Просьба о знамении
(Мк. 8:11-13; Лк. 12:54-56)
16 Фарисеи и саддукеи пришли к Иисусу и, желая испытать Его, попросили Его совершить чудо, чтобы им было с неба знамение Божье.
2 В ответ Он сказал им: «На закате солнца вы говорите: „Будет хорошая погода, так как небо багровое”. 3 На рассвете же говорите: „Сегодня будет ненастно, так как небо багровое и сумрачное”. Вы умеете различать, как выглядит небо, но не способны различить знамения этого времени. 4 Злое и неверное поколение ищет знамения, но оно не будет ему дано, кроме знамения Ионы»[a]. И покинув их, Он ушёл оттуда.
Предостережение Иисуса
(Мк. 8:14-21)
5 Ученики Иисуса переправились на другую сторону озера, но забыли взять с собой хлеб. 6 Тогда Иисус сказал им: «Осторожно! Берегитесь фарисейской и саддукейской закваски».
7 Они стали обсуждать это между собой: «Он, наверное, сказал это потому, что мы не взяли с собой хлеб».
8 Иисус же знал, о чём они говорят, и поэтому спросил их: «Маловерные, почему говорите между собой, что у вас нет хлеба? 9 Неужели вы так до сих пор ничего и не поняли? Вспомните о тех пяти хлебах, которые накормили пять тысяч человек, и о тех корзинах, что вы наполнили. 10 Разве вы не помните о тех семи хлебах, что накормили четыре тысячи человек и о том, сколько корзин вы наполнили остатками? 11 Как это вы не понимаете, что Я не о хлебе говорю, а о том, что вы должны остерегаться фарисейской и саддукейской закваски!»
12 И тогда они поняли, что Иисус предостерегает их не от хлебной закваски, а от фарисейского и саддукейского учения.
Пётр говорит, что Иисус—Христос

13 Когда Иисус пришёл в окрестности Кесарии Филипповой, то спросил Своих учеников: «Что говорят люди, кто Я такой?»[b]
14 Они ответили: «Некоторые говорят, что Ты Иоанн Креститель, другие—Илия, третьи же, что Ты—Иеремия или один из пророков».
15 Иисус спросил их: «А что вы говорите, кто Я Такой?»
16 Симон Пётр ответил: «Ты—Христос, Сын Бога Живого».
17 В ответ Иисус сказал ему: «Блажен ты, Симон, сын Ионы, потому что ты узнал это не от людей, а от Моего Небесного Отца. 18 Я говорю тебе также, что ты—Пётр[c], и на камне этом Я создам Церковь Мою, и силы смертные[d] не одолеют её. 19 Я дам тебе ключи от Царства Небесного. Когда ты будешь судить на земле, то это будет суд Божий. И когда пообещаешь прощение на земле, то это будет прощение Божье»[e].
20 И приказал Иисус Своим ученикам никому не говорить, что Он—Христос.
Иисус говорит о Своей смерти
(Мк. 8:31-9:1; Лк. 9:22-27)
21 С того времени Иисус стал говорить Своим ученикам, что Он должен пойти в Иерусалим и претерпеть многие страдания от рук старейшин, главных священников и законоучителей. Он также объяснил им, что должен быть убит, а на третий день после этого должен воскреснуть из мёртвых.
22 Пётр отвёл Его в сторону и стал Ему прекословить: «Господи, не дай Бог! Да не будет этого с Тобой!»
23 Тогда Иисус повернулся к Петру и сказал ему: «Уйди прочь, сатана![f] Ты препятствуешь Мне, так как думаешь не о Божьем, а о человеческом».
24 И сказал Иисус Своим ученикам: «Если кто хочет идти за Мной, то должен забыть о собственных желаниях, принять на себя крест страданий и следовать за Мной, 25 потому что тот, кто хочет сохранить свою жизнь, потеряет её, тот же, кто отдаст жизнь за Меня, сохранит её. 26 Потому что какой прок человеку, если, приобретя весь мир, он потеряет свою жизнь? Что может отдать человек, чтобы выкупить свою жизнь? 27 Сын Человеческий придёт во славе Отца Своего с Ангелами Своими. И тогда Он воздаст каждому по его делам. 28 Правду вам говорю, что некоторые из вас, кто сейчас здесь находится, ещё до смерти своей увидят Сына Человеческого, идущего, чтобы править в Царстве Своём!»

Matthew 16

The leaven of the Pharisees
16 The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tried to catch him out by asking him to show them a sign from heaven.
2 This was his reply to them: “When it’s evening you say, ‘Sky looks like wine, it’s going to be fine.’ 3 And in the morning you say, ‘Red in the sky, rain by and by.’ Well then: you know how to work out the look of the sky, so why can’t you work out the signs of the times? 4 The generation that wants a sign is wicked and corrupt! No sign will be given to it, except the sign of Jonah.”
With that, he left them and went away.
5 When the disciples crossed over the lake, they forgot to bring any bread. 6 “Watch out,” said Jesus to them, “and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
7 They discussed it with each other. “It’s because we didn’t bring any bread,” they said.
8 But Jesus knew what they were thinking. “You really are a little-faith lot!” he said. “Why are you discussing with each other that you haven’t got any bread? 9 Don’t you understand, even now? Don’t you remember the five loaves and the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you picked up afterwards? 10 Or the seven loaves and the four thousand, and how many baskets you picked up? 11 Why can’t you see that I wasn’t talking about bread? Watch out for the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”
12 Then they understood that he wasn’t telling them to beware of the leaven you get in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Peter’s declaration of Jesus’ messiahship
13 Jesus came to Caesarea Philippi. There he put this question to his disciples: “Who do people say that the son of man is?”
14 “John the Baptist,” they replied. “Others say Elijah. Others say Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”
15 “What about you?” he asked them. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered.
“You’re the Messiah,” he said. “You’re the son of the living God!”
17 “God’s blessing on you, Simon, son of John!” answered Jesus. “Flesh and blood didn’t reveal that to you; it was my father in heaven. 18 And I’ve got something to tell you, too: you are Peter, the rock, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell won’t overpower it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you tie up on earth will have been tied up in heaven, and whatever you untie on earth will have been untied in heaven.”
20 Then he sternly ordered the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
Jesus predicts his death
21 From then on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he would have to go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.
22 Peter took him and began to tell him off. “Certainly not, Master!” he said. “That’s never, ever going to happen to you!”
23 Jesus turned on Peter. “Get behind me, satan!” he said. “You’re trying to trip me up! You’re coming at this from a human point of view, not from God’s point of view!”
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone wants to come after me, they must give themselves up, and pick up their cross, and follow me. 25 Yes: if someone wants to save their life, they must lose it; and if anyone loses their life for my sake they will find it. 26 What use will it be, otherwise, if you win the whole world but forfeit your true life? What will you give to get your life back? 27 You see, the son of man is going to ‘come in the glory of his father with his angels,’ and then ‘he will reward everyone for the work they have done.’ 28 I’m telling you the truth: some of those standing here will not taste death until they see ‘the son of man coming in his kingdom.’ ”

Pharisees and Sadducees Test Jesus
16 (A)The (B)Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and putting Jesus to the test, they (C)asked Him to show them a [a]sign from heaven. 2 But He replied to them, “[b](D)When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ 3 And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ (E)You know how to discern the [c]appearance of the sky, but are you unable to discern the signs of the times? 4 (F)An evil and adulterous generation wants a [d]sign; and so a [e]sign will not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah.” And He left them and went away.
5 And the disciples came to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread. 6 And Jesus said to them, “Watch out and (G)beware of the [f]leaven of the (H)Pharisees and Sadducees.” 7 They began to discuss this among themselves, saying, “He said that because we did not bring any bread.” 8 But Jesus, aware of this, said, “(I)You men of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? 9 Do you not yet understand nor remember (J)the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you picked up? 10 Nor (K)the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets you picked up? 11 How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you about bread? But (L)beware of the [g]leaven of the (M)Pharisees and Sadducees.” 12 Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the [h]leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the (N)Pharisees and Sadducees.
Peter’s Confession of Christ
13 (O)Now when Jesus came into the region of (P)Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that (Q)the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say (R)John the Baptist; and others, [i](S)Elijah; and still others, [j]Jeremiah, or one of the other prophets.” 15 He *said to them, “But who do you yourselves say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are (T)the [k]Christ, (U)the Son of (V)the living God.” 17 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, (W)Simon [l]Barjona, because (X)flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are [m](Y)Peter, and upon this [n]rock I will build My church; and the gates of (Z)Hades will not overpower it. 19 I will give you (AA)the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and (AB)whatever you [o]bind on earth [p]shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you [q]loose on earth [r]shall have been loosed in heaven.” 20 (AC)Then He gave the disciples strict orders that they were to tell no one that He was (AD)the [s]Christ.
Jesus Foretells His Death
21 (AE)From that time [t]Jesus began to [u]point out to His disciples that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem and to (AF)suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised up on the third day. 22 And yet Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “[v]God forbid it, Lord! This shall never [w]happen to You!” 23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, (AG)Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on [x]God’s purposes, but men’s.”
Discipleship Is Costly
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, (AH)take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For (AI)whoever wants to save his [y]life will lose it; but whoever loses his [z]life for My sake will find it. 26 For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but [aa]forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the (AJ)Son of Man (AK)is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and (AL)will then repay every person according to his [ab]deeds.
28 “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the (AM)Son of Man (AN)coming in His kingdom.”
