神規劃萬事叫人敬畏他
3 萬事都有定期，天下萬務都有定時：
2 生有時，死有時；
栽種有時，拔出所種的也有時；
3 殺戮有時，醫治有時；
拆毀有時，建造有時；
4 哭有時，笑有時；
哀慟有時，踴躍有時；
5 拋擲石頭有時，堆聚石頭有時；
擁抱有時，避免擁抱有時；
6 尋找有時，捨棄有時；
保存有時，拋棄有時；
7 撕裂有時，縫補有時；
靜默有時，講話有時；
8 愛有時，恨有時；
戰爭有時，和平有時。
9 作工的人在自己的勞碌上得到甚麼益處呢？ 10 我看 神給予世人的擔子，是要他們為此煩惱。 11 他使萬事各按其時，成為美好；他又把永恆的意識放在人的心裡；雖然這樣，人還是不能察覺 神自始至終的作為。 12 我曉得人生最好是尋樂享福， 13 人人有吃有喝，在自己的一切勞碌中自得其樂；這就是 神的恩賜。 14 我知道 神所作的一切，都必永存，無可增添，無可減少； 神這樣作，為要使人在他面前存敬畏的心。 15 現在有的，先前就有；將來有的，早已有了；因為 神使已過的事重新出現（“使已過的事重新出現”直譯是“尋找被追趕的”）。
神的審判都有定時
16 我在日光之下又看見：審判的地方有奸惡，維護公義的地方也有奸惡。 17 我自己心裡說：“ 神必審判義人和惡人，因為各樣事務、各樣工作都有定時。” 18 我自己心裡說：“至於世人， 神要試驗他們，使他們看見自己與牲畜無異。 19 因為世人所遭遇的與牲畜所遭遇的，都是一樣：這個怎樣死，那個也怎樣死，兩者的氣息都是一樣，所以人並不勝於牲畜。一切都是虛空。 20 大家都到一個地方去，都出於塵土，也都歸回塵土。 21 有誰知道人的靈是往上升，牲畜的魂（“魂”的原文與“靈”〔3:21〕和“氣息”〔3:19〕相同）是下降而入地呢？” 22 因此我看人最好是在自己所作的事上自得其樂，因為這也是他的分；誰能使他看見他自己死後的事呢？

3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

3 ¶ Para todas las cosas hay sazón, y toda voluntad debajo del cielo, tiene su tiempo determinado:
2 Tiempo de nacer, y tiempo de morir; tiempo de plantar, y tiempo de arrancar lo plantado;
3 tiempo de matar, y tiempo de curar; tiempo de destruir, y tiempo de edificar;
4 tiempo de llorar, y tiempo de reír; tiempo de endechar, y tiempo de bailar;
5 tiempo de esparcir las piedras, y tiempo de juntar las piedras; tiempo de abrazar, y tiempo de alejarse de abrazar;
6 tiempo de buscar, y tiempo de perder; tiempo de guardar, y tiempo de desechar;
7 tiempo de romper, y tiempo de coser; tiempo de callar, y tiempo de hablar;
8 tiempo de amar, y tiempo de aborrecer; tiempo de guerra, y tiempo de paz.
9 ¿Qué provecho tiene el que trabaja en lo que trabaja?
10 Yo he visto la ocupación que Dios ha dado a los hijos de los hombres para que en ella se ocuparan.
11 ¶ Todo lo hizo hermoso en su tiempo; y aun el mundo les entregó a su voluntad, de tal manera que no alcance el hombre esta obra de Dios desde el principio hasta el fin.
12 Yo he conocido que no hay mejor para ellos, que alegrarse, y hacer bien en su vida.
13 Y también he conocido que es don de Dios que todo hombre coma y beba, y goce el bien de todo su trabajo.
14 He entendido que todo lo que Dios hace, esto será perpetuo; sobre aquello no se añadirá, ni de ello se disminuirá; porque Dios lo hace, para que delante de él teman los hombres.
15 Aquello que fue, ya es; y lo que será, fue ya; y Dios buscará lo que pasó.
16 ¶ Vi más debajo del sol: en lugar del juicio, allí la impiedad; y en lugar de la justicia, allí la iniquidad.
17 Y dije yo en mi corazón: Al justo y al impío juzgará Dios; porque hay un tiempo determinado de juzgar a toda voluntad y sobre todo lo que se hace.
18 Dije en mi corazón, en orden a la condición de los hijos de los hombres, que Dios los puede manifestar, y es para ver que ellos son bestias los unos a los otros.
19 Porque el suceso de los hijos de los hombres, y el suceso del animal, el mismo suceso es: como mueren los unos, así mueren los otros; y una misma respiración tienen todos; ni tiene más el hombre que la bestia; porque todo es vanidad.
20 Todo va a un lugar; todo es hecho del polvo, y todo volverá al mismo polvo.
21 ¿Quién sabe que el espíritu de los hijos de los hombres suba arriba, y que el espíritu del animal descienda debajo de la tierra?
22 Así que he visto que no hay cosa mejor que alegrarse el hombre con lo que hiciere; porque ésta es su parte; porque ¿quién lo llevará para que vea lo que será después de él?
