முகவுரை
1 இவை தாவீதின் குமாரனான சாலொமோன் கற்பித்த ஞான போதனைகள். சாலொமோன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாக இருந்தான். 2 ஜனங்கள் புத்திசாலிகளாக இருக்கும்பொருட்டும், செய்யத்தக்க நேர்மையான காரியங்களைச் செய்யும்பொருட்டும் இந்த ஞானவார்த்தைகள் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளன. இந்த வார்த்தைகள், ஜனங்கள் ஞான போதனைகளைப் புரிந்துகொள்ள உதவும். 3 இந்த ஞானவார்த்தைகள் ஜனங்களுக்குத் தங்களுடைய மனம் நேர்மையான வழியில் செல்ல போதிக்கும். ஜனங்கள் நேர்மையோடும், நியாயத்தோடும் நல்லவர்களாகவும் தங்கள் புத்தியைச் சரியான வழியில் செலுத்த இந்த ஞானவார்த்தைகள் போதிக்கும். 4 ஞானத்தை அடைய விரும்பும் ஜனங்களுக்கு இந்த ஞானவார்த்தைகள் போதிக்கும். இந்த ஞானவார்த்தைகள் இளந்தலைமுறையினருக்கு அவர்கள் அறிய வேண்டியவற்றையும் அதை எப்படி உபயோகப்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்பதைக் குறித்தும் போதிக்கும். 5 அறிவாளிகள்கூட இந்த வார்த்தைகளைக் கவனிக்கவேண்டும். இதை அவர்கள் கற்று மேலும் ஞானிகளாவார்கள். பிரச்சனைகளைச் சரிசெய்துகொள்ளும் திறமைகொண்ட ஜனங்கள் இவற்றின்மூலம் மேலும் புரிந்துகொள்ளும் திறமையைப் பெறலாம். 6 பின்னர் நீதிக்கதைகளையும், அதன் அர்த்தங்களையும் அந்த ஜனங்களால் புரிந்துகொள்ள முடியும். அறிவாளிகள் சொல்வதை அந்த ஜனங்களால் புரிந்துகொள்ள முடியும்.
7 ஒருவன் செய்யவேண்டிய முதலாவது காரியம், கர்த்தருக்கு கனம் செலுத்துவதையும் அவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிவதையும் கற்றுக்கொள்ளவேண்டும். அது தம்மை உண்மையான ஞானத்தைப்பெற வழிநடத்தும். ஆனால், தீய ஜனங்கள் உண்மையான ஞானத்தையும் ஒழுக்கத்தையும் வெறுக்கிறார்கள்.
சாலொமோன் தன் குமாரனுக்குச் சொன்ன அறிவுரை
8 என் மகனே! உன் தந்தை உன்னை திருத்தும்போது கீழ்ப்படியவேண்டும். நீ உன் தாயின் போதனைகளையும் தள்ளிவிடவேண்டாம். 9 உனது தாயும் தந்தையும் சொல்லுகிற வார்த்தைகள் உன் தலைக்கு அலங்காரமான கிரீடமாக இருக்கும். அவை உன் கழுத்துக்கு அழகான மாலையாக விளங்கும்.
10 என் மகனே! பாவத்தை விரும்புகிறவர்கள், அவர்கள் உன்னையும் தீயசெயல்களை செய்யும்படி தூண்டுவார்கள். நீ அவர்களைப் பின்பற்றக் கூடாது. 11 அந்தப் பாவிகள் உன்னிடம், “எங்களோடு வா, நாம் ஒளித்திருப்போம். ஒன்றும் அறியாதவர்களைக்கொல்லும்படிக் காத்திருப்போம். 12 நாம் அவர்களை மரண இடத்திற்கு அனுப்புவோம். நாம் அவர்களை அழித்து கல்லறைக்கு அனுப்புவோம். 13 நாம் விலைமதிப்புள்ள உயர்ந்த பொருட்களையெல்லாம் திருடுவோம். நாம் இவற்றால் நம் வீடுகளை நிரப்புவோம். 14 எனவே எங்களோடு வா. இவற்றைச் செய்ய உதவு. இதில் கிடைப்பதை நாம் பங்கிட்டுக்கொள்வோம்” என்பார்கள்.
15 என் மகனே அவர்களைப் பின்பற்றிச் செல்லாதே. அவர்கள் வாழ்கிற வாழ்க்கை முறையில் ஒரு அடிகூட எடுத்து வைக்காதே. 16 அந்தத் தீயவர்கள் எப்பொழுதும் தீமை செய்யவே தயாராக இருப்பார்கள். எப்பொழுதும் அவர்கள் ஜனங்களைக்கொல்வதையே விரும்புவார்கள்.
17 ஜனங்கள் வலையை விரித்துப் பறவைகளைப் பிடிக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால் பறவைகள் கவனித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது அதனைப் பிடிக்க வலையை விரிப்பது வீண். 18 அந்தத் தீயவர்கள் மறைந்துகொண்டு மற்றவர்களைக்கொல்ல வலை விரிப்பார்கள். ஆனால் அவர்கள் உண்மையில் தங்களுக்காகவே வலையை விரிக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் தம் சொந்த வலையாலேயே அழிந்து போவார்கள். 19 பேராசை உடையவர்கள் எப்பொழுதும் அதனாலேயே அழிந்துபோவார்கள்.
நல்ல பெண்மணியான ஞானம்
20 கவனியுங்கள்! ஞானம் ஜனங்களுக்குப் போதிக்க முயற்சி செய்கிறாள். வீதிகளிலும் சந்தையிலும் நின்று அவள் (ஞானம்) சத்தமிடுகிறாள். 21 அவள் நெரிசலான தெருமுனைகளில் நின்று கூப்பிடுகிறாள். நகர வாசல் அருகில் நின்றுகொண்டு ஜனங்கள் தன்னைக் கவனிக்கும்படி முயற்சி செய்கிறாள்.
22 ஞானம் சொல்கிறதாவது, “நீங்கள் முட்டாள்கள், நீங்கள் தொடர்ந்து எவ்வளவுகாலம் முட்டாள்தனமாக செயல்படுவீர்கள்? நீங்கள் எவ்வளவு காலம் ஞானத்தைக் கேலிச் செய்வீர்கள்? நீங்கள் தொடர்ந்து எவ்வளவு காலத்துக்கு அறிவை வெறுப்பீர்கள்? 23 நீங்கள் எனது ஆலோசனைகளையும், போதனைகளையும் கேட்டிருக்க வேண்டும். எனக்குத் தெரிந்த எல்லாவற்றையும் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்திருப்பேன். என் அறிவையெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு வழங்கியிருந்திருப்பேன்.
24 “நான் சொல்வதைக் கவனிக்க நீங்கள் மறுத்துவிட்டீர்கள். நான் உதவ முயன்றேன். நான் கைகொடுக்க வந்தேன். ஆனால் என் உதவியை ஏற்க மறுத்துவிட்டீர்கள். 25 எனது அறிவுரைகளைக் கேட்காமல் நீங்கள் திரும்பிக்கொண்டீர்கள். என் வார்த்தைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள மறுத்தீர்கள். 26 எனவே, உங்கள் துன்பத்தைக் கண்டு நான் சிரிப்பேன். உங்களுக்குத் துன்பம் வருவதைப் பார்த்து நான் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைவேன். 27 ஒரு கொடிய புயலைப்போன்று பெருந்துன்பம் உங்களுக்கு வரும். பெருங்காற்றைப்போன்று அது உங்கள் மேல் மோதும். உங்கள் துன்பமும் கவலைகளும் உங்கள் மேல் சுமையாக அழுத்தும்.
28 “இவையெல்லாம் நடக்கும்போது நீங்கள் என்னை உதவிக்காக அழைப்பீர்கள். ஆனால் நான் உதவிசெய்யமாட்டேன். என்னை நீங்கள் தேடுவீர்கள், ஆனால் உங்களால் என்னைக் கண்டு பிடிக்க முடியாது. 29 நீங்கள் என் அறிவை விரும்பாததால் நான் உதவி செய்யமாட்டேன். நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படவும் அவரை மதிக்கவும், கனப்படுத்தவும் மறுத்தீர்கள். 30 நீங்கள் என்னுடைய அறிவுரைகளைக் கேட்க மறுத்தீர்கள். நான் உங்களுக்குச் சரியான பாதையைக் காட்டியபோது நீங்கள் கேட்கவில்லை. 31 நீங்கள் உங்கள் சொந்த வழியிலேயே செயல்களைச் செய்தீர்கள். நீங்கள் உங்கள் சொந்த ஆலோசனையைப் பின்பற்றினீர்கள். உங்கள் சொந்த செய்கைகளினால் வந்த விளைவுகளை நீங்கள் இப்பொழுது ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளத்தான் வேண்டும்.
32 “முட்டாள்கள் அறிவைப் பின்பற்ற மறுப்பதால் மரணமடைவார்கள். தங்கள் முட்டாள்தனமான பாதையில் தொடர்ந்து செல்வதில் அவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைகிறார்கள். இது அவர்களை அழித்துவிடும். 33 ஆனால் எனக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறவன் பாதுகாப்பாக இருப்பான். அவன் வசதியாக இருப்பான். அவன் தீமைக்குப் பயப்படவேண்டியதில்லை.”

箴言的價值
1 這是大衛的兒子以色列王所羅門的箴言。
2 為使人認識智慧和教誨，
領悟真知灼見；
3 為使人接受勸誡，
為人處事仁義、公平、正直；
4 使愚昧人明智，
使青年有知識和明辨力；
5 使智者聽了長學問，
明哲聽了得指引；
6 使人領悟箴言和比喻，
明白智者的話和謎語。
7 知識始於敬畏耶和華，
愚人輕視智慧和教誨。
8 孩子啊，
你要聽從父親的教誨，
不可背棄母親的訓言。
9 因為這要作你頭上的華冠，
頸上的項鏈。
10 孩子啊，惡人若引誘你，
千萬不要聽從。
11 他們若說：「跟我們來吧，
我們去埋伏殺人，
暗害無辜者取樂；
12 我們要像陰間一樣生吞他們，
整個吞沒他們，
使他們如墜入墳墓的人；
13 我們必得到各樣寶物，
把戰利品裝滿我們的房屋。
14 跟我們一起幹吧，
大家有福同享！」
15 孩子啊，
不要走他們的道，
切莫行他們的路。
16 因為他們奔向罪惡，
急速地去殺人流血。
17 在飛鳥眼前設網羅，徒勞無功。
18 他們埋伏，卻自流己血；
他們伏擊，卻自害己命。
19 這就是貪愛不義之財者的結局，
不義之財終要奪去他們的性命。
智慧的勸誡
20 智慧在大街上高喊，
在廣場上揚聲，
21 在熱鬧的市集宣告，
在城門口演說：
22 「你們愚昧人喜愛愚昧，
嘲諷者以嘲弄為樂，
無知者厭惡知識，
要到什麼時候呢？
23 你們若因我的責備而回轉，
我就向你們顯明我的旨意[a]，
叫你們明白我的話語。
24 我呼喚你們，
你們卻充耳不聞；
我向你們招手，
你們卻視若無睹。
25 你們漠視我的勸誡，
不接受我的責備。
26 因此，
你們遭遇災難時，
我必發笑；
驚恐臨到你們時，
我必嗤笑——
27 那時，恐懼如風暴襲擊你們，
災難如旋風臨到你們，
憂愁和苦難吞沒你們。
28 你們呼求我，
我也不回答；
你們懇切地尋找我，
卻找不到。
29 因為你們厭惡知識，
不願意敬畏耶和華，
30 不接受我的勸誡，
又藐視我的責備。
31 所以，你們必自食其果，
因自己的惡謀而吃盡苦頭。
32 愚昧人背離正道，
自招滅亡；
愚頑人逍遙自在，
毀掉自己。
33 然而，那聽從我的必安然居住，
得享安寧，
不怕災禍。」

1 2 The power and use of the word of God. 7 Of the fear of God and knowledge of his word. 10 We may not consent to the enticings of sinners. 20 Wisdom complaineth that she is contemned. 24 The punishment of them that contemn her.
1 The Parables of Solomon the son of David king of Israel,
2 To know wisdom, [b]and instruction, to understand the words [c]of knowledge,
3 To receive [d]instruction to do wisely, by [e]justice and judgment and equity,
4 To give unto the [f]simple sharpness of wit, and to the child knowledge and discretion.
5 And wise man shall hear and increase in learning, and a man of [g]understanding shall attain unto wise counsels,
6 To understand a parable, and the interpretation, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 ¶ (A)The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8 My son, hear thy [h]father’s instruction, and forsake not thy [i]mother’s teaching.
9 For they shall be [j]a comely ornament unto thine head, and as chains for thy neck.
10 ¶ My son, [k]if sinners do entice thee, consent thou not.
11 If they say, Come with us, we will lay wait for [l]blood, and lie privily for the innocent without a cause:
12 We will swallow them up alive like a [m]grave, even whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13 We shall find all precious riches, and fill our houses with spoil:
14 Cast in thy lot among us, we will all have one [n]purse:
15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them: refrain thy foot from their [o]path.
16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
17 Certainly as without cause the net is spread before the eyes of all that hath wing:
18 So they lay wait for blood, and lie privily for [p]their lives.
19 Such are the ways of everyone that is greedy of gain: he would take away [q]the life of the owners thereof.
20 ¶ [r]Wisdom crieth without: she uttereth her voice in the [s]streets.
21 She calleth in the high street, among the prease in the enterings of the gates, and uttereth her words in the city, saying,
22 O ye [t]foolish, how long will ye love foolishness? and the scornful take their pleasure in scorning? and the fools hate knowledge?
23 (Turn you at my correction: lo, I will pour out my mind unto you, and make you understand my words.)
24 Because I have called, and ye refused: I have stretched out mine hand, and none would regard.
25 But ye have despised all my counsel, and would none of my correction,
26 I will also [u]laugh at your destruction, and mock when your fear cometh.
27 When [v]your fear cometh like sudden desolation, and your destruction shall come like a whirlwind: when affliction and anguish shall come upon you,
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer: they shall seek me early, but they shall not [w]find me,
29 Because they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord.
30 They would none of my counsel, but [x]despised all my correction.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the [y]fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32 For [z]ease slayeth the foolish, and the prosperity of fools destroyeth them.
33 But he that obeyeth me, shall dwell safely, and be quiet from fear of evil.

- Proverbs 1:22 Wisdom reproveth three kinds of men: the foolish or simple which err of ignorance, and the mockers that cannot suffer to be taught, and the fools which are drowned in worldly lusts and hate the knowledge of godliness.
- Proverbs 1:26 This is spoken according to our capacity, signifying that the wicked, which mock and jest at God’s word, shall have the just reward of their mocking.

- Proverbs 1:28 Because they sought not with an affection to God, but for ease of their own grief.
- Proverbs 1:30 Showing that without faith and obedience, we can not call upon God aright.
