2 Услышь слова мои, Вечный,
пойми стенания мои!
3 Внемли крику о помощи,
мой Царь и мой Бог,
ведь я молюсь Тебе!
4 Утром, Вечный, Ты услышишь мой голос,
утром предстану с мольбой перед Тобою
и замру в ожидании.
5 Ты не Бог, желающий беззакония,
зло не сможет обитать с Тобой.
6 Надменные не устоят перед Тобой,
всех делающих зло Ты ненавидишь.
7 Ты погубишь говорящих ложь;
кровожадных и коварных гнушается Вечный.
8 Но я по великой милости Твоей
войду в дом Твой,
поклонюсь в святом храме Твоём
в страхе перед Тобой.
9 Веди меня, Вечный, в праведности Твоей,
так как у меня много врагов;
уровняй предо мной путь,
по которому мне идти.
10 Ведь ни одному слову из уст их верить нельзя,
сердце их исполнено пагубы.
Гортань их – открытая могила,
языком своим они льстят.
11 Осуди их, Всевышний!
Пусть падут из-за козней своих!
Из-за многих грехов их отвергни их,
ведь они восстали против Тебя.
12 Но пусть возрадуются все надеющиеся на Тебя,
пусть вечно поют от радости!
Окажи им Своё покровительство,
чтобы возрадовались все любящие имя Твоё.
13 Ведь Ты благословляешь праведника, Вечный,
как щитом, окружаешь его благосклонностью.

2 Господи, услышь меня, пойми,
что я Тебе сказать пытаюсь.
3 Бог мой, Царь мой,
выслушай и прими мою молитву.
4 Господь, Тебе несу дары я по утрам.
О помощи к Тебе взываю,
и мои молитвы по утрам Ты слышишь.
5 Боже, Ты не позволишь злым людям
к Тебе приблизиться;
они не могут находиться в присутствии Твоём![b]
6 Глупцам[c] нет места при Тебе,
и зло творящих Ты ненавидишь.
7 Лжецам Ты шлёшь уничтожение.
Ты презираешь, Господи,
всех кровожадных и лукавых.
8 Но я же, по великой милости Твоей,
войду в Твой храм святой,
и, Господи, с благоговением поклонюсь Тебе.
9 Господь, так укажи,
как правильно мне жить
и помоги с пути не сбиться.
Ведь каждый во мне только слабости ищет,
поэтому путь правильный мне укажи, Господь.
10 Враги мои правду никогда не говорят!
Они—лжецы и искажают правду.
Их рты—раскрытые могилы.
Многих вводят они в обман
своими льстивыми словами[d].
11 Накажи их, Господи,
пускай они в свои же попадут капканы.
Пошли им наказание за грехи,
за их непослушание Тебе.
12 Но сделай всех, кто верует в Тебя,
счастливыми навеки!
Того, кто имя Твоё любит,
спаси и сохрани, и силы дай.
13 Господи, благословляя праведных,
Ты окружаешь их Своей любовью,
которая словно огромный щит оберегает их.

The various psalms reflect nearly every human emotion: unbridled joy, deep-seated jealousy, seething anger, hope, and depression. These are only a few of the emotions behind the poetry we hear expressed in individual psalms. Feelings and emotions are central to what it means to be human. We cannot escape them nor should we. Psalms invites us to take the emotions we feel and bring them before God. This book models how to come before God in times of sadness, brokenness, and joy. Psalm 5 is a cry for help and a plea for guidance by a person who suffered at the hands of an enemy. It talks about the morning as the time to pray and listen for God to answer. Like many laments, it begins with a cry but ends in confidence.
1 Bend Your ear to me and listen to my words, O Eternal One;
hear the deep cry of my heart.
2 Listen to my call for help,
my King, my True God;
to You alone I pray.
3 In the morning, O Eternal One, listen for my voice;
in the day’s first light, I will offer my prayer to You and watch expectantly for Your answer.
4 You’re not a God who smiles at sin;
You cannot abide with evil.
5 The proud wither in Your presence;
You hate all who pervert and destroy what is good.
6 You destroy those with lying lips;
the Eternal detests those who murder and deceive.
7 Yet I, by Your loving grace,
am welcomed into Your house;
I will turn my face toward Your holy place
and fall on my knees in reverence before You.
8 O Eternal One, lead me in the path of Your righteousness
amidst those who wish me harm;
make Your way clear to me.
9 Their words cannot be trusted;
they are destructive to their cores.
What comes out of their mouths is as foul as a rotting corpse;
their words stink of flattery.
10 Find them guilty, O True God;
let their own devices bring them ruin.
Throw them out, and let them drown in the deluge of their sin,
for in revolt they brazenly spit in Your face.
11 But let those who run to You for safety be glad they did;
let them break out in joyful song.
May You keep them safe—
their love for You resounding in their hearts.
12 You, O Eternal, are the One who lays all good things in the laps of the right-hearted.
Your blessings surround them like a shield.
