イエスの裁判、十字架の死、埋葬
15 朝早く、祭司長と長老、それにユダヤ教の教師たちからなる最高議会の全議員が、次の手はずをあれこれ協議した結果、イエスを縛ったまま、ローマ総督ピラトに引き渡すことに決まりました。
2 「おまえはユダヤ人の王なのか」というピラトの尋問に、イエスは、「そのとおりです」とだけお答えになりました。 3 そこで祭司長たちは、あることないことをあげつらい、イエスを訴えました。 4 これを聞いたピラトは、「どうして何も言わないのか。あんなにまで訴えているのに平気なのか」と尋ねました。 5 しかしイエスは、ひとこともお答えになりません。これにはピラトも驚き、あきれてしまいました。
6 さてピラトは、毎年、過越の祭りには、人々の願うままにユダヤ人の囚人を一人、釈放してやることにしていました。 7 たまたまこの時、暴動で人殺しをし、投獄されていた暴徒たちの中に、バラバという男がいました。 8 群衆はピラトの前に押し寄せ、例年どおり囚人を釈放するよう迫りました。 9 そこで、ピラトは尋ねました。「『ユダヤ人の王』を釈放してほしいのか。おまえたちが赦してほしいのはこの男か。」 10 ピラトがこう言ったのは、イエスが捕らえられたのは、彼の人気をねたむ祭司長たちのでっち上げによるとにらんだからです。
11 ところが、祭司長たちも抜かりはありません。たくみに群衆をけしかけ、イエスではなくバラバの釈放を要求させたのです。
12 「バラバは釈放するとして、おまえたちが王と呼んでいるあの男はいったいどうするつもりか。」
13 「十字架につけろ！」
14 「なぜだ。あの男が、いったいどんな悪事を働いたというのだ。」それでも群衆はおさまりません。なおも大声で、「十字架につけろ！」と叫び続けます。 15 ピラトは群衆のきげんをそこねたくなかったので、結局、バラバを釈放することにしました。イエスのほうは、先端に鉛のついたむちで打たせてから、十字架につけるために引き渡しました。
16 ローマ兵たちはイエスを総督官邸内の兵営に引き立てて行き、全部隊を召集しました。 17 その目の前で、イエスに紫色のガウンを着せ、長く鋭いとげのあるいばらで冠を作り、頭にかぶせると、 18 「おい、ユダヤ人の王よ」とはやしたて、皮肉たっぷりに敬礼しました。 19 それから、頭を葦の棒でたたいたり、つばをかけたり、ひれ伏して拝むまねをしたりして、からかいました。 20 こうしてさんざん笑いものにしたあげく、紫色のガウンをはぎとってもとの着物を着せ、いよいよ十字架につけるために引き出しました。 21 途中、ちょうど田舎から来合わせていたクレネ人のシモンという男に、むりやりイエスの十字架を背負わせました〔シモンは、アレキサンデルとルポスの父〕。
22 兵士たちは、イエスをゴルゴタ〔どくろ〕と呼ばれる場所に連れて行きました。 23 そこで、没薬を混ぜたぶどう酒（痛みを和らげる飲み物）を飲ませようとしましたが、イエスはお断りになりました。 24 兵士たちは、イエスを十字架につけてしまうと、さっそくくじを引き、その着物を分け合いました。 25 イエスが十字架につけられたのは、朝の九時ごろでした。
26 イエスの頭上には罪状書きが掲げられ、それには「ユダヤ人の王」と書いてありました。
27 その日、二人の強盗も、イエスといっしょに十字架につけられました。二人の十字架はイエスの両側に立てられました。 28 こうして、「彼は罪人の一人に数えられた」（イザヤ53・12）という聖書のことばどおりになったのです。
29-30 刑場のそばを通りかかった人たちは、大げさな身ぶりで、「神殿を打ちこわして三日で建て直すんだってなあ。そんなに偉いなら、たった今、十字架から降りて来いよ。自分を救ったらどうなんだ！」と、口ぎたなくイエスをののしりました。 31 祭司長やユダヤ人の指導者たちも、同じようにあざけりました。「人を救っても、自分は救えないというわけか。」 32 「キリスト様。イスラエルの王様。十字架から降りてみろ。そうしたら信じてやろうじゃないか。」イエスの両側で十字架につけられていた強盗までが、悪口をあびせました。
33 さて正午になったころ、あたりが急に暗くなり、一面の闇におおわれました。それが三時間も続きました。 34 三時ごろイエスは大声で、「エリ、エリ、レマ、サバクタニ」と叫ばれました。それは、「わが神、わが神。どうしてわたしをお見捨てになったのですか」という意味です。 35 近くでその声を聞いた人の中には、預言者エリヤを呼んでいるのだと思った者もいました。 36 その時、一人の男がさっと駆け寄り、海綿に酸いぶどう酒を含ませると、それを葦の棒につけて差し出しました。そして、「さあ、エリヤがこの男を降ろしに来るかどうか、とくと見ようじゃないか」と言いました。 37 イエスはもう一度大声で叫ぶと、息を引き取られました。
38 するとどうでしょう。神殿の幕が、上から下まで真っ二つに裂けたのです。 39 十字架のそばに立っていたローマ軍の士官は、イエスの死の有様を見て、「この方はほんとうに神の子だった」と言いました。
40 数人の婦人が、遠くから恐る恐るこの様子をながめていました。それは、マグダラのマリヤ、小ヤコブとヨセの母マリヤ、サロメをはじめ、何人かの婦人たちで、 41 イエスがガリラヤにおられた時、いつも仕えていた人たちでした。ほかにもたくさんの婦人が、イエスといっしょにエルサレムまで来ていました。
42-43 以上の出来事はすべて、安息日の前日に起こったことです。その日の夕方、一人の人がピラトのところへ行き、勇気を奮い起こして、イエスの遺体を引き取りたいと申し出ました。その人はアリマタヤ出身のヨセフといい、ユダヤの最高議会の有力な議員で、神の国が来ることを熱心に待ち望んでいました。
44 ピラトは、イエスがもう死んでしまったとは信じられず、ローマ軍の士官を呼びつけ、問いただしました。 45 士官が死を確認したので、それならよいと遺体の引き取りを許可しました。
46 ヨセフは亜麻布を買って来ると、イエスの遺体を十字架から取り降ろし、布でくるんで、岩をくり抜いた墓の中に納め、入口は石を転がしてふさぎました。 47 マグダラのマリヤとヨセの母マリヤとは、イエスが葬られるのをじっと見守っていました。

彼拉多审问耶稣
15 第二天一大早，祭司长、年长的犹太首领和律法师们以及全议会的人们定好了对付耶稣的计划。他们叫人把耶稣绑起来，押到彼拉多那里去。
2 彼拉多审问耶稣。他问∶“你是犹太人的王吗？”
耶稣回答说∶“你说的对。”
3 祭司长们列举了耶稣的许多罪状。 4 彼拉多又问道∶“难道你什么也不说吗？你看，他们控告你这么多事情！”
5 但是耶稣仍旧沉默，这让彼拉多感到十分惊讶。
彼拉多想放却放不了耶稣
6 每逢逾越节期间，按照惯例，总督都会按众人的要求，释放一名囚犯。 7 有个叫巴拉巴的人正和叛乱的同伙们一起关在牢里，这些人在叛乱中杀过人。 8 人们来请求彼拉多，请他像以往一样释放囚犯。
9 彼拉多问他们∶“你们是要我释放犹太人之王吗？” 10 他这样问，是因为他知道祭司长们把耶稣交给他是出于嫉妒。 11 可是祭司长们煽动人们，让他们请求释放巴拉巴。
12 彼拉多又问道∶“但是，我该怎样处置你们称为犹太王的那个人呢？”
13 人们大声喊道∶“把他钉死在十字架上。”
14 彼拉多说∶“为什么呢？他犯了什么罪？”
可是人们叫喊得更响了∶“把他钉死在十字架上！”
15 彼拉多为了取悦众人，释放了巴拉巴。他下令鞭打耶稣，然后叫士兵把他钉死在十字架上。
16 士兵们把耶稣带到总督的府邸，然后集合起全营的士兵。 17 他们给耶稣披了件紫袍子，又用荆棘编了个王冠戴在他头上。 18 然后向耶稣敬礼，嘴里喊着∶“我们向您敬礼，犹太王！” 19 他们不停地用棍子打耶稣的头，朝他吐唾沫，还跪在地上给他磕头，假装把他当王来荣耀他。 20 他们戏弄完了耶稣，就把紫袍子从他身上剥下来，给他穿上他自己的衣服，然后他们才把耶稣带出来，准备将他钉在十字架上。
耶稣被钉在十字架上
21 这些士兵带着耶稣走到半路时，遇见了一个刚从乡下来的古利奈人，他名叫西门，是亚力山大和鲁孚的父亲，士兵们强迫他背着耶稣的十字架。 22 他们把耶稣带到一个叫各各他 [a]的地方。 23 士兵们把掺了没药 [b]的酒拿给耶稣，可耶稣不肯喝。 24 他们把耶稣钉在了十字架上，又用掷骰子的方式瓜分了耶稣的衣服。
25 上午九点钟时，耶稣被钉在十字架上。 26 一个牌子上写着耶稣的罪名，上面有“犹太人之王”几个字。 27 他们还把两个强盗也钉在耶稣旁边的十字架上，一个在左边，另一个在右边。
28 [c] 29 过路的人也辱骂耶稣，摇着头说∶“哈，你就是那个要毁大殿并在三天之内重建的人。 30 救救你自己吧，从十字架上下来吧！”
31 祭司长和律法师们也在那里同样地戏弄耶稣。他们彼此说∶“他拯救了别人，却救不了自己！ 32 如果他真正是基督、以色列王，他就该从十字架上下来救救他自己，让我们亲眼看看，也好相信他呀。”和耶稣一起被钉在十字架上的强盗也侮辱他。
耶稣之死
33 从中午一直到下午三点，遍地都陷入了黑暗之中。 34 三点钟时，耶稣大声呼喊∶“以罗伊、以罗伊 [d]、拉马撒巴各大尼。”意思是“我的上帝！我的上帝！您为什么抛弃了我？” [e]
35 站在那里的一些人听见了，便说∶“听啊，他在呼喊以利亚 [f]呢！”
36 在场的一个人跑去找来一块海绵，蘸了些酸酒，然后把它绑在棍子上，伸到耶稣嘴边，让他喝。他说∶“等一等，让咱们看看以利亚会不会来，把他从十字架上解救下来。”
37 耶稣一声大喊，就死去了。
38 与此同时，大殿里的帘幕从上到下一裂两半。 39 那个罗马军官 [g]站在十字架前目睹了所发生的这一切，就说道∶“这人真的是上帝之子啊！”
40 一些女子站在远处观望，她们当中有马利亚抹大拉，雅各和约西的母亲马利亚（雅各是她的小儿子），还有撒罗米。 41 耶稣在加利利的时候，这几个人就都跟着他并且照顾过他。还有其他许多和他一起到耶路撒冷来的女子也站在远处观望。
埋葬耶稣
42 此时是晚上了，这天是预备日（也就是安息日的前一天）， 43 亚利马太的约瑟来了。他在犹太议会里是一个很受尊敬的人物，同时也在等待着上帝的王国的降临。约瑟大胆地去找彼拉多，向他要耶稣的尸体。 44 彼拉多听说耶稣这么快就死了，不禁吃了一惊。他把那军官叫来，问他耶稣是不是已死了。 45 彼拉多听了军官的报告，就把耶稣的尸体交给约瑟。 46 约瑟买了些亚麻布，把耶稣从十字架上取下，用亚麻布裹好，放进用岩石凿成的墓穴里，然后滚过一块石头挡住墓门。 47 抹大拉的马利亚和约瑟的母亲马利亚都看清了安放耶稣的地方。

15 And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.
2 And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto them, Thou sayest it.
3 And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
4 And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
5 But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
6 Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.
7 And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
8 And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.
9 But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.
11 But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
13 And they cried out again, Crucify him.
14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
16 And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.
17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
18 And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.
23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.
24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.
25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over, The King Of The Jews.
27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
29 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
36 And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
45 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
46 And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.
Mark 15
The Message
Standing Before Pilate
15 At dawn’s first light, the high priests, with the religious leaders and scholars, arranged a conference with the entire Jewish Council. After tying Jesus securely, they took him out and presented him to Pilate.
2-3 Pilate asked him, “Are you the ‘King of the Jews’?”
He answered, “If you say so.” The high priests let loose a barrage of accusations.
4-5 Pilate asked again, “Aren’t you going to answer anything? That’s quite a list of accusations.” Still, he said nothing. Pilate was impressed, really impressed.
6-10 It was a custom at the Feast to release a prisoner, anyone the people asked for. There was one prisoner called Barabbas, locked up with the insurrectionists who had committed murder during the uprising against Rome. As the crowd came up and began to present its petition for him to release a prisoner, Pilate anticipated them: “Do you want me to release the King of the Jews to you?” Pilate knew by this time that it was through sheer spite that the high priests had turned Jesus over to him.
11-12 But the high priests by then had worked up the crowd to ask for the release of Barabbas. Pilate came back, “So what do I do with this man you call King of the Jews?”
13 They yelled, “Nail him to a cross!”
14 Pilate objected, “But for what crime?”
But they yelled all the louder, “Nail him to a cross!”
15 Pilate gave the crowd what it wanted, set Barabbas free and turned Jesus over for whipping and crucifixion.
16-20 The soldiers took Jesus into the palace (called Praetorium) and called together the entire brigade. They dressed him up in purple and put a crown plaited from a thornbush on his head. Then they began their mockery: “Bravo, King of the Jews!” They banged on his head with a club, spit on him, and knelt down in mock worship. After they had had their fun, they took off the purple cape and put his own clothes back on him. Then they marched out to nail him to the cross.
The Crucifixion
21 There was a man walking by, coming from work, Simon from Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus. They made him carry Jesus’ cross.
22-24 The soldiers brought Jesus to Golgotha, meaning “Skull Hill.” They offered him a mild painkiller (wine mixed with myrrh), but he wouldn’t take it. And they nailed him to the cross. They divided up his clothes and threw dice to see who would get them.
25-30 They nailed him up at nine o’clock in the morning. The charge against him—the king of the jews—was scrawled across a sign. Along with him, they crucified two criminals, one to his right, the other to his left. People passing along the road jeered, shaking their heads in mock lament: “You bragged that you could tear down the Temple and then rebuild it in three days—so show us your stuff! Save yourself! If you’re really God’s Son, come down from that cross!”
31-32 The high priests, along with the religion scholars, were right there mixing it up with the rest of them, having a great time poking fun at him: “He saved others—but he can’t save himself! Messiah, is he? King of Israel? Then let him climb down from that cross. We’ll all become believers then!” Even the men crucified alongside him joined in the mockery.
33-34 At noon the sky became extremely dark. The darkness lasted three hours. At three o’clock, Jesus groaned out of the depths, crying loudly, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”
35-36 Some of the bystanders who heard him said, “Listen, he’s calling for Elijah.” Someone ran off, soaked a sponge in sour wine, put it on a stick, and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down.”
37-39 But Jesus, with a loud cry, gave his last breath. At that moment the Temple curtain ripped right down the middle. When the Roman captain standing guard in front of him saw that he had quit breathing, he said, “This has to be the Son of God!”
Taken to a Tomb
40-41 There were women watching from a distance, among them Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of the younger James and Joses, and Salome. When Jesus was in Galilee, these women followed and served him, and had come up with him to Jerusalem.
42-45 Late in the afternoon, since it was the Day of Preparation (that is, Sabbath eve), Joseph of Arimathea, a highly respected member of the Jewish Council, came. He was one who lived expectantly, on the lookout for the kingdom of God. Working up his courage, he went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Pilate questioned whether he could be dead that soon and called for the captain to verify that he was really dead. Assured by the captain, he gave Joseph the corpse.
46-47 Having already purchased a linen shroud, Joseph took him down, wrapped him in the shroud, placed him in a tomb that had been cut into the rock, and rolled a large stone across the opening. Mary Magdalene and Mary, mother of Joses, watched the burial.
