1 Це слова Єремії, сина Гилкії, одного з священиків, що мешкали в Анатоті, в землі Веніаминовій[a]. 2 Слова ці були йому від Господа за часів правління Йосії, сина Амона, царя юдейського, тринадцятого року[b] його царювання. 3 Також ці слова було відкрито йому за царювання Єгоякима, сина Йосії, царя юдейського, аж до одинадцятого року Седекії, сина Йосії, царя юдейського, й до вигнання з Єрусалима в п’ятому місяці.
Покликання Єремії
4 Дійшло до мене слово Господа:
5 «Перш, ніж Я утворив тебе в утробі,
Я вже знав тебе.
Перш, ніж вийшов ти з черева матері своєї,
Я обрав тебе,
призначивши тебе пророком для народів».
6 Я відповів: «Але ж, Господи, Боже мій, не вмію я говорити як пророк, бо я молодий». 7 Господь сказав мені:
«Не кажи, що ти лише юнак,
бо підеш ти до всіх, до кого Я пошлю тебе,
і говоритимеш усе, що накажу тобі.
8 Людей не бійся,
бо Я з тобою буду, щоб захистити тебе».
Це—слово Господа.
9 Тоді Господь простягнув руку й торкнувся уст моїх, сказавши:
«Я вклав Мої слова до уст твоїх.
10 Сьогодні Я призначаю тебе
стати над народами й царствами.
Ти будеш викорінювати,
губити, руйнувати і валити,
будувати і насаджувати знов».
Дві з’яви
11 Слово Господа було до мене: «Що бачиш ти, Єреміє?» Я відповів: «Я бачу гілку мигдалю». 12 І сказав мені Господь: «Ти добре бачиш, бо Я пильную[c] за Своїми словами, аби впевнитись, що вони здійсняться».
13 І вдруге було слово Господа до мене: «Що ти бачиш?» Я відповів: «Я бачу, як кипить вода в казані, який повернутий від півночі».
14 І Господь сказав мені:
«Із півночі біда прийде на всіх людей землі цієї.
15 Бо Я прикличу всі племена царств півночі.
Прийдуть вони, і кожен з них поставить престол свій
при відчинених брамах Єрусалима».
Так сказав Господь:
«Війною пройдуть довкола нього
і по усіх містах юдейських.
16 Я винесу дітям Ізраїлю вирок за злочини,
через які вони від Мене відвернулись.
Вони приносили пожертви іншим богам
і низько поклонялись бовванам тим,
що виробили власними руками.
17 Ти ж, Єреміє, буть напоготові,
ти мусиш встати і сказати все,
що Я звелю тобі наказати народові своєму.
Тобі боятися людей не слід,
інакше Я тебе злякаю ними.
18 Сьогодні Я зроблю тебе неприступним містом,
немовби стовп залізний, бронзову стіну,
що всій землі протистояти може:
царям Юдеї і її князям,
священикам і людям цього краю.
19 Вони боротимуться проти тебе,
але не вдасться їм тебе здолати.
Кажу це Я,
бо Я з тобою буду, і захищу тебе».
Так наказав Господь.

1 Слова Єремії, сина Хілкійїного, з священиків, що в Анатоті, у Веніяминовому краї,
2 що було до нього Господнє слово за днів Йосії, Амонового сина, Юдиного царя, тринадцятого року його царювання.
3 І було воно й за днів Єгоякима, сина Йосіїного, Юдиного царя, аж до кінця одинадцятого року Седекії, сина Йосіїного, Юдиного царя, аж до виходу Єрусалиму на вигнання в п'ятому місяці.
4 І прийшло мені слово Господнє, говорячи:
5 Ще поки тебе вформував в утробі матерній, Я пізнав був тебе, і ще поки ти вийшов із нутра, тебе посвятив, дав тебе за пророка народам!
6 А я відповів: О, Господи, Боже, таж я промовляти не вмію, бо я ще юнак!...
7 Господь же мені відказав: Не кажи: Я юнак, бо ти підеш до всіх, куди тільки пошлю Я тебе, і скажеш усе, що тобі накажу.
8 Не лякайсь перед ними, бо Я буду з тобою, щоб тебе рятувати, говорить Господь!
9 І простяг Господь руку Свою, і доторкнувсь моїх уст та й до мене сказав: Ось Я дав в твої уста слова Мої!
10 Дивись, Я сьогодні призначив тебе над народами й царствами, щоб виривати та бурити, і щоб губити та руйнувати, щоб будувати й насаджувати!
11 І було мені слово Господнє, говорячи: Що ти бачиш, Єреміє? А я відказав: Я бачу мигдалеву галузку.
12 І сказав мені Господь: Ти добре бачиш, бо Я пильную Свого слова, щоб справдилось воно.
13 І було мені слово Господнє подруге таке: Що ти бачиш? А я відказав: Я бачу кипляче горня, а перед його звернений з півночі на південь.
14 І сказав мені Господь: З півночі відкриється зло на всіх мешканців землі.
15 Бо ось Я покличу всі родини царств на півночі, говорить Господь, і вони поприходять, і поставлять кожен свого трона при вході до єрусалимських брам, і навколо при всіх мурах його та при всіх юдиних містах.
16 І буду судитися з ними за всю їхню безбожність, що вони покинули Мене, і кадили іншим богам, і вклонялись чинам своїх рук.
17 А ти підпережеш стегна свої та й устанеш, і будеш говорити їм усе, що Я накажу тобі; не бійся перед ними, щоб Я не злякав тебе перед ними!
18 Бо Я ось сьогодні поставив тебе містом твердинним, і залізним стовпом, і мідяними мурами проти всієї цієї землі, проти царів Юди, проти його князів, проти його священиків та проти народу цієї землі.
19 І будуть вони воювати з тобою, та не переможуть тебе, бо Я із тобою, говорить Господь, щоб тебе рятувати!

1 便雅悯地亚拿突城的祭司中，希勒家的儿子耶利米的话记在下面。 2 犹大王亚们的儿子约西亚在位十三年，耶和华的话临到耶利米。 3 从犹大王约西亚的儿子约雅敬在位的时候，直到犹大王约西亚的儿子西底家在位的末年，就是十一年五月间耶路撒冷人被掳的时候，耶和华的话也常临到耶利米。
4 耶利米说：耶和华的话临到我说： 5 “我未将你造在腹中，我已晓得你；你未出母胎，我已分别你为圣。我已派你做列国的先知。” 6 我就说：“主耶和华啊！我不知怎样说，因为我是年幼的。” 7 耶和华对我说：“你不要说‘我是年幼的’，因为我差遣你到谁那里去，你都要去，我吩咐你说什么话，你都要说。 8 你不要惧怕他们，因为我与你同在，要拯救你。”这是耶和华说的。 9 于是耶和华伸手按我的口，对我说：“我已将当说的话传给你。 10 看哪，我今日立你在列邦列国之上，为要施行拔出、拆毁、毁坏、倾覆，又要建立、栽植。”

11 耶和华的话又临到我说：“耶利米，你看见什么？”我说：“我看见一根杏树枝。” 12 耶和华对我说：“你看得不错，因为我留意保守我的话，使得成就。”
预言犹大遭灾
13 耶和华的话第二次临到我说：“你看见什么？”我说：“我看见一个烧开的锅，从北而倾。” 14 耶和华对我说：“必有灾祸从北方发出，临到这地的一切居民。” 15 耶和华说：“看哪，我要召北方列国的众族。他们要来，各安座位在耶路撒冷的城门口，周围攻击城墙，又要攻击犹大的一切城邑。 16 至于这民的一切恶，就是离弃我，向别神烧香，跪拜自己手所造的，我要发出我的判语，攻击他们。
耶和华慰勉耶利米
17 “所以你当束腰，起来将我所吩咐你的一切话告诉他们。不要因他们惊惶，免得我使你在他们面前惊惶。 18 看哪，我今日使你成为坚城、铁柱、铜墙，与全地，和犹大的君王、首领、祭司，并地上的众民反对。 19 他们要攻击你，却不能胜你，因为我与你同在，要拯救你。”这是耶和华说的。

1 The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
2 To whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
3 It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
4 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
6 Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7 But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.
9 Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
11 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
12 Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
13 And the word of the Lord came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.
14 Then the Lord said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
15 For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the Lord; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.
16 And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
17 Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.
18 For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
19 And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee.

1 The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests at Anathoth(A) in the territory of Benjamin. 2 The word of the Lord came(B) to him in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah(C) son of Amon king of Judah, 3 and through the reign of Jehoiakim(D) son of Josiah king of Judah, down to the fifth month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah(E) son of Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile.(F)
The Call of Jeremiah
4 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb(G) I knew[a](H) you,
before you were born(I) I set you apart;(J)
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.(K)”
6 “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak;(L) I am too young.”(M)
7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid(N) of them, for I am with you(O) and will rescue(P) you,” declares the Lord.(Q)
9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched(R) my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth.(S) 10 See, today I appoint you over nations(T) and kingdoms to uproot(U) and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”(V)
11 The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?”(W)
“I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied.
12 The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching[b](X) to see that my word is fulfilled.”
13 The word of the Lord came to me again: “What do you see?”(Y)
“I see a pot that is boiling,” I answered. “It is tilting toward us from the north.”
14 The Lord said to me, “From the north(Z) disaster will be poured out on all who live in the land. 15 I am about to summon all the peoples of the northern kingdoms,” declares the Lord.
“Their kings will come and set up their thrones
in the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem;
they will come against all her surrounding walls
and against all the towns of Judah.(AA)
16 I will pronounce my judgments(AB) on my people
because of their wickedness(AC) in forsaking me,(AD)
in burning incense to other gods(AE)
and in worshiping(AF) what their hands have made.(AG)
17 “Get yourself ready! Stand up and say(AH) to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified(AI) by them, or I will terrify you before them. 18 Today I have made you(AJ) a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land. 19 They will fight against you but will not overcome(AK) you, for I am with you(AL) and will rescue(AM) you,” declares the Lord.
