59 看啊，耶和华的臂膀并非没有力量拯救，

祂的耳朵并非聋得听不见。
²你们的罪过使你们与上帝隔绝，
你们的罪恶使祂转脸不看你们，
也不听你们的祈求。
³你们的手染满了血污，
手指沾满了罪恶。
你们的嘴唇吐出谎言，
舌头嘀咕恶事。
⁴无人按公义诉讼，
无人凭诚实申辩。
你们依靠诡辩，口出谎言，
心怀鬼胎，生出罪恶。
⁵你们孵毒蛇蛋，
人吃了这蛋必死，
蛋破后爬出毒蛇。
你们编蜘蛛网，
⁶这网不能做衣服遮盖你们。
你们行为邪恶，
做事残暴。
⁷你们奔向邪恶，
急于滥杀无辜；
你们心怀恶念，
所到之处大肆毁灭。
⁸你们不知道平安之路，
你们的行径毫无公正；
你们走歪门邪道，
跟从你们的必得不到平安。
⁹因此，正义远离我们，
公义临不到我们。
我们渴望光明，却得到黑暗；
我们渴望曙光，却仍然走在幽暗中。
¹⁰我们像盲人一样沿墙摸索，
像无眼睛的人一样探路。
我们在中午也跌跌撞撞，
如同走在晚上。
我们在强壮人当中如同死人。
¹¹我们像熊一样咆哮，
如鸽子一般哀鸣。
我们渴望正义，却得不到；
渴望得到拯救，却遥不可及。
¹²因为我们在上帝面前过犯累累，
我们的罪恶向我们发出控诉。
我们被过犯缠身，自知有罪。
¹³我们悖逆，否认耶和华，
离弃我们的上帝，
说欺压、叛逆的话，
吐露心中编织的谎言。
¹⁴正义被赶逐，
公义不能靠近，
真理倒在街上，
正直被拒之门外。
¹⁵真理无处可寻，
远离恶事的人反成了猎物。
耶和华因正义荡然无存而不悦。
¹⁶祂因无人、
无一个人主持公道而惊讶，
于是亲自伸出臂膀，
以自己的公义施行拯救。
¹⁷祂以公义作铠甲，
以救恩作头盔，
以复仇作衣服，
以热忱作外袍。
¹⁸祂必按各人的行为报应各人，
向祂的敌人发烈怒，
惩罚祂的仇敌，
向众海岛施行报应。
¹⁹这样，日落之处的人必敬畏耶和华的名，
日出之地的人必对祂的荣耀肃然起敬。
祂必奔来，如被耶和华之气推动的急流。

²⁰耶和华说：“必有一位救赎主来到锡安，
到雅各那些离弃罪恶的子孙那里。”

²¹耶和华说：“我亲自与他们立约，我赐给他们的灵和我放在他们口中的话，必不离开他们和他们的子子孙孙，从现在直到永远。这是耶和华说的。”

先知谴责人民的罪

59 看哪！耶和华的手不是缩短了，

以致不能拯救；

他的耳朵不是不灵，

不能听见；

²而是你们的罪孽使你们与你们的　神隔绝；

你们的罪恶使他掩面不顾你们，不听你们的祷告。

³因为你们的手沾满了血，

你们的指头被罪孽玷污，

你们的嘴唇说虚谎的话，

你们的舌头讲出凶言。

⁴没有人按公义求告，没有人凭诚实争辩；

他们都倚靠虚无，说虚谎的话；

所怀的是毒害，所生的是罪孽。

⁵他们所孵化的是毒蛇的蛋，他们所结的是蜘蛛的网，

吃了牠们的蛋，就一定死；

蛋破了，就孵出蝮蛇来。

⁶他们的网，不能作衣服，

他们所作的，也不能遮盖自己；

他们所作的是罪孽的作为，

他们的手里满是强暴的行为。

⁷他们的脚奔跑行恶，

他们急于流无辜人的血；

他们的思想都是邪恶的思想，

他们的行径全是破坏和毁灭。

⁸平安的路，他们不认识，

在他们的行径中没有公平；

他们为自己使道路弯曲，

行在其上的，都不认识平安。

⁹因此，公平远离我们，

公义赶不上我们，

我们指望亮光，不料，却是黑暗。

我们指望光明，却行在幽暗中！

¹⁰我们摸索墙壁，好象瞎子一样；

我们摸索，如同没有眼睛的人一般；

我们在中午跌倒，有如在黄昏跌倒一样；

我们在肥壮的人中，好象死人一般。

¹¹我们都咆哮如熊，

悲鸣像鸽子；

我们等候公平，却没有公平；

指望拯救，拯救却离我们很远。

¹²因为我们的过犯在你面前增多，

我们的罪作证控告我们，

我们的过犯与我们在一起；

我们知道我们的罪孽，

¹³就是悖逆、否认耶和华，

转去不跟从我们的　神，

说欺压和背道的话，

心里怀着谎言，随即说出来；

¹⁴公平被迫后退，

公义站在远处；

诚实在街上跌倒，

正直不能进入。

¹⁵诚实缺乏，

远离恶事的人反成为掠物。

耶和华看见了，

就看这为恶事（“就看这为恶事”或译：“很不喜悦”），因为一点公平也没有。

耶和华必拯救自己的子民

¹⁶他见无人行善，

无人代求，就非常诧异，

所以他用自己的膀臂为他施行拯救，

以自己的公义扶持他。

¹⁷他穿上公义的铠甲，

戴上救恩的头盔，

穿上复仇的衣服，

披上热心作外袍。

¹⁸他要按照各人的行为施行报应，

把烈怒降与他的敌人，把报应加给他的仇敌，

向众海岛的人施行报应。

¹⁹这样，人从日落之处必敬畏耶和华的名，

从日出之地也必敬畏他的荣耀，

因为他必像狭急的河流冲来，

耶和华的气必向他催逼。

²⁰“必有一位救赎主来到锡安，

来到雅各家中那些转离过犯的人那里。”这是耶和华说的。

²¹耶和华说：“至于我，我与他们所立的约是这样：我加在你们身上的灵和我放在你口里的话，必不离开你的口，不离开你后裔的口，也不离开你后裔的后裔的口，从现在直到永远；这是耶和华说的。”

International Standard Version

Sins that Separate from God

59 “See, the Lord’s hand is not too short to save,
    nor are his ears^[a] too dull to hear.
²Instead, your iniquities have been barriers
    between you and your God,
and your sins have concealed his face from you
    so that he won’t listen.
³For your hands are defiled with blood,
    and your fingers with iniquity;
        your tongue^[b] mutters wickedness.
⁴No one brings a lawsuit fairly,
    and no one goes to law honestly;
they have relied^[c] on empty arguments
    and they tell lies;
they conceive^[d] trouble
    and give birth^[e] to iniquity.
⁵They hatch^[f] adders’ eggs^[g]
    and weave^[h] a spider’s web;
whoever eats their eggs dies,
    and any crushed egg hatches out futility.^[i]
⁶Their cobwebs cannot become clothing,
    they cannot cover themselves with what they make.
Their deeds are deeds of iniquity,
    and acts of violence fill their hands.
⁷Their feet rush to evil,
    and they are quick to shed innocent blood.
Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity;
    ruin, destruction, and violence^[j] are in their paths.
⁸The pathway of peace they do not know,
    and there is no justice in their courses.
They have made their roads crooked;
    no one who walks in them will know peace.”

A Commitment to Wait on God

⁹“So justice is far from us,
    and righteousness does not reach us.
We wait for light, but look—there is darkness;
    we wait for brightness, but we walk in deep darkness.^[k]
¹⁰Let’s grope^[l] along the wall like the blind;
    let us grope like those who have no eyes.
We stumble at midday as if it were twilight,
    in desolate places^[m] like dead people.
¹¹We all growl like bears;
    we^[n] sigh mournfully like doves.
We look for justice, but there is none,
    and^[o] for deliverance, but it’s far from us.

¹²“For our transgressions before you are many,
    and our sins testify^[p] against us;
for our transgressions are with us,
    and as for our iniquities,
        we acknowledge them:
¹³they’ve rebelled^[q] in^[r] treachery against the Lord,
    and are turning away from following our God;
and they’ve spoken^[s] oppression and revolt,
    and are conceiving^[t] lying words from the heart.
¹⁴I’ll drive back justice,^[u]
    and righteousness stands at a distance;
for truth has fallen in the public square,
    and honesty cannot enter.
¹⁵Truth is missing,
    and whoever turns away from evil becomes a prey.”

God Brings His Own Salvation

“Then the Lord looked, and it displeased him
    that there was no justice.
¹⁶He saw that there was no one,
    and was appalled that there was no one to intervene;
so his own arm^[v] brought him victory,
    and his righteous acts upheld him.
¹⁷He put on righteousness like a breastplate,
    and a helmet of salvation on his head;
he put on garments of vengeance for clothing,
    and wrapped himself in fury like a cloak.
¹⁸So he will repay according to their action:
    Anger to his enemies, retribution to his foes;
        to the coastlands he will render their due.
¹⁹So people will fear the name of the Lord from the west,
    and his glories^[w] from the rising of the sun;
for he will come as a pent-up stream
    that the breath of the Lord drives along.

²⁰“And a Redeemer will come to Zion,
to those in Jacob who turn from transgression,” says the Lord.

²¹“As for me, this is my covenant with them,”^[x] says the Lord. “And^[y] my Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, won’t depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children, or from the mouths of your children’s children,^[z] from now on and forever.”
