மரியாள் தேவனைப் போற்றுதல்
46 அப்போது மரியாள்,
47 “எனது ஆத்துமா கர்த்தரைப் போற்றுகிறது.
தேவன் எனது இரட்சகர். எனவே என் உள்ளம் அவரில் மகிழ்கிறது.
48 நான் முக்கியமற்றவள்,
ஆனால் தேவன் தனது கருணையைப் பணிப்பெண்ணாகிய எனக்குக் காட்டினார்.
இப்போது தொடங்கி,
எல்லா மக்களும் என்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவள் என்பர்.
49 ஏனெனில் ஆற்றல் மிகுந்தவர் எனக்காக மேன்மையான செயல்களைச் செய்தார்.
அவர் பெயர் மிகத் தூய்மையானது.
50 தேவனை வணங்கும் மக்களுக்கு அவர் எப்போதும் இரக்கம் செய்வார்.
51 தேவனின் கைகள் பலமானவை.
செருக்குற்ற மனிதர்களையும் சுயதம்பட்டக்காரர்களையும் அவர் சிதறடிக்கிறார்.
52 சிம்மாசனத்தினின்று மன்னர்களைக் கீழே இறக்குகிறார்.
தாழ்ந்தவர்களை உயர்த்துகிறார்.
53 நல்ல பொருட்களால் பசித்த மக்களை நிரப்புகிறார்.
செல்வந்தரையும், தன்னலம் மிகுந்தோரையும் எதுவுமின்றி அனுப்பிவிடுகிறார்.
54 தனக்குப் பணிசெய்வோருக்கு அவர் உதவினார்.
அவர்களுக்குத் தன் இரக்கத்தை அருளினார்.
55 நம் முன்னோருக்கும் ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் தம் குழந்தைகளுக்கும் அவர் கொடுத்த வாக்குறுதியை என்றைக்கும் நிறைவேற்றுகிறார்”
என்று சொன்னாள்.
56 மரியாள் எலிசபெத்துடன் ஏறக்குறைய மூன்று மாதகாலம்வரைக்கும் தங்கி இருந்தாள். பின்பு மரியாள் தனது வீட்டுக்குச் சென்றாள்.

57 குழந்தைப் பேற்றின் காலம் நெருங்கியபோது எலிசபெத் ஓர் ஆண் குழந்தையைப் பெற்றெடுத்தாள். 58 அவளது அக்கம் பக்கத்தாரும் உறவினரும் கர்த்தர் அவளுக்குக் கருணைக் காட்டியதை கேள்விப்பட்டனர். அதைக்குறித்து மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தனர்.

Mary’s Song(A)
46 And Mary said:
“My soul glorifies the Lord(B)
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,(C)
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.(D)
From now on all generations will call me blessed,(E)
49 for the Mighty One has done great things(F) for me—
holy is his name.(G)
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.(H)
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;(I)
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.(J)
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.(K)
53 He has filled the hungry with good things(L)
but has sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful(M)
55 to Abraham and his descendants(N) forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”
56 Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.
The Birth of John the Baptist
57 When it was time for Elizabeth to have her baby, she gave birth to a son. 58 Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they shared her joy.

47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
54 He hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
55 As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.
56 And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.
57 Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
58 And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.
