6 «Вот каким заповедям, законам и предписаниям повелел мне научить вас Господь, ваш Бог. Соблюдайте их на той земле, которую вы готовы принять в своё владение. 2 И вы, и потомки ваши почитайте Господа, Бога вашего, всю свою жизнь, соблюдайте все Его законы и заповеди, которые я вам передаю, чтобы ваша жизнь на новой земле была долгой. 3 Израильтяне, слушайте внимательно эти законы и исполняйте их, и будет у вас всё хорошо. Ваши дети будут многочисленны, а ваша земля переполнится всеми благами[a], как и обещал вам Господь, Бог предков ваших.
4 Слушай, народ Израиля! Господь—Бог наш, Господь—един! 5 Люби Господа всем сердцем своим, всей душой своей и всей силой своей 6 и всегда помни заповеди, которые я сегодня даю тебе! 7 Постоянно учи им своих детей и говори об этих законах, и находясь у себя дома, и когда идёшь по дороге, и когда ложишься, и когда встаёшь. 8 Привяжи их в напоминание на руку и носи их на лбу, 9 запиши на косяке двери своего дома и на воротах.
10 Господь, Бог твой, дал обещание твоим предкам, Аврааму, Исааку и Иакову, что отдаст тебе эту землю и великие, богатые города, которые ты не строил. 11 Господь даст тебе дома, полные добра, собранного не тобой, даст тебе колодцы, которые не ты вырыл, даст тебе виноградники и оливковые деревья, которые не ты посадил, и будет у тебя вдоволь еды.
12 Но смотри, не забывай Господа! Вы были рабами в Египте, но Господь вывел вас из Египетской земли, 13 так почитайте Господа, Бога вашего, служите только Ему и только Его именем клянитесь. 14 Не следуйте никаким другим богам, не следуйте богам народов, живущих вокруг вас. 15 Господь, Бог ваш, всегда с вами. Он не терпит, чтобы Его народ поклонялся другим богам![b] И поэтому, если вы обратитесь к другим богам, то Господь разгневается и сотрёт вас с лица земли.
16 Не искушайте Господа, Бога вашего, как искушали Его в Массе, 17 исполняйте все наставления и законы, которые Он дал вам. 18 Поступайте хорошо и правильно, так, как угодно Господу. Тогда всё у вас будет хорошо, и вы сможете пойти и завладеть благодатной землёй, которую Господь обещал вашим предкам, 19 и изгоните всех врагов ваших, как и сказал Господь.

20 И если в будущем твои дети спросят тебя: „Что означают те учения, законы и предписания, которые Бог дал вам?”— 21 то дай им такой ответ: „Мы были рабами фараона в Египте, но Господь Своей великой силой вывел нас из Египта. 22 Господь свершил великие и удивительные дела, мы видели, что Он сделал с египетским народом, с фараоном и со всеми его придворными. 23 Господь вывел нас из Египта, чтобы дать нам землю, обещанную нашим предкам, 24 и повелел нам следовать всем этим наставлениям. 6 Вот повеления, установления и законы, которые Господь, ваш Бог, велел мне научить вас соблюдать в земле, куда вы вступаете, чтобы овладеть ею, 2 – чтобы вы, ваши дети и дети ваших детей боялись Господа, вашего Бога, пока живы, соблюдали все Его установления и повеления, которые я даю вам, и чтобы ваша жизнь была долгой. 3 Слушай, Израиль, и старайся повиноваться, чтобы у тебя все было благополучно, и умножится твой народ в земле, где течет молоко и мед, – как и обещал вам Господь, Бог ваших отцов.
4 Слушай, Израиль! Господь наш Бог, – единый Господь[a]. 5 Люби Господа, Бога твоего, всем сердцем твоим, всей душой твоей и всеми силами твоими. 6 Эти повеления, которые я даю тебе сегодня, должны быть у тебя в сердце. 7 Внушай их своим детям. 13 Бойся Господа, твоего Бога, служи Ему одному и клянись Его именем. 14 Не следуйте другим богам, богам окружающих вас народов; 15 ведь Господь, твой Бог, Который с тобой, – ревнивый Бог, Его гнев вспыхнет против тебя, и Он истребит тебя с лица земли. 16 Не испытывайте Господа, вашего Бога, как вы делали в Массе[c]. 17 Неуклонно соблюдайте повеления Господа, вашего Бога, Его заповеди и установления, которые Он дал вам. 18 Делай то, что правильно и хорошо в глазах Господа, чтобы у тебя все было благополучно, и ты вошел и завладел благодатной землей, которую Господь клятвенно обещал твоим отцам. 19 Он прогонит всех твоих врагов перед собой, как и говорил.

Love the Lord your God!
6 These are the commands, rules and laws that the Lord your God gave to me. He told me to teach them to you. You must obey them when you go across the Jordan River to live in that land. 2 You must respect the Lord your God with fear. You must obey his rules and his commands that I am teaching you. You, your children and your grandchildren must obey them all through your lives. If you do that, you will enjoy a long life.
3 Listen, Israelites! Be careful to obey God's rules. If you do that, everything will be well for you. You will have many children. You will live in a land where there is plenty of food and drink, enough for everyone. The Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised that this will happen.
4 Listen, Israelites! The Lord alone is our God. There is no other true God. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your mind and with all your strength. Love him with all that you are. 6 Always think about these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Teach them to your children at all times. Talk about them when you sit together at home. Talk about them as you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as signs on your arms and on your heads, so that you remember them. 9 Write them on the wood beside the doors of your houses and on your gates.
10 The Lord your God will soon bring you into a land that has large, beautiful cities that you did not build. That is the land that he promised to give to your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. 11 It has houses that are full of good things that you did not put into them. There are wells of water that you did not dig. There are fields with grapes and olive trees that you did not plant. You will be able to eat as much as you want. 12 But be careful that you do not forget the Lord. He rescued you from Egypt, where you were slaves.
13 You must respect and obey the Lord your God. Serve only him. If you make a serious promise, only use his name to make it strong. 14 Do not try to serve other gods. They are the gods that the people who live around you worship. 15 The Lord your God lives among you. He wants you to belong to him alone. If you worship other gods, he will be very angry with you. He will completely destroy you from the whole earth.
16 Do not test the Lord your God, to see what he will do. That is what you did at Massah. 17 Be careful to obey his commands. Remember the laws and the rules that he has told you to obey. 18 Do things that the Lord says are right and good. If you do that, you will be happy in everything that you do. You will go into the good land that he promised to your ancestors, and that will be your home. 19 You will be able to chase out all your enemies, as the Lord has promised.
20 One day, your children may say to you, ‘Please tell us about the rules and laws that the Lord our God commanded us to obey.’
21 Then you must tell them, ‘We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt. But the Lord used his great power to rescue us. 22 We saw him do great and powerful miracles that brought trouble to the Egyptians, and to Pharaoh himself and his family. 23 The Lord rescued us from Egypt so that he could give us another land to live in. That is the land that he promised to our ancestors. 24 The Lord commanded us to obey all these rules and to respect him with fear. If we do that, we will always live happily and the Lord will keep us safe, as he has done until now. 25 We must be careful to obey all the commands of the Lord our God. If we do what he has told us, he will be pleased with us as people who do what is right.’

6 These are the commands, decrees and laws the Lord your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, 2 so that you, your children and their children after them may fear(A) the Lord your God as long as you live(B) by keeping all his decrees and commands(C) that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.(D) 3 Hear, Israel, and be careful to obey(E) so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly(F) in a land flowing with milk and honey,(G) just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised(H) you.
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a](I) 5 Love(J) the Lord your God with all your heart(K) and with all your soul and with all your strength.(L) 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.(M) 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.(N) 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.(O) 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.(P)
10 When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build,(Q) 11 houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig,(R) and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied,(S) 12 be careful that you do not forget(T) the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
13 Fear the Lord(U) your God, serve him only(V) and take your oaths(W) in his name.(X) 14 Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you; 15 for the Lord your God(Y), who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land. 16 Do not put the Lord your God to the test(Z) as you did at Massah. 17 Be sure to keep(AA) the commands of the Lord your God and the stipulations and decrees he has given you.(AB) 18 Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight,(AC) so that it may go well(AD) with you and you may go in and take over the good land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors, 19 thrusting out all your enemies(AE) before you, as the Lord said.
20 In the future, when your son asks you,(AF) “What is the meaning of the stipulations, decrees and laws the Lord our God has commanded you?” 21 tell him: “We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.(AG) 22 Before our eyes the Lord sent signs and wonders—great and terrible—on Egypt and Pharaoh and his whole household. 23 But he brought us out from there to bring us in and give us the land he promised on oath to our ancestors. 24 The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God,(AH) so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today.(AI) 25 And if we are careful to obey all this law(AJ) before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.(AK)”
