فسح کی تقریب
9 بنی اسرائیلیوں کے مصر سے آنے کے بعد دوسرے سال کے پہلے مہینے میں خداوند نے صحرا ئے سینا ئی میں بات کی۔ خداوند نے موسیٰ سے کہا ، 2 “بنی اسرائیلیوں سے کہو کہ وہ مقررہ وقت پر فسح کی تقریب منا ئیں۔ 3 وہ مقّررہ وقت اس مہینے کا چودھواں دن ہے۔ انہیں شام کے وقت فسح کا کھانا کھانا چا ہئے۔ اور وہ لوگ اسے اس کے تمام اُصول اور قانون کے مطا بق ہی کرے۔”
4 اس لئے موسیٰ نے بنی اسرائیلیوں سے فسح کی تقریب منا نے کو کہا۔ 5 اور لوگوں نے شام کے وقت سینا ئی کے صحرا میں ویسا ہی کیا۔ یہ پہلے مہینے کا چودھواں دن تھا۔ بنی اسرا ئیلیوں نے ہر ایک کام ویسا ہی کیا جیسے خداوند نے موسیٰ کو حکم دیا تھا۔
6 لیکن کچھ لوگ اس دن فسح کی تقریب نہیں منا سکے کیو نکہ وہ ایک لا ش کی وجہ سے پاک نہیں تھے۔ اس لئے وہ اس دن موسیٰ اور ہا رون کے پاس گئے۔ 7 اُن لوگوں نے موسیٰ سے کہا ، “ہم لوگ ایک لاش کو چھونے کی وجہ سے ناپاک ہو ئے ہیں۔ لیکن ہم لوگوں کو مقرر وقت پر اسرا ئیلیوں کے ساتھ خداوند کی قربانی پیش کرنے کی اجا زت کیوں نہیں دی گئی ؟”
8 موسیٰ نے اُن سے کہا ، “میں خداوند سے اس معاملہ کے با رے میں پو چھونگا۔”
9 تب خداوند نے موسیٰ سے کہا : “ 10 بنی اسرا ئیلیوں سے یہ باتیں کہو : یہ ہو سکتا ہے کہ تم ٹھیک وقت پر فسح کی تقریب نہ منا سکو کیوں کہ تم یا تمہا رے خاندان کا کو ئی آدمی لا ش کو چھو نے کی وجہ سے نا پاک ہو یا ممکن ہے کہ تم کسی سفر پر گئے ہو تو بھی وہ شخص فسح کی تقریب نہیں منا ئے گا۔” 11 تم فسح کی تقریب کو دوسرے مہینے کے چودھویں دن شام کے وقت منا ؤ گے۔ اس موقع پر تم میمنہ بغیر خمیری رو ٹی اور کڑوا ساگ پا ت ضرور کھا ؤ گے۔ 12 اگلی صبح تک تمہیں اس میں سے کو ئی بھی کھا نا نہیں چھو ڑنا چا ہئے۔ تمہیں میمنے کی کسی ہڈی کو تو ڑنا نہیں چا ہئے۔ اُس آدمی کو فسح کے تمام اُصولوں پر عمل کرنا چا ہئے۔ 13 لیکن کو ئی بھی آدمی جو فسح کی تقریب منا نے کا اہل ہو تو اسے فسح کو صحیح وقت پر منا نا چا ہئے۔ اگر وہ پاک ہے اور سفر پر نہیں ہے تب اس کو کو ئی معافی نہیں۔ اگر وہ آدمی جان بوجھ کر فسح کی تقریب کو صحیح وقت پر نہیں منا تا تو اس کو اس کے لوگوں سے الگ کر دیا جا ئے گا۔ وہ قصووار ہے اور اسے سزا دینی چا ہئے۔ کیوں کہ اُس نے خداوند کو تحفہ مقررہ وقت پر پیش نہیں کیا۔
14 “اگر کو ئی غیر ملکی جو تم لوگوں کے بیچ مستقل طور پر رہ رہا ہے وہ خداوند کی فسح کی تقریب منا نا چا ہتا ہے تو اسے وہ کرنے کی اجا زت ہے۔ لیکن اسے فسح کے اصولوں کا پالن کرنا ہو گا۔ وہی اصول دوسروں کے لئے لا گو ہو گا جو تیرے لئے ہو تا ہے۔”
بادل اور آ گ
15 جس دن معاہدہ کا مقدس خیمہ لگا یا گیا تھا ایک بادل اسے ڈھک لیا تھا۔ پو ری رات وہ بادل آ گ کی طرح دکھا ئی دیا۔ 16 بادل ہمیشہ مقدس خیمہ کے اوپر ٹھہرا رہا اور رات کو آ گ کی طرح دکھا ئی دیا۔ 17 جب بادل مقد س خیمہ کے اوپر اپنی جگہ سے چلتا تھا تو اسرائیلی اس کے ساتھ چلتے تھے۔ جب بادل رُک جا تا تب بنی اسرائیل وہاں اپنا خیمہ ڈالتے تھے۔ 18 اس طرح سے خداوند نے بنی اسرائیلیوں کو سفر کر نے کا حکم دیا۔ اور اس کے حکم کے مطا بق ہی وہ لوگ رُکے اور چھا ؤ نی لگا ئے۔ اور جب تک بادل چھا ؤ نی کے اوپر ٹھہرا رہتا تھا ، وہ لوگ اُسی جگہ پرچھا ؤنی ڈا لے رہتے تھے۔ 19 کبھی کبھی بادل مقدس خیمہ کے اوپر لمبے عرصے تک ٹھہرتا تھا اسرائیلی خداوند کا حکم مانتے تھے اور سفر نہیں کر تے تھے۔ 20 کبھی کبھی بادل مقدّس خیمہ کے اوپر کچھ ہی دنوں کے لئے رہتا تھا۔ اور لوگ خداوند کے حکم کی تعمیل کر تے تھے۔ وہ بادل کی تقلید تب کر تے جب وہ چلتا تھا۔ 21 کبھی کبھی بادل صرف رات میں ہی ٹھہرتا تھا اور جب بادل اگلی صبح چلتا تھا تب لوگ اپنی چیزیں اکٹھی کر تے تھے اور اُس کے مطا بق عمل کرتے تھے۔ رات میں یا دن میں اگر بادل چلتا تو لوگ اس کے ساتھ چلتے تھے۔ 22 اگر بادل خیمہ کے اوپر دودن یا ایک مہینہ یا ایک سال ٹھہرتا تھا تو لوگ خداوند کے حکم کی تعمیل کر تے رہتے تھے۔ وہ اسی جگہ چھا ؤنی میں ٹھہرتے تھے اور تب تک نہیں چلتے تھے جب تک بادل نہیں چلتا تھا۔ جب بادل اپنی جگہ سے اٹھتا اور چلتا تو لوگ بھی چلتے تھے۔ 23 اس طرح لوگ خداوند کے حکم کی تعمیل کرتے تھے۔ وہ وہاں چھا ؤنی لگا تے تھے جس جگہ کو خداوند دکھا تا تھا۔ اور خداوند جب انہیں جگہ چھو ڑنے کے لئے حکم دیتا تھا تب لوگ بادل کی اِتباع کرتے ہو ئے جگہ چھو ڑتے تھے۔ لوگ خداوند کے حکم کی تعمیل کرتے تھے۔ یہ حکم تھا جسے خداوند نے موسیٰ کے ذریعے انہیں دیا۔

The Passover
9 The Lord spoke to Moses in the Desert of Sinai in the first month(A) of the second year after they came out of Egypt.(B) He said, 2 “Have the Israelites celebrate the Passover(C) at the appointed time.(D) 3 Celebrate it at the appointed time, at twilight on the fourteenth day of this month,(E) in accordance with all its rules and regulations.(F)”
4 So Moses told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover,(G) 5 and they did so in the Desert of Sinai(H) at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.(I) The Israelites did everything just as the Lord commanded Moses.(J)
6 But some of them could not celebrate the Passover on that day because they were ceremonially unclean(K) on account of a dead body.(L) So they came to Moses and Aaron(M) that same day 7 and said to Moses, “We have become unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be kept from presenting the Lord’s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?(N)”
8 Moses answered them, “Wait until I find out what the Lord commands concerning you.”(O)
9 Then the Lord said to Moses, 10 “Tell the Israelites: ‘When any of you or your descendants are unclean because of a dead body(P) or are away on a journey, they are still to celebrate(Q) the Lord’s Passover, 11 but they are to do it on the fourteenth day of the second month(R) at twilight. They are to eat the lamb, together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.(S) 12 They must not leave any of it till morning(T) or break any of its bones.(U) When they celebrate the Passover, they must follow all the regulations.(V) 13 But if anyone who is ceremonially clean and not on a journey fails to celebrate the Passover, they must be cut off from their people(W) for not presenting the Lord’s offering at the appointed time. They will bear the consequences of their sin.
14 “‘A foreigner(X) residing among you is also to celebrate the Lord’s Passover in accordance with its rules and regulations. You must have the same regulations for both the foreigner and the native-born.’”
The Cloud Above the Tabernacle
15 On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law,(Y) was set up,(Z) the cloud(AA) covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire.(AB) 16 That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.(AC) 17 Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out;(AD) wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.(AE) 18 At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained(AF) in camp. 19 When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order(AG) and did not set out.(AH) 20 Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle only a few days; at the Lord’s command they would encamp, and then at his command they would set out. 21 Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out. 22 Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. 23 At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.

2 Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season.
3 In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it.
4 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the passover.
5 And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.
6 And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:
7 And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the Lord in his appointed season among the children of Israel?
8 And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the Lord will command concerning you.
9 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
10 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the Lord.
11 The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
12 They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.
13 But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the Lord in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
14 And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover unto the Lord; according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.
15 And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.
16 So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night.
17 And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.
18 At the commandment of the Lord the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the Lord they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.
19 And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the Lord, and journeyed not.
20 And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the Lord they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the Lord they journeyed.
21 And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.
22 Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.
23 At the commandment of the Lord they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the Lord they journeyed: they kept the charge of the Lord, at the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
