Death of the Firstborn Announced(A)
11 And the Lord said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. (B)Afterward he will let you go from here. (C)When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out of here altogether. 2 Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask from his neighbor and every woman from her neighbor, (D)articles of silver and articles of gold.” 3 (E)And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man (F)Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.
4 Then Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: (G)‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt; 5 and (H)all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals. 6 (I)Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, (J)such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again. 7 (K)But against none of the children of Israel (L)shall a dog [a]move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.’ 8 And (M)all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will go out.” (N)Then he went out from Pharaoh in great anger.
9 But the Lord said to Moses, (O)“Pharaoh will not heed you, so that (P)My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.” 10 So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh; (Q)and the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

11 And the Lord said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.
2 Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver and jewels of gold.
3 And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.
4 And Moses said, Thus saith the Lord, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the Lord doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
8 And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.
9 And the Lord said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
10 And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

La plaga contra los primogénitos
11 El Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Voy a traer una plaga más sobre el faraón y sobre Egipto. Después de eso, dejará que os vayáis. Y, cuando lo haga, os echará de aquí para siempre. 2 Habla con el pueblo y diles que todos ellos, hombres y mujeres, deben pedirles a sus vecinos y vecinas objetos de oro y de plata».
3 El Señor hizo que los egipcios vieran con buenos ojos a los israelitas. Además, en todo Egipto Moisés mismo era altamente respetado por los funcionarios del faraón y por el pueblo.
4 Moisés anunció: «Así dice el Señor: “Hacia la medianoche pasaré por todo Egipto, 5 y todo primogénito egipcio morirá: desde el primogénito del faraón que ahora ocupa el trono hasta el primogénito de la esclava que trabaja en el molino, lo mismo que todo primogénito del ganado. 6 En todo Egipto habrá grandes lamentos, como no los ha habido ni volverá a haberlos. 7 Pero, entre los israelitas, ni los perros le ladrarán a persona o animal alguno. Así sabrán que el Señor hace distinción entre Egipto e Israel. 8 Todos estos funcionarios tuyos vendrán a verme, y de rodillas me suplicarán: ‘¡Vete ya, con todo el pueblo que te sigue!’ Cuando esto suceda, me iré”».
Y, ardiendo de ira, salió Moisés de la presencia del faraón, 9 aunque ya el Señor le había advertido a Moisés que el faraón no les iba a hacer caso y que tenía que ser así para que las maravillas del Señor se multiplicaran en Egipto.
10 Moisés y Aarón realizaron ante el faraón todas estas maravillas; pero el Señor endureció el corazón del faraón, y este no dejó salir de su país a los israelitas.
