பழுத்த கனியின் தரிசனம்
8 கர்த்தர் இதனை எனக்குக் காட்டினார். நான் கோடைகால கனியுள்ள கூடையைப் பார்த்தேன். 2 “ஆமோஸ் நீ என்ன பார்க்கிறாய்?” என்று என்னிடம் கேட்டார்.
நான், “ஒரு கோடைக்கனியுள்ள கூடை” என்றேன்.
பிறகு கர்த்தர் என்னிடம், “எனது இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களுக்கு முடிவு வந்துவிட்டது. இனி அவர்களின் பாவங்களை நான் கவனிக்காமல் விடமாட்டேன். 3 ஆலயப் பாடல்கள் மரணப் பாடல்களாக மாறும். எனது கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் இவற்றை கூறினார். எல்லா இடங்களிலும் மரித்த உடல்கள் கிடக்கும். மௌனமாக, ஜனங்கள் மரித்த உடல்களை எடுத்துப் போய் குவியலாக எறிவார்கள்” என்றார்.
இஸ்ரவேல் வியாபாரிகள் பணம் சம்பாதிப்பதில் மட்டுமே ஆர்வமாக இருக்கிறார்கள்
4 எனக்குச் செவி கொடுங்கள்! நீங்கள் உதவியற்ற ஜனங்கள் மீது நடக்கிறீர்கள்:
நீங்கள் இந்த நாட்டிலுள்ள ஏழை ஜனங்களை அழிக்க முயற்சி செய்கிறீர்கள்.
5 வியாபாரிகளாகிய நீங்கள் கூறுகிறீர்கள்:
“நாங்கள் தானியம் விற்க அமாவாசை எப்பொழுது முடியும்?
நாங்கள் கோதுமையை விற்கக் கொண்டு வர
ஓய்வுநாள் எப்பொழுது முடியும்?
எங்களால் விலையை ஏற்றி அளவைக் குறைக்க முடியும்.
அளவுக் கருவிகளை நமக்கு அதிகம் லாபம் கிடைக்கிற விதத்தில் மாற்றி ஜனங்களை ஏமாற்றுவோம்.
6 ஏழை ஜனங்களால் தம் கடன்களைச் செலுத்த முடியாது,
எனவே நாங்கள் அவர்களை அடிமைகளாக வாங்குவோம்.
நாங்கள் ஒரு ஜோடி பாதரட்சைக்குரிய பணத்தால்
அந்த உதவியற்ற ஜனங்களை வாங்குவோம்.
ஓ, நாங்கள் நிலத்தில் சிதறிக் கிடக்கிற
கோதுமைகளை விற்க முடியும்.”
7 கர்த்தர் ஒரு வாக்குறுதி செய்தார். அவர் யாக்கோபின் பெருமை, என்ற தமது நாமத்தை, பயன்படுத்தி இந்த வாக்குறுதியைச் செய்தார்.
“நான் அந்த ஜனங்கள் செய்தவற்றை மறக்கமாட்டேன்.
8 அவற்றால் முழு நாடும் நடுங்கும்.
இந்நாட்டிலுள்ள ஒவ்வொருவரும்
மரித்துப்போனவர்களுக்காக அழுவார்கள்.
முழு நாடும் எகிப்திலுள்ள நைல் நதியைப் போன்று உயர்ந்து தாழும்.
இந்த நாடு தடுமாறிப் போகும்.”
9 கர்த்தர் இவற்றையும் கூறினார்:
“அந்த வேளையில் நான் சூரியனை நடுப்பகலில் மறையச் செய்வேன்.
நான் பகல் வேளையில் பூமியை இருளச் செய்வேன்.
10 நான் உங்கள் விடுமுறை நாட்களை மரித்தவர்களுக்காக ஒப்பாரி வைக்கும் நாளாக்குவேன்.
உங்கள் பாடல்கள் எல்லாம் மரித்த ஜனங்களுக்காகப் பாடப்படும் சோகப் பாடல்களாகும்.
நான் ஒவ்வொருவர் மீதும் துக்கத்திற்கான ஆடையை அணிவிப்பேன்.
நான் எல்லாத் தலைகளையும் வழுக்கையாக்குவேன்.
நான், மரித்துப்போன ஒரே மகனுக்காக அழும் ஒப்பாரியைப் போன்று ஆக்குவேன்.
இது ஒரு மிகவும் கசப்பான முடிவாயிருக்கும்.”
தேவனுடைய வார்த்தை கிடைக்காத கொடிய பஞ்சம் வந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறது
11 கர்த்தர் கூறுகிறார்:
“பார், தேசத்தின் மேல் பஞ்சத்தை அனுப்பும் நாட்கள் வரும்.
ஜனங்கள் அப்பத்துக்காகப் பசித்திருக்கமாட்டார்கள்.
தண்ணீருக்காகத் தவித்திருக்கமாட்டார்கள்.
இல்லை, கர்த்தரிடமிருந்து வரும் வார்த்தைகளுக்காக ஜனங்கள் பசியோடு இருப்பார்கள்.
12 ஜனங்கள் சவக்கடலிலிருந்து மத்தியத் தரைக் கடலுக்கும்
வடக்கிலிருந்து கிழக்குக்கும் அலைவார்கள்.
ஜனங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தைகளுக்காக
அங்கும் இங்கும் அலைவார்கள்.
ஆனால் அவர்கள் அதைக் கண்டு கொள்ளமாட்டார்கள்.
13 அந்த நேரத்தில் அழகான ஆண்களும் பெண்களும் தாகத்தால்
பலவீனம் அடைவார்கள்.
14 அந்த ஜனங்கள் சமாரியாவின் பாவத்தின் பேரில் வாக்குறுதி செய்தனர்.
அவர்கள், ‘தாணே, உன் தேவனுடைய உயிரின் மேல் வாக்குறுதி அளிக்கிறோம்’ என்றார்கள்.
மேலும் அவர்கள்,
‘பெயர்செபாவின் தேவனுடைய உயிரின்மேல் நாங்கள் வாக்குறுதி அளிக்கிறோம்’ என்றார்கள்.
ஆனால் அந்த ஜனங்கள் வீழ்வார்கள்.
அவர்கள் மீண்டும் எழமாட்டார்கள்.”

A Basket of Ripe Fruit
8 This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me:(A) a basket of ripe fruit. 2 “What do you see,(B) Amos?(C)” he asked.
“A basket(D) of ripe fruit,” I answered.
Then the Lord said to me, “The time is ripe for my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.(E)
3 “In that day,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “the songs in the temple will turn to wailing.[a](F) Many, many bodies—flung everywhere! Silence!(G)”
5 saying,
“When will the New Moon(J) be over
that we may sell grain,
and the Sabbath be ended
that we may market(K) wheat?”(L)—
skimping on the measure,
boosting the price
and cheating(M) with dishonest scales,(N)
6 buying the poor(O) with silver
and the needy for a pair of sandals,
selling even the sweepings with the wheat.(P)
7 The Lord has sworn by himself, the Pride of Jacob:(Q) “I will never forget(R) anything they have done.(S)
8 “Will not the land tremble(T) for this,
and all who live in it mourn?
The whole land will rise like the Nile;
it will be stirred up and then sink
like the river of Egypt.(U)
9 “In that day,” declares the Sovereign Lord,
“I will make the sun go down at noon
and darken the earth in broad daylight.(V)
10 I will turn your religious festivals(W) into mourning
and all your singing into weeping.(X)
I will make all of you wear sackcloth(Y)
and shave(Z) your heads.
I will make that time like mourning for an only son(AA)
and the end of it like a bitter day.(AB)
11 “The days are coming,”(AC) declares the Sovereign Lord,
“when I will send a famine through the land—
not a famine of food or a thirst for water,
but a famine(AD) of hearing the words of the Lord.(AE)
12 People will stagger from sea to sea
and wander from north to east,
searching for the word of the Lord,
but they will not find it.(AF)

8 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.
2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the Lord unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord God: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.
4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,
5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
7 The Lord hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord God, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:
10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:
12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.
13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

Vision of the Summer Fruit
8 Thus the Lord God showed me: Behold, a basket of summer fruit. 2 And He said, “Amos, what do you see?”
So I said, “A basket of summer fruit.”
Then the Lord said to me:
(A)“The end has come upon My people Israel;
(B)I will not pass by them anymore.
3 And (C)the songs of the temple
Shall be wailing in that day,”
Says the Lord God—
“Many dead bodies everywhere,
(D)They shall be thrown out in silence.”
4 Hear this, you who [a]swallow up the needy,
And make the poor of the land fail,
5 Saying:
“When will the New Moon be past,
That we may sell grain?
And (E)the Sabbath,
That we may [b]trade wheat?
(F)Making the ephah small and the shekel large,
Falsifying the scales by (G)deceit,

A visão das frutas maduras
8 O Senhor DEUS me mostrou um cesto cheio de frutas maduras 2 e me perguntou:
—Amós, o que você vê aqui?
Eu respondi:
—Um cesto de frutas maduras.
Então o SENHOR me disse:
—Chegou o fim[a] do meu povo, Israel; não vou deixar mais passar sequer um dos seus pecados. 3 Nesse momento os cânticos do templo virarão tristes lamentos de funeral, haverá muitos cadáveres e serão jogados por todas partes. Que se faça, então, silêncio!
A avareza dos comerciantes
4 Amós diz: “Escutem bem, vocês que se aproveitam dos necessitados
e prejudicam os pobres do país.
5 Vocês falam:
‘Tomara que passe rápido a festa de Lua nova
para poder vender o grão.
Tomara que passe rápido o dia de descanso
para poder vender o trigo.
Vamos alterar as medidas,
aumentar os preços, falsificar os pesos
e assim calotear os compradores.
6 Compraremos os pobres por um pouco de dinheiro,
e os necessitados em troca de um par de sandálias.
Também vamos vender
até as sobras do trigo’”.
7 O SENHOR diz: “Eu juro pelo orgulho de Jacó
que nunca esquecerei a maldade destas pessoas.
8 A terra inteira tremerá por isso.
Todos os seus habitantes chorarão pelos mortos.
A terra subirá e descerá,
como as águas do rio Nilo no Egito.
9 “Eu, o Senhor DEUS, farei nesse dia
com que o sol se oculte ao meio-dia
e a terra escureça em pleno dia.
10 Farei com que suas celebrações
virem dias de choro e tristeza.
Suas canções virarão lamentos.
Todos se vestirão de luto
e se raparão a cabeça.
Farei com que sofram e se lamentem
como quem perdeu o seu único filho.
Tudo terá um trágico e amargo final.
11 “Eu, o Senhor DEUS, afirmo que está chegando o dia
em que farei com que a fome venha a este país,
mas não por falta de alimento.
Terão uma sede terrível,
mas não por falta de água.
Será fome e sede
de ouvir a palavra do SENHOR.
12 As pessoas caminharão sem rumo, de mar a mar,
e desde o norte até o leste.
Caminharão todos de um lado ao outro
procurando a mensagem do SENHOR,
mas não a acharão.
13 Nesses dias, a sede debilitará
as jovens bonitas e os jovens.
14 Todos os que juraram pelo pecado de Samaria[b]
e que disseram: ‘Juramos pela existência do deus de Dã[c]’
ou: ‘Juramos pela existência do deus de Berseba[d]’;
todos eles cairão e não se levantarão jamais”.
