Будући цар
9 Али неће више бити тескобе за оне који су били у невољи. Бог је у прошлости унизио земљу Завулонову и земљу Нефталимову, али у будућности ће указати част земљи уз пут према мору, с оне стране Јордана – Галилеји незнабожачкој.
2 Народ који живи у тами
виде светлост велику;
онима који живе у земљи сенке смрти
светлост засја.
3 Умножио си народ
и радост му увећао.
Радују се пред тобом
као што се људи радују жетви,
као што се радују када деле плен.
4 Јер, сломио си јарам који их је притискао,
мотку на њиховим плећима,
батину њихових тлачитеља,
као у време победе над Мидјаном.
5 Изгореће свака ратничка чизма
и свака одора натопљена крвљу –
биће гориво огњу.
6 Јер, дете нам се родило,
сина смо добили;
власт му је на плећима.
Име му је Саветник дивни, Бог силни,
Отац вечни, Кнез мира.
7 Његовој силној власти
и миру неће бити краја.
Владаће на престолу Давидовом
и над његовим царством,
учврстивши га и одржавајући
на правди и праведности,
од тада па довека.
Учиниће то ревност ГОСПОДА над војскама.
Божији гнев према Израелу
8 Господ посла реч против Јакова
и она паде на Израела.
9 Сав народ ће знати,
Ефрем и житељи Самарије,
који говоре надменог и бахатог срца:
10 »Цигле попадаше,
али зидаћемо од тесаног камена;
смоквина стабла посечена,
али заменићемо их кедровима.«
11 Али ГОСПОД ојача Рецинове душмане,
нахушка његове непријатеље.
12 Арамејци са истока, Филистејци са запада
разјапљеним устима прождреше Израел.
И поред тога, његов гнев се не одврати,
још му је рука подигнута.
13 Али народ се не врати
ономе који га удари
и не потражи ГОСПОДА над војскама.
14 Зато ће ГОСПОД Израелу одсећи и главу и реп,
и палмову грану и трску у истом дану:
15 старешине и угледници су глава,
а реп пророци који уче лажи.
16 Вође овог народа заводе га,
па вођени одоше странпутицом.
17 Зато Господ неће бити задовољан младићима,
нити ће се сажалити на сирочад и удовице.
Јер, сви су безбожни и зли,
сва уста изричу будалаштине.
И поред свега, његов гнев се не одврати,
још му је рука подигнута.
18 Да, опакост пламти као огањ,
драч и трње прождире,
шумске шипраге пали,
па се као стуб дима подиже увис.
19 Гневом ГОСПОДА над војскама биће земља спаљена
и народ постати гориво огњу.
Нико свога брата неће поштедети.
20 Прождираће здесна, а остати гладни;
јешће слева, а неће се најести.
Сваки ће се хранити месом свога порода:
21 Манасија ће јести Ефрема, Ефрем Манасију,
а обојица заједно Јуду.
И поред свега, његов гнев се не одврати,
још му је рука подигнута.

Бог се јавља и објављује
9 Али неће бити мрак што њу гуши као у времену претходном, кад је обезвредио земљу завулоновску и земљу нефталимску, а потоњи ће прославити пут што води ка мору с друге стране Јордана, Галилеју многобожачку.
2 Народ који по тами хода,
велику је светлост угледао,
настањене у земљи сена смртнога,
светлост их јарка обасја.
3 Радост си увећао;
пред тобом се радују
као у жетвеној радости,
као што се веселе када плен деле;
4 јер јарам на њ натоварен
и обрамицу на његовом рамену,
шибу прогонитеља његова,
ти си поломио као у дан мадијански.
5 Та, свака цокула маршира у метеж,
и плашт се натапа у крви,
те ће бити за ватру
храна разгорела.
6 Та, нама се мушко дете родило,
нама је син дат;
власт је њему на рамену.
И он ће се звати:
Дивни Саветник, Бог Силни,
Отац Вечни, Владар Миротворни.
7 Распростирању власти и миру
неће бити краја
на престолу Давидову
и на царству његову,
да га среди и да га утврди
у праву и у праведности
од сада и до века.
Ревност Господа над војскама
то ће учинити.
Господ плаћа
8 Господар је реч послао Јакову
и она је међу Израиљце пала.
9 И сав народ њу ће упознати,
Јефремовци и становништво Самарије,
који говоре срцем
надменим и охолим:
10 „Ако су опеке пале,
градићемо од тесана камена;
дивље смокве су сасечене,
кедре ћемо тамо подићи.“
11 А Господ размешта против Ресина противнике његове
и подбада непријатеље његове,
12 Арамеју спреда, Филистејце страга,
те Израиљ прождиру својим устима.
Уза све то гнев се његов умирити неће
и рука му испружена остаје.
13 Ипак се народ обратио није оном који га је ударио,
и Господа над војскама потражили нису;
14 те је Господ одсекао од Израиља главу и реп,
грану и рогоз, у један дан.
15 Старешина и лице угледно – то је глава,
а пророк који научава лаж – то је реп.
16 Који овај народ воде, они заводе;
који бивају вођени, они пропадају.
17 Зато се Господар његовим младићима радовати неће,
његовој сиротињи и удовицама смиловати се неће.
Зато што је сав народ опак и зао,
на сва уста безумно говоре.
Уза све то гнев се његов умирити неће
и рука му испружена остаје.
18 Зато што се опакост као пожар распламсала,
бодље и трње прождире,
шумски честар је упалила,
облаци дима се подижу.
19 Земља пламти од јарости Господа над војскама,
и народ као храна за пожар постаје:
ни свог брата нико не поштеди.
20 Ждере с десна
и опет је гладан;
гута с лева
и опет сит није.
Човек једе свога ближњег месо:
21 Манасијевци Јефремовце,
Јефремовци Манасијевце,
а заједно оба на Јудејце.
Уза све то гнев се његов умирити неће
и рука му испружена остаје.

The Government of the Promised Son(A)
9 Nevertheless (B)the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed,
As when at (C)first He lightly esteemed
The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
And (D)afterward more heavily oppressed her,
By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan,
In Galilee of the Gentiles.
2 (E)The people who walked in darkness
Have seen a great light;
Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,
Upon them a light has shined.
3 You have multiplied the nation
And [a]increased its joy;
They rejoice before You
According to the joy of harvest,
As men rejoice (F)when they divide the spoil.
4 For You have broken the yoke of his burden
And the staff of his shoulder,
The rod of his oppressor,
As in the day of (G)Midian.
5 For every warrior’s [b]sandal from the noisy battle,
And garments rolled in blood,
(H)Will be used for burning and fuel [c]of fire.
6 (I)For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a (J)Son is given;
And (K)the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
(L)Wonderful, Counselor, (M)Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, (N)Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace
(O)There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The (P)zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
The Punishment of Samaria
8 The Lord sent a word against (Q)Jacob,
And it has fallen on Israel.
9 All the people will know—
Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria—
Who say in pride and arrogance of heart:
10 “The bricks have fallen down,
But we will rebuild with hewn stones;
The sycamores are cut down,
But we will replace them with cedars.”
11 Therefore the Lord shall set up
The adversaries of Rezin against him,
And spur his enemies on,
12 The Syrians before and the Philistines behind;
And they shall devour Israel with an open mouth.
For all this His anger is not turned away,
But His hand is [d]stretched out still.
13 For the people do not turn to Him who strikes them,
Nor do they seek the Lord of hosts.
14 Therefore the Lord will cut off head and tail from Israel,
Palm branch and bulrush (R)in one day.
15 The elder and honorable, he is the head;
The prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail.
16 For (S)the leaders of this people cause them to err,
And those who are led by them are destroyed.
17 Therefore the Lord (T)will have no joy in their young men,
Nor have mercy on their fatherless and widows;
For everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer,
And every mouth speaks [e]folly.
(U)For all this His anger is not turned away,
But His hand is stretched out still.
18 For wickedness (V)burns as the fire;
It shall devour the briers and thorns,
And kindle in the thickets of the forest;
They shall mount up like rising smoke.
19 Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts
(W)The land is burned up,
And the people shall be as fuel for the fire;
(X)No man shall spare his brother.
20 And he shall [f]snatch on the right hand
And be hungry;
He shall devour on the left hand
(Y)And not be satisfied;
(Z)Every man shall eat the flesh of his own arm.
21 Manasseh shall devour Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh;
Together they shall be (AA)against Judah.
(AB)For all this His anger is not turned away,
But His hand is stretched out still.

9 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4 For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
9 And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
11 Therefore the Lord shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;
12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13 For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the Lord of hosts.
14 Therefore the Lord will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.
15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
17 Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18 For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.
19 Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
20 And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
