Исус с Моисей и Илия
(Мк. 9:2-13; Лк. 9:28-36)
17 Шест дни по-късно Исус взе Петър, Яков и брат му Йоан и ги отведе на един висок хълм, където бяха съвсем сами. 2 Докато учениците го гледаха, Исус се промени. Лицето му засия като слънце, а дрехите му станаха ослепително бели. 3 Внезапно там се появиха Моисей и Илия и започнаха да разговарят с него. 4 Петър каза на Исус: „Господи, хубаво е, че сме тук. Ако искаш, ще вдигна три шатри — една за теб, една за Моисей и една за Илия.“
5 Докато Петър говореше, сияен облак се спусна над тях и от него се разнесе глас, който каза: „Това е моят възлюбен Син. Той е избраникът ми. Него слушайте!“
6 Като чуха това, учениците така се изплашиха, че паднаха по очи. 7 Но Исус се доближи до тях, докосна ги и им каза: „Станете! Не се страхувайте!“ 8 Те вдигнаха поглед и не видяха никого освен Исус.
9 Когато слизаха от хълма, Исус им нареди: „Не казвайте на никого за това, което видяхте, преди Човешкият Син да възкръсне от мъртвите.“
10 Учениците го попитаха: „Защо законоучителите казват, че първо трябва да дойде Илия?“[a]
11 Исус отговори: „Илия идва и той ще внесе отново ред във всичко. 12 Но казвам ви: Илия вече дойде, ала хората не го познаха и се отнесоха с него така, както им бе угодно. По същия начин ще накарат да страда и Човешкия Син.“
13 Тогава учениците разбраха, че Исус им говори за Йоан Кръстител.
Исус освобождава момче от зъл дух

14 Когато Исус и учениците му се върнаха при хората, към него се приближи един човек и падна на колене, 15 казвайки: „Господи, смили се над сина ми! Той има епилепсия и ужасно страда. Често пада в огъня или във водата. 16 Водих го при учениците ти, но те не можаха да го излекуват.“
17 Исус отвърна: „Поколение без никаква вяра и заблудено от правия път! Докога трябва да бъда с вас? Докога трябва да продължавам да ви търпя? Доведете момчето тук при мен!“ 18 Исус заповяда на демона да излезе и той напусна тялото на момчето. В същия миг то оздравя.
19 Когато Исус остана сам, учениците му се приближиха към него и го попитаха: „Защо не успяхме да прогоним демона от момчето?“
20 Исус отговори: „Защото вярата ви е малка! Истина ви казвам: ако имате вяра колкото едно синапено зрънце, можете да заповядате на тази планина: „Премести се оттук там!“ и тя ще се премести. И нищо няма да е невъзможно за вас.“ 21 [b]
Исус говори за своята смърт

22 По-късно учениците се събраха в Галилея и Исус им каза: „Човешкият Син ще бъде предаден на хора, 23 които ще го убият, но на третия ден той ще възкръсне.“ Учениците му много се наскърбиха.
Учението на Исус за плащането на данъци
24 Когато Исус и учениците му отидоха в Капернаум, към Петър се приближиха тези, които събираха данъка от две драхми[c] и попитаха: „Вашият учител не плаща ли двете драхми?“
25 „Плаща“ — отговори Петър и влезе в къщата. Още преди той да си отвори устата, Исус му каза: „Как мислиш, Симоне, от кого царете по света събират данъци и такси? От своите деца или от децата на другите хора?“
26 Петър отговори: „От децата на другите хора.“
Тогава Исус му каза: „Значи децата на царя не трябва да плащат данъци. 27 Но за да не разгневим тези бирници, иди на езерото, хвърли въдицата и отвори устата на първата риба, която уловиш. В нея ще намериш един статир. Вземи го и им го дай, за да платиш таксата за себе си и за мен.“

17 And after six days Jesus took Peter, and James, and John, his brother, and led them aside into an high hill,
2 and was transfigured into another likeness before them [and was transfigured, or turned into another likeness, before them]. And his face shone as the sun; and his clothes were made white as snow.
3 And lo! Moses and Elias appeared to them, and spake with him. [And lo! Moses and Elias appeared to them, speaking with him.]
4 And Peter answered, and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good us to be here. If thou wilt, make we here three tabernacles; to thee one, to Moses one, and one to Elias.
5 Yet while he spake, lo! a bright cloud overshadowed them; and lo! a voice out of the cloud, that said, This is my dear-worthy Son, in whom I have well pleased to me; hear ye him.
6 And the disciples heard, and felled down [fell down] on their faces, and dreaded greatly.
7 And Jesus came, and touched them, and said to them, Rise up, and do not ye dread.
8 And they lifted up their eyes, and saw no man, but Jesus alone.
9 And as they came down of the hill, Jesus commanded to them, and said, Say ye to no man the vision, till man's Son rise again from death.[a]
10 And his disciples asked him, and said, What then say the scribes, that it behooveth that Elias come first? [And his disciples asked him, saying, What therefore say scribes, that it behooveth Elias first come?]
11 [And] He answered, and said to them, [Forsooth] Elias shall come, and he shall restore all things.
12 And I say to you, that Elias is now come, and they knew him not, but they did in him whatever things they would; and so man's Son shall suffer of them.
13 Then the disciples understood, that he said to them of John the Baptist.
14 And when he came to the people [And when he came to the company], a man came to him, and felled [fell] down on his knees before him, and said [saying],
15 Lord, have mercy on my son; for he is lunatic, and suffereth evil, for oft times he falleth into the fire, and oft times into the water.
16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they might not heal him.
17 Jesus answered, and said, A! thou generation unbelieveful [unbelieveful, or out of the faith,] and wayward; how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? Bring ye him hither to me.
18 And Jesus blamed him, and the devil went out from him; and the child was healed from that hour.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privily, and said to him, Why might not we cast him out?
20 Jesus saith to them [Jesus said to them], For your unbelief. Truly I say to you, if ye have faith, as a corn of mustard seed, ye shall say to this hill, Pass thou hence [Pass thou from hence], and it shall pass; and nothing shall be impossible to you;
21 but this kind is not cast out, but by prayer and fasting.
22 And whiles they were abiding together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, Man's Son shall be betrayed into the hands of men;
23 and they shall slay him, and the third day he shall rise again to life [and the third day he shall rise again]. And they were full sorry.
24 And when they came to Capernaum, they that took tribute, came to Peter, and said to him, Your master payeth not tribute?
25 And he said, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus came before him, and said, Simon, what seemeth to thee? Kings of the earth, of whom take they tribute? of their sons, either of aliens?[b]
26 And he said, Of aliens. Jesus said to him, Then sons be free.
27 But that we offend them not, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take that fish that first cometh up; and, when his mouth is opened, thou shalt find a stater [a stater, that is, a certain of money]; take it, and give for thee and for me [thou taking it, give to them for me and for thee].

3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:
23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.
24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
