55 (По слав. 54). За първия певец, на струнни инструменти. Давидово поучение. Послушай, Боже, молитвата ми. И не се крий от молбата ми.
2 Внимавай в мене и отговори ми. Безпокоя се в тъженето си, и стена;
3 Поради гласа на неприятеля, Поради притеснението на нечестивия; Защото приписват на мене беззаконие, И с гняв ми враждуват,
4 Сърцето ми тъжи дълбоко в мене, И смъртен ужас ме нападна;
5 Страх и трепет дойдоха върху мене, И ужас ме потопи.
6 И рекох: Дано да имах крила като на гълъба! Щях да отлетя и да си почина.
7 Ето, щях да бягам надалеч, Щях да живея в пустинята; (Села).
8 Щях да ускоря бягането си От вихъра и от бурята.
9 Опропасти <ги>, Господи, и раздели съвета {Еврейски: Езика.} им; Защото видях насилие и разпри в града.
10 Денем и нощем го обикалят по стените му, И беззаконие и зло има всред него;
11 Нечестие има всред него; Угнетение и измама не се отдалечават от улиците му.
12 Понеже не беше неприятел, който ме укори, - Това бих претърпял, - Нито беше оня, що ме мразеше, който се подигна против мене, - Тогава бих се скрил от него;
13 Но ти, човек равен на мене, Другар мой, и мой близък приятел.
14 Заедно се разговаряхме сладко, С множеството ходехме в Божия дом.
15 Нека дойде ненадейно смърт на тях. Нека слязат живи в преизподнята; Защото в жилищата им, и в сърцата им <има> злодейство.
16 Но аз към Бога ще извикам; И Господ ще ме избави.
17 Вечер и заран и на пладне ще се оплаквам и ще стена; И Той ще чуе гласа ми.
18 Ще избави душата ми и ще я успокои от боя, който е против мене; Защото мнозина са с мене.
19 Бог, Който се е възцарил преди вековете, Ще чуе и ще ги съкруши, (Села). <Ще съкруши човеците>, които неизменимо {Еврейски: Нямат изменения и.} Не се боят от Бога.
20 Всеки един от тях простира ръце против ония, които са в мир с него; Нарушава съюза си.
21 Устата му са по-мазни от масло, Но в сърцето му има война; Думите му са по-меки от дървено масло, Но пак са голи саби.
22 Възложи на Господа това, което ти е възложил и Той ще те подпре; Никога не ще допусне да се поклати праведният.
23 Но Ти, Боже, ще ги сведеш в гибелния ров; Мъже кръвопийци и измамници няма да стигнат и до половината на дните си; Но аз ще уповавам на Тебе.

55 (A)За първия певец. За съпровод със струнни инструменти. Поучителен. На Давид.
2 [a] Боже, вслушай се в молитвата ми
и не пренебрегвай молбата ми.
3 Чуй ме и ми отговори.
Безпокоя се в грижата си и стена
4 от гласа на врага,
заради притеснението от нечестивия,
понеже ми приписват беззакония
и с гняв враждуват против мене.
5 Сърцето ми трепери вътре в мене
и смъртен ужас ме нападна.
6 Страх и трепет ме връхлетяха,
ужас ме обзе.
7 (B)И аз казах: „Кой би ми дал криле на гълъб?
Щях да отлетя и да намеря покой.
8 Ето бих отлетял далече
и щях да нощувам в пустинята.
9 Побързал бих да се скрия
в прибежище от силния вятър и бурята.“
10 Господи, раздели и объркай техните езици,
защото виждам насилия и разпри в града.
11 Обикалят върху стените му денем и нощем,
злодейства и злини са в него.
12 Всред него вилнее нечестие.
Насилието и измамата не напускат площадите му.
13 Ако враг бе ме похулил,
щях да понеса това;
и ако някой се бе отнесъл високомерно към мене,
бих се скрил от него.
14 (C)Но това си ти, човек, на мене равен,
мой другар и близък мой приятел!
15 Споделяхме мисли с доверие,
ходехме заедно сред множеството в Божия храм.
16 Смърт да ги сполети тези клеветници!
Да слязат живи у преизподнята,
понеже има злодейства в жилището им и вътре в тях.
17 Аз пък ще призова Бога
и Господ ще ме спаси.
18 Вечер, сутрин и по пладне ще въздишам и ще стена,
и Той ще чуе моя глас.
19 Той ще избави моята душа от онези, които ме нападат, и ще ми дари мир,
защото мнозина са против мене.
20 (D)Бог, Който от вечност седи на трона,
ще чуе и ще им отговори,
понеже у тях няма промяна
и те не се боят от Бога.
21 Враждуващият простря ръце срещу онези, които бяха в мир с него,
той оскверни своя съюз.
22 (E)Устата му са по-мазни от масло,
но вражда владее сърцето му.
Думите му са по-меки от маслиново масло,
но са като остри мечове.
23 (F)Възложи на Господа своето бреме и Той ще те подкрепи.
Той няма да допусне никога праведният да падне.

Psalm 55
To the Chief Musician; with stringed instruments. A skillful song, or a didactic or reflective poem, of David.
1 Listen to my prayer, O God, and hide not Yourself from my supplication!
2 Attend to me and answer me; I am restless and distraught in my complaint and must moan
3 [And I am distracted] at the noise of the enemy, because of the oppression and threats of the wicked; for they would cast trouble upon me, and in wrath they persecute me.
4 My heart is grievously pained within me, and the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
5 Fear and trembling have come upon me; horror and fright have overwhelmed me.
6 And I say, Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.
7 Yes, I would wander far away, I would lodge in the wilderness. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
8 I would hasten to escape and to find a shelter from the stormy wind and tempest.
9 Destroy [their schemes], O Lord, confuse their tongues, for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
10 Day and night they go about on its walls; iniquity and mischief are in its midst.
11 Violence and ruin are within it; fraud and guile do not depart from its streets and marketplaces.
12 For it is not an enemy who reproaches and taunts me—then I might bear it; nor is it one who has hated me who insolently vaunts himself against me—then I might hide from him.
13 But it was you, a man my equal, my companion and my familiar friend.
14 We had sweet fellowship together and used to walk to the house of God in company.
15 Let desolations and death come suddenly upon them; let them go down alive to Sheol (the place of the dead), for evils are in their habitations, in their hearts, and their inmost part.
16 As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord will save me.
17 Evening and morning and at noon will I utter my complaint and moan and sigh, and He will hear my voice.
18 He has redeemed my life in peace from the battle that was against me [so that none came near me], for they were many who strove with me.
19 God will hear and humble them, even He Who abides of old—Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!—because in them there has been no change [of heart], and they do not fear, revere, and worship God.
20 [My companion] has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; he has broken and profaned his agreement [of friendship and loyalty].
21 The words of his mouth were smoother than cream or butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.
22 Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).(A)
23 But You, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of destruction; men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in, lean on, and confidently rely on You.

55 Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.
2 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;
3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.
4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.
6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.
8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.
9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.
15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.
16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.
17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.
19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.
20 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.
21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
