19 ピラトはイエスを連れて行かせ、ムチ打ちを命じた。 2 兵士たちはピラトが命じたことを行った。イエスには紫色のガウンを着せ、鋭いとげが無数にあるイバラで編まれた冠を頭にかぶせた。 3 彼らはイエスの元へ何度も来て、こう言った。「おーこれは、これは！ユダヤ人の王様ではございませんか～！敬礼！」そして、何度もイエスの顔を殴った。
4 ピラトはもう一度外に出てきて、ユダヤの指導者に言った。「見ろ！今、お前たちのもとへイエスを引き渡す。だがいいか！私の目には彼は無罪だ！」 5 すると奥から、イバラの冠で額から血を流しながら紫色のガウンをまとっているイエスが出てきた。ピラトは彼らに向かって言った。「これがその男だ！」
6 イエスを見て、祭司長たちと神殿警察は叫んだ。「殺せ〰！十字架で殺せ〰！」
だが、ピラトは答えた。「なっ！彼は無罪だぞ！そこまで言うのならお前たちの手で十字架につけろ！」
7 ユダヤの指導者が答えた。「我々の掟では死刑です！自分を神の子と言ったのですから！」
8 それを聞いてピラトは恐ろしくなった。 9 そこで彼は官邸の中に戻り、イエスに尋ねた。「おぬしは、どこから来た？」イエスは彼に答えなかった。 10 ピラトは言った。「この私を無視するか？私の命令ひとつで、おぬしを釈放することも、十字架につけることもできるのだぞ」
11 イエスは答えた。「わたしは無実だからこそ、あなたがわたしを殺すのは過ちとなる。だが、処刑するためにあなたに与えられたその力は、神から来ている。だからこそ、あなたにわたしを差し出した者はもっと大きな過ちを犯した」
12 この後、ピラト総督はなんとかしてイエスを釈放しようとした。しかし、ユダヤ指導者たちは叫んだ。「自分を王にする者はカイザル様に敵対している。もし、この男を釈放するのであれば、あなたはカイザル様と友ではないということだ！」
13 これを聞いたピラト総督は、イエスを敷石【アラム語で敷石をガバタという】と呼ばれる場所へ連れて行った。 14 過越祭前日の正午ごろだった・・・ピラト総督はユダヤ指導者たちに告げた。「さあ、おぬしらの王だ！」
15 彼らは叫んだ。「十字架に連れてけ〰！連れてけ〰！十字架にかけて殺せ〰！」
ピラトは彼らに聞いた。「おぬしたちの王だぞ！？十字架にかけて殺したいのか？」
祭司長たちが答えた。「我々の唯一の王はローマ帝王です！」
16 これではしかたがない。ピラト総督も折れ、十字架につけて処刑するよう兵士に命じてイエスを連れて行かせた。
イエスが十字架に釘付けにされる
（マタイ27:32-44; マルコ15:21-32; ルカ23:26-43）
17 イエスは、自分がかかる十字架を「頭がい骨」と呼ばれる場所に運んだ。（アラム語では、この場所の名前は「ゴルゴタ」と呼ばれた） 18 そこに着くと、イエスの手足には太い釘が打ち込まれ、十字架にはりつけにされた。右にも1人、左にも1人と、イエスの両側にも犯罪者が釘づけにされた。
19 イエスの頭の上には罪状が書かれて掲げられた。そこには、——「ユダヤ人の王・ナザレのイエス」——と書かれていた。この罪状書きはピラト総督が決めた。 20 罪状書きはアラム語、ラテン語、ギリシャ語で書かれていた。たくさんのユダヤ人が、この罪状書きを読んだ。イエスが十字架にかけられた場所は、都から近かったからだ。
21 祭司長がピラトに言った。「『ユダヤ人の王』とは書くな。『自称ユダヤ人の王』と書いてくれ」
22 ピラトは答えた。「私が書いたことは変えぬ」
23 兵士たちがイエスを十字架に釘づけにした後、兵士たちは、イエスが身に付けていた服を4等分にして分け合った。彼の長いシャツも取り上げた。そのシャツは上から下まで1枚の布で織られていたシャツだった。 24 兵士たちは互いに言った。「こいつは裂いちゃいけないだろう。くじで誰がもらえるか決めようぜ」これは、聖書が言っていることの完全な意味を明らかにしている。
「♪彼らはわたしの服を分け合い、
わたしが着ていたもののために、くじ引きをした」
兵士たちは、まさにこの言葉の通りのことを行ったのだ。
25 十字架のそばには、イエスの母マリアとその姉妹、そして、クロパの妻マリアとマグダラのマリアが立っていた。 26 イエスは自分の母親を見た。またイエスが愛しているその弟子がそこに立っているのを見た。イエスは母親に言った。「お母さん、彼を見て。これより彼があなたの息子です」 27 それからイエスはその弟子に言った。「これより彼女はあなたの母親だ」その日以来、その弟子は、イエスの母を自分の家に引き取った。
イエスの死

28 その後、イエスは全てが完了したのだということが分かった。聖書のお告げが実現するために、彼はこう言った。「のどが渇いた」 29 イエスのかかる十字架の近くには、酸っぱいぶどう酒がたっぷり入ったツボがあった。兵士たちは海綿をぶどう酒にひたし、ヒソプの木の枝の先っぽにそれを付け、イエスの口元に差し出した。 30 それを口にした直後、「完了した！」とイエスは言い、頭を落として息を引き取った。
31 翌日が特別な休日だったため、この日は休日の準備の日だった。ユダヤの指導者たちは、休日まで十字架に体が掛けられたままになるのが嫌だったので、十字架にかけられている男たちの脚を折るように命じてほしいとピラト総督に言った。そうすれば早く殺すことが出来たからだ。そして、さっさと十字架から遺体を降ろしてほしいとも頼んだ。 32 さっそく兵士たちが来て、イエスの両側の十字架にかかっている2人の男の脚を折った。 33 しかし、イエスに近づいた兵士たちは、既に死んでるイエスの姿を見たので、イエスの脚を折らなかった。
34 だが、兵士の1人がイエスのわき腹に槍を突き刺した。するとすぐに、血と水が体から流れ出てきたのだ。 35 これを伝えている者は確かにこれを見た。だからこれが真実であると彼自身も確信を持っているのだ。こうして彼が真実を伝えたので、あなたもいま、信じることができている。 36 これらのことが起きたのは、聖書の言っていることに完全な意味を与え、実現するためだった。「彼の骨はどれも折られることにはならない」 37 また、「人々は彼らが突き刺した方を見る」
埋葬されるイエス
（マタイ27:57-61; マルコ15:42-47; ルカ23:50-56）
38 この後、アリマタヤから来たヨセフという男が、ピラト総督にイエスの遺体の引き取りを願い出た。（ヨセフはイエスを信じる者だったが、ユダヤ指導者たちが怖かったので誰にも言っていなかった）ピラト総督が、ヨセフにイエスの体を引き取る許可を与えたので、彼はその場にやって来てイエスの遺体を引き取った。
39 ニコデモもヨセフと一緒に行った。ニコデモとは、以前イエスのところに来て、夜中イエスと共に話した男だった。彼は没薬とアロエを混ぜた香料を約30kg分持ってきた。 40 彼ら2人の男は、イエスの遺体を引き取り、香料を含ませた麻布をイエスの遺体に巻きつけた。（これは、ユダヤ人が人々を葬る方法である） 41 イエスが十字架の上で殺された場所には庭があった。その庭の中には、新しい墓があった。今までに誰もそこに埋葬されたことがなかった。 42 墓はすぐ近くにあったため、男はその墓にイエスを入れた。休日の準備をするユダヤ人の日だった。そのため彼らにはそこまでの時間がなかったのだ。

19 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.
7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
8 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.
13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was Jesus Of Nazareth The King Of The Jews.
20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
