யூதர்களும் பாவிகளே
2 மற்றவர்களைக் குற்றவாளி என்று தீர்ப்பு அளிக்க உன்னால் முடியும் என நீ எண்ணுவாயானால் நீயும் குற்ற உணர்விற்குரியவன்தான். பாவம் செய்பவனாகவும் இருக்கிறாய். அவர்களுக்குத் தீர்ப்பளிக்கிற நீயும் அதே பாவச் செயல்களைச் செய்கிறாய். உண்மையில் நீயே குற்றவாளியாக இருக்கும்போது நீ எவ்வாறு மற்றவர்களைக் குற்றம் சாட்டமுடியும். 2 இத்தகையவர்களுக்கு தேவன் தீர்ப்பளிப்பார். அவரது தீர்ப்பு நீதியாய் இருக்கும். 3 அத்தவறான செயல்களைச் செய்பவர்களுக்கு நீயும் தீர்ப்பளிக்கிறாய். ஆனால் அதே தவறுகளை நீயும் செய்கிறாய். தேவனுடைய தீர்ப்பிலிருந்து தப்பிக்க முடியாது என்பது உனக்குத் தெரியுமா? 4 தேவன் உன்னிடம் மிகக் கருணையோடும் பொறுமையாகவும் இருக்கிறார். அவரிடம் திரும்பி வருவாய் எனக் காத்திருக்கிறார். ஆனால் அவரது கருணையைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளாமல் இருக்கிறாய். ஏனென்றால் உன் இதயத்தையும் வாழ்வையும் நல் வழியில் திருப்பும் அவரது நோக்கத்தை நீ உணர்ந்துகொள்ளவில்லை.
5 நீ கடினமாகவும் உறுதியாகவும் இருக்கிறாய். நீ மாற மறுக்கிறாய். உன் தண்டனையை மிகுதிப்படுத்துகிறாய். தேவனுடைய கோபம் வெளிப்படும் நாளில் நீ தண்டனையைப் பெறுவாய். அன்று மக்கள் தேவனுடைய சரியான தீர்ப்பினை அறிந்துகொள்வர். 6 ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனும் செய்த செயல்களுக்கேற்றபடி அவனுக்கு தேவன் நற்பலனோ, தண்டனையோ கொடுப்பார். 7 சிலர் தேவனுடைய மகிமைக்காகவும், கனத்துக்காகவும், என்றும் அழிவற்ற வாழ்வுக்காகவும் வாழ்கிறார்கள். நல்ல காரியங்களைத் தொடர்ந்து செய்வதன் மூலம் இத்தகு வாழ்வை அவர்கள் வாழ்கிறார்கள். அவர்களுக்கு நித்திய வாழ்வை தேவன் தருகிறார். 8 மற்றவர்களோ சுய நலவாதிகளாகி, உண்மையைக் கடைப்பிடிக்க மறுக்கின்றனர். அவர்கள் பாவத்தின் வழி நடப்பவர்கள். இவர்களுக்கு தேவன் தண்டனையையும், கோபாக்கினையையும் வழங்குவார். 9 முதலில் யூதர்களுக்கும் பின்பு யூதர் அல்லாதவர்களுக்கும், தீங்கு செய்கிற எவருக்கும் தேவன் துயரமும், துன்பமும் கொடுப்பார். 10 முதலில் யூதர்களிலும் பின்பு யூதர் அல்லாதவர்களிலும் நன்மை செய்கிற எவருக்கும் தேவன் மகிமையையும், கனத்தையும், சமாதானத்தையும் தருவார். 11 தேவன் அனைத்து மக்களுக்கும் ஒரேவிதமாகவே தீர்ப்பளிப்பார்.
12 தேவனுடைய சட்டத்தை அறிந்தவர்களானாலும், அதைப்பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டிராத மக்களாயினும் பாவம் செய்யும்போது ஒத்த நிலை உடையவர்ளாக ஆகிறார்கள். சட்ட அறிவு அற்றவர்களாகவும், பாவிகளாகவும் இருப்பவர்கள் கைவிடப்படுவார்கள். அதேபோல், சட்டம் தெரிந்தும் பாவம் செய்தவர்கள் அதே சட்டத்தின்படி தீர்ப்பளிக்கப்படுவார்கள். 13 ஒருவன் சட்ட அறிவைப் பெறுவதன் மூலம் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக நீதிமானாக முடியாது. சட்டம் சொல்லும் வழி முறைகளின்படி வாழும்போது மட்டுமே தேவனுடைய முன்னிலையில் ஒருவன் நீதிமானாக வாழமுடியும்.
14 யூதரல்லாதவர்களுக்கு நியாயப்பிரமாணம் இல்லை. எனினும் அவர்கள் இயல்பாக நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படி செய்கிறபோது நியாயப்பிரமாணம் இல்லாவிட்டாலும் தங்களுக்குத் தாங்களே நியாப்பிரமாணமாய் இருக்கிறார்கள். 15 அவர்களின் மனதுக்கு எது சரி, எது தவறு என்று தெரிகிறது. அவர்களின் சிந்தனையே குற்றமுள்ளது எது என்றும், சரியானது எது என்றும் கூறுவதினால் அவர்கள் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கேற்ற செயல்கள் தங்கள் இதயங்களில் எழுதியிருக்கிறதென்று காட்டுகிறார்கள்.
16 தேவன் மறைவான எண்ணங்களுக்கும் தீர்ப்பளிப்பார். அந்நாளில் மக்களின் மனதுக்குள் இருக்கும் மறை பொருட்கள் வெளிவரும். நான் மக்களுக்குச் சொல்லும் நற்செய்தியின்படி தேவன் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் மூலம் தீர்ப்பளிப்பார்.
யூதர்களும் நியாயப்பிரமாணமும்
17 நீ என்ன செய்யப்போகிறாய்? நீ யூதனென்று சொல்லிக்கொள்கிறாய். நீ நியாயப் பிரமாணத்தில் விசுவாசம் வைத்து தேவனுக்கு நெருக்கமாய் இருப்பதாகப் பெருமையோடு சொல்லிக்கொள்கிறாய். 18 தேவன் உனக்கு என்ன செய்ய விரும்புகிறார் என்று உனக்குத் தெரியும். நீ நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக் கற்றவனாதலால் உனக்கு எது முக்கியமானது என்றும் தெரியும். 19 என்ன செய்வதென்று தெரியாமல் இருக்கிற மக்களுக்கு நீங்களே வழிகாட்டி என எண்ணிக்கொள்கிறீர்கள். பாவ இருட்டில் உள்ள மக்களுக்கு நீங்களே வெளிச்சம் என்று நினைத்துக்கொள்கிறீர்கள். 20 அறிவற்ற மக்களுக்குச் சரியானதைக் காட்ட முடியும் என்று கருதுகிறீர்கள். இன்னும் கற்கவேண்டிய அவசியம் உள்ளவர்களுக்கு நீங்களே குரு என்றும் நினைத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறீர்கள். உங்களிடம் நியாயப்பிரமாணம் இருப்பதால் எல்லாம் உங்களுக்குத் தெரியும் என்றும், எல்லா உண்மைகளும் உங்களிடம் இருப்பதாகவும் எண்ணுகிறீர்கள். 21 நீங்கள் மற்றவர்களுக்குக் கற்றுக்கொடுக்கிறீர்கள். நீங்கள் ஏன் கற்றுக்கொள்ளக் கூடாது? நீங்கள் மற்றவர்களிடம் களவு செய்யக்கூடாது என்று கூறுகிறீர்கள். ஆனால் நீங்களே களவு செய்கிறீர்கள். 22 நீங்கள் மற்றவர்களிடம் விபச்சாரம் செய்யக் கூடாது என்று கூறுகிறீர்கள். ஆனால் நீங்களே அதே பாவத்தைச் செய்யும் பாவிகளாக இருக்கிறீர்கள். சிலைகளை நீங்கள் வெறுக்கிறீர்கள். ஆனால் அதே கோவில்களைக் கொள்ளையடிக்கிறீர்கள். 23 நீங்கள் தேவனுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணம் பற்றிப் பெருமையாகப் பேசுகிறீர்கள். ஆனால் அதை மீறி நடந்து தேவனுக்கு அவமானத்தை உருவாக்குகிறீர்கள். 24 “யூதர்களால்தான் யூதர் அல்லாதவர்கள் தேவனைப் பற்றி இழிவாகப் பேசுகிறார்கள்”(A) என்று வேத வாக்கியங்களில் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது.
25 நீங்கள் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக் கடைபிடித்தால்தான் விருத்தசேதனம் செய்துகொண்டதில் பொருள் உண்டு. நீங்கள் சட்ட விதிகளை மீறுவீர்களேயானால் நீங்கள் விருத்தசேதனம் செய்தும் அது பயனற்றதாகிறது. 26 யூதர் அல்லாதவர்கள் விருத்தசேதனம் செய்துகொள்ளாதவர்களே. எனினும் அவர்கள் சட்டவிதிகளின்படி வாழ்வார்களேயானால் அவர்களும் விருத்தசேதனம் செய்துகொண்டவர்களாகவே கருதப்படுவர். 27 யூதர்களாகிய உங்களுக்கு எழுதப்பட்ட சட்டவிதிகளும், விருத்தசேதனமும் உள்ளன. ஆனால் அவற்றை நீங்கள் மீறுகிறீர்கள். எனவே தம் சரீரங்களில் விருத்தசேதனம் செய்துகொள்ளாதவர்களாக இருந்தும் கூட சட்ட விதிகளை மதித்து நடப்பவர்கள் உங்கள் குற்றத்தை நிரூபித்து விடுகிறார்கள்.
28 சரீரத்தால் யூதனாகப் பிறந்தவன் எவனும் உண்மையில் யூதன் அல்லன். உண்மையான விருத்தசேதனம் என்பது சரீரத்தளவில் செய்யப்படுவது அல்ல. 29 மனத்தளவில் யூதனாக இருப்பவனே உண்மையான யூதன். உண்மையான விருத்தசேதனம் இருதயத்தில் செய்யப்படுவது. அது ஆவியால் செய்யப்படுவது. அது எழுதப்பட்ட ஆணைகளால் செய்யப்படுவதல்ல. ஆவியின் மூலம் இதயத்தில் விருத்தசேதனம் செய்யப்படும் ஒருவன் மக்களால் புகழப்படாவிட்டாலும் தேவனால் புகழப்படுவான்.

A impenitência dos judeus. A justiça de Deus
2 Portanto, és inescusável quando julgas, ó homem, quem quer que sejas, porque te condenas a ti mesmo naquilo em que julgas a outro; pois tu, que julgas, fazes o mesmo. 2 E bem sabemos que o juízo de Deus é segundo a verdade sobre os que tais coisas fazem. 3 E tu, ó homem, que julgas os que fazem tais coisas, cuidas que, fazendo-as tu, escaparás ao juízo de Deus? 4 Ou desprezas tu as riquezas da sua benignidade, e paciência, e longanimidade, ignorando que a benignidade de Deus te leva ao arrependimento? 5 Mas, segundo a tua dureza e teu coração impenitente, entesouras ira para ti no dia da ira e da manifestação do juízo de Deus, 6 o qual recompensará cada um segundo as suas obras, 7 a saber: a vida eterna aos que, com perseverança em fazer bem, procuram glória, e honra, e incorrupção; 8 mas indignação e ira aos que são contenciosos e desobedientes à verdade e obedientes à iniquidade; 9 tribulação e angústia sobre toda alma do homem que faz o mal, primeiramente do judeu e também do grego; 10 glória, porém, e honra e paz a qualquer que faz o bem, primeiramente ao judeu e também ao grego; 11 porque, para com Deus, não há acepção de pessoas.
12 Porque todos os que sem lei pecaram sem lei também perecerão; e todos os que sob a lei pecaram pela lei serão julgados. 13 Porque os que ouvem a lei não são justos diante de Deus, mas os que praticam a lei hão de ser justificados. 14 Porque, quando os gentios, que não têm lei, fazem naturalmente as coisas que são da lei, não tendo eles lei, para si mesmos são lei, 15 os quais mostram a obra da lei escrita no seu coração, testificando juntamente a sua consciência e os seus pensamentos, quer acusando-os, quer defendendo-os, 16 no dia em que Deus há de julgar os segredos dos homens, por Jesus Cristo, segundo o meu evangelho.
Os judeus são inescusáveis. A verdadeira circuncisão
17 Eis que tu, que tens por sobrenome judeu, e repousas na lei, e te glorias em Deus; 18 e sabes a sua vontade, e aprovas as coisas excelentes, sendo instruído por lei; 19 e confias que és guia dos cegos, luz dos que estão em trevas, 20 instruidor dos néscios, mestre de crianças, que tens a forma da ciência e da verdade na lei; 21 tu, pois, que ensinas a outro, não te ensinas a ti mesmo? Tu, que pregas que não se deve furtar, furtas? 22 Tu, que dizes que não se deve adulterar, adulteras? Tu, que abominas os ídolos, cometes sacrilégio? 23 Tu, que te glorias na lei, desonras a Deus pela transgressão da lei? 24 Porque, como está escrito, o nome de Deus é blasfemado entre os gentios por causa de vós.
25 Porque a circuncisão é, na verdade, proveitosa, se tu guardares a lei; mas, se tu és transgressor da lei, a tua circuncisão se torna em incircuncisão. 26 Se, pois, a incircuncisão guardar os preceitos da lei, porventura, a incircuncisão não será reputada como circuncisão? 27 E a incircuncisão que por natureza o é, se cumpre a lei, não te julgará, porventura, a ti, que pela letra e circuncisão és transgressor da lei? 28 Porque não é judeu o que o é exteriormente, nem é circuncisão a que o é exteriormente na carne. 29 Mas é judeu o que o é no interior, e circuncisão, a que é do coração, no espírito, não na letra, cujo louvor não provém dos homens, mas de Deus.

God’s Righteous Judgment
2 Therefore you are (A)inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, (B)for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3 And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you despise (C)the riches of His goodness, (D)forbearance, and (E)longsuffering, (F)not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your [a]impenitent heart (G)you are [b]treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who (H)“will render to each one according to his deeds”: 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and (I)do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew (J)first and also of the [c]Greek; 10 (K)but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For (L)there is no partiality with God.
12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law 13 (for (M)not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; 14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the (N)work of the law written in their hearts, their (O)conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) 16 (P)in the day when God will judge the secrets of men (Q)by Jesus Christ, (R)according to my gospel.
The Jews Guilty as the Gentiles
17 [d]Indeed (S)you are called a Jew, and (T)rest[e] on the law, (U)and make your boast in God, 18 and (V)know His will, and (W)approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law, 19 and (X)are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, (Y)having the form of knowledge and truth in the law. 21 (Z)You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? 22 You who say, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, (AA)do you rob temples? 23 You who (AB)make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law? 24 For (AC)“the name of God is (AD)blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” as it is written.
Circumcision of No Avail
25 (AE)For circumcision is indeed profitable if you keep the law; but if you are a breaker of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. 26 Therefore, (AF)if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision? 27 And will not the physically uncircumcised, if he fulfills the law, (AG)judge you who, even with your [f]written code and circumcision, are a transgressor of the law? 28 For (AH)he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; 29 but he is a Jew (AI)who is one inwardly; and (AJ)circumcision is that of the heart, (AK)in the Spirit, not in the letter; (AL)whose [g]praise is not from men but from God.

God’s Righteous Judgment
2 You, therefore, have no excuse,(A) you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.(B) 2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches(C) of his kindness,(D) forbearance(E) and patience,(F) not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?(G)
5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath(H), when his righteous judgment(I) will be revealed. 6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”[a](J) 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor(K) and immortality,(L) he will give eternal life.(M) 8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil,(N) there will be wrath and anger.(O) 9 There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil:(P) first for the Jew, then for the Gentile;(Q) 10 but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.(R) 11 For God does not show favoritism.(S)
12 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law(T) will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey(U) the law who will be declared righteous. 14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law,(V) they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.) 16 This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets(W) through Jesus Christ,(X) as my gospel(Y) declares.
The Jews and the Law
17 Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God;(Z) 18 if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law; 19 if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark, 20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— 21 you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?(AA) 22 You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?(AB) 23 You who boast in the law,(AC) do you dishonor God by breaking the law? 24 As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”[b](AD)
25 Circumcision has value if you observe the law,(AE) but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised.(AF) 26 So then, if those who are not circumcised keep the law’s requirements,(AG) will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised?(AH) 27 The one who is not circumcised physically and yet obeys the law will condemn you(AI) who, even though you have the[c] written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker.
28 A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly,(AJ) nor is circumcision merely outward and physical.(AK) 29 No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart,(AL) by the Spirit,(AM) not by the written code.(AN) Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.(AO)
