11 当慷慨施舍[a]，
因为日后必有收获。
2 当把你的资财分给多人，
因为你不知道日后会有什么灾难临到世上。
3 云中满了水，就会下雨。
树不论倒向南或倒向北，
倒在哪里就躺在哪里。
4 你若等待完美的天气，
必无法撒种，无法收割。
5 正如你不知道风的路线，不知道骨骼在母胎中如何形成，你也无法了解创造万物之上帝的作为。 6 你要早晚不停地撒种，因为你不知道什么时候撒的种子会发芽生长，或许所撒的都会带来收获。 7 光真美好，能够看见阳光真好！ 8 人一生不论活多久，都要活得快乐，但不要忘记死后有许多黑暗的日子。将来的一切都是虚空。 9 年轻人啊，在年轻时要快乐，要在青春岁月里使自己的心欢畅。心里想做什么就去做，眼睛想看什么就去看。然而，要切记：上帝必照你所行的一切审判你。 10 所以，你要抛开心中的烦恼和肉体的痛苦，因为青春年华转瞬即逝。

The Value of Diligence
11 Cast your bread (A)upon the waters,
(B)For you will find it after many days.
2 (C)Give a serving (D)to seven, and also to eight,
(E)For you do not know what evil will be on the earth.
3 If the clouds are full of rain,
They empty themselves upon the earth;
And if a tree falls to the south or the north,
In the place where the tree falls, there it shall lie.
4 He who observes the wind will not sow,
And he who regards the clouds will not reap.
5 As (F)you do not know what is the way of the [a]wind,
(G)Or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child,
So you do not know the works of God who makes everything.
6 In the morning sow your seed,
And in the evening do not withhold your hand;
For you do not know which will prosper,
Either this or that,
Or whether both alike will be good.
7 Truly the light is sweet,
And it is pleasant for the eyes (H)to behold the sun;
8 But if a man lives many years
And (I)rejoices in them all,
Yet let him (J)remember the days of darkness,
For they will be many.
All that is coming is vanity.
Seek God in Early Life
9 Rejoice, O young man, in your youth,
And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth;
(K)Walk in the [b]ways of your heart,
And [c]in the sight of your eyes;
But know that for all these
(L)God will bring you into judgment.
10 Therefore remove [d]sorrow from your heart,
And (M)put away evil from your flesh,
(N)For childhood and [e]youth are vanity.

căci nu ştii ce rău va veni pe pământ.
3 Când norii sunt plini de apă,
atunci o deşartă pe pământ;
când un copac cade la sud sau la nord,
în locul în care cade, acolo rămâne.
4 Cine se uită după vânt nu mai seamănă,
iar cine se uită după nori nu mai seceră.
5 Aşa cum nu ştii calea vântului
şi nici cum se formează oasele[b] în pântecele femeii însărcinate,
tot astfel nu cunoşti nici lucrarea lui Dumnezeu,
Cel Care le face pe toate.
6 Seamănă sămânţă dimineaţa,
iar seara nu-ţi odihni mâna de la semănat,
fiindcă nu ştii care sămânţă va răsări,
aceasta sau cealaltă,
sau dacă amândouă vor fi la fel de bune.
Adu-ţi aminte de Creatorul tău în tinereţe
7 Lumina este plăcută
şi este bine pentru ochi să vadă soarele.
8 Dacă cineva are parte de mulţi ani,
să se bucure de ei,
dar să se gândească şi la zilele de întuneric,
căci vor fi multe,
pentru că tot ce urmează să vină este deşertăciune.
9 Bucură-te, tinere, în tinereţea ta,
veseleşte-ţi inima cât eşti tânăr!
Umblă pe căile dorite de inima ta
şi plăcute ochilor tăi,
dar să ştii că pentru toate acestea
te va chema Dumnezeu la judecată!
10 Izgoneşte orice supărare din inima ta,
alungă răul din trupul tău,
căci tinereţea şi zorile vieţii sunt trecătoare[c]!“
