7 Словото, което дойде към Еремия от Господа, казвайки:

2 Застани в портата на дома Господен, Та възгласи там това слово, като кажеш: Слушайте словото Господно, всички юдейци, Които влизате през тези порти, за да се поклоните Господу.

3 Така казва Господ на Силите, Израилевият Бог: Поправете пътищата си и делата си, И Аз ще ви утвърдя на това място.

4 Не уповавайте на лъжливи думи, та да казвате: Храмът Господен, храмът Господен, Храмът Господен е това.

5 Защото ако наистина поправите пътищата си и делата си; Ако съдите съвършено право между човека и ближния му;

6 Ако не угнетявате чужденеца, сирачето и вдовицата, И не проливате невинна кръв на това място, Нито следвате чужди богове за ваша повреда;

7 Тогава ще ви направя да живеете на това място, В земята, която дадох на бащите от века и до века.

8 Ето, вие уповавате на лъжливи думи, От които няма да се ползувате.

9 Като крадете, убивате, прелюбодействувате, И се кълнете лъжливо, и кадите на Ваала, И следвате други богове, които не сте познавали

10 Дохождате ли после да стоите пред мене в тоя дом, Който се нарича с Моето име, И да казвате - Отървахме се, - за да вършите всички тия мерзости?

11 Тоя дом, който се нарича с Моето име, Вертеп ли за разбойници стана във вашите очи? Ето, сам Аз видях това, казва Господ.

12 Но идете сега на мястото Ми, което бе в Сило, Гдето в начало настаних името си, Та вижте що му сторих Поради злодеянието на людете Си Израиля.

13 И сега понеже извършихте всички тия дела, казва Господ, И Аз ви говорих, като ставах рано и говорех, а вие не послушахте, И ви виках, но не отговорихте;

14 Затова, ще направя на дома, който се нарича с Моето име, На който вие уповавате, И на мястото, което дадох вам и на бащите ви, Както направих на Сило.

15 И ще ви отхвърля от лицето Си Както отхвърлих всичките ви братя, Цялото Ефремово потомство.

16 Затова, ти недей се моли за тия люде, И не възнасяй вик или молба за тях, Нито ходатайствувай пред мене; Защото няма да те послушам.

17 Не видиш ли що вършат те в Юдовите градове И по ерусалимските улици?

18 Чадата събират дърва, и бащите кладат огъня, А жените месят тестото, За да направят пити на небесната царица, И да направят възлияния на други богове, Та да Ме разгневят.

19 Но Мене ли разгневяват? казва Господ, - Дали не себе си разгневяват за посрамяване на своите лица?

20 Затова, така казва Господ Иеова: Ето, гневът Ми и яростта Ми ще се излеят на това място, На човек, и на животно, На полските дървета, и на земния плод; И ще пламне, и няма да угасне.

21 Така казва Господ на Силите, Израилевият Бог: Притурете всеизгарянията си на жертвите си, И яжте месото и от тях.

22 Защото не говорих на бащите ви, нито им дадох заповеди, За всеизгаряния и жертви В денят, когато ги изведох из Египетската земя;

23 Но това им заповядах, като рекох: Слушайте гласа Ми, И Аз ще ви бъде Бог, И вие ще Ми бъдете люде! И ходете по всичките пътища, които ви заповядвам, За да благоденствувате.

24 Те, обаче, не послушаха нито преклониха ухото си, Но ходиха по намеренията и по упоритостта на своето нечестиво сърце, И отидоха назад, а не напред.

25 От деня, когато излязоха бащите ви из Египетската земя, до днес Пращах всичките Си слуги пророците при вас, Като ставах рано всеки ден и ги пращах;

26 Те обаче не Ме послушаха, нито преклониха ухото си, Но закоравиха врата си; Постъпиха по-зле от бащите си.

27 Затова, говори им всички тия думи, Но те няма да те послушат; Тоже извикай към тях, Но те не ще ти отговорят.

28 Тогава им кажи: Тоя е народът, който не слуша гласа на Господа своя Бог, Нито приема наставления; Честността изчезна и се изгуби от устата им.

29 Острижи косата си, дъщерьо ерусалимска, и хвърли я, И плачи със силен глас по голите височини; Защото Господ отхвърли и остави поколението, на което се разгневи.

30 Защото Юдейците сториха това, което бе зло пред Мене, казва Господ; Поставиха мерзостите си в дома, Който се нарича с Моето име, та го оскверниха.

31 И издигнаха високите места на Тофет, Който е в долината на Еномовия син, За да горят синовете си и дъщерите си в огън, - Нещо, което не съм заповядал, нито ми е дохождало на ум*.

32 Затова, ето, идат дни, казва Господ, Когато няма да се нарича вече Тофет, Нито долина на Еномовия син, Но долина на клането; Защото ще погребват в Тофет, понеже не ще остане място другаде;

33 И труповете на тия люде ще бъдат Храна на небесните птици и на земните зверове; И не ще има кой да ги плаши.

34 Тогава ще направя да престане в Юдовите градове И по Ерусалимските улици Гласът на радостта и гласът на веселието, Гласът на младоженеца и гласът на невястата; Защото земята ще запустее.

7 Dies ist das Wort, welches vom Herrn an Jeremia erging:

2 Tritt unter das Tor am Hause des Herrn
und predige dort dieses Wort und sprich:
Höret das Wort des Herrn,
ihr alle aus Juda, die ihr zu diesen Toren eingehet,
um den Herrn anzubeten!

3 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels:

Bessert euren Wandel und eure Taten,
so will ich euch an diesem Orte wohnen lassen!
4 Verlaßt euch nicht auf trügerische Worte wie diese:
„Der Tempel des Herrn, der Tempel des Herrn,
der Tempel des Herrn ist dies!“
5 Denn nur wenn ihr euren Wandel und eure Taten ernstlich bessert,
wenn ihr wirklich Recht schafft untereinander,
6 wenn ihr die Fremdlinge, die Waisen und Witwen nicht bedrückt
und an dieser Stätte kein unschuldiges Blut vergießt
und nicht andern Göttern nachwandelt zu eurem eigenen Schaden, -
7 dann will ich euch an diesem Orte wohnen lassen,
in dem Lande, das ich euren Vätern gegeben habe,
von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit.
8 Seht, ihr verlaßt euch auf trügerische Reden,
die keinen Nutzen bringen!
9 Nachdem ihr gestohlen, gemordet, die Ehe gebrochen,
falsch geschworen, dem Baal geräuchert habt
und andern Göttern, die ihr nicht kennet, nachgelaufen seid,
10 so kommt ihr hernach und tretet vor mein Angesicht
in diesem Hause, das nach meinem Namen genannt ist,
und sprecht: „Wir sind geborgen!“ -
damit ihr alle diese Greuel verüben könnt.
11 Ist denn dieses Haus, das nach meinem Namen genannt ist,
in euren Augen zu einer Räuberhöhle[a] geworden?
Ja wahrlich, auch ich sehe es so an, spricht der Herr.
12 Denn geht doch hin zu meiner Stätte in Silo,
wo ich zuerst meinen Namen wohnen ließ,
und seht, wie ich mit ihr verfahren bin
wegen der Bosheit meines Volkes Israel!
13 Und nun, weil ihr alle diese Freveltaten verübt habt,
spricht der Herr,
und ich frühe und fleißig[b] zu euch geredet habe, ihr aber nicht hören wolltet,
weil ich euch gerufen, ihr aber nicht geantwortet habt,
14 so will ich auch mit dem Hause, das nach meinem Namen genannt ist
und darauf ihr euch verlasset,
mit dem Orte, den ich euch und euren Vätern gegeben habe,
so verfahren, wie ich mit Silo verfahren bin;
15 und ich will auch euch von meinem Angesicht verwerfen,
gleichwie ich alle eure Brüder,
die ganze Nachkommenschaft Ephraims, verworfen habe!

16 Du aber sollst für dieses Volk keine Fürbitte einlegen,
nicht flehen und für sie beten
und nicht in mich dringen;
denn ich werde dich keineswegs erhören!
17 Siehst du denn nicht, was sie in den Städten Judas
und auf den Gassen von Jerusalem tun?
18 Die Kinder lesen Holz zusammen,
und die Väter zünden das Feuer an,
die Frauen aber kneten Teig,
um der Himmelskönigin Kuchen zu backen;
und fremden Göttern gießen sie Trankopfer aus,
um mich zu ärgern.
19 Indes, sollten sie mich damit ärgern? spricht der Herr;
nicht vielmehr sich selbst,
auf daß sie zuschanden werden?

20 Darum spricht Gott, der Herr, also:

Siehe, mein Zorn und mein Grimm wird sich über diesen Ort ergießen,
über die Menschen und über das Vieh,
über die Bäume des Feldes und über die Früchte der Erde,
und er wird unauslöschlich brennen!

21 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels:

Füget nur eure Brandopfer zu den Schlachtopfern hinzu
und esset Fleisch!
22 Denn ich habe zu euren Vätern nichts gesagt und ihnen nichts befohlen
in bezug auf Brandopfer und Schlachtopfer
am Tage, als ich sie aus Ägyptenland führte,
23 sondern dieses habe ich ihnen befohlen:
Gehorchet meiner Stimme,
so will ich euer Gott sein,
und ihr sollt mein Volk sein;
und wandelt in allen Wegen, die ich euch gebieten werde,
damit es euch wohlergehe!
24 Aber sie gehorchten nicht und neigten mir ihre Ohren nicht zu,
sondern wandelten nach den Ratschlägen, nach dem Starrsinn ihres bösen Herzens,
und sie wandten mir den Rücken zu und nicht das Angesicht.
25 Von dem Tage an, da eure Väter aus Ägyptenland zogen,
bis auf diesen Tag
habe ich euch alle meine Knechte, die Propheten, gesandt,
täglich, frühe und fleißig;
26 aber sie haben mir nicht gehorcht und mir kein Gehör geschenkt,
sondern erzeigten sich noch halsstarriger
und böser als ihre Väter.
27 Und wenn du auch alle diese Worte zu ihnen redest, so werden sie doch nicht auf dich hören;
und wenn du ihnen zurufst, werden sie dir nicht antworten.
28 Darum sollst du zu ihnen sagen:
Dies ist das Volk, welches auf die Stimme des Herrn, seines Gottes, nicht hören
und keine Züchtigung annehmen will;
dahin ist die Wahrhaftigkeit, weggetilgt aus ihrem Munde!

Das Würgetal

29 So schere nun deinen Haarschmuck ab und wirf ihn weg
und stimme auf kahlen Höhen ein Klagelied an!
Denn verworfen und verstoßen hat der Herr
das Geschlecht, über das er zornig ist.
30 Denn die Kinder Juda haben getan, was in meinen Augen böse ist,
spricht der Herr;
sie haben ihre Greuel in das Haus gesetzt,
das nach meinem Namen genannt ist,
und es dadurch verunreinigt.
31 Sie haben auch die Höhen des Tophet im Tal Ben-Hinnom gebaut,
um ihre Söhne und Töchter mit Feuer zu verbrennen,
was ich ihnen nie befohlen habe
und was mir nie in den Sinn gekommen ist.
32 Darum siehe, es kommen Tage, spricht der Herr,
da man nicht mehr vom „Tophet“ oder vom „Tal Ben-Hinnom“ reden wird,
sondern vom „Würgetal“;
und man wird im Tophet begraben müssen, weil sonst kein Raum mehr ist;
33 und die Leichname dieses Volkes werden den Vögeln des Himmels und den wilden Tieren zur Speise dienen,
und niemand wird sie verscheuchen.
34 Also will ich in den Städten Judas und auf den Gassen Jerusalems
das Jubel- und Freudengeschrei,
die Stimme des Bräutigams und der Braut zum Verstummen bringen;
denn das Land soll verwüstet werden!

7 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Stand(A) at the gate of the Lord’s house and there proclaim this message:

“‘Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the Lord. 3 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways(B) and your actions, and I will let you live(C) in this place. 4 Do not trust(D) in deceptive(E) words and say, “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!” 5 If you really change(F) your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly,(G) 6 if you do not oppress(H) the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood(I) in this place, and if you do not follow other gods(J) to your own harm, 7 then I will let you live in this place, in the land(K) I gave your ancestors(L) for ever and ever. 8 But look, you are trusting(M) in deceptive(N) words that are worthless.

9 “‘Will you steal(O) and murder,(P) commit adultery(Q) and perjury,[a](R) burn incense to Baal(S) and follow other gods(T) you have not known, 10 and then come and stand(U) before me in this house,(V) which bears my Name, and say, “We are safe”—safe to do all these detestable things?(W) 11 Has this house,(X) which bears my Name, become a den of robbers(Y) to you? But I have been watching!(Z) declares the Lord.

12 “‘Go now to the place in Shiloh(AA) where I first made a dwelling(AB) for my Name,(AC) and see what I did(AD) to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel. 13 While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke(AE) to you again and again,(AF) but you did not listen;(AG) I called(AH) you, but you did not answer.(AI) 14 Therefore, what I did to Shiloh(AJ) I will now do to the house that bears my Name,(AK) the temple(AL) you trust in, the place I gave to you and your ancestors. 15 I will thrust you from my presence,(AM) just as I did all your fellow Israelites, the people of Ephraim.’(AN)

16 “So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea(AO) or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen(AP) to you. 17 Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18 The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes to offer to the Queen of Heaven.(AQ) They pour out drink offerings(AR) to other gods to arouse(AS) my anger. 19 But am I the one they are provoking?(AT) declares the Lord. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?(AU)

20 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign(AV) Lord says: My anger(AW) and my wrath will be poured(AX) out on this place—on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the crops of your land—and it will burn and not be quenched.(AY)

21 “‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices(AZ) and eat(BA) the meat yourselves! 22 For when I brought your ancestors out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands(BB) about burnt offerings and sacrifices,(BC) 23 but I gave them this command:(BD) Obey(BE) me, and I will be your God and you will be my people.(BF) Walk in obedience to all(BG) I command you, that it may go well(BH) with you. 24 But they did not listen(BI) or pay attention;(BJ) instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts.(BK) They went backward(BL) and not forward. 25 From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again(BM) I sent you my servants(BN) the prophets.(BO) 26 But they did not listen to me or pay attention.(BP) They were stiff-necked(BQ) and did more evil than their ancestors.’(BR)

27 “When you tell(BS) them all this, they will not listen(BT) to you; when you call to them, they will not answer.(BU) 28 Therefore say to them, ‘This is the nation that has not obeyed the Lord its God or responded to correction.(BV) Truth(BW) has perished; it has vanished from their lips.

29 “‘Cut off(BX) your hair and throw it away; take up a lament(BY) on the barren heights, for the Lord has rejected and abandoned(BZ) this generation that is under his wrath.

The Valley of Slaughter

30 “‘The people of Judah have done evil(CA) in my eyes, declares the Lord. They have set up their detestable idols(CB) in the house that bears my Name and have defiled(CC) it. 31 They have built the high places of Topheth(CD) in the Valley of Ben Hinnom(CE) to burn their sons and daughters(CF) in the fire—something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.(CG) 32 So beware, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when people will no longer call it Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter,(CH) for they will bury(CI) the dead in Topheth until there is no more room. 33 Then the carcasses(CJ) of this people will become food(CK) for the birds and the wild animals, and there will be no one to frighten them away.(CL) 34 I will bring an end to the sounds(CM) of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom(CN) in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem,(CO) for the land will become desolate.(CP)

7 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

3 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

4 Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, are these.

5 For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;

6 If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:

7 Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.

8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.

9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;

10 And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?

11 Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the Lord.

12 But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.

13 And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the Lord, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not;

14 Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

15 And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.

16 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.

17 Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the Lord: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?

20 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

21 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.

22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

25 Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:

26 Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.

27 Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.

28 But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the Lord their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

29 Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the Lord hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

30 For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the Lord: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.

31 And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.

32 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place.

33 And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall fray them away.

34 Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.
