あいさつ
1 📜イエス・キリストの使徒パウロからの手紙
神は私を送り出してくれた。その理由はイエス・キリストに繋がることで得られる、約束された人生について人々に伝えるためだ。
2 愛する息子、テモテへ。
私はあなたへの挨拶を送る。どうか、私たちの父である神と王であるイエス・キリストから、恵みとあわれみ、そして平安がお前の上にあるようにと心から祈っている。
感謝と励まし
3 毎日、昼も夜も神とお前に感謝し、いつも祈っている。この方こそ私たちの神であり、私の先祖たちが尽くし仕えた神である。私は正しい良心を持ち、その神に仕えているのだ。 4 あぁ～私がお前のところを去る時・・・お前の流した涙が今でも目に焼き付いている。それを思うと今すぐにでもお前に会いたい・・・再び会える日が来たら、なんて幸せなのだろうか・・・ 5 嘘、偽り無いお前の神への思いを覚えている。お前はまるでおばあさんのロイスやお母さんのユニケ譲りだ。2人の神への思いが間違いなくお前の中にもあるのを感じる。 6 だから忘れるのではない。私がお前に両手を置いて祈った時、神がお前に素晴らしい贈り物をくれたことを。そしてその贈り物である能力を使うのだ。そうすればその能力は更に成長する。それはまるで火の中にあるメラメラ燃える炎のようにどんどんと大きくなるのだ。 7 神が私たちに与えてくれた霊は恐れを抱かせるようなものではない！それどころか、神の霊は力と愛、そして自制心の源となるのだ。
8 人前で私たちの王であるイエスのことを伝える時、モジモジする必要なんてない！主人のために牢屋にいる私のことだって恥じることはないのだ！しかし、この最高な知らせのために私と共に苦しんでくれ。神は私たちにそれを乗り越える力すら与えてくれている。 9 神は私たちを救い、彼の聖なる人々となるように選んでくれた。しかし、それは私たちがそれに値する何かをしたからではなく、ただただ神の思いの中にあったからなのだ。そう！それは時が動き始まる前にすでに計画されていたものだった。そして、そんな時でさえ神はイエス・キリストを通して神の恵みを私たちに与える計画を立ててくれた。 10 私たちの救い主、イエスが地上に来てくれたことで、その全貌が明かされた。死を打ち負かし、最高な知らせをとおして朽ちることのない、いのちへの道を示してくれた。 11 神は他の人へ最高な知らせを宣べ伝え、それを教える使徒として私を選んでくれたのだ。 12 そして今、私はこの使命を全うしているからこそ苦しみを受けているのだ。しかし、私には恥がない。なぜなら私は自分が信頼を置いている方を知っているからだ。そして、その方を信頼できるようにと私のことをその日までずっと守っていてくれるからだ。
13 私はイエスについて教えたことを手本にし、イエス・キリストが示した忠誠心と愛にならって本物の真理のみを教える。お前は私から聞いたことを模範とし、それを教える。 14 お前の学んだこの教えは、かけがえのないものであり、宝だ。だからこそお前の内に住んでいる聖霊の助けによって与えられたものを守り抜きなさい。
15 聞いているだろうが、アジアから来た信じる者はみんな私を見捨て去っていった。フゲロとヘルモゲネでさえもだ。 16 私は神に祈っている。どうかオネシポロとその家族に神の祝福があるようにと・・・彼は何度も私を励ましてくれた。私が捕まって牢屋に投げ込まれようと、彼は動揺せず恥を抱くことさえなかった。 17 彼はそんなことを全く気にしていなかったのだ。それどころか、彼はローマ市内に着くとすぐに私を捜しまわり、私に会いに来てくれた。 18 再びイエス・キリストの現れるその日に、オネシポロが王である神からあわれみを受け取ることが出来るようと私は祈っている。港の都エペソで彼がどれだけ私の力になってくれたかはお前がよく知っているだろう。

Greeting
1 Paul, an apostle of [a]Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the (A)promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
2 To Timothy, a (B)beloved son:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Timothy’s Faith and Heritage
3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my (C)forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5 when I call to remembrance (D)the [b]genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and (E)your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. 6 Therefore I remind you (F)to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For (G)God has not given us a spirit of fear, (H)but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Not Ashamed of the Gospel
8 (I)Therefore do not be ashamed of (J)the testimony of our Lord, nor of me (K)His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, (L)not according to our works, but (M)according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus (N)before time began, 10 but (O)has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 (P)to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher [c]of the Gentiles. 12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, (Q)for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.
Be Loyal to the Faith
13 (R)Hold fast (S)the pattern of (T)sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
15 This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. 16 The Lord grant mercy to the (U)household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; 17 but when he arrived in Rome, he sought me out very zealously and found me. 18 The Lord (V)grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord (W)in that Day—and you know very well how many ways he (X)ministered [d]to me at Ephesus.

1 Yo, Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios y según la promesa de la vida que es en Cristo Jesús, 2 a Timoteo,(A) amado hijo: Que tengas gracia, misericordia y paz, de Dios el Padre y de Jesucristo nuestro Señor.
Testificando de Cristo
3 Doy gracias a Dios, a quien, como mis antepasados, sirvo con limpia conciencia, de que siempre, día y noche, me acuerdo de ti en mis oraciones. 4 Al acordarme de tus lágrimas siento deseos de verte, para llenarme de gozo; 5 pues me viene a la memoria la fe sincera que hay en ti, la cual habitó primero en tu abuela Loida, y en tu madre(B) Eunice, y estoy seguro que habita en ti también. 6 Por eso te aconsejo que avives el fuego del don de Dios, que por la imposición de mis manos está en ti. 7 Porque no nos ha dado Dios un espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio.
8 Por tanto, no te avergüences de dar testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni tampoco de mí, preso suyo. Al contrario, participa de las aflicciones por el evangelio según el poder de Dios, 9 quien nos salvó y nos llamó con llamamiento santo, no conforme a nuestras obras, sino según el propósito suyo y la gracia que nos fue dada en Cristo Jesús antes de los tiempos de los siglos, 10 pero que ahora ha sido manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, quien quitó la muerte y sacó a la luz la vida y la inmortalidad por medio del evangelio, 11 del cual yo fui constituido predicador, apóstol y maestro de los no judíos.(C) 12 Por eso mismo padezco esto. Pero no me avergüenzo, porque yo sé a quién he creído, y estoy seguro de que él es poderoso para guardar mi depósito para aquel día. 13 Retén la forma de las sanas palabras que oíste de mí, en la fe y en el amor que es en Cristo Jesús. 14 Guarda el buen depósito por el Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros.
15 Ya sabes que me abandonaron todos los que están en Asia, dos de los cuales son Figelo y Hermógenes. 16 Que el Señor tenga misericordia de la casa de Onesíforo, porque muchas veces me reanimó, y no se avergonzó de mis cadenas, 17 sino que cuando estuvo en Roma, me buscó afanosamente y me halló. 18 Que en aquel día el Señor le conceda hallar misericordia cerca del Señor. Tú mejor que nadie sabes cuánto nos ayudó en Éfeso.

Thanksgiving
3 I thank God,(G) whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience,(H) as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.(I) 4 Recalling your tears,(J) I long to see you,(K) so that I may be filled with joy. 5 I am reminded of your sincere faith,(L) which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice(M) and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
Appeal for Loyalty to Paul and the Gospel
6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.(N) 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid,(O) but gives us power,(P) love and self-discipline. 8 So do not be ashamed(Q) of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner.(R) Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel,(S) by the power of God. 9 He has saved(T) us and called(U) us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done(V) but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10 but it has now been revealed(W) through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus,(X) who has destroyed death(Y) and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 11 And of this gospel(Z) I was appointed(AA) a herald and an apostle and a teacher.(AB) 12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame,(AC) because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard(AD) what I have entrusted to him until that day.(AE)
13 What you heard from me,(AF) keep(AG) as the pattern(AH) of sound teaching,(AI) with faith and love in Christ Jesus.(AJ) 14 Guard(AK) the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.(AL)
Examples of Disloyalty and Loyalty
15 You know that everyone in the province of Asia(AM) has deserted me,(AN) including Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16 May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus,(AO) because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed(AP) of my chains.(AQ) 17 On the contrary, when he was in Rome, he searched hard for me until he found me. 18 May the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day!(AR) You know very well in how many ways he helped me(AS) in Ephesus.(AT)
