3 Он сказал мне:
– Смертный, съешь же то, что перед тобой, съешь этот свиток, а потом ступай и говори с народом Исраила.
2 Я открыл рот, и Он дал мне съесть свиток.
3 Он сказал мне:
– Смертный, съешь свиток, который Я даю тебе, и наполни им своё чрево.
Я съел его, и у меня во рту он был сладким, как мёд.
4 Он сказал мне:
– Смертный, ступай теперь к исраильтянам и говори им Мои слова. 5 Ты отправляешься не к народу с невнятной речью и непонятным языком, а к народу Исраила, 6 не к многочисленным народам с их невнятной речью и непонятным языком, чьи слова для тебя темны. Если бы Я послал тебя к ним, они бы, конечно, тебя послушали. 7 Но исраильтяне не хотят слушать тебя, потому что они не хотят слушать Меня, ведь весь народ Исраила упрям и непокорен. 8 Но Я сделаю тебя таким же неподатливым и твердолобым, как они сами. 9 Я сделаю твой лоб подобным самому твёрдому камню, твёрже кремня. Не бойся, не страшись их, хотя они и мятежный народ.
10 Он сказал мне:
– Смертный, слушай внимательно и запомни все слова, что Я тебе говорю. 11 Ступай теперь к пленным землякам и поговори с ними. Говори им: «Так говорит Владыка Вечный», независимо от того, станут они слушать, или откажутся.
12 После этого Дух поднял меня, и я услышал позади себя оглушительный, грохочущий голос: «Благословенна слава Вечного в этом месте». 13 И был шум от крыльев живых существ, касавшихся друг друга, и стук от колёс возле них, похожий на оглушительный грохот. 14 Дух поднял меня и унёс прочь. Я шёл огорчённый, и дух мой негодовал, но рука Вечного крепко лежала на мне. 15 Я пришёл к пленникам, которые жили в Тель-Авиве[a] у реки Кевара, потрясённый, остановился у них и оставался там семь дней.
Предостережение Исраила
16 По истечении семи дней ко мне было слово Вечного:
17 – Смертный, Я сделал тебя стражем для народа Исраила. Слушай же слово, которое Я говорю, и предостереги его от Моего имени. 18 Если Я скажу нечестивому: «Ты непременно умрёшь», а ты не станешь его предостерегать и отговаривать от злого пути, чтобы спасти его жизнь, то нечестивый умрёт за свой грех[b], а Я спрошу с тебя за его кровь. 19 Но если ты будешь предостерегать нечестивого, а он не оставит ни своего нечестия, ни своего злого пути, то он умрёт за свой грех, а ты спасёшь свою жизнь. 20 И если праведник отвернётся от праведности и совершит зло, Я положу перед ним преткновение, и он умрёт. Так как ты не предостерегал его, он умрёт за свой грех. Добрые дела, которые он совершил, не вспомнятся, и Я спрошу с тебя за его кровь. 21 Но если ты будешь предостерегать праведника, чтобы он не грешил, и праведник не будет грешить, то он, несомненно, будет жить, потому что внял предостережениям, а ты спасёшь свою жизнь.
22 Там рука Вечного была на мне, и Он сказал мне:
– Встань и выйди на равнину; там Я буду говорить с тобой.
23 Я встал и вышел на равнину. Слава Вечного стояла там, подобная славе, которую я видел у реки Кевара, и я пал лицом на землю. 24 Дух вошёл в меня и поднял на ноги.
Он заговорил со мной и сказал:
– Ступай, запрись у себя дома. 25 Что до тебя, смертный, то тебя свяжут верёвками; тебя так скрутят, что ты не сможешь выходить к народу. 26 Я сделаю так, что твой язык прилипнет к нёбу, ты будешь молчать и не сможешь обличать их, хотя они и мятежный народ. 27 Но когда Я буду говорить тебе, Я буду открывать тебе рот, и ты будешь говорить им: «Так говорит Владыка Вечный». Кто станет слушать, пусть слушает, а кто откажется, пусть отказывается; ведь это мятежный народ.

The Responsibility of the Prophet
3 Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; (A)eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll.
3 And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I (B)ate, and it was in my mouth (C)like honey in sweetness.
4 Then He said to me: “Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them. 5 For you are not sent to a people of unfamiliar speech and of hard language, but to the house of Israel, 6 not to many people of unfamiliar speech and of hard language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely, (D)had I sent you to them, they would have listened to you. 7 But the house of Israel will not listen to you, (E)because they will not listen to Me; (F)for all the house of Israel are [a]impudent and hard-hearted. 8 Behold, I have made your face strong against their faces, and your forehead strong against their foreheads. 9 (G)Like adamant stone, harder than flint, I have made your forehead; (H)do not be afraid of them, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.”
10 Moreover He said to me: “Son of man, receive into your heart all My words that I speak to you, and hear with your ears. 11 And go, get to the captives, to the children of your people, and speak to them and tell them, (I)‘Thus says the Lord God,’ whether they hear, or whether they refuse.”
12 Then (J)the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a great thunderous voice: “Blessed is the (K)glory of the Lord from His place!” 13 I also heard the (L)noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels beside them, and a great thunderous noise. 14 So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the [b]heat of my spirit; but (M)the hand of the Lord was strong upon me. 15 Then I came to the captives at Tel Abib, who dwelt by the River Chebar; and (N)I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.
Ezekiel Is a Watchman
16 Now it (O)came to pass at the end of seven days that the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 17 (P)“Son of man, I have made you (Q)a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them (R)warning from Me: 18 When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man (S)shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. 19 Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; (T)but you have delivered your soul.
20 “Again, when a (U)righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. 21 Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul.”
22 (V)Then the hand of the Lord was upon me there, and He said to me, “Arise, go out (W)into the plain, and there I shall talk with you.”
23 So I arose and went out into the plain, and behold, (X)the glory of the Lord stood there, like the glory which I (Y)saw by the River Chebar; (Z)and I fell on my face. 24 Then (AA)the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet, and spoke with me and said to me: “Go, shut yourself inside your house. 25 And you, O son of man, surely (AB)they will put ropes on you and bind you with them, so that you cannot go out among them. 26 (AC)I will make your tongue cling to the roof of your mouth, so that you shall be mute and (AD)not be [c]one to rebuke them, (AE)for they are a rebellious house. 27 (AF)But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, (AG)‘Thus says the Lord God.’ He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses, let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.

3 A voz me disse: “Filho do homem, coma o que lhe dou. Coma este rolo! Depois, vá e fale ao povo de Israel”. 2 Então abri a boca, e ele me deu o rolo para eu comer. 3 “Filho do homem, encha seu estômago com ele”, disse a voz. Quando comi, o sabor era doce como mel em minha boca.
4 Em seguida, ele disse: “Filho do homem, vá ao povo de Israel e transmita-lhe minhas mensagens. 5 Não o envio a um povo estrangeiro, cuja língua você não entende, mas ao povo de Israel. 6 Não, eu não o envio a um povo de língua estrangeira e difícil. Se o fizesse, eles lhe dariam ouvidos! 7 O povo de Israel, porém, não lhe dará ouvidos, assim como não deu ouvidos a mim. Pois todos eles têm o coração duro e são teimosos. 8 Mas eu tornei você tão obstinado e inflexível quanto eles. 9 Endureci sua testa como a pedra mais dura. Portanto, não tenha medo deles nem tema seus olhares raivosos, pois são um povo rebelde”.
10 Então ele acrescentou: “Filho do homem, primeiro deixe que minhas palavras entrem até o fundo de seu coração. Ouça-as com atenção. 11 Depois, vá a seu povo no exílio e diga-lhes: ‘Assim diz o Senhor Soberano!’. Faça isso quer eles ouçam quer não”.
12 Em seguida, o Espírito me pôs em pé, e eu ouvi uma estrondosa proclamação atrás de mim. (Que a glória do Senhor seja louvada em sua habitação!)[a] 13 Era o som das asas dos seres vivos que tocavam umas nas outras e o barulho das rodas debaixo deles.
14 O Espírito me levantou e me tirou de lá. Saí amargurado e agitado, mas a mão do Senhor era forte sobre mim. 15 Cheguei à colônia dos exilados judeus em Tel-Abibe, junto ao rio Quebar. Estava atônito e permaneci no meio deles durante sete dias.
Um vigia para Israel
16 Depois de sete dias, o Senhor me deu uma mensagem: 17 “Filho do homem, eu o nomeei vigia de Israel. Sempre que receber uma mensagem minha, advirta o povo. 18 Se eu avisar os perversos: ‘Vocês estão condenados à morte’, mas você não lhes transmitir a advertência, para que mudem sua conduta perversa e salvem a vida, eles morrerão em seus pecados. E eu o considerarei responsável pela morte deles. 19 Se você os advertir, mas eles não quiserem se arrepender e continuarem a pecar, eles morrerão em seus pecados. Você, porém, salvará sua vida.
20 “Se os justos se desviarem de sua conduta justa e não prestarem atenção aos obstáculos que eu puser em seu caminho, eles morrerão. E, se você não os advertir, eles morrerão em seus pecados. Nenhum dos atos de justiça deles será lembrado, e eu o considerarei responsável pela morte deles. 21 Mas, se você advertir os justos a não pecarem e eles lhe derem ouvidos e não pecarem, eles viverão. E você também salvará sua vida”.
22 A mão do Senhor veio sobre mim, e ele disse: “Levante-se e vá até o vale, e eu lhe falarei ali”. 23 Levantei-me, fui até o vale e ali vi a glória do Senhor, como na primeira visão junto ao rio Quebar, e prostrei-me com o rosto no chão.
24 Então o Espírito entrou em mim e me pôs em pé. “Vá para sua casa e tranque-se dentro dela”, disse ele. 25 “Ali, filho do homem, você será amarrado com cordas e não poderá sair para o meio do povo. 26 Farei sua língua se prender ao céu da boca, para que fique mudo e não possa repreendê-los, pois são rebeldes. 27 Mas, quando eu lhe der uma mensagem, desprenderei sua língua e deixarei que fale. Então você lhes dirá: ‘Assim diz o Senhor Soberano!’. Quem escolher ouvir, ouvirá, mas quem se recusar, não ouvirá, pois são um povo rebelde.”
