41 Then the man brought me to the main hall(A) and measured the jambs; the width of the jambs was six cubits[a] on each side.[b] 2 The entrance was ten cubits[c] wide, and the projecting walls on each side of it were five cubits[d] wide. He also measured the main hall; it was forty cubits long and twenty cubits wide.[e](B)
3 Then he went into the inner sanctuary and measured the jambs of the entrance; each was two cubits[f] wide. The entrance was six cubits wide, and the projecting walls on each side of it were seven cubits[g] wide. 4 And he measured the length of the inner sanctuary; it was twenty cubits, and its width was twenty cubits across the end of the main hall.(C) He said to me, “This is the Most Holy Place.(D)”
5 Then he measured the wall of the temple; it was six cubits thick, and each side room around the temple was four cubits[h] wide. 6 The side rooms were on three levels, one above another, thirty(E) on each level. There were ledges all around the wall of the temple to serve as supports for the side rooms, so that the supports were not inserted into the wall of the temple.(F) 7 The side rooms all around the temple were wider at each successive level. The structure surrounding the temple was built in ascending stages, so that the rooms widened as one went upward. A stairway(G) went up from the lowest floor to the top floor through the middle floor.
8 I saw that the temple had a raised base all around it, forming the foundation of the side rooms. It was the length of the rod, six long cubits. 9 The outer wall of the side rooms was five cubits thick. The open area between the side rooms of the temple 10 and the priests’ rooms was twenty cubits wide all around the temple. 11 There were entrances to the side rooms from the open area, one on the north and another on the south; and the base adjoining the open area was five cubits wide all around.
12 The building facing the temple courtyard on the west side was seventy cubits[i] wide. The wall of the building was five cubits thick all around, and its length was ninety cubits.[j]
13 Then he measured the temple; it was a hundred cubits[k] long, and the temple courtyard and the building with its walls were also a hundred cubits long. 14 The width of the temple courtyard on the east, including the front of the temple, was a hundred cubits.(H)
15 Then he measured the length of the building facing the courtyard at the rear of the temple, including its galleries(I) on each side; it was a hundred cubits.
The main hall, the inner sanctuary and the portico facing the court, 16 as well as the thresholds and the narrow windows(J) and galleries around the three of them—everything beyond and including the threshold was covered with wood. The floor, the wall up to the windows, and the windows were covered.(K) 17 In the space above the outside of the entrance to the inner sanctuary and on the walls at regular intervals all around the inner and outer sanctuary 18 were carved(L) cherubim(M) and palm trees.(N) Palm trees alternated with cherubim. Each cherub had two faces:(O) 19 the face of a human being toward the palm tree on one side and the face of a lion toward the palm tree on the other. They were carved all around the whole temple.(P) 20 From the floor to the area above the entrance, cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the main hall.
21 The main hall(Q) had a rectangular doorframe, and the one at the front of the Most Holy Place was similar. 22 There was a wooden altar(R) three cubits[l] high and two cubits square[m]; its corners, its base[n] and its sides were of wood. The man said to me, “This is the table(S) that is before the Lord.” 23 Both the main hall(T) and the Most Holy Place had double doors.(U) 24 Each door had two leaves—two hinged leaves(V) for each door. 25 And on the doors of the main hall were carved cherubim and palm trees like those carved on the walls, and there was a wooden overhang on the front of the portico. 26 On the sidewalls of the portico were narrow windows with palm trees carved on each side. The side rooms of the temple also had overhangs.(W)

Het tempelhuis (vervolg)
41 Toen bracht de man mij naar de voorzaal in het tempelhuis. Daar meette hij de rij pilaren: 6 el (3,18 m) aan de ene kant en 6 el aan de andere kant. 2 De ingang van de voorzaal was 10 el (5,3 m) breed. (Net zo breed als vroeger de tent van ontmoeting.) Naast de ingang was aan beide kanten een muur van 5 el (2,65 m). De voorzaal was dus 20 el (10,6 m) breed en hij was 40 el (21,2 m) lang.
3 Daarna liep de man door de voorzaal naar de achterzaal. De pilaar bij de ingang was 2 el (1,06 m) dik. De ingang was 6 el (3,18 m) breed en de muren aan beide kanten van de ingang waren 7 el (3,71 m). 4 De achterzaal was 20 el (10,6 m) lang en 20 el breed. Hij lag helemaal achteraan in de tempel. En de man zei tegen mij: "Deze achterzaal is de allerheiligste kamer."[a]
De gebouwen rond het tempelhuis
5 Toen meette hij de muur van het tempelhuis. Die was 6 el (3,18 m). Rondom tegen de muur was een rij kamers gebouwd. De kamers waren 4 el (2,12 m) diep. 6 Daarop stonden nog twee verdiepingen met kamers. Elke verdieping had 30 kamers. Langs de kamers liep een galerij waardoor je in de kamers kon komen. De muren van het tempelhuis sprongen bij elke verdieping een eindje in. Zo rustte elke volgende verdieping op de muur van het tempelhuis. De galerijen waren dus niet aan de muur bevestigd, maar rustten er op. 7 Zo waren de galerijen rondom het tempelhuis op elke volgende verdieping iets breder dan op de verdieping eronder. Van de onderste verdieping kon je recht omhoog door de tweede verdieping naar de derde verdieping.[b]
8 Rond het tempelhuis lag een terras van precies 6 el (3,18 m) hoog. Daarop was het gebouw rond het tempelhuis gebouwd. 9 De muur van het gebouw rond het tempelhuis was 5 el (2,65 m) dik. Het gedeelte van het terras dat onder het gebouw uitkwam, was 5 el (2,65 m) breed. 10 Tussen het gebouw rond het tempelhuis en de kamers van de priesters was een open ruimte van 20 el (10,6 m) breed. 11 Het gebouw rond het tempelhuis had twee ingangen die uitkwamen op die open ruimte. De ene ingang was aan de noordkant en de andere ingang was aan de zuidkant. Het terras langs de open ruimte was 5 el (2,65 m) breed. 12 Aan de westkant van het tempelhuis stond een gebouw van 70 el (37,1 m) breed en 90 el (47,7 m) lang. De muur was overal 5 el (2,65 m) dik.
13 De man meette de lengte van het tempelhuis: 100 el (53 m). Het binnenplein was aan de westkant ook 100 el (53 m) breed. 14 Ook aan de oostkant was het plein met het hele gebouw, dus het tempelhuis met het gebouw van drie verdiepingen er omheen, 100 el breed. 15 Tenslotte meette hij ook de lengte van het gebouw met galerijen dat achter het tempelhuis aan het plein stond. Het was 100 el (53 m) lang.
Binnen in het tempelhuis
16 Het hele tempelhuis, met de voorhal aan het binnenplein, de ingang, de ramen en de galerijen, was met hout afgewerkt. De ramen waren dicht. 17 Ook de ruimte boven de ingang, de muren tot aan de achterzaal en de hele buitenmuur waren met hout bedekt. Het hele gebouw was van binnen en van buiten met hout afgewerkt. 18 Daarop waren afbeeldingen van engelen en palmbomen gemaakt. Steeds waren er om en om een palmboom en een engel afgebeeld. De engelen hadden twee gezichten. 19 Aan de ene kant keek elke engel met het gezicht van een mens naar de palmboom aan die kant. En aan de andere kant keek elke engel met het gezicht van een leeuw naar de palmboom aan de andere kant. In het hele huis waren die afbeeldingen aangebracht. 20 De afbeeldingen waren zo hoog als de muur: van de grond tot aan het plafond. Alle muren waren ermee bedekt, tot boven de deuren. Ook de muren van de tempel. 21 De ingang van de voorhal en de ingang van de voorzaal hadden vierkante deurposten.
22 Het houten altaar[c] dat vóór de ingang tot de achterzaal, de allerheiligste kamer, stond, was 3 el (1,59 m) hoog en 2 el (1,06 m) lang en 2 el breed. Ook de hoeken, het voetstuk en de zijkanten waren van hout. De man zei tegen mij: "Dit is de tafel die vóór de Heer staat."
23 Er waren twee deuren in de ingang van de voorhal naar de voorzaal, en ook twee deuren in de ingang van de voorzaal naar de allerheiligste kamer. 24 Elke deur bestond uit twee delen.[d] Dus de linker deur bestond uit twee delen en de rechter deur bestond uit twee delen. 25 Op deze deuren waren net zulke afbeeldingen van engelen en palmbomen gemaakt als op de muren. Boven de deuren naar de voorzaal was een houten afdak. 26 In de muren zaten dichte ramen. Op de muren naast de deuren en op de muren van de zijkamers en op de afdaken stonden afbeeldingen van palmbomen.

Dimensions of the Sanctuary
41 Then he (A)brought me into the [a]sanctuary and measured the doorposts, six cubits wide on one side and six cubits wide on the other side—the width of the tabernacle. 2 The width of the entryway was ten cubits, and the side walls of the entrance were five cubits on this side and five cubits on the other side; and he measured its length, forty cubits, and its width, twenty cubits.
3 Also he went inside and measured the doorposts, two cubits; and the entrance, six cubits high; and the width of the entrance, seven cubits. 4 (B)He measured the length, twenty cubits; and the width, twenty cubits, beyond the sanctuary; and he said to me, “This is the Most Holy Place.”
The Side Chambers on the Wall
5 Next, he measured the wall of the [b]temple, six cubits. The width of each side chamber all around the temple was four cubits on every side. 6 (C)The side chambers were in three stories, one above the other, thirty chambers in each story; they rested on [c]ledges which were for the side chambers all around, that they might be supported, but (D)not fastened to the wall of the temple. 7 As one went up from story to story, the side chambers (E)became wider all around, because their supporting ledges in the wall of the temple ascended like steps; therefore the width of the structure increased as one went up from the lowest story to the highest by way of the middle one. 8 I also saw an elevation all around the temple; it was the foundation of the side chambers, (F)a full rod, that is, six cubits high. 9 The thickness of the outer wall of the side chambers was five cubits, and so also the remaining terrace by the place of the side chambers of the [d]temple. 10 And between it and the wall chambers was a width of twenty cubits all around the temple on every side. 11 The doors of the side chambers opened on the terrace, one door toward the north and another toward the south; and the width of the terrace was five cubits all around.
The Building at the Western End
12 The building that faced the separating courtyard at its western end was seventy cubits wide; the wall of the building was five cubits thick all around, and its length ninety cubits.
Dimensions and Design of the Temple Area
13 So he measured the temple, one (G)hundred cubits long; and the separating courtyard with the building and its walls was one hundred cubits long; 14 also the width of the eastern face of the temple, including the separating courtyard, was one hundred cubits. 15 He measured the length of the building behind it, facing the separating courtyard, with its (H)galleries on the one side and on the other side, one hundred cubits, as well as the inner [e]temple and the porches of the court, 16 their doorposts and (I)the beveled window frames. And the galleries all around their three stories opposite the threshold were paneled with (J)wood from the ground to the windows—the windows were covered— 17 from the space above the door, even to the inner [f]room, as well as outside, and on every wall all around, inside and outside, by measure.
18 And it was made (K)with cherubim and (L)palm trees, a palm tree between cherub and cherub. Each cherub had two faces, 19 (M)so that the face of a man was toward a palm tree on one side, and the face of a young lion toward a palm tree on the other side; thus it was made throughout the temple all around. 20 From the floor to the space above the door, and on the wall of the sanctuary, cherubim and palm trees were carved.
21 The (N)doorposts of the temple were square, as was the front of the sanctuary; their appearance was similar. 22 (O)The altar was of wood, three cubits high, and its length two cubits. Its corners, its length, and its sides were of wood; and he said to me, “This is (P)the table that is (Q)before the Lord.”
23 (R)The temple and the sanctuary had two doors. 24 The doors had two (S)panels apiece, two folding panels: two panels for one door and two panels for the other door. 25 Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the doors of the temple just as they were carved on the walls. A wooden canopy was on the front of the vestibule outside. 26 There were (T)beveled window frames and palm trees on one side and on the other, on the sides of the vestibule—also on the side chambers of the temple and on the canopies.
