40 Утешавайте, утешавайте людете Ми, Казва вашият Бог.
2 Говорете по сърцето на Ерусалим, и изказвайте към него, Че времето на воюването му се изпълни, Че беззаконието му се прости; Защото взе от ръката Господна Двойно наказание за всичките си грехове.
3 Глас на един който вика: Пригответе в пустинята пътя за Господа, Направете в безводното място прав друм за нашия Бог.
4 Всяка долина ще се издигне, И всяка планина и хълм ще се сниши; Кривите места ще станат прави, И неравните места поле;
5 И славата Господна ще се яви, И всяка твар купно ще я види; Защото устата Господни изговориха това.
6 Глас на един, който казва: Провъзгласи! И отговори се+: Що да провъзглася? - Всяка твар е трева, И всичката й слава като полския цвят;
7 Тревата съхне, цветът вехне; Защото дишането Господно духа върху него; Наистина людете са трева!
8 Тревата съхне, цветът вехне, Но словото на нашия Бог ще остане до века.
9 Ти, който носиш благи вести на Сион, Изкачи се на високата планина; Ти, който носиш благи вести на Ерусалим, Издигни силно гласа си; Издигни го, не бой се, Кажи на Юдовите градове: Ето вашият Бог!
10 Ето, Господ Иеова ще дойде със сила, И мишцата Му ще владее за него; Ето, наградата Му е с него, И въздаянието Му пред него.
11 Той ще пасе стадото Си като овчар,, Ще събере агнетата с мишцата Си, Ще го носи в пазухата Си, И ще води полека доещите.
12 Кой е премерил водите с шепата си, Измерил небето с педя, Побрал в мярка пръстта на земята, И претеглил планините с теглилка, и хълмовете с везни?
13 Кой е упътил Духа Господен, Или като съветник Негов Го е научил?
14 С кого се е съветвал Той, И кой Го е вразумил и Го е научил пътя на правосъдието, И Му е предал знание, и Му е показал пътя на разума?
15 Ето, народите са като капка от ведро, И се считат като ситен прашец на везните; Ето, островите са като ситен прах що се дига.
16 Ливан не е достатъчен за гориво Нито стигат животните му за всеизгаряне.
17 Всичките народи са като нищо пред Него, Считат се пред Него за по-малко от нищо, да! за празнота.
18 И тъй, на кого ще уподобите Бога? Или какво подобие ще сравните с Него?
19 Кумирът ли? - Художникът го е излял , И Златарят го обковава със злато И лее за него сребърни верижки;
20 Който е твърде сиромах та да принесе принос Избира негниещо дърво, И търси за него изкусен художник, За да го направи непоклатим кумир!
21 Не знаете ли? не сте ли чули? Не ли ви се е известило отначало? От основаването на земята не сте ли разбрали
22 Онзи, Който седи над кръга на земята. Пред Когото жителите й са като скакалци, Който простира небето като завеса, И го разпъва като шатър за живеене,
23 Който докарва първенците до нищо, И прави като суета земните съдии?
24 Те едва са били посадени, едва са били посяти, Едва ли се е закоренил в земята стволът им, И Той подуха върху тях, и те изсъхват, И вихрушката ги помита като плява,
25 И тъй, на кого ще Ме уподобите Та да му бъда равен? казва Светият.
26 Дигнете очите си нагоре Та вижте: Кой е създал тия светила , И извежда множеството им с брой? Той ги вика всичките по име; Чрез величието на силата Му, И понеже е мощен във власт, Ни едно от тях не липсва.
27 Защо говориш, Якове, и казваш, Израилю; Пътят ми е скрит от Господа, И правото ми се пренебрегва от моя Бог?
28 Не знаеш ли? не си ли чувл, Че вечният Бог Иеова, Създателят на земните краища, Не ослабва и не се уморява? Неговият разум е неизследим.
29 Той дава сила на ослабналите, И умножава мощта на немощните.
30 Даже младите ще ослабнат и ще се уморят. И отбраните момци съвсем ще паднат;
31 Но ония, които чакат Господа, ще подновят силата си, Ще се издигат с крила като орли. Ще тичат и няма да се уморят, Ще ходят и няма да ослабнат.

God’s People Are Comforted
40 Comfort, O comfort my people,
says your God.
2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and cry to her
that she has served her term,
that her penalty is paid,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
double for all her sins.
3 A voice cries out:
“In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be lifted up,
and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,
and the rough places a plain.
5 Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all people shall see it together,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
6 A voice says, “Cry out!”
And I said, “What shall I cry?”
All people are grass,
their constancy is like the flower of the field.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades,
when the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades;
but the word of our God will stand forever.
9 Get you up to a high mountain,
O Zion, herald of good tidings;[a]
lift up your voice with strength,
O Jerusalem, herald of good tidings,[b]
lift it up, do not fear;
say to the cities of Judah,
“Here is your God!”
10 See, the Lord God comes with might,
and his arm rules for him;
his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.
11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd;
he will gather the lambs in his arms,
and carry them in his bosom,
and gently lead the mother sheep.
12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand
and marked off the heavens with a span,
enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure,
and weighed the mountains in scales
and the hills in a balance?
13 Who has directed the spirit of the Lord,
or as his counselor has instructed him?
14 Whom did he consult for his enlightenment,
and who taught him the path of justice?
Who taught him knowledge,
and showed him the way of understanding?
15 Even the nations are like a drop from a bucket,
and are accounted as dust on the scales;
see, he takes up the isles like fine dust.
16 Lebanon would not provide fuel enough,
nor are its animals enough for a burnt offering.
17 All the nations are as nothing before him;
they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.
18 To whom then will you liken God,
or what likeness compare with him?
19 An idol? —A workman casts it,
and a goldsmith overlays it with gold,
and casts for it silver chains.
20 As a gift one chooses mulberry wood[c]
—wood that will not rot—
then seeks out a skilled artisan
to set up an image that will not topple.
21 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 It is he who sits above the circle of the earth,
and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers;
who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
and spreads them like a tent to live in;
23 who brings princes to naught,
and makes the rulers of the earth as nothing.
24 Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown,
scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth,
when he blows upon them, and they wither,
and the tempest carries them off like stubble.
25 To whom then will you compare me,
or who is my equal? says the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes on high and see:
Who created these?
He who brings out their host and numbers them,
calling them all by name;
because he is great in strength,
mighty in power,
not one is missing.
27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
and speak, O Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord,
and my right is disregarded by my God”?
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
and strengthens the powerless.
30 Even youths will faint and be weary,
and the young will fall exhausted;
31 but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.

2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.
3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
9 O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
10 Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

2 Hãy dịu dàng[a] nói với Giê-ru-sa-lem,
Hãy thông báo cho nàng rằng:
Sự lao khổ[b] của nàng đã chấm dứt;
Tội lỗi nàng đã được trả thay,
Vì tất cả tội lỗi mình,
Nàng đã nhận gấp đôi từ tay CHÚA.
3 Có tiếng kêu rằng:
“Hãy chuẩn bị trong đồng hoang
Một con đường cho CHÚA.
Hãy làm ngay thẳng đường cái trong sa mạc
Cho Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta.
4 Mọi thung lũng sẽ được nâng cao,
Mọi núi đồi sẽ bị hạ thấp.
Những nơi gồ ghề sẽ thành bằng phẳng,
Những chỗ lồi lõm sẽ trở nên đồng bằng.
5 Bấy giờ vinh quang của CHÚA sẽ được khải thị
Và mọi người[c] đều sẽ thấy[d]
vì miệng CHÚA
đã phán như thế.”
6 Có tiếng nói: “Hãy kêu lên.”
Tôi hỏi:[e] “Tôi sẽ kêu gì đây?”
Tất cả mọi người chỉ là cỏ,
Mọi sự đẹp đẽ của họ như hoa ngoài đồng.

Khi hơi thở CHÚA thổi qua chúng.
Thật vậy, loài người chỉ là cỏ.

Nhưng Lời Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta đứng vững đời đời.
9 Hỡi người đem tin mừng đến cho Si-ôn,
Hãy đi lên trên núi cao.
Hỡi người loan báo tin mừng cho Giê-ru-sa-lem,
Hãy hết sức cất tiếng lên,
Hãy cất tiếng lên, đừng sợ.
Hãy nói với các thành của Giu-đa rằng:
“Đức Chúa Trời của các ngươi đây.”
10 Kìa, CHÚA đến với quyền năng
Và Ngài dùng cánh tay mình cai trị.
Kìa, Ngài đem phần thưởng đến với Ngài
Và sự báo trả ở trước mặt Ngài.
11 Ngài sẽ chăn dắt đàn chiên mình như người chăn chiên,
Gom những chiên con trong cánh tay,
Ẵm chúng vào lòng
Và nhẹ nhàng dẫn các chiên mẹ.
12 Ai đã dùng lòng bàn tay đong nước biển,[f]
Gang bàn tay đo các tầng trời?
Lấy đấu[g] đong bụi đất?
Cân núi trên bàn cân
Và đồi trên cán cân?
13 Ai có thể lường[h] được Thần của CHÚA?
Và ai là cố vấn để dạy Ngài?
14 Ngài đã tham khảo ai để được khai sáng?
Ai sẽ dạy Ngài con đường công bình?
Ai sẽ dạy Ngài tri thức?
Ai sẽ chỉ cho Ngài con đường hiểu biết?
15 Kìa, các dân khác nào giọt nước trong chậu,
Bị kể như bụi trên bàn cân.
Kìa, Ngài cầm các hải đảo lên như hạt bụi.
16 Li-ban sẽ không có đủ củi đốt,
Cũng không đủ thú vật để làm tế lễ thiêu.
17 Trước mặt Ngài tất cả các nước đều như không,
Chúng bị kể như chưa có
Và hư vô.
18 Các ngươi sẽ ví Đức Chúa Trời với ai?
Lấy hình ảnh nào để sánh với Ngài?

23 Ngài làm cho các hoàng tử trở nên không,
Khiến các kẻ cai trị trái đất trở thành hư vô.
24 Họ vừa mới được trồng,
Họ vừa mới được gieo,
Cây vừa mới đâm rễ trong đất
Thì CHÚA thổi qua và chúng khô héo;
Này, một cơn gió lốc đùa chúng đi như rơm rạ.
25 Đấng Thánh phán: “Các ngươi sẽ so sánh Ta với ai?
Ta sẽ giống[j] ai?”
26 Hãy ngước mắt lên cao,
Và nhìn xem ai đã sáng tạo ra những vật này?
Ai là Đấng đem các thiên thể đến theo số lượng[k]
Và gọi tất cả thiên thể bằng tên?
Vì sức mạnh vĩ đại và quyền năng mạnh mẽ của Ngài
Không một thiên thể nào thiếu.
27 Hỡi Gia-cốp, tại sao ngươi nói;
Hỡi Y-sơ-ra-ên, tại sao ngươi tuyên bố rằng:
“Đường lối tôi bị che khuất khỏi CHÚA!
Đức Chúa Trời của tôi không quan tâm đến quyền lợi tôi!”
28 Ngươi không biết sao?
Ngươi chưa nghe sao?
CHÚA là Đức Chúa Trời đời đời.
Ngài là Đấng sáng tạo các đầu cùng trái đất.
Ngài không kiệt sức cũng không mỏi mệt,
Và sự hiểu biết của Ngài không thể dò được.
29 Ngài ban năng lực cho người kiệt lực;
Ngài thêm sức cho kẻ thiếu sức.
30 Ngay cả người trẻ tuổi cũng sẽ kiệt lực và mệt mỏi;
Các thanh niên sẽ vấp và ngã quỵ.
31 Nhưng ai trông cậy nơi CHÚA
Sẽ được phục hồi sức mới,
Cất cánh bay cao như chim đại bàng;

Comfort for God’s People
40 Comfort, comfort(A) my people,
says your God.
2 Speak tenderly(B) to Jerusalem,
and proclaim to her
that her hard service(C) has been completed,(D)
that her sin has been paid for,(E)
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
double(F) for all her sins.
3 A voice of one calling:
“In the wilderness prepare
the way(G) for the Lord[a];
make straight(H) in the desert
a highway for our God.[b](I)
4 Every valley shall be raised up,(J)
every mountain and hill(K) made low;
the rough ground shall become level,(L)

14 Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him,
and who taught him the right way?
Who was it that taught him knowledge,(AQ)

15 Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket;
they are regarded as dust on the scales;(AS)
he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.(AT)
16 Lebanon(AU) is not sufficient for altar fires,
nor its animals(AV) enough for burnt offerings.
17 Before him all the nations(AW) are as nothing;(AX)
they are regarded by him as worthless
and less than nothing.(AY)
18 With whom, then, will you compare God?(AZ)
To what image(BA) will you liken him?
19 As for an idol,(BB) a metalworker casts it,
and a goldsmith(BC) overlays it with gold(BD)
and fashions silver chains for it.
20 A person too poor to present such an offering
selects wood(BE) that will not rot;
they look for a skilled worker
to set up an idol(BF) that will not topple.(BG)
21 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?(BH)
Has it not been told(BI) you from the beginning?(BJ)
Have you not understood(BK) since the earth was founded?(BL)
22 He sits enthroned(BM) above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.(BN)
He stretches out the heavens(BO) like a canopy,(BP)
and spreads them out like a tent(BQ) to live in.(BR)
23 He brings princes(BS) to naught
and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.(BT)
24 No sooner are they planted,
no sooner are they sown,
no sooner do they take root(BU) in the ground,
than he blows(BV) on them and they wither,(BW)
and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.(BX)
25 “To whom will you compare me?(BY)

26 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:(CA)
Who created(CB) all these?
He who brings out the starry host(CC) one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,(CD)
not one of them is missing.(CE)
27 Why do you complain, Jacob?
Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
my cause is disregarded by my God”?(CF)
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?(CG)
The Lord is the everlasting(CH) God,
the Creator(CI) of the ends of the earth.(CJ)
He will not grow tired or weary,(CK)
and his understanding no one can fathom.(CL)
29 He gives strength(CM) to the weary(CN)
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men(CO) stumble and fall;(CP)
31 but those who hope(CQ) in the Lord
will renew their strength.(CR)
They will soar on wings like eagles;(CS)
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.(CT)
