11 На рассвете того дня
погибнет царь Израиля.
Любовь Бога к Израилю
– Когда Израиль был ребенком,
Я любил его,
и из Египта призвал Я сына Моего.
2 Но чем больше Я звал израильтян,
тем дальше они уходили от Меня[a].
Они приносили жертвы Баалам
и благовония идолам.
3 Это Я научил Ефрема ходить,
держа его за руки,
а он не осознавал,
что Я был и Тем, Кто исцелял его.
4 Я вел их узами любви
и человеческой доброты.
Я снял ярмо с их шеи
и склонился, чтобы накормить их.
5 Не вернутся ли они в Египет[b]
и не будет ли Ассирия править ими
из-за того, что они отказались покаяться?
6 Мечи засверкают в их городах,
разрушат затворы их ворот
и положат конец их планам.

и они последуют за Мной.
Когда Я зарычу,
Мои дети в трепете придут с запада.
11 Они вернутся из Египта
трепеща как птицы,
из Ассирии – как голуби.
Я поселю их в их жилищах, –
возвещает Господь.
Израиль похож на своего праотца
12 Ефрем окружил Меня ложью,
а дом Израилев обманом,
и Иуда сильно противится Богу,
и даже верному Святому[e].

2 Но чем больше Я взывал[a] к Израилю,
тем больше Израиль удалялся от Меня.
Израильтяне приносили жертвы лжебогам[b]
и сжигали благовонные курения идолам.
3 Но ведь это Я научил Ефрема ходить!
Я носил израильтян на руках и лечил их раны,
но они не ведают этого!
4 Я вёл их узами[c] любви и доброты;
Я был подобен человеку, который дал им свободу[d],
чтобы их накормить.
5 Израильтяне отказались вернуться к Богу,
так пусть же они идут в Египет!
Царь Ассирии станет их царём.
6 Меч падёт на их города и уничтожит их селения,
потому что злые планы вынашивали они.
7 Мой народ ждёт, что Я вернусь к нему.
Люди станут призывать Всевышнего,
но Бог не поможет им»[e].
Господь не уничтожит Израиль
8 «Ефрем, Я не хочу отказаться от тебя.
Израиль, Я желаю защитить тебя,
Я не хочу уничтожить тебя,
как Я уничтожил Адму и Цевоим[f].
Я изменил решение Своё,
потому что Моя любовь к тебе слишком сильна.
9 Я не поддамся гневу Своему
и не уничтожу вновь землю Ефрема.
Я—Бог, а не человек.
Я—Святой, и Я с тобой.
Я не проявлю гнева Своего!
10 Я, Господь, буду рычать как лев,
и дети Мои последуют за Мной.
Они придут с запада,
дрожа от страха.
11 Они придут из Египта,
трепеща как птицы.
Они придут из Ассирийской земли,
трепеща как голуби,
и Я вселю их в дома их,—
так сказал Господь.—
12 Ефрем окружил Меня лжебогами[g],
а народ Израиля восстал против Меня[h].
Но Иуда всё ещё верен Богу[i],
Иуда верен Святому[j] своему».

God’s Love for Israel
11 “When Israel was a child,(A) I loved(B) him,
and out of Egypt I called my son.(C)
2 But the more they were called,
the more they went away from me.[a](D)
They sacrificed to the Baals(E)
and they burned incense to images.(F)
3 It was I who taught Ephraim to walk,
taking them by the arms;(G)
but they did not realize
it was I who healed(H) them.
4 I led them with cords of human kindness,
with ties of love.(I)
To them I was like one who lifts
a little child to the cheek,
and I bent down to feed(J) them.(K)
5 “Will they not return to Egypt(L)
and will not Assyria(M) rule over them
because they refuse to repent?(N)
6 A sword(O) will flash in their cities;
it will devour(P) their false prophets
and put an end to their plans.
7 My people are determined to turn(Q) from me.(R)
Even though they call me God Most High,
I will by no means exalt them.
8 “How can I give you up,(S) Ephraim?(T)
How can I hand you over, Israel?
How can I treat you like Admah?
How can I make you like Zeboyim?(U)
My heart is changed within me;
all my compassion(V) is aroused.(W)
9 I will not carry out my fierce anger,(X)
nor will I devastate(Y) Ephraim again.
For I am God, and not a man(Z)—
the Holy One(AA) among you.
I will not come against their cities.
10 They will follow the Lord;
he will roar(AB) like a lion.(AC)
When he roars,
his children will come trembling(AD) from the west.(AE)
11 They will come from Egypt,
trembling like sparrows,
from Assyria,(AF) fluttering like doves.(AG)
I will settle them in their homes,”(AH)
declares the Lord.

2 As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.
3 I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.
4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.
5 He shall not return into the land of Egypt, and the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
6 And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels.
7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.
8 How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.
9 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.
10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.
11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the Lord.
12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

Devour his districts,
And consume them,
Because of their own counsels.
7 My people are bent on (H)backsliding from Me.

None at all exalt Him.
8 “How(I) can I give you up, Ephraim?
How can I hand you over, Israel?
How can I make you like (J)Admah?
How can I set you like Zeboiim?
My heart [i]churns within Me;
My sympathy is stirred.
9 I will not execute the fierceness of My anger;
I will not again destroy Ephraim.

The Holy One in your midst;

10 “They shall walk after the Lord.

When He roars,
Then His sons shall come trembling from the west;
11 They shall come trembling like a bird from Egypt,
(M)Like a dove from the land of Assyria.
(N)And I will let them dwell in their houses,”
Says the Lord.
God’s Charge Against Ephraim
12 “Ephraim has encircled Me with lies,
And the house of Israel with deceit;
But Judah still walks with God,
Even with the [k]Holy One who is faithful.
