　神審判萬民

66 耶和華這樣說：

“天是我的寶座，

地是我的腳凳；

你們要在哪裡為我建造殿宇呢？

怎樣的地方才是我安息的所在呢？”

²耶和華說：“這一切都是我親手所造的，所以它們就有了。

以下這種人是我要垂顧的，

就是謙卑、心靈傷痛、因我的話而戰兢的人。

³宰牛獻祭，又殺人，

獻羊羔為祭，又打折狗的頸項；

獻上素祭，又獻上豬血；

燒乳香作記念祭，又稱頌虛無之神；

他們選擇他們自己的道路，

他們的心裡喜悅他們那些可憎惡的事。

⁴所以，我也必選擇迷惑他們的事，

使他們所懼怕的臨到他們身上；

因為我呼喚你們，卻沒有人回答；

我說話，你們都不聽，

反倒行我眼中看為惡的事，

選擇我所不喜悅的事。”

⁵因耶和華的話而戰兢的人哪！

你們要聽他的話。他說：

“你們的兄弟，就是那些憎恨你們、

因我的名趕走你們的，

曾說：‘願耶和華得榮耀；讓我們看見你們的喜樂。’

他們卻要蒙羞。

⁶聽啊！有喧嚷的聲音出自城中；

有聲音出於殿裡。

這是耶和華向他的仇敵施行報應的聲音！

⁷錫安沒有絞痛就生產；

疼痛沒有臨到她身上，就生了一個男孩。

⁸像以下這樣的事，誰曾聽過呢？

像下面這些事，誰曾見過呢？

一地之民能在一天之內就產生嗎？

一國的人能在一時之間就生下來嗎？

但錫安一絞痛，就生下了兒女。

⁹耶和華說：‘我既然使她臨盆，又怎能不使她生產呢？’

你的　神說：‘我既然使她生產，又怎能使她閉胎不生呢？’

¹⁰所有愛慕耶路撒冷的人哪！你們都要與她一同歡喜，都要因她快樂；

所有為耶路撒冷哀悼的人哪！你們都要與她一同盡情歡樂。

¹¹好使你們能在她那安慰人的懷裡吃奶得飽；

使你們能從她豐盛的榮耀裡擠奶而吃，滿心喜樂。”

¹²因為耶和華這樣說：“看哪！我必使平安達到她那裡，好像江河一樣，

使列國的財寶達到她那裡，如同漲溢的河流一般；

你們要吮奶，你們必被抱在懷中，撫弄在膝上。

¹³人怎樣受他母親的安慰，我也怎樣安慰你們；

你們要在耶路撒冷得安慰。”

¹⁴你們看見了，就心裡快樂，

你們的骨頭必像嫩草一樣長起來，

耶和華的手必向他的僕人顯現，

他必向他的仇敵發怒。

¹⁵看哪！耶和華必在火中降臨，

他的戰車好像旋風；

他要以猛烈的怒氣施行報應，

用火燄施行斥責。

¹⁶因為耶和華必用火和刀劍，

在所有的人身上施行審判，

被耶和華所殺的人必定很多。

¹⁷那些自己分別為聖，又潔淨自己，進到園裡，在園中一個跟一個，吃豬肉、老鼠和可憎之物。他們都必一同滅亡；這是耶和華說的。 ¹⁸我知道他們的行為和意念；我要來，聚集萬國萬族；他們都必來看我的榮耀。 ¹⁹我要在他們中間施行神蹟，從他們中間差遣所有逃脫的人到列國去，就是到他施、普勒、善於拉弓的路德、土巴和雅完，以及從未聽過我的名聲、從未見過我的榮耀的遙遠眾海島；他們必把我的榮耀傳揚在列國中。 ²⁰他們要從萬國中用馬、用車、用轎、用騾子、用獨峰駝，把你們所有的兄弟都送到我的聖山耶路撒冷來，作供物獻給耶和華，好像以色列人用潔淨的器皿把供物送到耶和華的殿一樣；這是耶和華說的。 ²¹耶和華說：“我也必從他們中間取些人作祭司和作利未人。” ²²耶和華說：“我所要造的新天新地怎樣在我面前留存，你們的後裔和你們的名字也必怎樣長存。 ²³將來每逢月朔，每逢安息日，所有的人都必來在我面前敬拜；這是耶和華說的。 ²⁴他們要出去，觀看那些悖逆我的人的屍體；因為他們的蟲是不死的，他們的火是不滅的；他們必成為所有人恨惡的東西。”

66 This is what the Lord says.
The heavens are my throne,
and the earth is a footstool under my feet.
Where, then, is the house that you could build for me?
Where, then, is a place that could serve as my resting place?
²For my hand made all these things,
so all these things came into existence,
declares the Lord.

Those Who Tremble at the Lord’s Word

Yet this is the person I will watch over:
the one who is afflicted and whose spirit is crushed,
the one who trembles at my word.

³One who slaughters an ox, also smites a person.
One who sacrifices a lamb, also breaks the neck of a dog.
One who offers a grain offering, also offers the blood of pigs.
One who offers memorial incense, also blesses a useless idol.
Yes, they have chosen their own ways,
and their soul delights in their detestable things.
⁴So I myself will choose their punishments,
and the things that terrify them I will bring to them,
because I called, and there was no one who answered.
I spoke, and they did not listen.
They did what is evil in my eyes,
and they chose things that do not please me.

⁵Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word.
Your brothers, who hate you
and exclude you for the sake of my name, say:
“Let the Lord be glorified so that we may see your joy.”
But they themselves will be put to shame.

⁶Listen! An uproar in the city,
the sound of an uproar from the temple,
the sound of the Lord repaying his enemies in full!

Lady Zion’s Final Blessing

⁷Before she suffers labor pains, she gives birth.
Before birth pain comes upon her, she delivers a male child.
⁸Who has ever heard of something like this?
Who has ever seen such a thing?
Is a land brought forth in one day?
Is a nation born all at once?
But as soon as Zion experiences labor pains, she gives birth
    to her children.
⁹Would I bring a baby to the point of birth and not let it be born?
says the Lord.
Or would I let a baby be conceived but shut the womb to prevent
    its birth?
says your God.
¹⁰Rejoice with Jerusalem and celebrate with her, all you who love her.
Share her joy with her, all you who have been mourning over her,
¹¹so that you may nurse and be satisfied from her comforting breast,
so that you may suck and find delight from her milk-filled breasts.^[a]
¹²Yes, this is what the Lord says.
I am ready to extend peace to her like a river,
and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream.
You will be nursed. You will be carried on her side,
and you will be bounced on her knees.
¹³Just like a man^[b] whom his mother comforts,
in the same way I myself will comfort you,
and you will be comforted concerning Jerusalem.
¹⁴Then you will see, and your heart will be glad.
Like grass you will receive new strength, right down to your bones.
Then the Lord’s hand will be known to his servants,
but his fury to his enemies.
¹⁵Look, the Lord will come like fire,
and his chariots like a whirlwind,
to pour out his furious anger
and his rebuke like flames of fire.
¹⁶For the Lord will bring judgment on all flesh
    by fire and by his sword,
and those slain by the Lord will be many.
¹⁷Those who try to sanctify themselves
and those who try to purify themselves
    in order to follow others into the groves,
    in order to eat the meat of pigs and other disgusting things like mice—
together they will be swept away, declares the Lord.
¹⁸As for me, because of their works and their thoughts,
the time is coming for me to gather people from all nations
    and all languages.
They will come, and they will see my glory.

¹⁹Then I will set up a sign among them,
and I will send out survivors from among them to the nations,
to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud,^[c] to those who are archers,
to Tubal and Javan,^[d] to the distant coastlands,
who have not heard my message and have not seen my glory.
Then they will declare my glory among the nations.

²⁰Then they will bring all your brothers from all the nations as an offering to the Lord. They will bring them on horses and chariots and wagons and mules and dromedaries^[e] to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says the Lord, in the same way that the people of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel to the Lord’s house. ²¹Even from among these people I will take priests and Levites, says the Lord.

²²For just as the new heavens and the new earth that I am making will remain standing before me, declares the Lord, in the same way your offspring and your name will stand. ²³As often as one new moon follows another and one Sabbath follows another, all flesh will come to worship before me, says the Lord.

²⁴They will go out, and they will see the corpses of the ones who were rebelling against me, for their worm will not die, and their fire will not be quenched, and all flesh will be horrified by them.

Judgment and Hope

66 This is what the Lord says:

“Heaven is my throne,^(A)
    and the earth is my footstool.^(B)
Where is the house^(C) you will build for me?
    Where will my resting place be?
²Has not my hand made all these things,^(D)
    and so they came into being?”
declares the Lord.

“These are the ones I look on with favor:
    those who are humble and contrite in spirit,^(E)
    and who tremble at my word.^(F)
³But whoever sacrifices a bull^(G)
    is like one who kills a person,
and whoever offers a lamb
    is like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
whoever makes a grain offering
    is like one who presents pig’s^(H) blood,
and whoever burns memorial incense^(I)
    is like one who worships an idol.
They have chosen their own ways,^(J)
    and they delight in their abominations;^(K)
⁴so I also will choose harsh treatment for them
    and will bring on them what they dread.^(L)
For when I called, no one answered,^(M)
    when I spoke, no one listened.
They did evil^(N) in my sight
    and chose what displeases me.”^(O)

⁵Hear the word of the Lord,
    you who tremble at his word:^(P)
“Your own people who hate^(Q) you,
    and exclude you because of my name, have said,
‘Let the Lord be glorified,
    that we may see your joy!’
    Yet they will be put to shame.^(R)
⁶Hear that uproar from the city,
    hear that noise from the temple!
It is the sound^(S) of the Lord
    repaying^(T) his enemies all they deserve.

⁷“Before she goes into labor,^(U)
    she gives birth;
before the pains come upon her,
    she delivers a son.^(V)
⁸Who has ever heard of such things?
    Who has ever seen^(W) things like this?
Can a country be born in a day^(X)
    or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
Yet no sooner is Zion in labor
    than she gives birth to her children.^(Y)
⁹Do I bring to the moment of birth^(Z)
    and not give delivery?” says the Lord.
“Do I close up the womb
    when I bring to delivery?” says your God.
¹⁰“Rejoice^(AA) with Jerusalem and be glad for her,
    all you who love^(AB) her;
rejoice greatly with her,
    all you who mourn^(AC) over her.
¹¹For you will nurse^(AD) and be satisfied
    at her comforting breasts;^(AE)
you will drink deeply
    and delight in her overflowing abundance.”^(AF)

¹²For this is what the Lord says:

“I will extend peace^(AG) to her like a river,^(AH)
    and the wealth^(AI) of nations like a flooding stream;
you will nurse and be carried^(AJ) on her arm
    and dandled on her knees.
¹³As a mother comforts her child,^(AK)
    so will I comfort^(AL) you;
    and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”

¹⁴When you see this, your heart will rejoice^(AM)
    and you will flourish^(AN) like grass;
the hand^(AO) of the Lord will be made known to his servants,^(AP)
    but his fury^(AQ) will be shown to his foes.
¹⁵See, the Lord is coming with fire,^(AR)
    and his chariots^(AS) are like a whirlwind;^(AT)
he will bring down his anger with fury,
    and his rebuke^(AU) with flames of fire.
¹⁶For with fire^(AV) and with his sword^(AW)
    the Lord will execute judgment^(AX) on all people,
    and many will be those slain^(AY) by the Lord.

¹⁷“Those who consecrate and purify themselves to go into the gardens,^(AZ) following one who is among those who eat the flesh of pigs,^(BA) rats^(BB) and other unclean things—they will meet their end^(BC) together with the one they follow,” declares the Lord.

¹⁸“And I, because of what they have planned and done,^(BD) am about to come^[a] and gather the people of all nations^(BE) and languages, and they will come and see my glory.^(BF)

¹⁹“I will set a sign^(BG) among them, and I will send some of those who survive^(BH) to the nations—to Tarshish,^(BI) to the Libyans^[b] and Lydians^(BJ) (famous as archers), to Tubal^(BK) and Greece,^(BL) and to the distant islands^(BM) that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory.^(BN) They will proclaim my glory among the nations. ²⁰And they will bring^(BO) all your people, from all the nations, to my holy mountain^(BP) in Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord—on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels,”^(BQ) says the Lord. “They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings, to the temple of the Lord in ceremonially clean vessels.^(BR) ²¹And I will select some of them also to be priests^(BS) and Levites,” says the Lord.

²²“As the new heavens and the new earth^(BT) that I make will endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will your name and descendants endure.^(BU) ²³From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath^(BV) to another, all mankind will come and bow down^(BW) before me,” says the Lord. ²⁴“And they will go out and look on the dead bodies^(BX) of those who rebelled^(BY) against me; the worms^(BZ) that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched,^(CA) and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”

66 Thus says the Lord:

^(A)“Heaven is My throne,
And earth is My footstool.
Where is the house that you will build Me?
And where is the place of My rest?
²For all those things My hand has made,
And all those things exist,”
Says the Lord.
^(B)“But on this one will I look:
^(C)On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit,
And who trembles at My word.

³“He^(D) who kills a bull is as if he slays a man;
He who sacrifices a lamb, as if he ^(E)breaks a dog’s neck;
He who offers a grain offering, as if he offers swine’s blood;
He who burns incense, as if he blesses an idol.
Just as they have chosen their own ways,
And their soul delights in their abominations,
⁴So will I choose their delusions,
And bring their fears on them;
^(F)Because, when I called, no one answered,
When I spoke they did not hear;
But they did evil before My eyes,
And chose that in which I do not delight.”

The Lord Vindicates Zion

⁵Hear the word of the Lord,
You who tremble at His word:
“Your brethren who ^(G)hated you,
Who cast you out for My name’s sake, said,
^(H)‘Let the Lord be glorified,
That ^(I)we may see your joy.’
But they shall be ashamed.”

⁶The sound of noise from the city!
A voice from the temple!
The voice of the Lord,
Who fully repays His enemies!

⁷“Before she was in labor, she gave birth;
Before her pain came,
She delivered a male child.
⁸Who has heard such a thing?
Who has seen such things?
Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day?
Or shall a nation be born at once?
For as soon as Zion was in labor,
She gave birth to her children.
⁹Shall I bring to the time of birth, and not cause delivery?” says the Lord.
“Shall I who cause delivery shut up the womb?” says your God.
¹⁰“Rejoice with Jerusalem,
And be glad with her, all you who love her;
Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn for her;
¹¹That you may feed and be satisfied
With the consolation of her bosom,
That you may drink deeply and be delighted
With the abundance of her glory.”

¹²For thus says the Lord:

“Behold, ^(J)I will extend peace to her like a river,
And the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream.

On her sides shall you be ^(L)carried,
And be dandled on her knees.
¹³As one whom his mother comforts,

And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”

The Reign and Indignation of God

¹⁴When you see this, your heart shall rejoice,
And ^(N)your bones shall flourish like grass;
The hand of the Lord shall be known to His servants,
And His indignation to His enemies.
¹⁵^(O)For behold, the Lord will come with fire
And with His chariots, like a whirlwind,
To render His anger with fury,
And His rebuke with flames of fire.
¹⁶For by fire and by ^(P)His sword
The Lord will judge all flesh;
And the slain of the Lord shall be ^(Q)many.

¹⁷“Those^(R) who sanctify themselves and purify themselves,
To go to the gardens
^[a]After an idol in the midst,
Eating swine’s flesh and the abomination and the mouse,
Shall ^[b]be consumed together,” says the Lord.

¹⁸“For I know their works and their ^(S)thoughts. It shall be that I will ^(T)gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come and see My glory. ¹⁹^(U)I will set a sign among them; and those among them who escape I will send to the nations: to Tarshish and ^[c]Pul and Lud, who draw the bow, and Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory. ^(V)And they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles. ²⁰Then they shall ^(W)bring all your brethren ^(X)for an offering to the Lord out of all nations, on horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord, “as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord. ²¹And I will also take some of them for ^(Y)priests and Levites,” says the Lord.

³He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.

¹¹That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.
