24 第九年十月初十日，耶和华的话又临到我说： 2 “人子啊，今日正是巴比伦王就近耶路撒冷的日子，你要将这日记下。 3 要向这悖逆之家设比喻说：‘主耶和华如此说：将锅放在火上，放好了，就倒水在其中。 4 将肉块，就是一切肥美的肉块，腿和肩都聚在其中，拿美好的骨头把锅装满。 5 取羊群中最好的，将柴堆在锅下，使锅开滚，好把骨头煮在其中。
示耶路撒冷必遭毁灭
6 ‘主耶和华如此说：祸哉，这流人血的城，就是长锈的锅！其中的锈未曾除掉，须要将肉块从其中一一取出来，不必为它拈阄。 7 城中所流的血倒在净光的磐石上，不倒在地上，用土掩盖。 8 这城中所流的血倒在净光的磐石上，不得掩盖，乃是出于我，为要发愤怒施行报应。 9 所以主耶和华如此说：祸哉，这流人血的城！我也必大堆火柴。 10 添上木柴，使火着旺，将肉煮烂，把汤熬浓，使骨头烤焦。 11 把锅倒空坐在炭火上，使锅烧热，使铜烧红，熔化其中的污秽，除净其上的锈。 12 这锅劳碌疲乏，所长的大锈仍未除掉，这锈就是用火也不能除掉。 13 在你污秽中有淫行。我洁净你，你却不洁净。你的污秽再不能洁净，直等我向你发的愤怒止息。 14 我耶和华说过的必定成就，必照话而行，必不返回，必不顾惜，也不后悔。人必照你的举动行为审判你。这是主耶和华说的。’”

15 耶和华的话又临到我说： 16 “人子啊，我要将你眼目所喜爱的忽然取去，你却不可悲哀哭泣，也不可流泪。 17 只可叹息，不可出声，不可办理丧事。头上仍勒裹头巾，脚上仍穿鞋，不可蒙着嘴唇，也不可吃吊丧的食物。” 18 于是我将这事早晨告诉百姓，晚上我的妻就死了。次日早晨我便遵命而行。
19 百姓问我说：“你这样行与我们有什么关系，你不告诉我们吗？” 20 我回答他们：“耶和华的话临到我说： 21 ‘你告诉以色列家，主耶和华如此说：我必使我的圣所，就是你们势力所夸耀、眼里所喜爱、心中所爱惜的被亵渎，并且你们所遗留的儿女必倒在刀下。 22 那时，你们必行我仆人所行的，不蒙着嘴唇，也不吃吊丧的食物。 23 你们仍要头上勒裹头巾，脚上穿鞋，不可悲哀哭泣。你们必因自己的罪孽相对叹息，渐渐消灭。 24 以西结必这样为你们做预兆，凡他所行的，你们也必照样行。那事来到，你们就知道我是主耶和华。
25 ‘人子啊，我除掉他们所倚靠、所欢喜的荣耀，并眼中所喜爱、心里所重看的儿女。 26 那日逃脱的人岂不来到你这里，使你耳闻这事吗？ 27 你必向逃脱的人开口说话，不再哑口。你必这样为他们做预兆，他们就知道我是耶和华。’”

24 第九年十月十日，耶和华的话又临到我说： 2 “人子啊！你要记下今天的日子，正正是今天，因为巴比伦王就是在这一天围困耶路撒冷。 3 你要向这叛逆的民族设比喻，对他们说：‘主耶和华这样说：
把锅放在火上，放好了，就把水倒在锅里；
4 把肉块，就是所有肥美的肉块，
腿肉和肩肉，都放进锅里；
用上好的骨头把锅装满。
5 要选用羊群中最好的，
把柴堆放在锅底下，
使锅沸腾，
把骨头煮在锅中。
预言耶路撒冷必遭毁灭
6 “‘因此，主耶和华这样说：
流人血的城，
就是长锈的锅，有祸了！
它的锈未曾除掉，
要把锅里的东西一块一块取出来，
不必为它们抽签。
7 因为她所流的血还在城中；
她把血泼在光滑的盘石上，
不是倒在地上，
被尘土掩盖。
8 我为了发烈怒，好施行报应，
就把她的血倒在光滑的盘石上，
以致不得掩盖。
9 因此，主耶和华这样说：
流人血的城，有祸了！
我也必把柴堆加大。
10 你要多加柴枝，点上火，
混和香料，
把肉煮烂，
使骨头烧焦；
11 然后把空锅放在炭火上，
使锅烧热，
使铜烧红，
使其中的污秽熔化，
使它的锈得以除净。
12 这锅真叫人疲累！
它厚厚的锈总没法除掉，
就是用火也不能除掉。
13 你的污秽就是淫荡。我想要洁净你，你却不愿意洁净，所以你的污秽再不能得到洁净，直等到我向你发的烈怒止息。 14 我耶和华已经说了。时候到了，我必成就；我必不退缩，必不顾惜，也不改变心意；我必照着你的所作所为审判你。这是主耶和华的宣告。’”
妻死勿哀的比喻
15 耶和华的话又临到我说： 16 “人子啊！我要打击你，把你眼中所喜爱的夺去，你却不可悲哀，不可哭泣，也不可流泪。 17 只可静默地叹息，不可为死人哀悼；你的头上仍要缠着头巾，脚上仍要穿著鞋子；你不可蒙着脸，也不可吃为丧家预备的食物。” 18 于是我在早上对众人说了这事，晚上我的妻子就死了；次日早晨我就照着所吩咐我的行了。 19 众人问我：“你不告诉我们你这样行与我们有甚么关系吗？” 20 我回答他们：“耶和华的话临到我说： 21 ‘你要告诉以色列家，主耶和华这样说：看哪！我必使我的圣所被亵渎，这圣所就是你们所夸耀的势力，眼所喜爱的，心中所爱惜的。你们遗下的儿女，都必倒在刀下。 22 那时你们要照着我所行的去行；你们不可蒙着脸，也不可吃为丧家预备的食物。 23 你们的头上仍要缠着头巾，脚上仍要穿著鞋子；你们不可悲哀，不可哭泣；但你们必因自己的罪孽相对叹息，衰弱而死。 24 以西结必成为你们的一个兆头；凡他所行的，将来你们也要照样行。这事来到，你们就知道我是主耶和华。’

The Message
Bring the Pot to a Boil
24 1-5 The Message of God came to me in the ninth year, the tenth month, and the tenth day of the month: “Son of man, write down this date. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day. Tell this company of rebels a story:
“‘Put on the soup pot.
Fill it with water.
Put chunks of meat into it,
all the choice pieces—loin and brisket.
Pick out the best soup bones
from the best of the sheep in the flock.
Pile wood beneath the pot.
Bring it to a boil
and cook the soup.
6 “‘God, the Master, says:
“‘Doom to the city of murder,
to the pot thick with scum,
thick with a filth that can’t be scoured.
Empty the pot piece by piece;
don’t bother who gets what.
7-8 “‘The blood from murders
has stained the whole city;
Blood runs bold on the street stones,
with no one bothering to wash it off—
Blood out in the open to public view
to provoke my wrath,
to trigger my vengeance.
9-12 “‘Therefore, this is what God, the Master, says:
“‘Doom to the city of murder!
I, too, will pile on the wood.
Stack the wood high,
light the match,
Cook the meat, spice it well, pour out the broth,
and then burn the bones.
Then I’ll set the empty pot on the coals
and heat it red-hot so the bronze glows,
So the germs are killed
and the corruption is burned off.
But it’s hopeless. It’s too far gone.
The filth is too thick.
13-14 “‘Your encrusted filth is your filthy sex. I wanted to clean you up, but you wouldn’t let me. I’ll make no more attempts at cleaning you up until my anger quiets down. I, God, have said it, and I’ll do it. I’m not holding back. I’ve run out of compassion. I’m not changing my mind. You’re getting exactly what’s coming to you. Decree of God, the Master.’”
No Tears
15-17 God’s Message came to me: “Son of man, I’m about to take from you the delight of your life—a real blow, I know. But, please, no tears. Keep your grief to yourself. No public mourning. Get dressed as usual and go about your work—none of the usual funeral rituals.”
18 I preached to the people in the morning. That evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I’d been told.
19 The people came to me, saying, “Tell us why you’re acting like this. What does it mean, anyway?”
20-21 So I told them, “God’s Word came to me, saying, ‘Tell the family of Israel, This is what God, the Master, says: I will desecrate my Sanctuary, your proud impregnable fort, the delight of your life, your heart’s desire. The children you left behind will be killed.
22-24 “‘Then you’ll do exactly as I’ve done. You’ll perform none of the usual funeral rituals. You’ll get dressed as usual and go about your work. No tears. But your sins will eat away at you from within and you’ll groan among yourselves. Ezekiel will be your example. The way he did it is the way you’ll do it.
“‘When this happens you’ll recognize that I am God, the Master.’”
25-27 “And you, son of man: The day I take away the people’s refuge, their great joy, the delight of their life, what they’ve most longed for, along with all their children—on that very day a survivor will arrive and tell you what happened to the city. You’ll break your silence and start talking again, talking to the survivor. Again, you’ll be an example for them. And they’ll recognize that I am God.”
