Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong.
2 Do not be quick with your mouth,
do not be hasty in your heart
to utter anything before God.(A)
God is in heaven
and you are on earth,
so let your words be few.(B)
3 A dream(C) comes when there are many cares,
and many words mark the speech of a fool.(D)
4 When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it.(E) He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow.(F) 5 It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it.(G) 6 Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, “My vow was a mistake.” Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands? 7 Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore fear God.(H)
Riches Are Meaningless
8 If you see the poor oppressed(I) in a district, and justice and rights denied, do not be surprised at such things; for one official is eyed by a higher one, and over them both are others higher still. 9 The increase from the land is taken by all; the king himself profits from the fields.
10 Whoever loves money never has enough;
whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.
This too is meaningless.
11 As goods increase,
so do those who consume them.
And what benefit are they to the owners
except to feast their eyes on them?
12 The sleep of a laborer is sweet,
whether they eat little or much,
but as for the rich, their abundance
permits them no sleep.(J)
13 I have seen a grievous evil under the sun:(K)
wealth hoarded to the harm of its owners,
14 or wealth lost through some misfortune,
so that when they have children
there is nothing left for them to inherit.
15 Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb,
and as everyone comes, so they depart.(L)
They take nothing from their toil(M)
that they can carry in their hands.(N)
16 This too is a grievous evil:
As everyone comes, so they depart,
and what do they gain,
since they toil for the wind?(O)
17 All their days they eat in darkness,
with great frustration, affliction and anger.
18 This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink(P) and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor(Q) under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot. 19 Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions,(R) and the ability to enjoy them,(S) to accept their lot(T) and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.(U) 20 They seldom reflect on the days of their life, because God keeps them occupied with gladness of heart.(V)

경솔한 약속을 하지 말아라
5 하나님의 집에 들어갈 때 조심하라. 가까이 가서 말씀을 듣는 것이 자기 잘못 을 알지 못하는 어리석은 자가 제사를 드리는 것보다 낫다.
2 너는 함부로 입을 열지 말고 하나님께 경솔한 약속을 하지 말아라. 그는 하늘에 계시고 너는 땅에 있으니 될 수 있는 대로 말을 적게 하여라.
3 걱정이 많으면 꿈이 생기고 말이 많으면 바보 같은 소리가 나오는 법이다.
4 하나님께 약속한 것이 있으면 그 약속을 이행하는 데 지체하지 말아라. 하나님은 어리석은 자를 기뻐하지 않으신다. 네가 약속한 것을 속히 이행하라.
5 약속을 하고 이행하지 않는 것보다는 차라리 약속을 하지 않는 것이 더 낫다.
6 너는 입으로 범죄하지 말아라. 너는 하나님의 사자 앞에서 네 약속이 잘못된 것이라고 말하지 말아라. 하나님을 노하시게 하여 네가 한 일을 망쳐 놓을 이유가 무엇이냐?
7 꿈이 많든 말이 많든 다 헛된 것이다. 그러므로 너는 하나님을 두려워하라.
부귀도 헛된 것이다
8 가난한 사람이 학대받는 것과 정의가 무시당하는 것을 보아도 너는 놀라지 말아라. 모든 관리는 자기보다 더 높은 사람의 감시를 받고 있다.
9 모든 사람이 농산물의 혜택을 받고 있으며 왕도 밭에서 나는 것을 먹고 산다.
10 돈을 사랑하는 자가 그 돈으로 만족을 얻지 못하고 부유하기를 바라는 자가 그 수입으로 만족을 얻지 못하니 이것도 헛된 것이다.
11 재산이 늘면 그만큼 소비도 많아진다. 그 소유주의 눈을 즐겁게 하는 것 외에 무슨 유익이 있겠느냐?
12 노동자는 먹을 것이 많든 적든 단잠을 잘 수 있으나 부자는 재산이 많으므로 이것저것 걱정하다가 잠을 자지 못한다.
13-14 나는 또 하나의 다른 심각한 문제를 보았다. 사람들은 억척스럽게 돈을 모으고서도 그 돈으로 위험한 투기를 하여 일이 잘못되면 하루 아침에 재산을 다 날려 버린다. 그는 아들이 있어도 물려 줄 것이 아무것도 없다.
15 사람은 태어날 때 벌거숭이로 나왔으니 아무리 수고하여 얻은 것이라 할지라도 이 세상을 떠날 때에는 아무것도 가져가지 못할 것이다.
16 이 어찌 슬픈 일이 아니겠는가! 사람은 온 그대로 떠날 수밖에 없으니 바람을 잡으려는 것 같은 수고가 무슨 유익이 있겠는가?
17 우리는 어두움과 슬픔과 번민과 분노와 질병 가운데서 평생을 살아갈 수밖에 없다.
18 나는 하나님이 주신 짧은 일생을 사는 동안 먹고 마시며 자기 일에 만족을 느끼는 것이 제일 좋은 일이며 이것이 인간의 운명임을 알았다.
19 만일 하나님이 어떤 사람에게 부와 재물을 주셔서 그것을 누리게 하시며 복을 받아 자기가 수고한 것을 즐길 수 있게 하시면 그것은 하나님의 선물이다.
20 하나님이 그의 마음에 기쁨을 채워 주셨으므로 그는 인생이 짧다는 것을 그리 심각하게 생각하지 않아도 된다.
