1 Господнето слово, което дойде към Софония, син на Хусия, син на Годолия, син на Амария, Езекиевия син, в дните на Юдовия цар Иосия, Амоновия син: -
2 Съвсем ще погубя всичко От лицето на земята, казва Господ.
3 Ще погубя човек и животно, Ще погубя въздушните птици, и морските риби, И съблазнителните идоли заедно с нечестивите; И ще изтребя човека от лицето на земята, казва Господ.
4 Ще простра ръката си върху Юда И върху всичките Ерусалимски жители ; И ще изтребя от това място останалите Ваалови служители, И името на идолските жреци заедно със свещениците;
5 Ще изтребя и ония, които, върху къщните покриви, се кланят на небесното множество, И ония поклонници, които се кълнат в Господа, Но които се кълнат в Мелхома;
6 Тоже ще изтребя ония, които са се отклонили от господа, И които не търсят Господа нито питат за него,
7 Мълчи пред присъствието на Господа Иеова, Защото е близо денят Господен; Защото Господ приготви жертва, Освети поканените си.
8 И в деня на жертвата Господна Ще накажа първенците и царевите чада, И всички, които са облекли чуждестранни дрехи.
9 В оня ден ще накажа и всички, които прескачат праговете, Които пълнят къщите на господарите си с грабителство и измама.
10 И в оня ден, казва Господ, Ще се чуе метежен вик от рибната порта. Ридание от втория квартал, И голям трясък от хълмите.
11 Плачете, жители на Мактес, Защото се изтребиха всичките търговски люде, Погубени бидоха всички, които бяха товарени със сребро.
12 И в онова време Ще претърся Ерусалим с ламби, И ще накажа мъжете, които почиват на дрождието си, Които думат в сърцето си - Господ няма да стори ни добро, ни зло.
13 За това, имотът им ще бъде разграбен, И къщите им запустени; Да! ще построят къщи, но няма да живеят в тях. И ще насадят лозя, но няма да пият виното им.
14 Близо е великият ден Господен. Близо, и много бърза, - Гласът на деня Господен; Там ще извика горчиво и силният.
15 Ден на гняв е оня ден, Ден на смущение и на утеснение, Ден на опустошение и на разорение, Ден на тъмнина и на мрак, Ден на облак и на гъста мъгла,
16 Ден на тръба и на тревога Против укрепените градове И против високите кули при ъглите.
17 Аз така ще наскърбя човеците Щото ще ходят като слепи, Защото са съгрешили против Господа; Кръвта им ще се излее като прах, И месата им като лайно.
18 Нито среброто им, нито златото им Ще може да ги избави В деня на гнева Господен; Но цялата земя ще бъде погълната От огъня на ревнивостта му; Защото ще довърши, и то скоро, Всичките жители на земята.

New International Version
1 The word of the Lord that came to Zephaniah son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, during the reign of Josiah(A) son of Amon(B) king of Judah:
Judgment on the Whole Earth in the Day of the Lord
2 “I will sweep away everything
from the face of the earth,”(C)
declares the Lord.
3 “I will sweep away both man and beast;(D)
I will sweep away the birds in the sky(E)
and the fish in the sea—
and the idols that cause the wicked to stumble.”[a]
“When I destroy all mankind
on the face of the earth,”(F)
declares the Lord,(G)
4 “I will stretch out my hand(H) against Judah
and against all who live in Jerusalem.
I will destroy every remnant of Baal worship in this place,(I)
the very names of the idolatrous priests(J)—
5 those who bow down on the roofs
to worship the starry host,(K)
those who bow down and swear by the Lord
and who also swear by Molek,[b](L)
6 those who turn back from following(M) the Lord
and neither seek(N) the Lord nor inquire(O) of him.”
7 Be silent(P) before the Sovereign Lord,
for the day of the Lord(Q) is near.
The Lord has prepared a sacrifice;(R)
he has consecrated those he has invited.
8 “On the day of the Lord’s sacrifice
I will punish(S) the officials
and the king’s sons(T)
and all those clad
in foreign clothes.
9 On that day I will punish
all who avoid stepping on the threshold,[c](U)
who fill the temple of their gods
with violence and deceit.(V)
10 “On that day,(W)”
declares the Lord,
“a cry will go up from the Fish Gate,(X)
wailing(Y) from the New Quarter,
and a loud crash from the hills.
11 Wail,(Z) you who live in the market district[d];
all your merchants will be wiped out,
all who trade with[e] silver will be destroyed.(AA)
12 At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps
and punish those who are complacent,(AB)
who are like wine left on its dregs,(AC)
who think, ‘The Lord will do nothing,(AD)
either good or bad.’(AE)
13 Their wealth will be plundered,(AF)
their houses demolished.
Though they build houses,
they will not live in them;
though they plant vineyards,
they will not drink the wine.”(AG)
14 The great day of the Lord(AH) is near(AI)—
near and coming quickly.
The cry on the day of the Lord is bitter;
the Mighty Warrior shouts his battle cry.
15 That day will be a day of wrath—
a day of distress and anguish,
a day of trouble and ruin,
a day of darkness(AJ) and gloom,
a day of clouds and blackness(AK)—
16 a day of trumpet and battle cry(AL)
against the fortified cities
and against the corner towers.(AM)
17 “I will bring such distress(AN) on all people
that they will grope about like those who are blind,(AO)
because they have sinned against the Lord.
Their blood will be poured out(AP) like dust
and their entrails like dung.(AQ)
18 Neither their silver nor their gold
will be able to save them
on the day of the Lord’s wrath.”(AR)

1 Éste es el mensaje que el Señor dirigió a Sofonías en el tiempo en que Josías, hijo de Amón, era rey de Judá. Sofonías era hijo de Cusí, éste de Guedalías, éste de Amarías y éste de Ezequías.
2 Esto afirma el Señor:
«Voy a destruir completamente
todo lo que hay sobre la tierra.
3 Destruiré a los hombres y los animales, destruiré las aves y los peces,
pondré tropiezo a los malvados
y eliminaré de la tierra al hombre.»
Esto afirma el Señor:
4 «Extenderé mi mano contra el pueblo de Judá
y contra todos los que viven en Jerusalén.
Borraré de este lugar todo rastro
del falso dios Baal,
y hasta el nombre de sus sacerdotes.
5 Destruiré a los que suben a las azoteas
para adorar a los astros,
y a los que se arrodillan
jurando al mismo tiempo por mi nombre
y por el nombre del dios Milcom.
6 También destruiré a los que se apartan de mí,
a los que no me buscan ni acuden a consultarme.»
7 ¡Guarden silencio en presencia del Señor,
porque el día del Señor está cerca!
¡El Señor ha dispuesto un sacrificio
y ha consagrado a sus invitados!
8 «En el día del sacrificio
castigaré a los jefes —dice el Señor—,
a los hijos del rey
y a todos los que visten ropa extraña.
9 También castigaré en aquel día
a los que saltan sobre los umbrales,
y a los que llenan de violencia y engaños
la casa de sus amos.»
10 Esto afirma el Señor:
«En aquel día se oirán gritos de socorro
desde la Puerta de los Pescados.
Gritará la gente en el Segundo Barrio
y habrá gran ruido de derrumbes desde las colinas.
11 ¡Aúllen ustedes, habitantes del Barrio del Mortero,
porque todos los comerciantes van a morir,
todos los que trafican con dinero van a ser destruidos!
12 »En aquel tiempo tomaré una lámpara
y registraré Jerusalén.
Castigaré entonces a la gente
que se siente tranquila
como el vino reposado,
y que se dice a sí misma:
“¡El Señor no hará nada, ni bueno ni malo!”
13 Por eso, sus tesoros serán saqueados
y sus casas destruidas.
Construirán casas, pero no vivirán en ellas;
plantarán viñas, pero no beberán de su vino.»
14 ¡Ya está cerca el gran día del Señor!
¡Ya está cerca, viene de prisa!
El estruendo del día del Señor será amargo:
¡hasta los más valientes gritarán entonces!
15 Será un día de ira,
de angustia y aflicción,
de ruina y desolación,
de oscuridad y tinieblas,
de nublado y sombras profundas;
16 será un día de trompeta y de clamor
contra las ciudades fortificadas
y sus altas torres.
17 Dice el Señor:
«Pondré en apuros a la gente.
Caminarán como ciegos,
porque pecaron contra mí.
Su sangre será derramada como polvo,
y su carne amontonada como estiércol.»
18 En el día de la ira del Señor,
no salvará a la gente ni su plata ni su oro,
porque el fuego del enojo del Señor
consumirá todo el país.
¡Todos los habitantes de la tierra
quedarán destruidos en un solo instante!
