1 第三十年四月五日，我正在迦巴魯河邊的時候，天開了，我就看見 神的異象；那時，我是在被擄的人中間。 2 （當天是約雅斤王被擄後第五年四月五日。 3 在迦勒底人的地方，迦巴魯河邊，耶和華的話確實臨到布西的兒子以西結祭司。耶和華的手在那裡臨到他身上。）
四個活物
4 我觀望，看見有狂風從北方颳來，並有一塊閃耀著火燄的很大的雲，雲的周圍有光芒，在雲中的火燄裡，好像有發光的金屬。 5 在火中又有四個活物的形狀，牠們的樣子是這樣：牠們都有人的形狀。 6 牠們各有四個臉孔、四個翅膀。 7 牠們的腿是直的，腳掌像牛犢的蹄，都很燦爛，像擦亮了的銅。 8 在牠們四邊的翅膀下都有人的手。牠們四個活物的臉孔和翅膀是這樣的： 9 牠們的翅膀互相接觸，走動的時候，不必轉身，都是朝著臉孔的方向行走。 10 至於牠們臉孔的形狀，四個活物都各有一個人的臉孔，在右邊各有一個獅子的臉孔，在左邊各有一個牛的臉孔，此外各有一個鷹的臉孔； 11 牠們的臉孔就是這樣。牠們向上展開翅膀，各自用兩個翅膀互相接觸，用兩個翅膀遮蔽身體。 12 牠們都是朝著臉孔的方向行走。靈往哪裡去，牠們就往哪裡去。牠們走動的時候，都不必轉身。 13 至於四個活物的形狀，樣子像燒著的火炭，又像火把。火在四活物中間到處閃耀。這火很明亮，有閃電從火中發出。 14 四個活物往來奔走，好像閃電。
四個輪子
15 我觀看那些活物的時候，看見四個活物的旁邊都有一個觸地的輪子。 16 四個輪子的樣子與構造都是一個形狀，它們好像閃耀的水蒼玉，又好像輪子套著輪子。 17 輪子可以向四方移動，移動的時候，不必轉向。 18 輪輞很高，十分可畏，四個輪輞都布滿了眼睛。 19 活物走動的時候，牠們旁邊的輪子也隨著移動。活物從地上升起的時候，輪子也隨著升起。 20 靈往哪裡去，活物就往哪裡去，輪子也隨著牠們升起，因為活物的靈是在輪子裡面。 21 活物走動，輪子也隨著移動；活物站著不動，輪子也不動；活物從地上升起，輪子也隨著升起，因為活物的靈是在輪子裡面。
22 在活物的頭頂上面，有穹蒼的形狀，好像閃耀的水晶，十分可畏，在活物的頭頂上面張開。 23 在穹蒼下面，活物的翅膀伸直張開，互相接觸；各自用兩個翅膀遮蔽身體。 24 活物走動的時候，我聽見牠們翅膀的響聲，像洪水的聲音，也像全能者的聲音，又像軍隊喧嚷的聲音。牠們站著不動的時候，翅膀就垂下來。 25 有聲音從牠們頭頂上面的穹蒼發出來；牠們站著不動的時候，翅膀就垂下來。
耶和華的榮光
26 在牠們頭頂的穹蒼上面，有寶座的形狀，好像藍寶石的樣子。在寶座的形象上面，有一個樣子像人的形象。 27 我看見在那仿佛是他腰部以上，好像閃耀的金屬，又好像有火四面包圍。在那仿佛是他腰部以下，我又看見好像有火，光芒環繞著他。 28 下雨的日子，雲中彩虹的樣子怎樣，環繞他的光芒的樣子也怎樣。這就是耶和華榮耀的形狀的樣子。我一看見，就俯伏在地上，跟著聽見有說話的聲音。

1 Im dreißigsten Jahr, am fünften Tage des vierten Monats, da ich war unter den Gefangenen am Wasser Chebar, tat sich der Himmel auf, und Gott zeigte mir Gesichte.
2 Derselbe fünfte Tag des Monats war eben im fünften Jahr, nachdem Jojachin, der König Juda's, war gefangen weggeführt.
3 Da geschah das Wort des HERRN zu Hesekiel, dem Sohn Busis, dem Priester, im Lande der Chaldäer, am Wasser Chebar; daselbst kam die Hand des HERRN über ihn.
4 Und ich sah, und siehe, es kam ein ungestümer Wind von Mitternacht her mit einer großen Wolke voll Feuer, das allenthalben umher glänzte; und mitten in dem Feuer war es lichthell.
5 Und darin war es gestaltet wie vier Tiere, und dieselben waren anzusehen wie Menschen.
6 Und ein jegliches hatte vier Angesichter und vier Flügel.
7 Und ihre Beine standen gerade, und ihre Füße waren gleich wie Rinderfüße und glänzten wie helles glattes Erz.
8 Und sie hatten Menschenhände unter ihren Flügeln an ihren vier Seiten; denn sie hatten alle vier ihre Angesichter und ihre Flügel.
9 Und je einer der Flügel rührte an den andern; und wenn sie gingen, mußten sie nicht herumlenken, sondern wo sie hin gingen, gingen sie stracks vor sich.
10 Ihre Angesichter waren vorn gleich einem Menschen, und zur rechten Seite gleich einem Löwen bei allen vieren, und zur linken Seite gleich einem Ochsen bei allen vieren, und hinten gleich einem Adler bei allen vieren.
11 Und ihre Angesichter und Flügel waren obenher zerteilt, daß je zwei Flügel zusammenschlugen, und mit zwei Flügeln bedeckten sie ihren Leib.
12 Wo sie hin gingen, da gingen sie stracks vor sich, sie gingen aber, wo der sie hin trieb, und mußten nicht herumlenken, wenn sie gingen.
13 Und die Tiere waren anzusehen wie feurige Kohlen, die da brennen, und wie Fackeln; und das Feuer fuhr hin zwischen den Tieren und gab einen Glanz von sich, und aus dem Feuer gingen Blitze.
14 Die Tiere aber liefen hin und her wie der Blitz.
15 Als ich die Tiere so sah, siehe, da stand ein Rad auf der Erde bei den vier Tieren und war anzusehen wie vier Räder.
16 Und die Räder waren wie Türkis und waren alle vier eins wie das andere, und sie waren anzusehen, als wäre ein Rad im andern.
17 Wenn sie gehen wollten, konnten sie nach allen ihren vier Seiten gehen und sie mußten nicht herumlenken, wenn sie gingen.
18 Ihre Felgen und Höhe waren schrecklich; und ihre Felgen waren voller Augen um und um an allen vier Rädern.
19 Auch wenn die vier Tiere gingen, so gingen die Räder auch neben ihnen; und wenn die Tiere sich von der Erde emporhoben, so hoben sich die Räder auch empor.
20 Wo der Geist sie hin trieb, da gingen sie hin, und die Räder hoben sich neben ihnen empor; denn es war der Geist der Tiere in den Rädern.
21 Wenn sie gingen, so gingen diese auch; wenn sie standen, so standen diese auch; und wenn sie sich emporhoben von der Erde, so hoben sich auch die Räder neben ihnen empor; denn es war der Geist der Tiere in den Rädern.
22 Oben aber über den Tieren war es gestaltet wie ein Himmel, wie ein Kristall, schrecklich, gerade oben über ihnen ausgebreitet,
23 daß unter dem Himmel ihre Flügel einer stracks gegen den andern standen, und eines jeglichen Leib bedeckten zwei Flügel.
24 Und ich hörte die Flügel rauschen wie große Wasser und wie ein Getön des Allmächtigen, wenn sie gingen, und wie ein Getümmel in einem Heer. Wenn sie aber still standen, so ließen sie die Flügel nieder.
25 Und wenn sie stillstanden und die Flügel niederließen, so donnerte es in dem Himmel oben über ihnen.
26 Und über dem Himmel, so oben über ihnen war, war es gestaltet wie ein Saphir, gleichwie ein Stuhl; und auf dem Stuhl saß einer gleichwie ein Mensch gestaltet.
27 Und ich sah, und es war lichthell, und inwendig war es gestaltet wie ein Feuer um und um. Von seinen Lenden überwärts und unterwärts sah ich's wie Feuer glänzen um und um.
28 Gleichwie der Regenbogen sieht in den Wolken, wenn es geregnet hat, also glänzte es um und um. Dies war das Ansehen der Herrlichkeit des HERRN. Und da ich's gesehen hatte, fiel ich auf mein Angesicht und hörte einen reden.

1 (A)In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the exiles by (B)the Chebar canal, (C)the heavens were opened, and I saw (D)visions of God.[a] 2 On the fifth day of the month (it was (E)the fifth year of (F)the exile of King Jehoiachin), 3 the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel (G)the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by (H)the Chebar canal, and (I)the hand of the Lord was upon him there.
The Glory of the Lord
4 As I looked, behold, (J)a stormy wind came (K)out of the north, and a great cloud, with (L)brightness round it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, (M)as it were gleaming metal.[b] 5 And from the midst of it came the likeness of (N)four living creatures. (O)And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness, 6 (P)but each had four faces, and each of them had four wings. 7 Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf's foot. And they sparkled (Q)like burnished bronze. 8 Under their wings (R)on their four sides (S)they had human hands. And the four had their faces and their wings thus: 9 their wings touched one another. (T)Each one of them went straight forward, (U)without turning as they went. 10 As for the likeness of their faces, (V)each had a human face. The four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four had the face of an eagle. 11 Such were their faces. And their wings were spread out above. Each creature had two wings, each of which touched the wing of another, while (W)two covered their bodies. 12 (X)And each went straight forward. (Y)Wherever the spirit would go, they went, without turning as they went. 13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was (Z)like burning coals of fire, (AA)like the appearance of torches moving to and fro among the living creatures. (AB)And the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. 14 And the living creatures (AC)darted to and fro, (AD)like the appearance of a flash of lightning.
15 (AE)Now as I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, one for each of the four of them.[c] 16 (AF)As for the appearance of the wheels and their construction: their appearance was like (AG)the gleaming of beryl. (AH)And the four had the same likeness, their appearance and construction being as it were a wheel within a wheel. 17 (AI)When they went, they went (AJ)in any of their four directions[d] (AK)without turning as they went. 18 And their rims were tall and awesome, (AL)and the rims of all four were full of eyes all round. 19 (AM)And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; (AN)and when the living creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose. 20 (AO)Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, and the wheels rose along with them, (AP)for the spirit of the living creatures[e] was in the wheels. 21 (AQ)When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; (AR)and when those rose from the earth, the wheels rose along with them, (AS)for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
22 Over the heads of the living creatures there was (AT)the likeness of an expanse, shining like awe-inspiring (AU)crystal, spread out above their heads. 23 And under the expanse their wings were (AV)stretched out straight, one towards another. (AW)And each creature had two wings covering its body. 24 And when they went, I heard the sound of their wings (AX)like the sound of many waters, like (AY)the sound of the (AZ)Almighty, a sound of tumult (BA)like the sound of an army. When they stood still, they let down their wings. 25 And there came a voice from above (BB)the expanse over their heads. When they stood still, they let down their wings.
26 And above the expanse over their heads there was (BC)the likeness of a throne, (BD)in appearance (BE)like sapphire;[f] and seated above the likeness of a throne was (BF)a likeness with a human appearance. 27 And (BG)upwards from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were (BH)gleaming metal, like the appearance of fire enclosed all round. And downwards from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and (BI)there was brightness around him.[g] 28 Like the appearance of (BJ)the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all round.
Such was the appearance of the likeness of (BK)the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, (BL)I fell on my face, and I heard the voice of one speaking.
