Ezequiel 3

3 Então me disse:
—Homem mortal, coma o que você encontrar ali. Engula esse rolo e depois vá falar sobre estas coisas ao povo de Israel.
2 Portanto, abri a boca para tratar de engolir o rolo. 3 Ele tornou a insistir comigo:
—Homem mortal, bom proveito! Coma com vontade e encha seu estômago com o rolo que dou a você.
Então comi o rolo, senti na minha boca o sabor do mel, por causa da sua doçura. 4 Então ele me disse:
—Homem mortal, vá ao povo de Israel e fale para eles o que eu lhe falar. 5 Não envio você a um povo que fala um idioma complicado e difícil, mas ao povo de Israel. 6 Existem vários lugares neste mundo aos quais eu poderia enviar você. Nesses lugares as pessoas falam idiomas que são complicados e difíceis de aprender. Mas posso assegurar a você que se o enviasse a esses lugares, as pessoas certamente escutariam a sua mensagem. 7 Mas o povo de Israel não vai querer escutar você visto que não quer me escutar. Todos eles são teimosos e obstinados. 8 Eles são um povo rebelde, mas eu farei de você uma pessoa tão teimosa e obstinada como eles! 9 Não tenha medo deles. Você será como o diamante, mais duro do que uma pedra.
10 Depois me disse:
—Homem mortal, escute e entenda bem cada uma das minhas palavras, 11 depois vá com os seus aonde estiverem exilados e dê minha mensagem a eles, falando o seguinte: “Assim diz o Senhor DEUS”, ainda que não escutem você nem deixem de fazer o mal.
12 Então o Espírito me levantou e por trás de mim escutei uma voz de trovão que dizia:
—Bendita seja a glória do SENHOR onde ele habita!
13 Também ouvi um ruído como o de um grande terremoto e foi produzido pelo roçar das asas dos seres viventes, os quais as batiam uma contra a outra, e pelo ruído das rodas que estavam junto a elas. 14 O Espírito me levantou e me levou. Assim fui embora, amargurado e chateado, mas sob o poder do SENHOR. 15 Eu fui a Tel-Abibe, junto ao rio Quebar, onde vivia a comunidade dos exilados. Ali fiquei sentado em silêncio durante sete dias.
Ezequiel, a sentinela que avisa a Israel
16 Depois de sete dias, o SENHOR me disse:
17 —Homem mortal, tenho colocado você como sentinela do povo de Israel. Portanto, quando você receber uma mensagem da minha parte, terá que avisar a quem a mensagem for dirigida. 18 Se eu dizer a uma pessoa malvada: “Você morrerá!” e você não falar com ela nem lhe avisar que deve mudar sua conduta, ela será declarada culpada e sofrerá a pena de morte. Morrerá pelo seu crime, mas eu também farei que você seja responsável pela sua morte. 19 Porém, se apesar da advertência que você lhe fizer, ela não deixar de fazer o mal nem mudar a sua conduta, então ela será declarada culpada e sofrerá a pena de morte, mas você se salvará. 20 Se um homem bom deixar de fazer o bem e começar a fazer o mal quando eu lhe colocar alguma pedra de tropeço, ele morrerá se você não lhe avisar. Não serão levadas em conta suas boas ações, e farei com que você seja o responsável pela sua morte. 21 Porém, caso você avisar a um homem bom para não pecar, e este seguir fazendo o bem e não pecar, ele conservará a sua vida por ter feito caso do seu aviso, e você se salvará.
22 Então, nesse lugar, senti que o poder do SENHOR me tocou. Ele me disse:
—Fique em pé e vá ao vale[a], que ali falarei com você.
23 Portanto, me levantei e me dirigi ao vale. De repente vi a glória do SENHOR, como a que tinha visto no rio Quebar. Caí curvado até tocar com o meu rosto o chão, 24 mas o Espírito entrou em mim e me colocou em pé. Então me disse:
—Vá e fique dentro da sua casa! 25 Eles o amarrarão com cordas para que você não possa sair da sua casa nem andar em público. 26 Farei com que a sua língua fique grudada ao paladar para que você não possa falar. Você não poderá repreendê-los, porque são pessoas rebeldes. 27 Mas quando eu falar com você, soltarei a sua língua para que você lhes fale: “Assim diz o Senhor DEUS”. Quem quiser escutar, que escute; e quem não quiser escutar, que não escute; porque são um povo rebelde.

3 Deus disse:
— Homem mortal, coma esse rolo; depois, vá e fale ao povo de Israel.
2 Então abri a boca, e ele me deu o rolo para comer. 3 E disse:
— Homem mortal, coma esse rolo que lhe estou dando; encha o seu estômago com ele.
Eu comi, e era doce como mel.
4 Então Deus disse:
— Homem mortal, vá e diga ao povo de Israel o que eu ordenar. 5 Não estou enviando você a uma nação que fala uma língua estrangeira difícil, mas aos israelitas. 6 Se eu o enviasse a grandes nações que falam línguas difíceis que você não pudesse entender, elas dariam atenção a você. 7 Porém o povo de Israel não vai lhe dar atenção, pois eles não querem ouvir o que eu digo. Todos eles são teimosos e rebeldes. 8 Mas agora eu vou fazer com que você se torne tão teimoso e duro como eles. 9 Farei com que você fique tão forte como uma rocha e tão duro como um diamante. Por isso, não tenha medo, nem se assuste com esses rebeldes.
10 E Deus continuou:
— Homem mortal, preste bem atenção e lembre tudo o que lhe estou dizendo. 11 Depois, vá falar com os seus patrícios que foram levados para o cativeiro. Diga-lhes o que eu, o Senhor Deus, estou dizendo, tanto se lhe derem atenção como se não derem.
12 Então o Espírito de Deus me levou para o alto, e ouvi atrás de mim uma voz forte como um trovão. A voz gritava:
— Louvem nos altos céus a glória do Senhor!
13 Ouvi as asas dos animais batendo juntas no ar e também o barulho das rodas, que era tão forte como o de um trovão. 14 Aí o poder do Senhor me dominou, e o seu Espírito me levou dali; aí eu fiquei zangado e cheio de amargura. 15 Então fui a Tel-Abibe, na beira do rio Quebar, onde estavam vivendo os judeus que haviam sido levados como prisioneiros. E fiquei ali sete dias, espantado com o que tinha visto e ouvido.
O profeta como vigia(A)
16 Depois desses sete dias, o Senhor Deus falou comigo assim:
17 — Homem mortal, eu o estou pondo como vigia para a nação de Israel. Você entregará a eles os avisos que eu lhe der. 18 Se eu anunciar que um homem mau vai morrer, e você não avisar esse homem para que pare de fazer o mal e assim salve a sua vida, ele morrerá como pecador, e você será o responsável pela morte dele. 19 Se você avisar um homem mau, e ele não deixar de pecar, ele morrerá ainda pecador, mas você não morrerá.
20 — Se um homem direito começar a fazer o mal, e eu o puser em uma situação perigosa, ele morrerá se você não o avisar. Ele morrerá por causa dos pecados dele, e eu não lembrarei do bem que ele fez. E você será responsável pela morte dele. 21 Se você avisar um homem direito para que não peque, e, se ele der atenção a você e não pecar, então ele ficará vivo, e você também não morrerá.
Ezequiel fica mudo
22 Eu senti a presença poderosa do Senhor Deus e o ouvi dizer o seguinte:
— Levante-se e vá até o vale, que eu falarei com você ali.
23 Então fui até o vale e lá vi a glória do Senhor, como já havia visto na beira do rio Quebar. Eu caí com o rosto no chão, 24 mas o Espírito de Deus entrou em mim e me pôs de pé. E Deus me disse:
— Vá para casa e feche-se dentro dela. 25 Você, homem mortal, vai ser amarrado com cordas e não poderá sair. 26 Vou paralisar a sua língua, e você não poderá avisar essa gente rebelde. 27 Depois, quando eu falar de novo com você e lhe devolver a fala, você dirá a esse povo o que eu, o Senhor Deus, disser. Alguns deles vão ouvir, mas outros não, porque são um povo rebelde.

3 And he said to me, “Son of man,[a] what you find, eat! Eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” 2 And I opened my mouth, and he gave me this scroll to eat, 3 and he said to me, “Son of man,[b] you must give your stomach this to eat, and you must fill your belly with this scroll that I am giving to you.” And I ate, and it became like sweet honey[c] in my mouth. 4 And he said to me, “Son of man,[d] come! Go to the house of Israel, and you must speak to them with my words. 5 For you are sent to the house of Israel, not to a people of obscure speech[e] and of a difficult language,[f] 6 and not to many nations of obscure speech[g] and a difficult language[h] whose words[i] you do not understand, for if I had sent you to them they would have listened to you. 7 And the house of Israel, they are not willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me, for all of the house of Israel is hard of forehead, and they are hard of heart. 8 But look, I have made[j] your face hard against[k] their faces and your forehead hard against[l] their forehead. 9 Like a diamond harder than flint[m] I have made your forehead; you must not fear them, and you must not be dismayed on account of them,[n] for they are a rebellious house.[o] 10 And he said to me, “Son of man,[p] all of my words that I shall speak to you, receive into[q] your heart and hear with your ears. 11 And come, go to the exiles,[r] to the children[s] of your people, and you must speak to them, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh!’ whether they listen or whether they fail to listen.” 12 And the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the sound of a great earthquake when the glory of Yahweh rose from its place. 13 And it was the sound of the wings of the living creatures touching lightly[t] one against the other,[u] and the sound of the wheels beside them and the sound of a great earthquake. 14 And the Spirit lifted me and took me, and I went in bitterness in the heat of my spirit, and the hand of Yahweh was strong on me. 15 And I went to the exiles[v] at Tel Abib, who were dwelling near the Kebar River,[w] and I sat where they were dwelling. I sat there seven days in the midst of them, stunned. 16 And then it happened[x] at the end of seven days, the word of Yahweh came[y] to me, saying, 17 “Son of man,[z] I have appointed you as a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, then you must warn them from me. 18 When I say[aa] to the wicked, ‘Surely you will die,’ and you do not warn him and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way so that he may live,[ab] that wicked person will die because of his guilt, and from your hand I will seek his blood. 19 And you, if you do warn the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness and from his wicked way, on account of his guilt he will die, and you yourself will have saved your life.[ac] 20 And when the righteous turns from his righteousness[ad] and does injustice, and I place[ae] a stumbling block before him,[af] he will die, for you did not warn him. Because of his sin he will die, and his righteousness[ag] that he did will not be remembered, and his blood I shall seek from your hand. 21 And if you warn him, the righteous, not to sin, and the righteous does not sin, surely he will live, for he heeded a warning. And you will have saved your life.”[ah]
22 And the hand of Yahweh was on me there, and he said to me, “Rise up, go out to the valley, and there I will speak with you.” 23 And I rose up, and I went to the valley, and, look, there the glory of Yahweh was standing, like the glory that I saw near the Kebar River,[ai] and I fell on my face. 24 And the Spirit[aj] came into me, and it made me stand on my feet, and he spoke with me and said to me, “Come, shut yourself inside your house,[ak] 25 and you, son of man,[al] look, they will place[am] cords on you, and they will tie you up with them. Then you will not go out into the midst of them. 26 And I will make your tongue cling to the roof of your mouth, and you will be silenced, and you will not be a reproving man for them, for they are a rebellious house.[an] 27 And when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you must say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “The one hearing him, let him hear, and the one failing to hear, let him fail,”’ for they are a rebellious house.[ao]
