Пророчество о Египте
29 В десятом году, в двенадцатый день десятого месяца (7 января 587 г. до н. э.), было ко мне слово Вечного:
2 – Смертный, обрати лицо к фараону, царю Египта, и пророчествуй против него и против всего Египта. 3 Говори с ним и скажи: Так говорит Владыка Вечный:
«Я твой враг, фараон, царь Египта,
чудовищный крокодил, что в реках своих разлёгся.
„Нил мой, – говоришь ты, –
я создал его для себя“.
4 Я продену крюк в твои челюсти,
и рыбу из рек твоих приклею к твоей чешуе.
Я вытащу тебя из твоих рек
с рыбой, прилипшей к твоей чешуе.
5 Я брошу тебя в пустыню,
тебя и рыбу из твоих рек.
Ты упадёшь в открытом поле –
не подберут тебя, не поднимут.
Я отдам тебя в пищу
земному зверью и небесным птицам.
6 Тогда все жители Египта узнают, что Я – Вечный.
Ты был посохом из тростника для народа Исраила. 7 Когда они брались за тебя, ты расщеплялся и ранил им руки; когда они опирались на тебя, ты ломался, и их ноги теряли устойчивость».
8 Поэтому так говорит Владыка Вечный: «Я наведу на тебя меч и истреблю твоих жителей и их скот. 9 Египет станет безлюдной пустыней. Тогда они узнают, что Я – Вечный. За то, что ты сказал: „Нил – мой; это я его создал“, 10 Я – твой враг и враг твоих рек. Я превращу землю Египта в мёртвую пустыню от Мигдола на севере до Сиены[a] на юге, до самой границы с Эфиопией. 11 Не будет ступать по ней ни нога человека, ни нога животного; она будет необитаемой сорок лет. 12 Я сделаю землю Египта пустыней среди опустошённых земель, и её города будут безлюдными среди опустевших городов сорок лет. Я рассею египтян между другими народами и развею их по чужим землям».
13 Ведь так говорит Владыка Вечный: «По прошествии сорока лет Я соберу египтян из народов, среди которых они были рассеяны. 14 Я восстановлю и возвращу их в Верхний Египет[b], землю их предков. Они будут там слабым царством, 15 самым слабым из царств, и никогда впредь не возвысятся над другими народами. Я так ослаблю их, что они впредь не смогут править народами. 16 Египет больше не будет опорой для Исраила; он будет напоминанием людям о грехе, который они совершили, обращаясь к нему за помощью. Тогда они узнают, что Я – Владыка Вечный».

17 В двадцать седьмом году, в первый день первого месяца (26 апреля 571 г. до н. э.), было ко мне слово Вечного:
18 – Смертный, Навуходоносор, царь Вавилона, заставил своё войско немало потрудиться под Тиром: все головы оплешивели, все плечи натёрты от непосильного труда. Но ни он, ни его войско ничего не получили от Тира в уплату за труды.
19 Поэтому так говорит Владыка Вечный:
– Я отдам Навуходоносору, царю Вавилона, землю Египта, и он захватит её богатства. Он оберёт и разграбит её, чтобы заплатить войску. 20 Я отдаю ему Египет в награду за труды, потому что он и его войско трудились для Меня, – возвещает Владыка Вечный.
21 В тот день Я сделаю Исраил сильным[c] и дам тебе что им сказать, и узнают, что Я – Вечный.

Prophecy Against Egypt
29 (A)In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: 2 (B)“Son of man, (C)set your face against (D)Pharaoh king of Egypt, (E)and prophesy against him and (F)against all Egypt; 3 speak, and say, Thus says the Lord God:
(G)“Behold, I am against you,
Pharaoh king of Egypt,
(H)the great dragon that lies
in the midst of his streams,
(I)that says, ‘My Nile is my own;
I made it for myself.’
4 I will (J)put hooks in your jaws,
and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales;
and I will draw you up out of the midst of your streams,
with all the fish of your streams
that stick to your scales.
5 (K)And I will cast you out into the wilderness,
you and all the fish of your streams;
you shall fall (L)on the open field,
and (M)not be brought together or gathered.
To the beasts of the earth and to the birds of the heavens
(N)I give you as food.
6 Then all the inhabitants of Egypt (O)shall know that I am the Lord.
“Because you[a] have been (P)a staff of reed to the house of Israel, 7 (Q)when they grasped you with the hand, you broke and tore all their shoulders; and when they leaned on you, you broke and made all their loins to shake.[b] 8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: (R)Behold, I will bring a sword upon you, and will cut off from you man and beast, 9 and the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste. (S)Then they will know that I am the Lord.
(T)“Because you[c] said, ‘The Nile is mine, and I made it,’ 10 therefore, (U)behold, I am against you and (V)against your streams, and (W)I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, (X)from Migdol to Syene, as far as the border of Cush. 11 (Y)No foot of man shall pass through it, and no foot of beast shall pass through it; it shall be uninhabited forty years. 12 (Z)And I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of desolated countries, and her cities shall be a desolation forty years among cities that are laid waste. (AA)I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them through the countries.
13 “For thus says the Lord God: At the end of forty years (AB)I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they were scattered, 14 and (AC)I will restore the fortunes of Egypt and bring them back to (AD)the land of Pathros, the land of their origin, and there they shall be a lowly kingdom. 15 It shall be the most lowly of the kingdoms, (AE)and never again exalt itself above the nations. And I will make them so small that they will never again rule over the nations. 16 And it shall never again be (AF)the reliance of the house of Israel, recalling their iniquity, when they turn to them for aid. (AG)Then they will know that I am the Lord God.”
17 (AH)In the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: 18 (AI)“Son of man, (AJ)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made his army labor hard against Tyre. Every head was made bald, and every shoulder was rubbed bare, yet neither he nor his army got anything from Tyre to pay for the labor that he had performed against her. 19 Therefore thus says the Lord God: (AK)Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; (AL)and he shall carry off its wealth[d] (AM)and despoil it and plunder it; and it shall be the wages for his army. 20 (AN)I have given him the land of Egypt as his payment for which he labored, because they worked for me, declares the Lord God.
21 “On that day (AO)I will cause a horn to spring up for the house of Israel, and (AP)I will open your lips among them. (AQ)Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

Proclamation Against Egypt
29 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, (A)set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him, and (B)against all Egypt. 3 Speak, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God:
(C)“Behold, I am against you,
O Pharaoh king of Egypt,
O great (D)monster who lies in the midst of his rivers,
(E)Who has said, ‘My [a]River is my own;
I have made it for myself.’
4 But (F)I will put hooks in your jaws,
And cause the fish of your rivers to stick to your scales;
I will bring you up out of the midst of your rivers,
And all the fish in your rivers will stick to your scales.
5 I will leave you in the wilderness,
You and all the fish of your rivers;
You shall fall on the [b]open (G)field;
(H)You shall not be picked up or [c]gathered.
(I)I have given you as food
To the beasts of the field
And to the birds of the heavens.
6 “Then all the inhabitants of Egypt
Shall know that I am the Lord,
Because they have been a (J)staff of reed to the house of Israel.
7 (K)When they took hold of you with the hand,
You broke and tore all their [d]shoulders;
When they leaned on you,
You broke and made all their backs quiver.”
8 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Surely I will bring (L)a sword upon you and cut off from you man and beast. 9 And the land of Egypt shall become (M)desolate and waste; then they will know that I am the Lord, because he said, ‘The River is mine, and I have made it.’ 10 Indeed, therefore, I am against you and against your rivers, (N)and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, (O)from [e]Migdol to Syene, as far as the border of Ethiopia. 11 (P)Neither foot of man shall pass through it nor foot of beast pass through it, and it shall be uninhabited forty years. 12 (Q)I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate; and among the cities that are laid waste, her cities shall be desolate forty years; and I will (R)scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them throughout the countries.”
13 ‘Yet, thus says the Lord God: “At the (S)end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they were scattered. 14 I will bring back the captives of Egypt and cause them to return to the land of Pathros, to the land of their origin, and there they shall be a (T)lowly kingdom. 15 It shall be the lowliest of kingdoms; it shall never again exalt itself above the nations, for I will diminish them so that they will not rule over the nations anymore. 16 No longer shall it be (U)the confidence of the house of Israel, but will remind them of their iniquity when they turned to follow them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord God.” ’ ”
Babylonia Will Plunder Egypt
17 And it came to pass in the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 18 “Son of man, (V)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to labor strenuously against Tyre; every head was made (W)bald, and every shoulder rubbed raw; yet neither he nor his army received wages from Tyre, for the labor which they expended on it. 19 Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Surely I will give the land of Egypt to (X)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; he shall take away her wealth, carry off her spoil, and remove her pillage; and that will be the wages for his army. 20 I have given him the land of Egypt for his labor, because they (Y)worked for Me,’ says the Lord God.
21 ‘In that day (Z)I will cause the [f]horn of the house of Israel to spring forth, and I will (AA)open your mouth to speak in their midst. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.’ ”

Profetia över Egypten
29 På tolfte dagen i tionde månaden i det tionde året kom detta budskap till mig från Herren:
2 Du människa, vänd dig mot Egyptens kung Farao och profetera mot honom och hans folk.
3 Tala om för dem vad Herren Gud säger: Jag är din fiende, Farao, kung i Egypten, du mäktige drake som vilar i dina floder. Du har sagt: 'Nilen är min. Jag har själv gjort den!'
4 Men jag ska sätta krokar i dina käftar och dra upp dig på land, och fisken i dina vatten ska fastna vid dina fjäll.
5 Jag ska lämna dig och alla dina medlöpare att dö i öknen, och ingen kommer att begrava er. Ni ska bli mat åt vilda djur och fåglar.
6 Alla ska förstå att jag är Herren därför att din makt tog slut, som den gjorde när Israel bad om din hjälp i stället för att lita på mig.
7 Ja, Israel litade på dig, men som en bruten stav vek du dig under dess hand, fick Israels axel att gå ur led och gav landet svåra plågor.
8 Därför säger Herren Gud: Jag ska samla en armé mot dig, Egypten, och utplåna både människor och djur.
9 Egypten ska bli ett öde land, och egyptierna ska förstå att detta är Herrens verk.
10 Därför att du sa: 'Nilen är min! Jag har gjort den!' är jag emot dig och din flod, och jag ska förgöra Egyptens land från Migdol till Sevene, ja, så långt söderut som till gränsen mot Etiopien.
11 Under fyrtio år ska ingen gå den vägen fram, varken människa eller djur, och ingen ska bosätta sig där.
12 Egypten ska ligga övergivet, omgivet av öde länder, och hennes städer kommer att vara tomma i fyrtio år. Egyptierna själva ska jag förvisa och sprida ut till andra länder.
13 Herren Gud säger: När de fyrtio åren har gått ska jag föra hem egyptierna igen från de länder till vilka de blivit förvisade.
14 Jag ska upprätta Egyptens välstånd och leda folket tillbaka till Patros land i södra Egypten som de en gång kom ifrån. Där kommer de att bli ett litet och obetydligt kungarike,
15 det minsta av alla länder. Aldrig mer kommer det att härska över andra folk.
16 Israel kan inte längre vänta någon hjälp från Egypten. När de än tänker be om det, ska de komma ihåg att detta är en synd. Då ska Israel förstå att jag ensam är Gud.
17 I det tjugosjunde året, på den första dagen i första månaden, kom detta budskap till mig från Herren:
18 Du människa, den babyloniske kungen Nebukadnessars armé kämpade tappert mot Tyrus. Soldaternas hår tunnades ut av stridshjälmarna, och deras muskler värkte av påfrestningarna. Ändå fick Nebukadnessar inget ut av sitt anfall mot Tyrus.
19 Därför, säger Herren Gud, kommer jag i stället att överlämna Egyptens land åt Nebukadnessar, kungen i Babylon, och han ska bära bort dess rikedomar och plundra det på allt för att ge lön åt sin armé.
20 Ja, jag har gett honom Egypten som lön, därför att han arbetade så hårt för mig vid Tyrus, säger Herren.
21 Och den dag ska komma när jag ska låta Israels tidigare härlighet återuppstå. Då, Hesekiel, ska jag öppna din mun igen, och alla ska förstå att jag är Herren.
