7 Сине мой, пази думите ми, И запазвай заповедите ми при себе си.
2 Пази заповедите ми и ще живееш - И поуката ми, като зеницата на очите си.
3 Вържи ги за пръстите си, Начертай ги на плочата на сърцето си,
4 Кажи на мъдростта: Сестра ми си; И наречи разума сродник,
5 За да те пазят от чужда жена, От чужда жена, която ласкае с думите си.
6 Понеже, като погледнах през решетките На прозореца на къщата си
7 Видях между безумните, Съгледах между младежите, Един млад, безумен човек.
8 Който минаваше по улицата близо до ъгъла й, И отиваше по пътя към къщата й.
9 Беше в дрезгавината, когато се свечери, В мрака на нощта и в тъмнината.
10 И посрещна го жена, Облечена като блудница и с хитро сърце;
11 (Бъбрица и упорита, - Нозете й не остават в къщи
12 Кога по улиците кога по площадите, Тя причаква при всеки ъгъл);
13 Като го хвана, целуна го И с безсрамно лице му каза:
14 Като бях задължена да принеса примирителни жертви, Днес изпълних обреците си,
15 Затова излязох да те посрещна С желание да видя лицето ти и намерих те.
16 Постлала съм леглото с красиви покривки, С шарени платове от египетска прежда.
17 Покрила съм леглото си Със смирна, алой и канела.
18 Ела, нека се наситим с любов до зори. Нека се насладим с милувки.
19 Защото мъжът ми не е у дома. Замина на дълъг път;
20 Взе кесия с пари в ръката си, Чак на пълнолуние ще се върне у дома.
21 С многото си предумки тя го прелъга, Привлече го с ласкателството на устните си.
22 Изведнъж той тръгна подире й, Както отива говедо на клане, Или както безумен в окови за наказание,
23 Докато стрела прониза дроба му, - Както птица бърза към примката, без да знае, че това е против живота й.
24 Сега, прочее, чада, послушайте ме. И внимавайте в думите на устата ми.
25 Да се не уклонява сърцето ти в пътищата й, Да се не заблудиш в пътеките й;
26 Защото мнозина е направила да паднат ранени; И силни са всичките убити от нея.
27 Домът й е път към ада, И води надолу в клетките на смъртта.

La seducción
7 Hijo mío, conserva mis palabras
y guarda en tu interior mis mandatos.
2 Conserva mis mandatos y vivirás,
cuida mi enseñanza como a la niña de tus ojos.
3 Átatelos en tus dedos,
escríbelos en tu mente.
4 Hermánate con la sabiduría
y emparenta con la inteligencia,
5 para que te protejan de la mujer ajena,
de la extraña de palabras seductoras.
6 Un día estaba yo en la ventana de mi casa,
observando entre las rejas;
7 miraba a una pandilla de incautos
y distinguí entre ellos a un joven insensato:
8 cruzó la calle, junto a la esquina,
y se encaminó a la casa de la mujer.
9 Era la hora del ocaso, al caer la tarde,
cuando llega la noche y oscurece.
10 Entonces una mujer le salió al paso
con ropas y ademanes de prostituta.
11 Bullanguera y descarada,
sus pies nunca paran en casa.
12 Un rato en la calle, otro en la plaza,
en cualquier esquina hace la espera.
13 Ella le echó mano, lo besó
y descaradamente le dijo:
14 “Tenía prometidos unos sacrificios
y hoy he cumplido mis promesas;
15 por eso he salido a buscarte;
tenía ganas de verte y te he encontrado.
16 He cubierto mi lecho de colchas
y sábanas de lino egipcio;
17 he perfumado mi alcoba con mirra,
con áloe y con canela.
18 Saciémonos de caricias hasta el amanecer
y disfrutemos de los placeres del amor;
19 mi marido no está en casa:
ha emprendido un largo viaje,
20 se ha llevado la bolsa del dinero
y no volverá a casa hasta la luna llena”.
21 Con todas estas artes lo sedujo,
lo rindió con sus labios lisonjeros
22 e inmediatamente él la siguió,
como buey llevado al matadero,
como ciervo atrapado en la red;
23 una flecha le atraviesa las entrañas
y como pájaro cae en la trampa,
sin saber que le va a costar la vida.
24 Y ahora, hijo mío, escúchame
y presta atención a mis palabras:
25 no te dejes arrastrar por ella,
no te extravíes tras sus huellas,
26 porque ha dejado a muchos malheridos
y sus víctimas son muy numerosas.
27 Su casa es el camino del abismo
que baja a la morada de la muerte.

Warning Against the Adulterous Woman
7 My son,(A) keep my words
and store up my commands within you.
2 Keep my commands and you will live;(B)
guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.
3 Bind them on your fingers;
write them on the tablet of your heart.(C)
4 Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
and to insight, “You are my relative.”
5 They will keep you from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words.(D)
6 At the window of my house
I looked down through the lattice.
7 I saw among the simple,
I noticed among the young men,
a youth who had no sense.(E)
8 He was going down the street near her corner,
walking along in the direction of her house
9 at twilight,(F) as the day was fading,
as the dark of night set in.
10 Then out came a woman to meet him,
dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent.
11 (She is unruly(G) and defiant,
her feet never stay at home;
12 now in the street, now in the squares,
at every corner she lurks.)(H)
13 She took hold of him(I) and kissed him
and with a brazen face she said:(J)
14 “Today I fulfilled my vows,
and I have food from my fellowship offering(K) at home.
15 So I came out to meet you;
I looked for you and have found you!
16 I have covered my bed
with colored linens from Egypt.
17 I have perfumed my bed(L)
with myrrh,(M) aloes and cinnamon.
18 Come, let’s drink deeply of love till morning;
let’s enjoy ourselves with love!(N)
19 My husband is not at home;
he has gone on a long journey.
20 He took his purse filled with money
and will not be home till full moon.”
21 With persuasive words she led him astray;
she seduced him with her smooth talk.(O)
22 All at once he followed her
like an ox going to the slaughter,
like a deer[a] stepping into a noose[b](P)
23 till an arrow pierces(Q) his liver,
like a bird darting into a snare,
little knowing it will cost him his life.(R)
