Победна песен на Девора и Варак
5 Тогава Девора запя тази песен заедно с Варак, потомъка на Авиноам:
2 „Затова, че храбри воини предвождаха Израил,
затова че народът прояви усърдие –
прославете Господа!
3 Слушайте, царе, внимавайте, вождове!
Аз ще пея и свиря за възхвала на Господа,
на Господа, Бога Израилев.
4 (A)Когато Ти, Господи, потегли от Сеир,
когато Ти тръгна от страната на Едом,
тогава земята се разтърси, от небето валеше дъжд
и от облаците се изляха води;
5 планините се топяха от присъствието на Господа –
самият Синай потрепери от присъствието на Господа, Бога Израилев.
6 (B)В дните на Самегар, наследник на Анат,
в дните на Яил пътищата пустееха
и пътниците тогава вървяха по околни пътеки вместо по преки пътища.
7 Изчезнаха жителите по селата, изчезнаха сред Израил,
докато аз, Девора, не се въздигнах, докато не се въздигнах аз – майката на Израил.
8 (C)Народът избра нови богове,
затова се разрази войната пред вратата му.
Видяха ли се щит и копие
сред четиридесет хиляди мъже от Израил?
9 Сърцето ми е към вас, храбри вождове на Израил,
към мъжете доброволци сред народа –
прославете Господа!
10 Вие, които гордо яздите на бели осли,
които седите на килими
и шествате по улиците – пейте песен!
11 Сред хорови песнопения при кладенци,

В областите на Рувимовото племе
ехтят силни прения.
17 Галаад обитава отвъд Йордан,
а защо племето на Дан седи в корабите?
Племето Асирово стои на морския бряг
и спокойно си живее при своите заливи.
18 Племето на Завулон е народ, изложил на смърт живота си,
както и племето на Нефталим – по полските височини.
19 (D)Дойдоха царе, влязоха в битки,
тогава влязоха в битки ханаанските царе
в Танаах, при водите на Мегидон,
но плячка от сребро не взеха.
20 Звездите от небето воюваха,
воюваха с небесните си движения против Сисар.
21 Поток Кисон с буйни води завлече враговете,
поток Кедумим, поток Кисон.
Мощно се устреми ти, душо моя!
22 Тогава се чупеха конски копита
от стремглава езда,
от ездата на силните им ездачи.
23 Прокълнете Мероз – казва Господният ангел, –
горко прокълнете жителите му,
защото не дойдоха на помощ на Господа,
на помощ на Господа срещу храбрите.
24 (E)Да бъде благословена между жените
Яил, жената на кенееца Хевер,
да бъде благословена между жените в шатрите!
25 Той вода поиска;
тя мляко му даде, във великолепна чаша най-добрата напитка му предложи.
26 Лявата си ръка тя протегна към кола,
а дясната – към ковашкия чук;
удари Сисар, разби главата му,
смаза и прониза слепите му очи.
27 При нозете ѝ се сгърчи, падна и се простря,

където се сгърчи, там падна мъртъв.
28 През прозореца надничаше Сисаровата майка.
През решетката крещеше тя:
‘Защо се бави да дойде конницата му,
защо закъсняват колелетата на колесницата му?’
29 Нейните мъдри придворни ѝ отговарят
и даже сама тя дава отговор на себе си:
30 ‘Навярно плячкосват, поделят си плячка и я делят –
по девойка робиня, по две девойки на всеки воин;
та това е плячка за Сисар от пъстрошарени дрехи,
плячка от пъстрошарени везани дрехи,
от пъстрошарени дрехи, от две страни везани,
снети от рамене на пленници.’
31 (F)Така да погинат всички Твои врагове, Господи!
А онези, които обичат Господа, да бъдат като слънце, което изгрява в целия си блясък.“
След това по тази страна настъпи спокойствие от врагове в продължение на четиридесет години.

5 In that day Debbora and Barac son of Abinoem sung, and said:
2 O you of Israel, that have willingly offered your lives to danger, bless the Lord.
3 Hear, O ye kings, give ear, ye princes: It is I, it is I, that will sing to the Lord, I will sing to the Lord the God of Israel.
4 O Lord, when thou wentest out of Seir, and passedst by the regions of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped water.
5 The mountains melted before the face of the Lord, and Sinai before the face of the Lord the God of Israel.
6 In the days of Samgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jahel the paths rested: and they that went by them, walked through by-ways.
7 The valiant men ceased, and rested in Israel: until Debbora arose, a mother arose in Israel.
8 The Lord chose new wars, and he himself overthrew the gates of the enemies: a shield and spear was not seen among forty thousand of Israel.
9 My heart loveth the princes of Israel: O you that of your own good will offered yourselves to danger, bless the Lord.
10 Speak, you that ride upon fair asses, and you that sit in judgment, and walk in the way.
11 Where the chariots were dashed together, and the army of the enemies was choked, there let the justices of the Lord be rehearsed, and his clemency towards the brave men of Israel: then the people of the Lord went down to the gates, and obtained the sovereignty.
12 Arise, arise, O Debbora, arise, arise, and utter a canticle. Arise, Barac, and take hold of thy captives, O son of Abinoem.
13 The remnants of the people are saved, the Lord hath fought among the valiant ones.
14 Out of Ephraim he destroyed them into Amalec, and after him out of Benjamin into thy people, O Amalec: Out of Machir there came down princes, and out of Zabulon they that led the army to fight.
15 The captains of Issachar were with Debbora, and followed the steps of Barac, who exposed himself to danger, as one going headlong, and into a pit. Ruben being divided against himself, there was found a strife of courageous men.
16 Why dwellest thou between two borders, that thou mayest hear the bleatings of the flocks? Ruben being divided against himself, there was found a strife of courageous men.
17 Galaad rested beyond the Jordan, and Dan applied himself to ships: Aser dwelt on the sea shore, and abode in the havens.
18 But Zabulon and Nephtali offered their lives to death in the region of Merome.
19 The kings came and fought, the kings of Chanaan fought in Thanach by the waters of Mageddo, and yet they took no spoils.
20 War from heaven was made against them, the stars remaining in their order and courses fought against Sisara.
21 The torrent of Cison dragged their carcasses, the torrent of Cadumim, the torrent of Cisoii: tread thou, my soul, upon the strong ones.
22 The hoofs of the horses were broken whilst the stoutest of the enemies fled amain, and fell headlong down.
23 Curse ye the land of Meroz, said the angel of the Lord: curse the inhabitants thereof, because they came not to the help of the Lord, to help his most valiant men.
24 Blessed among women be Jahel the wife of Haber the Cinite, and blessed be she in her tent.
25 He asked her water and she gave him milk, and offered him butter in a dish fit for princes.
26 She put her left hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workman's hammer, and she struck Sisara, seeking in his head a place for the wound, and strongly piercing through his temples.
27 At her feet he fell: he fainted, and he died: he rolled before her feet, and he lay lifeless and wretched.
28 His mother looked out at a window, and howled: and she spoke from the dining room: Why is his chariot so long in coming back? Why are the feet of his horses so slow?
29 One that was wiser than the rest of his wives, returned this answer to her mother in law:
30 Perhaps he is now dividing the spoils, and the fairest of the women is chosen out for him: garments of divers colours are given to Sisara for his prey, and furniture of different kinds is heaped together to adorn the necks.
31 So let all thy enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love thee shine, as the sun shineth in his rising.
32 And the land rested for forty years.

5 On that day Deborah(A) and Barak son of Abinoam(B) sang this song:(C)
2 “When the princes in Israel take the lead,
when the people willingly offer(D) themselves—
praise the Lord!(E)
3 “Hear this, you kings! Listen, you rulers!
I, even I, will sing to[a] the Lord;(F)
I will praise the Lord, the God of Israel, in song.(G)
4 “When you, Lord, went out(H) from Seir,(I)
when you marched from the land of Edom,
the earth shook,(J) the heavens poured,
the clouds poured down water.(K)
5 The mountains quaked(L) before the Lord, the One of Sinai,
before the Lord, the God of Israel.
6 “In the days of Shamgar son of Anath,(M)
in the days of Jael,(N) the highways(O) were abandoned;
travelers took to winding paths.(P)
7 Villagers in Israel would not fight;
they held back until I, Deborah,(Q) arose,
until I arose, a mother in Israel.
8 God chose new leaders(R)
when war came to the city gates,(S)
but not a shield or spear(T) was seen
among forty thousand in Israel.
9 My heart is with Israel’s princes,
with the willing volunteers(U) among the people.
Praise the Lord!
10 “You who ride on white donkeys,(V)
sitting on your saddle blankets,
and you who walk along the road,
consider 11 the voice of the singers[b] at the watering places.
They recite the victories(W) of the Lord,
the victories of his villagers in Israel.
“Then the people of the Lord
went down to the city gates.(X)
12 ‘Wake up,(Y) wake up, Deborah!(Z)
Wake up, wake up, break out in song!
Arise, Barak!(AA)
Take captive your captives,(AB) son of Abinoam.’
13 “The remnant of the nobles came down;
the people of the Lord came down to me against the mighty.
14 Some came from Ephraim,(AC) whose roots were in Amalek;(AD)
Benjamin(AE) was with the people who followed you.
From Makir(AF) captains came down,
from Zebulun those who bear a commander’s[c] staff.
15 The princes of Issachar(AG) were with Deborah;(AH)
yes, Issachar was with Barak,(AI)
sent under his command into the valley.
In the districts of Reuben
there was much searching of heart.
16 Why did you stay among the sheep pens[d](AJ)
to hear the whistling for the flocks?(AK)
In the districts of Reuben

17 Gilead(AL) stayed beyond the Jordan.
And Dan, why did he linger by the ships?
Asher(AM) remained on the coast(AN)
and stayed in his coves.
18 The people of Zebulun(AO) risked their very lives;
so did Naphtali(AP) on the terraced fields.(AQ)
19 “Kings came(AR), they fought,
the kings of Canaan fought.
At Taanach, by the waters of Megiddo,(AS)
they took no plunder of silver.(AT)
20 From the heavens(AU) the stars fought,
from their courses they fought against Sisera.
21 The river Kishon(AV) swept them away,
the age-old river, the river Kishon.
March on, my soul; be strong!(AW)
22 Then thundered the horses’ hooves—
galloping, galloping go his mighty steeds.(AX)
23 ‘Curse Meroz,’ said the angel of the Lord.
‘Curse its people bitterly,
because they did not come to help the Lord,
to help the Lord against the mighty.’
24 “Most blessed of women(AY) be Jael,(AZ)
the wife of Heber the Kenite,(BA)
most blessed of tent-dwelling women.
25 He asked for water, and she gave him milk;(BB)
in a bowl fit for nobles she brought him curdled milk.
26 Her hand reached for the tent peg,
her right hand for the workman’s hammer.
She struck Sisera, she crushed his head,
she shattered and pierced his temple.(BC)
27 At her feet he sank,
he fell; there he lay.
At her feet he sank, he fell;
where he sank, there he fell—dead(BD).
28 “Through the window(BE) peered Sisera’s mother;
behind the lattice she cried out,(BF)
‘Why is his chariot so long in coming?
Why is the clatter of his chariots delayed?’
29 The wisest of her ladies answer her;
indeed, she keeps saying to herself,
30 ‘Are they not finding and dividing the spoils:(BG)
a woman or two for each man,
colorful garments as plunder for Sisera,
colorful garments embroidered,
highly embroidered garments(BH) for my neck—
all this as plunder?(BI)’
31 “So may all your enemies perish,(BJ) Lord!
But may all who love you be like the sun(BK)
when it rises in its strength.”(BL)
Then the land had peace(BM) forty years.
