7 (A)(B)Когато Господ, твоят Бог, те въведе в страната, в която навлизаш, за да я завладееш, и прогони пред тебе много народи: хетейците, гергесейците, аморейците, ханаанците, ферезейците, евейците и йевусейците – седем народа, които са по-многобройни и по-силни от тебе, 2 (C)и когато Господ, твоят Бог, ти ги предаде и ти ги разбиеш, тогава трябва да ги унищожиш. Не влизай с тях в съюз и не ги щади! 3 (D)И не се сродявай с тях: дъщеря си не давай на сина му и дъщеря му не взимай за сина си. 4 (E)Защото те ще отвърнат сина ти от Мене, за да служи на други богове, и тогава гневът на Господа ще се разпали върху вас и Той скоро ще те изтреби. 5 (F)С тях постъпете така: жертвениците им разрушете, кумирите им изпотрошете, дървените им стълбове изсечете, изображенията на боговете им с огън изгорете, 6 защото ти си свят народ на Господа, твоя Бог. Тебе избра Господ, твоят Бог, за да Му бъдеш собствен народ измежду всички народи, които са на земята.
7 Не затова, че сте по-многобройни от всички народи, Господ ви прие и ви избра – та вие сте от всички народи най-малобройни, – 8 а защото Господ ви обича, и за да опази клетвата, с която се е клел на предците ви, затова Господ ви изведе със силна ръка и ви избави от дома на робството, от ръката на фараона, царя на Египет. 9 (G)(H)И така, знай, че Господ, твоят Бог, е Бог, Бог верен, Който пази до хиляда поколения завета и милостта Си към онези, които Го обичат и пазят заповедите Му. 10 (I)А на онези, които Го мразят, отвръща веднага, като ги погубва. 12 (J)(K)И ако слушате тези закони и ги спазвайте и изпълнявате, Господ, твоят Бог, ще спазва завета и милостта Си към тебе, за която се е клел на предците ти. 13 Той ще те обикне, ще те благослови и ще те направи народ многоброен; ще благослови плода на утробата ти и плода на земята ти, житото ти, виното ти, маслото ти, народеното от добитъка и от овцете ти, в страната, за която се е клел на предците ти да ти даде. 14 Благословен ще бъдеш повече от всички народи: няма да има ни безплоден, ни безплодна нито у тебе, нито сред добитъка ти. 15 (L)Господ ще те брани от всяка болест и няма да докара върху тебе египетските злини и напасти, които ти видя, а ще ги стовари върху всички онези, които те мразят. 16 Ти ще изтребиш всички народи, които Господ, твоят Бог, ти предава; нека окото ти не гледа жалостиво към тях. И не служи на боговете им, понеже това е примка за тебе.
17 Ако пък си помислиш: „Тези народи са по-многобройни от мене, как ще мога да ги прогоня?“ – 18 тогава не бива да се боиш от тях! Припомни си какво стори Господ, твоят Бог, на фараона и на всички египтяни, 19 големите изпитания, които видяха очите ти, знаменията и чудесата, силната ръка и издигнатата десница, с която Господ, твоят Бог, те изведе! Така ще стори Господ, твоят Бог, с всички народи, от които ти се боиш; 20 (M)и смут ще причини Господ, твоят Бог, сред тях, докато не изгинат останалите, които са се скрили от тебе. 21 Не изпитвай ужас от тях, защото Господ, твоят Бог, е сред тебе, Бог велик и страшен. 22 (N)И Господ, твоят Бог, малко по малко ще прогони тези народи пред тебе – не бива да ги изтребваш наведнъж, иначе дивите зверове около тебе ще се развъдят прекомерно. 23 Господ, твоят Бог, ще ти ги предаде и ще причини сред тях голям смут, докато бъдат изтребени. 24 Той ще предаде и царете им в твоите ръце и ти ще заличиш името им под небето. Никой няма да устои пред тебе, докато не ги изтребиш. 25 Кумирите на боговете им изгорете с огън! И не си пожелавай да туриш ръка на златото и среброто върху тях, за да не се превърнат в примка за тебе, понеже това е мерзост пред Господа, твоя Бог. 26 И не внасяй мерзост в дома си, за да не бъдеш обречен като нея на гибел. 7 (vii) “Adonai your God is going to bring you into the land you will enter in order to take possession of it, and he will expel many nations ahead of you — the Hitti, Girgashi, Emori, Kena‘ani, P’rizi, Hivi and Y’vusi, seven nations bigger and stronger than you. 2 When he does this, when Adonai your God hands them over ahead of you, and you defeat them, you are to destroy them completely! Do not make any covenant with them. Show them no mercy. 3 Don’t intermarry with them — don’t give your daughter to his son, and don’t take his daughter for your son. 4 For he will turn your children away from following me in order to serve other gods. If this happens, the anger of Adonai will flare up against you, and he will quickly destroy you. 5 No, treat them this way: break down their altars, smash their standing-stones to pieces, cut down their sacred poles and burn up their carved images completely. 6 For you are a people set apart as holy for Adonai your God. Adonai your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his own unique treasure. 7 Adonai didn’t set his heart on you or choose you because you numbered more than any other people — on the contrary, you were the fewest of all peoples. 8 Rather, it was because Adonai loved you, and because he wanted to keep the oath which he had sworn to your ancestors, that Adonai brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed you from a life of slavery under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. (Maftir) 9 From this you can know that Adonai your God is indeed God, the faithful God, who keeps his covenant and extends grace to those who love him and observe his mitzvot, to a thousand generations. 10 But he repays those who hate him to their face and destroys them. He will not be slow to deal with someone who hates him; he will repay him to his face. 11 Therefore, you are to keep the mitzvot, laws and rulings which I am giving you today, and obey them.

12 “Because you are listening to these rulings, keeping and obeying them, Adonai your God will keep with you the covenant and mercy that he swore to your ancestors. 13 He will love you, bless you and increase your numbers; he will also bless the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground — your grain, wine, olive oil and the young of your cattle and sheep — in the land he swore to your ancestors that he would give you. 14 You will be blessed more than all other peoples; there will not be a sterile male or female among you, and the same with your livestock. 15 Adonai will remove all illness from you — he will not afflict you with any of Egypt’s dreadful diseases, which you have known; instead, he will lay them on those who hate you. 16 You are to devour all the peoples that Adonai your God hands over to you — show them no pity, and do not serve their gods, because that will become a trap for you. 17 If you think to yourselves, ‘These nations outnumber us; how can we dispossess them?’ 18 nevertheless, you are not to be afraid of them; you are to remember well what Adonai your God did to Pharaoh and all of Egypt — 19 the great ordeals which you yourself saw, and the signs, wonders, strong hand and outstretched arm by which Adonai your God brought you out. Adonai will do the same to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. 20 Moreover, Adonai your God will send the hornet among them until those who are left and those who hide themselves perish ahead of you. 21 You are not to be frightened of them, because Adonai your God is there with you, a God great and fearsome. 22 Adonai your God will expel those nations ahead of you little by little; you can’t put an end to them all at once, or the wild animals will become too numerous for you. 23 Nevertheless, Adonai your God will give them over to you, sending one disaster after another upon them until they have been destroyed. 24 He will hand their kings over to you, and you will wipe out their name from under heaven; none of them will be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them. 25 You are to burn up completely the carved statues of their gods. Don’t be greedy for the silver or gold on them; don’t take it with you, or you will be trapped by it; for it is abhorrent to Adonai your God. 26 Don’t bring something abhorrent into your house, or you will share in the curse that is on it; instead, you are to detest it completely, loathe it utterly; for it is set apart for destruction.

7 When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
2 And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
8 But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
15 And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
16 And thou shalt consume all the people which the Lord thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.
17 If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?
18 Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the Lord thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;
19 The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the Lord thy God brought thee out: so shall the Lord thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.
20 Moreover the Lord thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.
21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the Lord thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.
22 And the Lord thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
23 But the Lord thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.
24 And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.
25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therin: for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.
26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
