以色列重歸故土
14 耶和華憐憫雅各，
再揀選以色列，
使他們安居在自己的國土上的時候，
外族人必與他們聯合，
歸屬於雅各家。
2 以色列人必把他們帶回自己的國土去，
以色列家必在耶和華所賜的地上得著這些外族人作僕婢；
也要擄掠那些擄掠過他們的，
並且統治那些欺壓過他們的。
譏諷巴比倫之歌
3 耶和華使你脫離痛苦、愁煩、被迫作的苦工，得享安息的日子， 4 你必唱出這首詩歌來諷刺巴比倫王，說：
“欺壓人的，怎麼止息了呢！
強暴怎麼止住了呢！
5 耶和華折斷了惡人的杖
和統治者的棒，
6 就是那在忿怒中不住擊打眾民、
在怒氣中管轄列國、毫無抑制地施行迫害的。
7 現在全地都平靜安息，
各人都發聲歡呼。
8 連松樹和黎巴嫩的香柏樹都因你歡樂，說：
‘自從你躺下以後，再沒有砍伐的人上來砍伐我們了。’
9 地下的陰間因你震動，並迎接你的來臨；
又因你而喚醒了所有曾在地上作過領袖的陰魂；
又使所有曾在列國中作君王的，都離位站起來。
10 他們都必答話，對你說：
‘你也變為衰弱，像我們一樣嗎？
你也與我們相似嗎？’
11 你的威勢和你的琴瑟音樂，
都被帶下陰間了；
你下面鋪的是蟲，
上面蓋的是蛆。
12 明亮之星、清晨之子啊！
你怎麼從天上墜落？
你這傾覆列國的，
怎麼被砍倒在地上？
13 你心裡曾說：
‘我要升到天上，
我要高舉我的寶座到 神的眾星之上，
我要坐在聚會的山上，
在北方的極處。
14 我要升到雲的高處，
我要使自己像那至高者一般。’
15 然而，你卻被拋下陰間，
落到坑中的極處。
16 那些看見你的，都必定睛看你，
他們必注視著你，說：
‘那使大地震動，
使列國搖撼，
17 使世界如同荒野，
傾覆城鎮，
又不釋放囚犯的，就是這人嗎？’
18 列國的君王都在榮耀中安睡，
各在自己的墳墓裡。
19 但你要從你的墳墓中被逐出，
好像一根被厭棄的樹枝，
你被那些遭刀劍所殺的人掩蓋，
就是那些被拋到坑中石頭那裡的人。
你就像一具遭人踐踏的屍體。
20 你必不得與別的君王同葬，
因為你敗壞了你的國，
殺戮了你的人民；
願那些惡人的後裔永遠不被人提說。
21 因為他們的祖宗犯了罪孽，
你們要為他的子孫預備屠殺之處；
不要讓他們興起來，佔有地土，
在世上布滿城鎮。”
22 萬軍之耶和華說：“我必興起攻擊他們，把巴比倫的名號、所剩餘的人，以及後裔子孫，都一同剪除。”這是耶和華說的。 23 “我必使巴比倫被箭豬所佔，又使它變為泥沼之地；我必用毀滅的掃帚把它掃淨。”這是萬軍之耶和華說的。 24 萬軍之耶和華起了誓，說：

29 非利士全地啊！
不要因為那擊打你們的杖折斷了就歡喜，
因為從蛇的根必生出毒蛇來，
牠所生的，是會飛的蛇。
30 最貧寒的人必有食物吃，
貧乏人必安然躺臥；
我必用饑荒毀滅你的根，
你餘剩的人，必被饑荒所殺。

因為有煙從北方來，

14 Mais l’Eternel
aura compassion de Jacob
et, de nouveau, ╵il fixera son choix sur Israël.
Il rétablira ses enfants ╵dans leur propre pays,
et des étrangers se joindront ╵au peuple de Jacob,
ils s’uniront à lui.
2 Des peuples viendront les chercher ╵et les reconduiront chez eux.
Le peuple d’Israël prendra ces gens ╵pour serviteurs et pour servantes,
dans le pays de l’Eternel.
Ils retiendront captifs ╵ceux qui les auront capturés
et ils domineront ╵ceux qui les auront opprimés.
3 Au jour où l’Eternel ╵t’aura accordé du repos
après ta peine et ton tourment,
et après le dur esclavage ╵auquel on t’aura asservi,
4 tu chanteras ce chant ╵pour te moquer ╵du roi de Babylone.
Oui, tu diras :
Comment est-ce possible ? ╵L’oppresseur n’est plus là !
Finie la tyrannie :
5 l’Eternel a brisé ╵le bâton des méchants,
le sceptre des despotes.
6 Celui qui, dans sa rage, ╵frappait les peuples
par des coups sans relâche
et qui, dans sa colère, ╵opprimait les nations,
maintenant, à son tour, ╵est poursuivi sans trêve[a].
7 Toute la terre est en repos, ╵elle est tranquille,
et des cris d’allégresse ╵retentissent partout.
8 Les cyprès même ╵sont heureux de sa chute, ╵et les cèdres du Liban disent :
« Depuis que tu t’es effondré
le bûcheron ne vient plus nous abattre ! »
9 Le monde du séjour des morts en bas ╵est en émoi à ton sujet
pour t’accueillir à ta venue.
Pour toi, on réveille les ombres
et tous les princes de la terre.
On a fait lever de leurs trônes ╵tous les rois des nations.
10 Eux tous, ils s’adressent à toi ╵en te disant :
« Toi aussi, tu es maintenant ╵sans forces comme nous,
te voilà donc semblable à nous ! »
11 Ton orgueil est précipité ╵dans le séjour des morts
ainsi que le son de tes luths.
Les vers sont maintenant ta couche,
la vermine ta couverture.
12 Comment es-tu tombé du ciel,
astre brillant, fils de l’aurore ?
Toi qui terrassais d’autres peuples,
comment est-il possible ╵que tu aies été abattu à terre ?
13 Tu disais en ton cœur : ╵« Je monterai au ciel,
j’élèverai mon trône ╵bien au-dessus des étoiles divines.
Je siégerai en roi sur la montagne ╵de l’assemblée des dieux,
aux confins du septentrion[b].
14 Je monterai au sommet des nuages,
je serai semblable au Très-Haut. »
15 Mais te voilà précipité ╵dans le séjour des morts,
dans les profondeurs de l’abîme !
16 Ceux qui te voient ╵arrêtent leurs regards sur toi,
ils se demandent :
« Est-ce bien là cet homme ╵qui ébranlait la terre
et qui terrifiait les royaumes,
17 qui changeait le monde en désert,
qui détruisait les villes
et qui ne relâchait jamais ╵ses prisonniers ? »
18 Tous les rois des nations, ╵oui, tous, sans exception,
ont cet honneur de reposer ╵chacun dans son caveau.
19 Mais toi, loin de ta tombe, ╵tu as été jeté
comme un avorton[c] qu’on méprise,
au milieu des victimes ╵transpercées par l’épée,
qu’on a précipitées ╵dans la fosse de pierres,
dont on piétine le cadavre.
20 Tu ne seras jamais ╵réuni avec elles ╵dans le tombeau,
car tu as ruiné ton pays,
et tu as fait périr ton peuple.
La race criminelle ╵sera oubliée à jamais.
21 Préparez le massacre de ses fils
pour tous les crimes de leurs pères,
pour qu’ils ne puissent pas ╵se relever un jour ╵pour conquérir le monde
et couvrir de leurs villes[d] ╵la face de la terre.
22 Je combattrai contre eux,
déclare l’Eternel, ╵le Seigneur des armées célestes,
et je rayerai de la terre ╵le nom de Babylone, ╵oui je supprimerai ╵ce qui restera d’elle,
sa lignée et sa descendance.
L’Eternel le déclare.
23 Ses ruines deviendront ╵un nid de hérissons, ╵un vaste marécage.
Et je la balaierai ╵comme avec un balai ╵qui détruit tout.
L’Eternel le déclare, ╵le Seigneur des armées célestes.
Contre l’Assyrie
24 Le Seigneur des armées célestes ╵a juré par serment :
« Ce que j’ai décidé ╵s’accomplira,
ce que j’ai projeté ╵se réalisera :
25 oui, je briserai l’Assyrie ╵dans mon pays,
je la piétinerai ╵sur mes montagnes.
J’écarterai de vous ╵le joug qu’elle imposait,
j’ôterai son fardeau ╵de dessus votre épaule. »
26 Telle est la décision ╵que l’Eternel a prise ╵contre la terre entière,
et telle est la menace ╵qu’il adresse à toute nation.
27 Le Seigneur des armées célestes ╵a pris sa décision ; ╵qui pourrait le faire échouer ?
Il a levé sa main ; ╵qui la détournerait ?
Contre la Philistie
28 Oracle prononcé lors de l’année de la mort du roi Ahaz[e] :
29 Ne te réjouis pas tant, ╵Philistie tout entière,
de ce que le bâton ╵qui te frappait le dos ╵a été mis en pièces,
car de la souche du serpent ╵naîtra un basilic
dont la progéniture ╵sera un serpent venimeux volant[f].
30 Les plus pauvres du peuple ╵trouveront de quoi se nourrir
et tous les miséreux ╵reposeront en sûreté.
Mais je ferai périr ╵ton peuple par la faim,
et ceux qui resteront de toi ╵seront exterminés.
31 Lamente-toi, ô porte,
pousse des cris, ô ville !
Toute la Philistie s’effondre,
car du septentrion ╵arrive une fumée
et, dans leurs bataillons, ╵aucun ne se débande.
32 Que répondrons-nous donc ╵à ceux qu’envoie cette nation ?
Que c’est l’Eternel même ╵qui a fondé Sion ;
les humbles de son peuple ╵y trouveront refuge.

14 For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
2 And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,
4 That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
5 The Lord hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers.
6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.
7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.
8 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.
9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?
11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
22 For I will rise up against them, saith the Lord of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the Lord.
23 I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the Lord of hosts.
24 The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.
27 For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
28 In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.
29 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.
30 And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.
31 Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.
32 What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the Lord hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.
