锈锅的比喻
24 第九年十月十日，耶和华对我说： 2 “人子啊，今天是巴比伦王围攻耶路撒冷的日子，你要记下这日子。 3 你要向叛逆的以色列人说比喻，告诉他们，主耶和华这样说，
“‘把锅放在火上，
里面倒进水，
4 把羊腿、羊肩等上好的肉块放进锅里，
让锅里盛满精选的骨头。
5 要从羊群中选一头上好的羊，
把柴堆在锅下，
烧开锅煮里面的骨头。’”
6 主耶和华说：“这像锈锅一样充满血腥的城有祸了！要把肉从这锈迹斑斑的锅中一块块地取出来。 7 这城沾满血腥，任凭受害者的血流在光秃秃的磐石上，而不是流在地上用土掩盖。 8 我任凭这城把受害者的血洒在磐石上，不加掩盖，好激起我的烈怒，使她受报应。 9 所以主耶和华说，‘血腥的城啊，你有祸了！我要预备大堆木柴， 10 添在火上，燃起旺火，把肉煮烂，加入香料，烧焦骨头。 11 然后，把倒空的锅放在炭火上烧热，把铜烧红，好熔化它的杂质，除净锈垢， 12 却徒劳无功，因为锈垢太厚，就是用火也不能清除。 13 耶路撒冷啊，淫荡使你污秽不堪，我要洁净你，你却不愿被洁净。所以，除非我向你倾尽一切愤怒，否则你的污秽将不能清除。 14 我耶和华言出必行，决不宽容，也不留情，我必照你的所作所为来审判你。’这是主耶和华说的。”
15 耶和华对我说： 16 “人子啊，我要突然夺去你心爱的人，你不可悲伤，也不可流泪哭泣。 17 你要默然哀叹，不可为死人办丧事，仍要缠着头巾，穿着鞋，不可蒙着脸，也不可吃丧家吃的饭。” 18 早晨我把这事告诉百姓，晚上我的妻子便死了。次日早晨，我便遵照耶和华的吩咐行。
19 百姓问我：“你可以告诉我们，你这样做跟我们有什么关系吗？” 20 我告诉他们：“耶和华对我说， 21 ‘你告诉以色列人，我要使我的圣所，就是你们引以为傲、眼中所爱、心里所慕的受到亵渎。你们留下的儿女必死于刀下。 22 那时，你们将像我的仆人一样不蒙脸，不吃丧家吃的饭。 23 你们仍将裹着头巾，穿着鞋，不哭泣，也不悲伤。你们必因自己的罪恶而默然叹息，逐渐灭亡。 24 以西结做的事都是你们的预兆，你们也将做他做的。当这事发生时，你们就知道我是主耶和华了。’
25 “人子啊，有一天我要夺去他们所喜悦、所夸耀、眼中所爱、心里所慕的堡垒，也要夺去他们的儿女。 26 那日，幸存的人必来告诉你这个消息。 27 那时，你必开口向那人说话，不再沉默。你必成为他们的预兆，他们就知道我是耶和华。”

24 第九年十月十日，耶和华的话又临到我说： 2 “人子啊！你要记下今天的日子，正正是今天，因为巴比伦王就是在这一天围困耶路撒冷。 3 你要向这叛逆的民族设比喻，对他们说：‘主耶和华这样说：
把锅放在火上，放好了，就把水倒在锅里；
4 把肉块，就是所有肥美的肉块，
腿肉和肩肉，都放进锅里；
用上好的骨头把锅装满。
5 要选用羊群中最好的，
把柴堆放在锅底下，
使锅沸腾，
把骨头煮在锅中。
预言耶路撒冷必遭毁灭
6 “‘因此，主耶和华这样说：
流人血的城，
就是长锈的锅，有祸了！
它的锈未曾除掉，
要把锅里的东西一块一块取出来，
不必为它们抽签。
7 因为她所流的血还在城中；
她把血泼在光滑的盘石上，
不是倒在地上，
被尘土掩盖。
8 我为了发烈怒，好施行报应，
就把她的血倒在光滑的盘石上，
以致不得掩盖。
9 因此，主耶和华这样说：
流人血的城，有祸了！
我也必把柴堆加大。
10 你要多加柴枝，点上火，
混和香料，
把肉煮烂，
使骨头烧焦；
11 然后把空锅放在炭火上，
使锅烧热，
使铜烧红，
使其中的污秽熔化，
使它的锈得以除净。
12 这锅真叫人疲累！
它厚厚的锈总没法除掉，
就是用火也不能除掉。
13 你的污秽就是淫荡。我想要洁净你，你却不愿意洁净，所以你的污秽再不能得到洁净，直等到我向你发的烈怒止息。 14 我耶和华已经说了。时候到了，我必成就；我必不退缩，必不顾惜，也不改变心意；我必照着你的所作所为审判你。这是主耶和华的宣告。’”
妻死勿哀的比喻
15 耶和华的话又临到我说： 16 “人子啊！我要打击你，把你眼中所喜爱的夺去，你却不可悲哀，不可哭泣，也不可流泪。 17 只可静默地叹息，不可为死人哀悼；你的头上仍要缠着头巾，脚上仍要穿著鞋子；你不可蒙着脸，也不可吃为丧家预备的食物。” 18 于是我在早上对众人说了这事，晚上我的妻子就死了；次日早晨我就照着所吩咐我的行了。 19 众人问我：“你不告诉我们你这样行与我们有甚么关系吗？” 20 我回答他们：“耶和华的话临到我说： 21 ‘你要告诉以色列家，主耶和华这样说：看哪！我必使我的圣所被亵渎，这圣所就是你们所夸耀的势力，眼所喜爱的，心中所爱惜的。你们遗下的儿女，都必倒在刀下。 22 那时你们要照着我所行的去行；你们不可蒙着脸，也不可吃为丧家预备的食物。 23 你们的头上仍要缠着头巾，脚上仍要穿著鞋子；你们不可悲哀，不可哭泣；但你们必因自己的罪孽相对叹息，衰弱而死。 24 以西结必成为你们的一个兆头；凡他所行的，将来你们也要照样行。这事来到，你们就知道我是主耶和华。’
25 “人子啊！我从他们中间夺去他们的堡垒、他们所喜欢的荣耀、他们眼所喜爱的、心所崇尚的和他们的儿女的时候， 26 岂没有逃脱的人来到你那里，使你听见这事吗？ 27 那时，你要向逃脱的人开口说话，不再作哑巴。你必成为他们的一个兆头。他们就知道我是耶和华。”

A Parable About the Siege of Jerusalem
24 The word of the Lord came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month.[a]
2 Son of man, record this date, this very day. The king of Babylon laid siege to Jerusalem on this very day. 3 Tell a parable to the rebellious house. Tell them that this is what the Lord God says.
Put the pot on. Put it on. Then pour water in it. 4 Put the pieces of meat into it, every good piece, thigh and shoulder. Fill it with the best cuts.[b] 5 Take the best of the flock. Pile up the wood[c] under it. Boil it thoroughly, so that the pieces[d] in it are well cooked.
6 Therefore, this is what the Lord God says. Woe to the bloody city, a pot whose residue[e] is inside it, whose residue has not gone out of it!
Take out its cuts of meat piece by piece, without choosing one piece in preference to another.[f] 7 Do this because the blood she shed remains within her. She spilled it on a bare rock. She did not pour it on the ground, where the soil would cover it. 8 To rouse wrath and to exact repayment, I have spilled her blood on a bare rock so that it would not be covered.
9 Therefore, this is what the Lord God says. Woe to the bloody city! I myself will keep piling up the wood. 10 Add more wood. Stoke the fire. Overcook the meat. Pour out the broth.[g] Let the bones be charred. 11 Leave the empty pot on the coals so that it becomes hot and its bronze glows, till the filth inside it is melted, and its residue is burned away. 12 The city has wearied me with its wickedness. Its filthy residue has not been removed from it. Into the fire with its filthy residue!
13 Your impurity is lewdness. I tried to cleanse you, but you did not become clean, and as a result you will not be clean again from your impurity until I have exhausted my wrath against you. 14 I, the Lord, have spoken. This is coming, and I will do it. I will not neglect it. I will not spare you, and I will not relent. According to your behavior and your misdeeds, you will be judged, declares the Lord God.
The Death of Ezekiel’s Wife
15 The word of the Lord came to me.
16 Son of man, be warned! With one blow I am taking away from you what your eyes desire. You must not mourn or cry. Your tears must not flow. 17 Groan silently. Perform no mourning rites for the dead. Bind your turban on your head. Put your sandals on your feet. Do not cover your upper lip. Do not eat the food people bring to mourners.
18 So I spoke to the people that morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I had been commanded. 19 Then the people asked me, “Won’t you tell us what these things that you are doing mean for us?”
20 I answered them, “This is the word of the Lord that came to me.”
21 Say to the house of Israel that this is what the Lord God says.
I am about to desecrate my sanctuary, the stronghold of which you are so proud, the sight your eyes desire, the place your soul yearns for. Your sons and your daughters whom you have left behind will fall by the sword. 22 You will do as I have done. You will not cover your upper lip. You will not eat the food people bring to mourners. 23 Your turbans will remain on your heads and your sandals on your feet. You will not mourn or cry, but you will waste away in your guilt, and you will groan to one another. 24 In this way, Ezekiel will be a sign to you. You will do everything the same way as he has done it. When it happens, you will know that I am the Lord God.
25 But you, son of man, be aware that on that day when I take away from them their stronghold, their joy and glory, what their eyes desire, and that on which they set their hearts—their sons and their daughters as well— 26 on that day a survivor will come to you to let you hear it with your own ears. 27 On that day, your mouth will be opened when the survivor comes. Then you will speak and be speechless no longer. You will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the Lord.

- Ezekiel 24:6 The meaning of this word is uncertain. It refers to some sort of uncleanness, perhaps the carbonized waste that remains in an overheated pot.
- Ezekiel 24:6 The Hebrew reads no lot has fallen on it for the words without choosing one piece in preference to another.
- Ezekiel 24:10 The translation follows the Greek text. The Hebrew seems to read mix in the spices. It is not clear how this reading would fit a context about the final stages of destroying the meat.
