3 «Як розлучаться чоловік і жінка,
і жінка та від чоловіка йде,
і скоро собі іншого знаходить,
чи ж зможе вернутися до неї чоловік? Ні!
Якби що трапилось таке,
тоді б спаганена була оця земля?
Юдея, ти з багатьма коханцями[a] злягалась, немов повія та,
а тепер ідеш до Мене знов?»—Господь сказав.
2 «Ти погляд підведи на пагорби кремнисті,
і місце там знайди, де б не блудила ти.
Чекаючи на них, сидиш ти край дороги,
неначе кочівник-аравієць в пустелі.
Зганьбила землю ти розпустою й гріхом.
3 Тож припинилися дощі рясні
і вчасно весняні дощі не впали.
Розпусниця на вигляд ти,
і сорому в тобі немає.
4 Тепер чи звернешся ти знов до Мене:
„Ти Батько мій, Друг юних днів моїх?”
5 „Чи гніватися буде вічно Він?
Чи гнів Його продовжиться назавжди?”—
говориш ти, але грішиш завжди, де тільки можеш».
Погані сестри: Ізраїль та Юдея
6 І Господь сказав мені за часів царювання Йосії: «Чи бачив ти, що зробила підступна Ізраїль[b]? Сходила вона на кожне узвишшя, й під кожним деревом рясним чинила розпусту, поклоняючись нікчемним ідолам. 7 І Я сказав собі: „Накоївши такого, вона повернеться до Мене”. Але вона не повернулась, а її брехлива сестра Юдея бачила все це. 8 І як Я побачив усю цю розпусту, якою займалася підступна Ізраїль, Я відштовхнув її. Я розлучився з нею, та її підступна сестра Юдея не злякалася. Вона також погрузла в розпусті. 9 І вона не вбачала в тому чогось нечестивого, що зганьбила своєю розпустою всю Мою землю, і перелюб чинила з камінням і деревами[c]. 10 І навіть по всьому цьому[d] підступна сестра її Юдея не повернулася до Мене всім своїм серцем. Вона тільки прикидалася». Так каже Господь.
11 І Господь сказав мені: «Підступна Ізраїль більш праведна, ніж зрадлива Юдея, тому що щиро визнала свою вину». 12 Іди й проголоси слова ці на півночі. Скажи так:
«Повернися, підступна Ізраїль,
—каже Господь.—
Я більш на тебе не гніваюся,
бо справді милосердний Я.
Не гніватимусь Я на тебе повік.
13 Тільки визнай провину свою, визнай,
що грішила проти Господа Бога твого.
І що поклонялася багатьом богам чужим
під південним деревом розкішним,
і не слухалася ти Мене».
Так каже Господь.
14 «Поверніться, діти бунтівні,—каже Господь,—бо Я володар ваш. Я візьму вас по одному з міст та по двоє з родів і приведу вас до Сіону. 15 Я дам вам пастирів, що до душі Мені, вони дбатимуть про вас мудро і вправно. 16 Ви примножитеся й рясно заселите землю, як настануть ті дні, коли людям більше не треба буде говорити про ковчег Заповіту Господа. Вони не думатимуть про нього, не пам’ятатимуть, їм більше не потрібно буде дбати про нього, ані виготовляти його знову. 17 Тоді назвуть вони Єрусалим Престолом Господнім. Усі народи зберуться в Єрусалимі, щоб уславити ім’я Господа й вони не плекатимуть більше затятість своїх лихих сердець. 18 На ті часи дім Юди і Ізраїля прийдуть разом із землі північної до країни, яку віддав Я батькам вашим у спадок».
19 Господь сказав:
«Я хочу ставитися до вас,
як до дітей Своїх.
Я дам вам жадану землю у спадок,
що найвище цінується між народами».
Я казав: «Ти зватимеш мене „Мій батько”,
і більше не покинеш мене.
20 Ти підступна й невірна жінка,
що зрадила свого чоловіка.
Це правда, доме Ізраїля,
що зрадила ти Мене.
21 Голос чути по узвишшях кам’янистих,
плач і благання дітей Ізраїлю,
бо скривили вони шлях свій,
бо забули Господа Бога свого.
22 Поверніться, бунтівні сини,
і Я прощу відступництво ваше».
Тільки скажіть: «Ми прийдемо до Тебе,
бо Ти—Господь наш Бог.
23 Справді, узвишшя допомоги не дадуть,
що ми чуємо з гір, то пусте[e].
Справді, спасіння Ізраїлю—
в Господі нашому Бозі.
24 Той огидний бог Ваал, пожер все те,
що батьки наші тяжко напрацювали:
то були вівці їхні й отари їхні,
й дочки та сини їхні.
25 Лягаймо в ганьбі своїй,
і хай безчестя наше вкриє нас.
Бо грішили перед Господом нашим Богом і ми,
і батьки наші—з молодості й аж донині.
І не слухали ми голосу Господа Бога нашого».

3 І було мені слово Господнє, говорячи: Як відпустить хто жінку свою, й вона піде від нього, та стане за жінку для іншого чоловіка, чи вернеться ще він до неї? Чи ж не стане зовсім обезчещеною оця жінка? Ти ж перелюб чинила з коханцями багатьома, і тобі повертатись до Мене? говорить Господь.
2 Зведи свої очі на гори порожні й дивися, де перелюбу ти не чинила? Ти для них по дорогах сиділа, немов той араб на пустині, і збезчестився край твоїм блудом та лихом твоїм!
3 І дощі були стримувані, і не було дощу пізнього, проте мала ти чоло блудниці, і стратила сором...
4 Чи ж кликати віднині не будеш до Мене: Отче мій, Ти юнацтва мого Провідник!
5 Чи Він пам'ятатиме вічно про гнів, чи назавжди його стерегтиме? Таке ти говориш, і безмежно зло чиниш...
6 І сказав до мене Господь за днів царя Йосії: Чи ти бачив, що зробила невірна дочка Ізраїлева? Вона ходила на кожну високу гору, і під кожне зелене дерево, і блудодіяла там...
7 Я думав: Як зробить вона все оце, то до Мене повернеться; та вона не вернулась, і бачила це сестра її зрадниця, Юдея.
8 І побачила Юдея, що за все те, що перелюб чинила невірна дочка Ізраїлева, відпустив Я її, і дав їй листа розводового. Та зрадлива сестра її, дочка Юдина, не побоялася й пішла, і блудливою стала й вона...
9 І сталось від розголосу про перелюб її, збезчестила вона землю, і перелюб чинила з камінням та з деревом.
10 І також при всьому цьому не вернулась до Мене зрадлива сестра її, дочка Юди, усім своїм серцем, а тільки вдавала, говорить Господь...
11 І промовив до мене Господь: Невірна дочка Ізраїлева всправедливила душу свою більш від зрадливої дочки Юди.
12 Піди, і проголосиш слова ці на північ та й скажеш: Вернися, відступна дочко Ізраїлева! говорить Господь. Не зверну Я Свого обличчя у гніві на вас, бо Я милостивий, говорить Господь, і не буду повік стерегти Свого гніву.
13 Тільки пізнай же провину свою, бо ти проти Господа, Бога свого повстала, і грішила з чужими під деревом кожним зеленим, і Мого голосу ви не почули, говорить Господь.
14 Верніться, діти невірні, говорить Господь, бо Я вам Господар, та візьму вас по одному з міста, а з роду по два, і вас поведу до Сіону!
15 І дам пастирів вам згідно з серцем Своїм, і вони будуть пасти вас умінням та розумом.
16 І буде, коли ви розмножитеся та розплодитеся на землі за цих днів, говорить Господь, не скажуть уже: ковчег заповіту Господнього, і він вже не прийде на серце, і його пам'ятати не будуть, і більше не буде він зроблений...
17 Того часу назвуть Єрусалима: Господній престол, і до нього, до Єрусалиму згромаджені будуть народи усі ради Ймення Господнього, і більше не підуть вони за впертістю серця лихого свого...
18 Тими днями дім Юдин із домом Ізраїля підуть і разом прибудуть з північного краю до краю, що вашим батькам на спадок Я дав.
19 І Я був подумав: як поставлю тебе Я посеред синів і дам тобі край пожаданий, найкращу спадщину народів? І Я думав: ви будете звати Мене: Мій Отче, і не відвернетеся ви від Мене.
20 Справді, як зраджує жінка свого чоловіка, так ви Мене зрадили, доме Ізраїлів! каже Господь.
21 Чути голос на лисих горах, плач благальний синів Ізраїлевих, вони бо скривили дорогу свою, забули про Господа, Бога свого:
22 Верніться, невірні сини, усі ваші відступства Я вилікую! Ось прийшли ми до Тебе, бо Ти Господь, Бог наш!
23 Справді, неправда ті пагірки, той гомін на горах, справді, в Господі, Богові нашім, спасіння Ізраїлеве!
24 А той сором пожер працю наших батьків від нашої молодости, їхню худобу дрібну й їхню худобу велику, синів їхніх та їхніх дочок.

3 “有话说，人若休妻，妻离他而去，做了别人的妻，前夫岂能再收回她来？若收回她来，那地岂不是大大玷污了吗？但你和许多亲爱的行邪淫，还可以归向我。”这是耶和华说的。 2 “你向净光的高处举目观看，你在何处没有淫行呢？你坐在道旁等候，好像阿拉伯人在旷野埋伏一样，并且你的淫行、邪恶玷污了全地。 3 因此甘霖停止，春[a]雨不降，你还是有娼妓之脸，不顾羞耻。 4 从今以后，你岂不向我呼叫说：‘我父啊，你是我幼年的恩主！ 5 耶和华岂永远怀怒，存留到底吗？’看哪，你又发恶言又行坏事，随自己的私意而行[b]。”

6 约西亚王在位的时候，耶和华又对我说：“背道的以色列所行的，你看见没有？她上各高山，在各青翠树下行淫。 7 她行这些事以后，我说她必归向我，她却不归向我。她奸诈的妹妹犹大也看见了。 8 背道的以色列行淫，我为这缘故给她休书休她。我看见她奸诈的妹妹犹大还不惧怕，也去行淫。 9 因以色列轻忽了她的淫乱，和石头木头行淫，地就被玷污了。 10 虽有这一切的事，她奸诈的妹妹犹大还不一心归向我，不过是假意归我。”这是耶和华说的。

11 耶和华对我说：“背道的以色列比奸诈的犹大还显为义。 12 你去向北方宣告说：‘耶和华说：背道的以色列啊，回来吧！我必不怒目看你们，因为我是慈爱的，我必不永远存怒。这是耶和华说的。 13 只要承认你的罪孽，就是你违背耶和华你的神，在各青翠树下向别神东奔西跑，没有听从我的话。这是耶和华说的。 14 耶和华说：背道的儿女啊，回来吧！因为我做你们的丈夫，并且我必将你们从一城取一人，从一族取两人，带到锡安。 15 我也必将合我心的牧者赐给你们，他们必以知识和智慧牧养你们。 16 耶和华说：你们在国中生养众多，当那些日子，人必不再提说耶和华的约柜，不追想，不记念，不觉缺少，也不再制造。 17 那时，人必称耶路撒冷为耶和华的宝座，万国必到耶路撒冷，在耶和华立名的地方聚集。他们必不再随从自己顽梗的恶心行事。 18 当那些日子，犹大家要和以色列家同行，从北方之地一同来到我赐给你们列祖为业之地。

3 They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the Lord.
2 Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
3 Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.
4 Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?
5 Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.
6 The Lord said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.
7 And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
9 And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.
10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the Lord.
11 And the Lord said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.
12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever.
13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the Lord.
14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the Lord, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the Lord: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.
17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.
18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.
19 But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.
20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the Lord.
21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the Lord their God.
22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God.
23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.
24 For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
25 We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.

3 “If a man divorces(A) his wife
and she leaves him and marries another man,
should he return to her again?
Would not the land be completely defiled?(B)
But you have lived as a prostitute with many lovers(C)—
would you now return to me?”(D)
declares the Lord.
2 “Look up to the barren heights(E) and see.
Is there any place where you have not been ravished?
By the roadside(F) you sat waiting for lovers,
sat like a nomad in the desert.
You have defiled the land(G)
with your prostitution(H) and wickedness.
3 Therefore the showers have been withheld,(I)
and no spring rains(J) have fallen.
Yet you have the brazen(K) look of a prostitute;
you refuse to blush with shame.(L)
4 Have you not just called to me:
‘My Father,(M) my friend from my youth,(N)
5 will you always be angry?(O)
Will your wrath continue forever?’
This is how you talk,
but you do all the evil you can.”
Unfaithful Israel
6 During the reign of King Josiah,(P) the Lord said to me, “Have you seen what faithless(Q) Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading tree(R) and has committed adultery(S) there. 7 I thought that after she had done all this she would return to me but she did not, and her unfaithful sister(T) Judah saw it.(U) 8 I gave faithless Israel(V) her certificate of divorce(W) and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear;(X) she also went out and committed adultery. 9 Because Israel’s immorality mattered so little to her, she defiled the land(Y) and committed adultery(Z) with stone(AA) and wood.(AB) 10 In spite of all this, her unfaithful sister Judah did not return(AC) to me with all her heart, but only in pretense,(AD)” declares the Lord.(AE)
11 The Lord said to me, “Faithless Israel is more righteous(AF) than unfaithful(AG) Judah.(AH) 12 Go, proclaim this message toward the north:(AI)
“‘Return,(AJ) faithless(AK) Israel,’ declares the Lord,
‘I will frown on you no longer,
for I am faithful,’(AL) declares the Lord,
‘I will not be angry(AM) forever.
13 Only acknowledge(AN) your guilt—
you have rebelled against the Lord your God,
you have scattered your favors to foreign gods(AO)
under every spreading tree,(AP)
and have not obeyed(AQ) me,’”
declares the Lord.
14 “Return,(AR) faithless people,” declares the Lord, “for I am your husband.(AS) I will choose you—one from a town and two from a clan—and bring you to Zion. 15 Then I will give you shepherds(AT) after my own heart,(AU) who will lead you with knowledge and understanding. 16 In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land,” declares the Lord, “people will no longer say, ‘The ark(AV) of the covenant of the Lord.’ It will never enter their minds or be remembered;(AW) it will not be missed, nor will another one be made. 17 At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne(AX) of the Lord, and all nations(AY) will gather in Jerusalem to honor(AZ) the name of the Lord. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts.(BA) 18 In those days the people of Judah will join the people of Israel,(BB) and together(BC) they will come from a northern(BD) land to the land(BE) I gave your ancestors as an inheritance.
19 “I myself said,
“‘How gladly would I treat you like my children
and give you a pleasant land,(BF)
the most beautiful inheritance(BG) of any nation.’
I thought you would call me ‘Father’(BH)
and not turn away from following me.
20 But like a woman unfaithful to her husband,
so you, Israel, have been unfaithful(BI) to me,”
declares the Lord.
21 A cry is heard on the barren heights,(BJ)
the weeping(BK) and pleading of the people of Israel,
because they have perverted their ways
and have forgotten(BL) the Lord their God.
“Yes, we will come to you,
for you are the Lord our God.
23 Surely the idolatrous commotion on the hills(BP)
and mountains is a deception;
surely in the Lord our God
is the salvation(BQ) of Israel.
24 From our youth shameful(BR) gods have consumed
the fruits of our ancestors’ labor—
their flocks and herds,
their sons and daughters.
25 Let us lie down in our shame,(BS)
and let our disgrace cover us.
We have sinned(BT) against the Lord our God,
both we and our ancestors;(BU)
from our youth(BV) till this day
we have not obeyed(BW) the Lord our God.”
