14 Врати се, Израеле, ГОСПОДУ, своме Богу,
јер си због свога греха посрнуо.
2 Понесите речи извињења са собом
и вратите се ГОСПОДУ.
Реците му: »Опрости све наше грехе
и с милошћу нас прими.
Тада ћемо те хвалити нашим уснама.
3 Асирија не може да нас спасе.
Нећемо да јашемо ратне коње.
Нећемо више да говоримо ‚наши богови‘
ономе што смо својим рукама направили,
јер код тебе сироче налази самилост.«
4 »Излечићу их од њиховог отпадништва.
Волећу их драговољно,
јер се мој гнев окренуо од њих.
5 Бићу Израелу као роса.
Као љиљан ће се расцветати,
пустити корење као кедар либански.
6 Његове младице ће расти.
Лепотом ће бити као маслина,
мирисом као кедар либански.
7 Вратиће се они
који су живели у његовој сенци.
Они ће бујати као жито
и цветати као лоза,
а његова слава биће као вино либанско.
8 »Ефреме, шта ја још имам с идолима?
Услишићу га и старати се о њему[a].
Ја сам као зелено дрво чемпреса –
од мене долази твоја плодност.«
9 Ко је мудар, схватиће ово,
ко је уман, признаће:
равни су Господњи путеви –
праведници иду по њима,
а бунтовници по њима посрћу.

- 14,8 Услишићу га и старати се о њему Хебрејски текст садржи игру речи. Хебрејска реч за »старати се« звучи као реч за Асирију, па ова реченица може да гласи и: »Услишићу га и бићу му Асирија«, чиме Бог хоће да каже да је он тај који штити Ефрема (Израел), а не нека страна земља.

Repentance to Bring Blessing
14 [a]Return,(A) Israel, to the Lord your God.
Your sins(B) have been your downfall!(C)
2 Take words with you
and return to the Lord.
Say to him:
“Forgive(D) all our sins
and receive us graciously,(E)
that we may offer the fruit of our lips.[b](F)
3 Assyria cannot save us;(G)
we will not mount warhorses.(H)
We will never again say ‘Our gods’(I)
to what our own hands have made,(J)
for in you the fatherless(K) find compassion.”
4 “I will heal(L) their waywardness(M)
and love them freely,(N)
for my anger has turned away(O) from them.
5 I will be like the dew(P) to Israel;
he will blossom like a lily.(Q)
Like a cedar of Lebanon(R)
he will send down his roots;(S)
6 his young shoots will grow.
His splendor will be like an olive tree,(T)
his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon.(U)
7 People will dwell again in his shade;(V)
they will flourish like the grain,
they will blossom(W) like the vine—
Israel’s fame will be like the wine(X) of Lebanon.(Y)
8 Ephraim, what more have I[c] to do with idols?(Z)
I will answer him and care for him.
I am like a flourishing juniper;(AA)
your fruitfulness comes from me.”

Israel Restored at Last
14 O Israel, (A)return to the Lord your God,
For you have stumbled because of your iniquity;
2 Take words with you,
And return to the Lord.
Say to Him,
“Take away all iniquity;
Receive us graciously,
For we will offer the (B)sacrifices[a] of our lips.
3 Assyria shall (C)not save us,
(D)We will not ride on horses,
Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, ‘You are our gods.’
(E)For in You the fatherless finds mercy.”
4 “I will heal their (F)backsliding,
I will (G)love them freely,
For My anger has turned away from him.
5 I will be like the (H)dew to Israel;
He shall [b]grow like the lily,
And [c]lengthen his roots like Lebanon.
6 His branches shall [d]spread;
(I)His beauty shall be like an olive tree,
And (J)his fragrance like Lebanon.
7 (K)Those who dwell under his shadow shall return;
They shall be revived like grain,
And [e]grow like a vine.
Their [f]scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon.
8 “Ephraim shall say, ‘What have I to do anymore with idols?’
I have heard and observed him.
I am like a green cypress tree;
(L)Your fruit is found in Me.”
9 Who is wise?
Let him understand these things.
Who is prudent?
Let him know them.
For (M)the ways of the Lord are right;
The righteous walk in them,
But transgressors stumble in them.
