6 于是，大流士王下令查阅保存在巴比伦库房里的典籍。 2 在玛代省亚马他城的宫内找到一卷书，书中记载如下：
3 “塞鲁士王元年，塞鲁士王就耶路撒冷的上帝之殿降下谕旨，要重建这殿作献祭之处，要奠立殿的地基。殿要高二十七米、宽二十七米， 4 每三层巨石加铺一层木料，经费由国库支付。 5 尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷上帝的殿里掳到巴比伦的金银器皿，都要归还到耶路撒冷上帝的殿里，放回原处。”
6 于是，大流士王降旨：
“河西总督达乃、示他·波斯乃，以及你们的同僚——河西的官员，要远离那殿！ 7 不要干涉上帝殿的建造，要让犹太人的省长和长老在原址上重建这座上帝的殿。 8 另外，我降旨命你们帮助犹太人的长老建造上帝的殿，要立刻从河西的王室税收中拨出款项作建殿之用，以免耽误工程。 9 他们向天上的上帝献燔祭时所需的公牛犊、公绵羊、绵羊羔、小麦、盐、酒和油，都要照耶路撒冷祭司的话天天供给他们，不得有误， 10 好让他们向天上的上帝献上蒙悦纳的祭物，并为王和众王子求寿。 11 我再降旨，若有人更改这谕旨，必从他的房屋抽掉一根大梁，把他钉在梁上挂起来，他的房屋也要沦为粪堆。 12 无论君王还是百姓，若有人擅自更改这命令或毁坏耶路撒冷的这殿，愿拣选这殿作其居所的上帝毁灭他！我大流士降此谕旨，务要速速遵行。”
建殿工程竣工
13 于是，河西总督达乃、示他·波斯乃及其同僚都认真执行大流士王的谕旨。 14 在哈该先知和易多的子孙撒迦利亚的劝勉下，犹太人的长老建造这殿，进展顺利。他们遵照上帝的命令和波斯王塞鲁士、大流士和亚达薛西的谕旨，完成了建殿工程。 15 大流士王第六年亚达月[a]三日，建殿工程竣工。
举行献殿礼
16 以色列人、祭司、利未人，以及其余流亡归来的人都满心欢喜地为上帝的殿举行奉献礼。 17 他们为此献上一百头公牛犊，二百只公绵羊和四百只绵羊羔，又照以色列十二支派的数目献上十二只公山羊，作全体以色列人的赎罪祭。 18 他们依照摩西律法书的规定，派祭司和利未人按班次在耶路撒冷事奉上帝。
守逾越节
19 一月十四日，流亡归来的人守逾越节。 20 祭司和利未人一起自洁，成为洁净的人，并为所有流亡归来的人、其他祭司同胞以及他们自己宰杀逾越节的羔羊。 21 从流亡之地归回的以色列人，连同所有弃绝当地民族的污秽行为、寻求以色列的上帝耶和华的人，一起吃这羔羊。 22 他们欢欢喜喜地守除酵节七天，因为耶和华使亚述王对他们心存善意，帮助他们重建以色列上帝的殿。

6 Тогава цар Дарий издаде наредба за преглеждане на архивите в съкровищницата на Вавилон. 2 В дворцовата част, която се намираше в областта Мидия, беше открит в Екбатана един свитък със следното съдържание:
„Удостоверява се, 3 че в първата година от царуването си цар Кир издаде наредба за Господния храм в Йерусалим: ‘Храмът да бъде възстановен, за да се принасят жертви на това място; той да бъде издигнат върху старите основи на височина шестдесет лакътя и на ширина – шестдесет лакътя. 4 При това върху три реда големи камъни да се постави един ред ново дърво. Разноските да се покрият от царския дом. 5 Също така златните и сребърните съдове, които Навуходоносор беше взел от храма в Йерусалим и отнесъл във Вавилон, да бъдат върнати отново в йерусалимския храм, за да бъдат положени отново на мястото си в Божия дом.

6 Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.
2 And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:
3 In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;
4 With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king's house:
5 And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.
6 Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shetharboznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be ye far from thence:
7 Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.
8 Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.
9 And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:
10 That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.
11 Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.
12 And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.
13 Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shetharboznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did speedily.
14 And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.
15 And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.
16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.
17 And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.
18 And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.
19 And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month.
20 For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.
21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,
22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

6 Koning Darius liet inderdaad een onderzoek instellen naar deze zaak in de archieven van Babel. Daar bewaarde men officiële documenten. 2 Uiteindelijk werd in de vestingstad Ekbatana, in het gewest Medië, een document gevonden met de volgende inhoud:
3 ‘In het eerste regeringsjaar van koning Kores vaardigde deze een bevel uit betreffende het huis van God in Jeruzalem. Die tempel moet worden herbouwd en zijn fundamenten moeten worden gelegd op de plaats van de oude fundamenten. Dit heiligdom zal dertig meter hoog en dertig meter breed worden. Het zal een plaats zijn waar de Judeeërs hun offers kunnen brengen. 4 De muren moeten bestaan uit drie lagen steenblokken en één laag hout. Alle gemaakte kosten zullen worden vergoed uit de koninklijke schatkist. 5 De gouden en zilveren voorwerpen die Nebukadnezar uit de tempel in Jeruzalem heeft meegenomen en naar Babel heeft gebracht, zullen worden teruggebracht naar Jeruzalem. Zij zullen weer, als vroeger, een plaats krijgen in de tempel.’
6 Koning Darius stuurde daarop de volgende boodschap naar gouverneur Thathnai, Sthar-Boznai en hun collegaʼs ten westen van de Eufraat: 7 ‘U mag het werk aan de tempel in Jeruzalem niet verhinderen. Laten de gouverneur van Juda en de andere leiders dit heiligdom op zijn oorspronkelijke plaats herbouwen en val hen niet lastig. 8 Bovendien beveel ik dat u de bouwkosten volledig en zonder uitstel moet betalen aan de leiders van Juda. Gebruik daarvoor het geld van de belasting die in uw gebied wordt geheven. 9 Geef de priesters elke dag wat zij zeggen nodig te hebben: jonge stieren, rammen, lammeren voor de brandoffers aan de God van de hemel, en tarwe, zout, wijn en olijfolie. 10 Dan zullen zij de God van de hemel offergaven brengen en bidden voor mij en mijn zonen. 11 Iedereen die dit bevel op een of andere manier overtreedt, zal worden opgehangen aan een galg, gemaakt van balken uit zijn eigen huis! En van zijn huis zal niets dan een ruïne overblijven. 12 De God die de stad Jeruzalem heeft uitgekozen, zal iedere koning en elk volk vernietigen die dit bevel overtreedt en de tempel verwoest. 13 Gouverneur Thathnai, Sthar-Boznai en hun collegaʼs hielden zich stipt aan het bevel van koning Darius. 14 De leiders van Juda zetten de bouw met succes voort. Zij werden daarbij aangemoedigd door de prediking van de profeten Haggai en Zacharia, de zoon van Iddo. Eindelijk waren zij klaar met het werk dat de God van Israël en Kores, Darius en Arthahsasta, koningen van Perzië, hun hadden opgedragen. 15 De tempel kwam gereed op de derde dag van de maand Adar in het zesde regeringsjaar van koning Darius. 16 Met grote vreugde vierden de Israëlieten, priesters, Levieten en alle ex-ballingen de inwijding van het huis van God. 17 Ter ere van die gelegenheid offerden zij honderd stieren, tweehonderd rammen en vierhonderd lammeren. Zij offerden ook nog twaalf geitenbokken als zondoffer voor de twaalf stammen van Israël.
18 Toen werden de priesters en de Levieten ingedeeld in groepen voor de eredienst in de tempel, zoals het is voorgeschreven in het boek van Mozes. 19 De teruggekeerde ballingen vierden Pesach op de veertiende dag van de eerste maand. 20 Want tegen die tijd hadden alle priesters en Levieten de voorgeschreven reiniging ondergaan. Zij slachtten de paaslammeren, voor allen die in ballingschap waren geweest en voor hun broeders, de priesters, en voor zichzelf. 21 Veel heidenen die in Juda woonden, keerden zich af van hun slechte praktijken en sloten zich aan bij de Israëlieten. Zij wilden ook de Here, de God van Israël, aanbidden. Samen met het hele volk Israël aten zij van de paasmaaltijd. 22 Met grote vreugde vierden zij het Feest van de Ongezuurde Broden, zeven dagen lang. Want de Here had hun vreugde gegeven, omdat Hij ervoor had gezorgd dat de koning van Assyrië hen steunde bij de bouw van de tempel van Israëls God.
