32 (A)(B)Рувимовото и Гадовото племе имаха многобройни стада добитък. И когато видяха, че язерската и галаадската земя са добра паша за стадата им, 2 Гадовите и Рувимовите потомци дойдоха и казаха на Мойсей, на свещеника Елеазар и на народните предводители: 3 „Градовете Атарот, Дивон, Язер и Нимра, Есевон и Елеале, Севам, Нево и Веон 4 в страната, която Господ порази пред обществото на Израил, е земя за паша на добитък, а твоите слуги имат добитък. 5 Затова, казаха те, ако имаме твоето благоволение, предай тази земя във владение на твоите слуги и не ни превеждай през Йордан!“

16 Но те пристъпиха към него и казаха: „Ще направим тук кошари за стадата си и градове за децата си, 17 а самите ние първи ще се въоръжим и ще тръгнем пред израилтяните, докато ги заведем в страната им; само децата ни ще останат в укрепените градове заради местните жители. 18 Няма да се завърнем по домовете си, докато всички израилтяни не влязат в своя дял от наследството, 19 защото ние няма да вземем дял заедно с тях отвъд Йордан и по-нататък, ако ни се даде наследство тук, на изток от Йордан.“

20 Тогава Мойсей им каза: „Ако направите това, ако тръгнете въоръжени на бой пред Господа, 21 ако всеки един от вас премине с оръжие Йордан пред Господа, докато Той изгони враговете Си, 22 страната бъде покорена пред Него и вие след това се върнете, тогава няма да имате вина пред Господа и пред Израил; тази земя тук ще ви бъде дадена от Господа, за да я владеете. 23 Но ако не постъпите така, ще съгрешите пред Господа; и тогава, знайте, грехът ви ще бъде възмезден. 24 Затова правете градове за децата си и кошари за овците си и сторете онова, което изрекоха устата ви!“

25 И Гадовите и Рувимовите потомци отговориха на Мойсей: „Твоите слуги ще направят, както господарят ни заповяда; 26 децата ни, жените ни, стадата ни и всичкият ни добитък ще останат тук, в Галаадските градове, 27 а слугите ти, всички, въоръжени като за война, ще отидат в битка пред Господа, както казва господарят ни.“

28 И Мойсей даде заради тях заръка на свещеника Елеазар, на Иисус, Навиновия син, и на предводителите на израилските племена; 29 той им каза: „Ако Гадовите и Рувимовите потомци преминат заедно с вас Йордан, всички въоръжени за бой пред Господа, и бъде завладяна страната пред вас, дайте им да владеят галаадската земя. 30 Но ако не искат да преминат въоръжени заедно с вас, нека да вземат земя за наследство сред вас в страната Ханаан.“ 31 Тогава Гадовите и Рувимовите потомци отговориха: „Както каза Господ на слугите ти, така ще направим. 32 Ние ще тръгнем въоръжени пред Господа за ханаанската страна, а делът, който ще владеем, нека бъде отсам Йордан.“

33 И така, Мойсей даде на Гадовите и Рувимовите потомци и на половината от племето на Манасия, Йосифовия син, царството на Сихон, аморейския цар, и царството на Ог, васанския цар, и цялата страна с градовете и техните околности. 34 Тогава Гадовите потомци съградиха Дивон, Атарот и Ароер, 35 Атарот-Шофан, Язер и Йогбеха, 36 Бет-Нимра и Бет-Харан, укрепени градове и кошари за овци. 37 А Рувимовите потомци съградиха Есевон, Елеале, Кириатаим, 38 Нево и Ваал-Меон – чиито имена бяха променени, както и Симва; на съградените от тях градове те дадоха други имена. 39 Потомците на Махир, Манасиевия син, се отправиха към Галаад; и като го превзеха, прогониха аморейците, които живееха там. 40 Затова Мойсей даде Галаад на Махир, Манасиевия син, и той се засели в него. 41 (E)А Манасиевият син Яир отиде и завладя селата им и ги нарече Яирови села. 42 Новах отиде и завладя Кенат и околните му села, като ги нарече на своето име – Новах.

The Tribes Settling East of the Jordan(A)

32 Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock; and when they saw the land of (B)Jazer and the land of (C)Gilead, that indeed the region was a place for livestock, 2 the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, to Eleazar the priest, and to the leaders of the congregation, saying, 3 “Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, (D)Nimrah, (E)Heshbon, Elealeh, (F)Shebam, Nebo, and (G)Beon, 4 the country (H)which the Lord defeated before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock.” 5 Therefore they said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Do not take us over the Jordan.”

6 And Moses said to the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben: “Shall your brethren go to war while you sit here? 7 Now why will you (I)discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the Lord has given them? 8 Thus your fathers did (J)when I sent them away from Kadesh Barnea (K)to see the land. 9 For (L)when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, so that they did not go into the land which the Lord had given them. 10 (M)So the Lord’s anger was aroused on that day, and He swore an oath, saying, 11 ‘Surely none of the men who came up from Egypt, (N)from twenty years old and above, shall see the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because (O)they have not wholly followed Me, 12 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, (P)for they have wholly followed the Lord.’ 13 So the Lord’s anger was aroused against Israel, and He made them (Q)wander in the wilderness forty years, until (R)all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone. 14 And look! You have risen in your fathers’ place, a brood of sinful men, to increase still more the (S)fierce anger of the Lord against Israel. 15 For if you (T)turn away from following Him, He will once again leave them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all these people.”

16 Then they came near to him and said: “We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones, 17 but (U)we ourselves will be armed, ready to go before the children of Israel until we have brought them to their place; and our little ones will dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land. 18 (V)We will not return to our homes until every one of the children of Israel has [a]received his inheritance. 19 For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, (W)because our inheritance has fallen to us on this eastern side of the Jordan.”

20 Then (X)Moses said to them: “If you do this thing, if you arm yourselves before the Lord for the war, 21 and all your armed men cross over the Jordan before the Lord until He has driven out His enemies from before Him, 22 and (Y)the land is subdued before the Lord, then afterward (Z)you may return and be blameless before the Lord and before Israel; and (AA)this land shall be your possession before the Lord. 23 But if you do not do so, then take note, you have sinned against the Lord; and be sure (AB)your sin will find you out. 24 (AC)Build cities for your little ones and folds for your sheep, and do [b]what has proceeded out of your mouth.”

25 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying: “Your servants will do as my lord commands. 26 (AD)Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock will be there in the cities of Gilead; 27 (AE)but your servants will cross over, every man armed for war, before the Lord to battle, just as my lord says.”

28 So Moses gave command (AF)concerning them to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel. 29 And Moses said to them: “If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben cross over the Jordan with you, every man armed for battle before the Lord, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead as a possession. 30 But if they do not cross over armed with you, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.”

31 Then the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying: “As the Lord has said to your servants, so we will do. 32 We will cross over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, but the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us on this side of the Jordan.”

33 So (AG)Moses gave to the children of Gad, to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, (AH)the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land with its cities within the borders, the cities of the surrounding country. 34 And the children of Gad built (AI)Dibon and Ataroth and (AJ)Aroer, 35 Atroth and Shophan and (AK)Jazer and Jogbehah, 36 (AL)Beth Nimrah and Beth Haran, (AM)fortified cities, and folds for sheep. 37 And the children of Reuben built (AN)Heshbon and Elealeh and Kirjathaim, 38 (AO)Nebo and (AP)Baal Meon (AQ)(their names being changed) and Shibmah; and they gave other names to the cities which they built.

39 And the children of (AR)Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and took it, and [c]dispossessed the Amorites who were in it. 40 So Moses (AS)gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he dwelt in it. 41 Also (AT)Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its small towns, and called them (AU)Havoth Jair.[d] 42 Then Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages, and he called it Nobah, after his own name.

32 Los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad tenían una muy inmensa muchedumbre de ganado; y vieron la tierra de Jazer y de Galaad, y les pareció el país lugar de ganado. 2 Vinieron, pues, los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén, y hablaron a Moisés y al sacerdote Eleazar, y a los príncipes de la congregación, diciendo: 3 Atarot, Dibón, Jazer, Nimra, Hesbón, Eleale, Sebam, Nebo y Beón, 4 la tierra que Jehová hirió delante de la congregación de Israel, es tierra de ganado, y tus siervos tienen ganado. 5 Por tanto, dijeron, si hallamos gracia en tus ojos, dése esta tierra a tus siervos en heredad, y no nos hagas pasar el Jordán.

6 Y respondió Moisés a los hijos de Gad y a los hijos de Rubén: ¿Irán vuestros hermanos a la guerra, y vosotros os quedaréis aquí? 7 ¿Y por qué desanimáis a los hijos de Israel, para que no pasen a la tierra que les ha dado Jehová? 8 Así hicieron vuestros padres, cuando los envié desde Cades-barnea para que viesen la tierra. 9 Subieron hasta el torrente de Escol, y después que vieron la tierra, desalentaron a los hijos de Israel para que no viniesen a la tierra que Jehová les había dado.(A) 10 Y la ira de Jehová se encendió entonces, y juró diciendo: 11 No verán los varones que subieron de Egipto de veinte años arriba, la tierra que prometí con juramento a Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, por cuanto no fueron perfectos en pos de mí; 12 excepto Caleb hijo de Jefone cenezeo, y Josué hijo de Nun, que fueron perfectos en pos de Jehová. 13 Y la ira de Jehová se encendió contra Israel, y los hizo andar errantes cuarenta años por el desierto, hasta que fue acabada toda aquella generación que había hecho mal delante de Jehová.(B) 14 Y he aquí, vosotros habéis sucedido en lugar de vuestros padres, prole de hombres pecadores, para añadir aún a la ira de Jehová contra Israel. 15 Si os volviereis de en pos de él, él volverá otra vez a dejaros en el desierto, y destruiréis a todo este pueblo.

16 Entonces ellos vinieron a Moisés y dijeron: Edificaremos aquí majadas para nuestro ganado, y ciudades para nuestros niños; 17 y nosotros nos armaremos, e iremos con diligencia delante de los hijos de Israel, hasta que los metamos en su lugar; y nuestros niños quedarán en ciudades fortificadas a causa de los moradores del país. 18 No volveremos a nuestras casas hasta que los hijos de Israel posean cada uno su heredad. 19 Porque no tomaremos heredad con ellos al otro lado del Jordán ni adelante, por cuanto tendremos ya nuestra heredad a este otro lado del Jordán al oriente. 20 Entonces les respondió Moisés: Si lo hacéis así, si os disponéis para ir delante de Jehová a la guerra, 21 y todos vosotros pasáis armados el Jordán delante de Jehová, hasta que haya echado a sus enemigos de delante de sí, 22 y sea el país sojuzgado delante de Jehová; luego volveréis, y seréis libres de culpa para con Jehová, y para con Israel; y esta tierra será vuestra en heredad delante de Jehová. 23 Mas si así no lo hacéis, he aquí habréis pecado ante Jehová; y sabed que vuestro pecado os alcanzará. 24 Edificaos ciudades para vuestros niños, y majadas para vuestras ovejas, y haced lo que ha declarado vuestra boca. 25 Y hablaron los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén a Moisés, diciendo: Tus siervos harán como mi señor ha mandado. 26 Nuestros niños, nuestras mujeres, nuestros ganados y todas nuestras bestias, estarán ahí en las ciudades de Galaad; 27 y tus siervos, armados todos para la guerra, pasarán delante de Jehová a la guerra, de la manera que mi señor dice.

28 Entonces les encomendó Moisés al sacerdote Eleazar, y a Josué hijo de Nun, y a los príncipes de los padres de las tribus de los hijos de Israel. 29 Y les dijo Moisés: Si los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén pasan con vosotros el Jordán, armados todos para la guerra delante de Jehová, luego que el país sea sojuzgado delante de vosotros, les daréis la tierra de Galaad en posesión; 30 mas si no pasan armados con vosotros, entonces tendrán posesión entre vosotros, en la tierra de Canaán. 31 Y los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén respondieron diciendo: Haremos lo que Jehová ha dicho a tus siervos. 32 Nosotros pasaremos armados delante de Jehová a la tierra de Canaán, y la posesión de nuestra heredad será a este lado del Jordán.(C)

33 Así Moisés dio a los hijos de Gad, a los hijos de Rubén, y a la media tribu de Manasés hijo de José, el reino de Sehón rey amorreo y el reino de Og rey de Basán, la tierra con sus ciudades y sus territorios, las ciudades del país alrededor. 34 Y los hijos de Gad edificaron Dibón, Atarot, Aroer, 35 Atarot-sofán, Jazer, Jogbeha, 36 Bet-nimra y Bet-arán, ciudades fortificadas; hicieron también majadas para ovejas. 37 Y los hijos de Rubén edificaron Hesbón, Eleale, Quiriataim, 38 Nebo, Baal-meón (mudados los nombres) y Sibma; y pusieron nombres a las ciudades que edificaron. 39 Y los hijos de Maquir hijo de Manasés fueron a Galaad, y la tomaron, y echaron al amorreo que estaba en ella. 40 Y Moisés dio Galaad a Maquir hijo de Manasés, el cual habitó en ella. 41 También Jair hijo de Manasés fue y tomó sus aldeas, y les puso por nombre Havot-jair.[a] 42 Asimismo Noba fue y tomó Kenat y sus aldeas, y lo llamó Noba, conforme a su nombre.
