殺され、生き返る預言者
11 それから私は、杖のような物差しを手渡されました。それで神の聖所と祭壇を点検し、また、そこで礼拝している人の数を調べるように、と命令されました。 2 さらに、こう注意されました。「神殿の外庭は測る必要はありません。そこは外国人に任せられるからです。彼らは四十二か月の間、この聖なる都を踏みにじって荒らします。
3 それからわたしは二人の証人を任命し、特別な力を授けて、荒布を着たまま千二百六十日間、預言させます。」 4 この二人の預言者とは、全地の神の前にある二本のオリーブの木、また二つの燭台（教会）のことです。 5 もし彼らに害を加えようとする者があれば、彼らの口から吹き出した火で焼き滅ぼされてしまいます。 6 彼らは、その三年半の預言のあいだ中、大空を閉じて雨を降らせない力を与えられます。また、川や海を血に変えたり、思いのままに何度でも、あらゆる災害を地上に下す力も持っています。 7 しかし、三年半にわたる証言の期間が終わると、底なしの穴から出て来る独裁者の挑戦を受け、殺されることになります。 8-9 その死体は、三日半、あのいまわしいソドムやエジプトと並び称される都エルサレムの大通りにさらしものにされます。彼らの主もこの都で、十字架につけられて殺されました。彼らの死体を葬る人はなく、諸国からエルサレムを訪れた人々が、その死体に群がって見物します。 10 彼らが殺されたことで、世界中が喜び合うでしょう。なぜなら、この二人の預言者によって、非常に痛めつけられたからです。 11 ところが、どうでしょう。三日半たって、神からのいのちの霊がその二つの死体に入ると、彼らは立ち上がるのです。それを見て、すべての人が恐怖におののきます。 12 その時、天から、「のぼって来なさい」という大きな声が響きます。すると二人の預言者は、敵の目の前で雲に包まれ、天にのぼって行きました。 13 ちょうどその時刻に、恐ろしい地震が起こって、都の十分の一の建物が破壊され、死者は七千人にのぼりました。生き残った人も、恐怖に打ちひしがれて、天の神をあがめました。
14 第二の災いが過ぎ去りました。しかし、第三の災いが待ちかまえています。
15 第七の天使がラッパを吹き鳴らすと、天から大きな声が響きました。「世界はすべて、主とキリストの手に渡った。主は永遠に支配者である。」 16 すると、神の前の席にいた二十四人の長老が、地にひれ伏して礼拝し、声をそろえて神を賛美しました。 17 「今も、昔も存在される全能の神、主に心から感謝します。あなたが偉大な力を発揮して、世界を支配する王となられたからです。 18 諸国の民はあなたに怒りを燃やしましたが、今度は、あなたの怒りが下される番です。今や、地を滅ぼす原因となった者たちが滅ぼされる時が来たのです。死者がさばかれ、あなたに忠実に仕えた者が報いを受ける時です。預言者も、クリスチャンも、すべてあなたの名をほめたたえる者は、小さい者も大きい者も、あなたから報いを受けるのです。」
19 その時、天にある神の神殿が開け放たれ、中に契約の箱が見えました。いなずまが走り、雷鳴がとどろき、大粒の雹が降って、全世界は大地震で揺れ動きました。

2人の証人
11 それから私は歩くために使う杖と同じぐらいの長さの測りを与えられ、こう言われた。「神の神殿と祭壇を測りに行きなさい。そこで賛美してる人の数を数えなさい。 2 だが神殿の外の庭は測るな。放っておけ。そこは外国人に与えられた。聖なる都市を42カ月間制圧するために彼らに与えられたのだ。 3 それからわたしは、わたしの証人である2人の預言者に力を与える。そこで彼らは1260日間、預言をするだろう。彼らはボロボロな着物をはおっている」
4 この2人の証人とは2本のオリーブの木であり、地上の王である神の前に立っている2つのランプスタンドだった。 5 もし誰かが証人たちを痛めつけようとするなら、証人たちの口から火が出て敵を殺す。彼らを痛めつけようとする者は、誰でもこのように殺されなければならない。 6 この証人たちは自分たちが預言している間に、空から降る雨を止める力がある。この証人たちは、水を血に変える力がある。彼らはどんな災難も地上に送る力がある。彼らは思うがままにそれを起こすことができるのだ。
7 この2人の証人が自分のメッセージを伝え終えると、獣が彼らに立ち向かってくる。この獣は底のない穴から出てきて、彼ら2人を打ち負かして殺してしまう。 8 この証人である2人の遺体は、大都市の道ばたに置かれる。この都市を「ソドム」、または「エジプト」と呼ばれる。それは悪の渦巻く場所のようだからだ。この都市は神が殺された場所だ。 9 全ての人種、部族、言語、国は証人である2人の遺体を3日と半日の間、眺めることとなる。人々は彼ら2人の遺体を埋葬することを否定する。 10 この2人が死んだことで、地上にいる全員がハッピーになる。人々はパーティーを開いて、お互いに贈り物を与え合うのだ。彼らがこのように喜んだのは、この2人の預言者がたくさんの苦しみを地上で暮らす者にもたらしたからだ。
11 だが3日半が経った後、神は2人の証人にもう一度いのちを与える。彼らは自分の足で立ち上がると、彼らを見た者は一人残らず恐れでいっぱいになった。 12 それから2人の証人は、天からの大きな声を聞いた。「上に来なさい！」すると2人は天に上がって雲の中に入っていった。敵は2人が上がっていくところを見た。
13 それと同時に大きな地震が起きた。都市の10分の1が壊され、その地震によって7千人の人が殺された。生き残った者たちは、ものすごく怯えていた。そして彼らは天にいる神に栄光をささげた。
14 2つ目の恐怖は過ぎ去った。3つ目の恐怖が近づいて来る。
7つ目のトランペットが鳴る
15 7人目の天使が自分のトランペットを吹いた・・・すると、天から叫んでいる多くの声を聞いた。その声はこう言った。
「この世の王国は、今をもって神とメシヤの王国となった。
神が永遠に支配する」
16 それから24人の長老たちがひれ伏して、神を賛美した。この長老たちとは神の前にある自分たちの座に座っている人たちだ。 17 長老たちが言った。
「圧倒的な力を持つ王である神よ、私たちはあなたに感謝します。
あなたこそが今おられ、今までもおられた方だ。
あなた様が自分の偉大な力を使い、
支配をしてくださったことを私たちは感謝しています。
18 この世の人たちは怒っていたが、
これからはあなたの怒りの番です。
今こそ死んだ者が裁かれる時です。
今こそ、預言者であるあなたの多くの召使いに、
聖なる人たちに、人々に、偉大な者と小さき者に、
リスペクトする者に、報酬を与える時です！
今こそ、この世を滅ぼした者を滅ぼす時です！」
19 次に天にある神の神殿が開かれた。彼の神殿からは、契約の箱を見ることができる。その後にイナズマが光り、騒音が鳴り響き、カミナリが鳴り、地震が起き、たくさんの雹 が降った。

11 Mi fu data allora una canna, una specie di bastone, di quelli che si adoperano per misurare; e mi fu detto: «Àlzati, misura il tempio di Dio e lʼaltare, e conta quelli che sono là ad adorare. 2 Ma non misurare il cortile abbandonato nelle mani degli stranieri, che calpesteranno la città santa per quarantadue mesi. 3 Ma io manderò due miei testimoni, vestiti di sacco, a fare profezie per milleduecentosessanta giorni».
4 Questi due profeti sono i due ulivi e i due candelabri che stanno davanti al Signore della terra. 5 Se qualcuno cerca di far loro del male, sarà ucciso da un fuoco che esce dalla loro bocca. 6 Essi hanno il potere di chiudere il cielo, perché non piova durante i tre anni e mezzo della loro predicazione, e possono trasformare i fiumi e gli oceani in sangue, e colpire la terra con qualsiasi catastrofe, ogni volta che vorranno.
7 Quando poi avranno finito di annunciare la mia parola, per tre anni e mezzo, la bestia che sale dallʼabisso dichiarerà loro guerra, li vincerà e li ucciderà. 8-9 E per tre giorni e mezzo i loro cadaveri saranno esposti sulla piazza della grande città che porta i nomi simbolici di «Sòdoma» ed «Egitto», dove il loro Signore fu crocifisso. Non si permetterà a nessuno di seppellirli, e gente dʼogni popolo, razza, lingua e nazione resterà a guardare i loro cadaveri. 10 Allora ci sarà una festa mondiale, gli abitanti della terra gioiranno, si scambieranno regali e faranno inviti per celebrare la morte dei due profeti, che erano stati per loro un vero e proprio tormento!
11 Ma dopo quei tre giorni e mezzo, lo spirito di vita verrà da Dio ed entrerà in loro e li farà rialzare in piedi. Allora sì che tutti saranno colti da un grande spavento! 12 Poi una gran voce dirà dal cielo: «Venite, salite!» Ed essi saliranno in cielo dentro una nuvola, sotto gli occhi dei loro nemici.
13 Nel medesimo istante ci sarà un violento terremoto, che farà crollare la decima parte della città, causando la morte di settemila persone. Allora tutti i superstiti, profondamente scossi, daranno gloria al Dio del Cielo.
14 La seconda sventura è passata, ma ecco che sta per sopraggiungere la terza!
La settima tromba
15 Non appena il settimo angelo suonò, si udirono forti voci dal cielo, che dicevano: «Lʼimpero di questo mondo è passato nelle mani del nostro Signore e del suo Cristo, ed egli regnerà per i secoli eterni!»
16 E i ventiquattro anziani che stanno davanti a Dio seduti sui loro troni, si prostrarono bocconi e adorarono Dio, 17 dicendo: «Ti ringraziamo, o Signore Dio Onnipotente, che sei e che fosti, perché ora hai preso possesso del tuo grande potere e hai cominciato a regnare. 18 Le nazioni erano infuriate contro di te, ma è suonata lʼora della resa dei conti: è tempo di giudicare i morti e di ricompensare i tuoi servi, i profeti, e tutti quelli che, piccoli e grandi, sono tuoi e temono il tuo nome. È tempo di distruggere quelli che mandano in rovina la terra!»
19 Allora il tempio di Dio che è in cielo, si aprì e apparve lʼarca della sua alleanza dentro il santuario: vi furono lampi, grida, tuoni e una forte grandinata; e il mondo fu scosso da un grande terremoto.
Revelation 11

11 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
11 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
