12 Тогава Иов в отговор рече: -
2 Наистина само вие сте люде, И с вас ще умре мъдростта!
3 Но и аз имам разум както и вие; Не съм по-долен от вас; И такива работи, кой ги не знае?
4 Станах за поругание на ближния си, Човек, който призовавах Бога, и Той му отговаряше, - Праведният, непорочният човек стана за поругание!
5 Тоя, чиито нозе са близо до подхлъзване, Е като презрян светилник в мисълта на благополучния.
6 Шатрите на разбойниците са в благоденствие, И тия, които разгневяват Бога, са в безопасност; Бог докарва изобилие в ръцете им.
7 Но попитай сега животните, и те ще те научат, И въздушните птици, и те ще ти кажат;
8 Или говори на земята, и тя ще те научи, И морските риби ще ти изявят.
9 От всички тия кой не разбира, Че ръката на Господа е сторила това? -
10 В Чиято ръка е душата на всичко живо, И дишането на цялото човечество.
11 Ухото не изпитва ли думите Както небцето вкусва ястието си?
12 Мъдростта е у белокосите, казвате вие, И разумът в дългия живот.
13 А у Бога е мъдростта и силата; Той има разсъждение и разум.
14 Ето, Той събаря, и не съгражда вече; Затваря човека, и не му се отваря.
15 Ето, задържа водите, и пресъхват; Пуща ги пак, и изравят земята.
16 У Него е силата и мъдростта; Негов е измаменият и измамникът.
17 Закарва съветниците ограбени, И прави съдиите глупави.
18 Разпасва пояса на царете, И опасва кръста им с въже.
19 Закарва първенците ограбени, И поваля силните.
20 Отнема думата от ползуващите се с доверие, И взема ума на старейшините.
21 Излива презрение върху князете, И ослабва силата* на яките.
22 Открива дълбоки работи из тъмнината, И изважда на видело мрачната сянка.
23 Умножава народите, и погубва ги, Разширява народите, и стеснява ги.
24 Отнема бодростта на началниците на земните жители, И прави ги да се скитат по непроходна пустиня;
25 Пипат в тъмнината без виделина, И прави ги да залитат като пиян.

English Standard Version
Job Replies: The Lord Has Done This
12 Then Job answered and said:
2 “No doubt you are the people,
and wisdom will die with you.
3 But I have (A)understanding as well as you;
I am not inferior to you.
Who does not know (B)such things as these?
4 I am (C)a laughingstock to my friends;
I, who (D)called to God and he answered me,
a just and blameless man, am a laughingstock.
5 In the thought of one who is (E)at ease there is contempt for misfortune;
it is ready for those whose feet slip.
6 (F)The tents of robbers are at peace,
and those who provoke God are secure,
who bring their god in their hand.[a]
7 “But ask the beasts, and they will teach you;
the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you;
8 or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you;[b]
and the fish of the sea will declare to you.
9 Who among all these does not know
that (G)the hand of the Lord has done this?
10 In (H)his hand is the life of every living thing
and the breath of all mankind.
11 Does not (I)the ear test words
as the palate tastes food?
12 Wisdom is with (J)the aged,
and understanding in length of days.
13 (K)“With God[c] are wisdom and might;
he has counsel and understanding.
14 If he tears down, none can rebuild;
if he (L)shuts a man in, none can open.
15 If he (M)withholds the waters, they dry up;
if he (N)sends them out, they overwhelm the land.
16 With him are strength and (O)sound wisdom;
the deceived and the deceiver are his.
17 He leads (P)counselors away stripped,
and (Q)judges he makes fools.
18 He (R)looses the bonds of kings
and binds a waistcloth on their hips.
19 He leads priests away stripped
and overthrows the mighty.
20 He deprives of speech those who are trusted
(S)and takes away the discernment of the elders.
21 He (T)pours contempt on princes
and loosens the belt of the strong.
22 He (U)uncovers the deeps out of darkness
and brings (V)deep darkness to light.
23 He (W)makes nations great, and he destroys them;
he enlarges nations, and (X)leads them away.
24 He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth
and (Y)makes them wander in a trackless waste.
25 They (Z)grope in the dark without light,
and he makes them (AA)stagger like a drunken man.

12 Därefter tog Job till orda och sade:
2 Ja, visst ären I det rätta folket, och med eder kommer visheten att dö ut!
3 Dock, jämväl jag har förstånd så gott som I, icke står jag tillbaka för eder; ty vem är den som ej begriper slikt?
4 Så måste jag då vara ett åtlöje för min vän, jag som fick svar, så snart jag ropade till Gud; man ler åt en som är rättfärdig och ostrafflig!
5 Ja, med förakt ses olyckan av den som står säker; förakt väntar dem vilkas fötter vackla.
6 Men förhärjares hyddor åtnjuta frid, och trygghet få sådana som trotsa Gud, de som hava sin gud i sin hand.
7 Men fråga du boskapen, den må undervisa dig, och fåglarna under himmelen, de må upplysa dig;
8 eller tala till jorden, hon må undervisa dig, fiskarna i havet må giva dig besked.
9 Vem kan icke lära genom allt detta att det är HERRENS hand som har gjort det?
10 I hans han är ju allt levandes själ och alla mänskliga varelsers anda.
11 Skall icke öra pröva orden, likasom munnen prövar matens smak?
12 Vishet tillkommer ju de gamle och förstånd dem som länge hava levat.
13 Hos Honom finnes vishet och makt, hos honom råd och förstånd.
14 Se, vad han river ned, det bygges ej upp; för den han spärrar inne kan ingen upplåta.
15 Han håller vattnen tillbaka -- se, se då bliver där torrt, han släpper dem lösa, då fördärva de landet.
16 Hos honom är kraft och klokhet, den förvillade och förvillaren äro båda i hans hand.
17 Rådsherrar utblottar han, han för dem i landsflykt, och domare gör han till dårar.
18 Han upplöser konungars välde och sätter fångbälte om deras höfter.
