39 У оно време је вавилонски цар Меродах-Валадан[a], син Валаданов, послао писма с даром за Језекију. Чуо је, наиме, да се овај разболео и да је оздравио. 2 Језекија им се обрадовао; показао им је сву своју ризницу, сребро и злато, зачине, мирисна уља, целу оружницу, и све што се нашло у његовим ризницама. Није било ничега у његовом двору и на целом његовом подручју што им Језекија није показао.
3 Тада је пророк Исаија дошао к цару Језекији и рекао му: „Шта су рекли ти људи? Одакле су ти дошли?“ Језекија одговори: „Из далеке земље, из Вавилона.“
4 „Шта су видели у твојој кући?“ – упита он. Језекија одговори: „Није било ничег у мојим ризницама што им нисам показао.“
5 Тада је Исаија рекао Језекији: „Почуј реч Господа над војскама: 6 ’Ево, долазе дани када ће све што је у твоме двору, и све што су твоји преци сабрали до овога дана, бити однесено у Вавилон; неће остати ништа – говори Господ. 7 А неки од твојих синова, који су ти се родили, биће одведени. Они ће бити евнуси на двору вавилонског цара.’“
8 Језекија одговори Исаији: „Добра је реч Господња што си је ти рекао.“ А мислио је: „Нека буде мир и спокојство током дана мојих.“

39 У то време Меродах-Баладан син Баладанов, цар Вавилона, посла Езекији писма и поклон, јер је чуо за Езекијину болест и излечење. 2 Езекија радосно прими гласнике и показа им све сребро, злато, зачине и мирисна уља у својим спремиштима, своју оружарницу и све што је било у његовим ризницама. Није било ничега у његовој палати или у целом његовом царству што им није показао.
3 Тада пророк Исаија оде цару Езекији и упита га: »Шта су рекли они људи? Одакле су?«
»Из далеке земље«, одговори Езекија. »Дошли су ми из Вавилона.«
4 Пророк упита: »Шта су видели у твојој палати?«
»Видели су све у мојој палати«, одговори Езекија. »Нема ничега у мојим ризницама што им нисам показао.«
5 Тада Исаија рече Езекији: »Чуј реч ГОСПОДА над војскама: 6 ‚Ево, долази време када ће све из твоје палате, и све што су твоји праоци накупили до данас, бити однето у Вавилон. Ништа неће остати,‘ каже ГОСПОД. 7 ‚Неки од твојих потомака, твоја рођена крв и месо, биће одведени и постати ушкопљеници у палати вавилонског цара.‘«
8 »Добра је реч ГОСПОДЊА коју си ми објавио«, одговори Езекија. Јер, мислио је: »Биће мира и сигурности за мог живота.«

39 At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.
2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
3 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.
4 Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord of hosts:
6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.
7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Envoys From Babylon(A)
39 At that time Marduk-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon(B) sent Hezekiah letters and a gift, because he had heard of his illness and recovery. 2 Hezekiah received the envoys(C) gladly and showed them what was in his storehouses—the silver, the gold,(D) the spices, the fine olive oil—his entire armory and everything found among his treasures.(E) There was nothing in his palace or in all his kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.
3 Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked, “What did those men say, and where did they come from?”
“From a distant land,(F)” Hezekiah replied. “They came to me from Babylon.”
4 The prophet asked, “What did they see in your palace?”
“They saw everything in my palace,” Hezekiah said. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
5 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word(G) of the Lord Almighty: 6 The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your predecessors have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon.(H) Nothing will be left, says the Lord. 7 And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood who will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.(I)”
8 “The word of the Lord you have spoken is good,(J)” Hezekiah replied. For he thought, “There will be peace and security in my lifetime.(K)”
