Благословения за послушание(A)
28 Если ты будешь полностью послушен Вечному, твоему Богу, и будешь прилежно исполнять все Его повеления, которые я даю тебе сегодня, то Вечный, твой Бог, поставит тебя выше всех народов на земле. 2 Все эти благословения ты получишь, если будешь слушаться Вечного, твоего Бога.
3 Ты будешь благословен в городе и благословен в селении[a].
4 Благословен будешь ты множеством детей, земля твоя принесёт обильный урожай, а стада твои и отары – большой приплод: телят и ягнят.
5 Твоя корзина и твоя квашня никогда не будут пусты.
6 Ты будешь благословен, когда будешь входить и когда будешь выходить.
7 Вечный сделает так, что враги, которые поднимутся против тебя, будут разбиты перед тобой. Они пойдут на тебя по одной дороге, но побегут от тебя по семи.
8 Вечный наполнит твои амбары и благословит всё, что ты будешь делать своими руками. Вечный, твой Бог, благословит тебя на земле, которую Он даёт тебе.
9 Вечный поставит тебя Своим святым народом, как Он клялся тебе, если ты будешь исполнять повеления Вечного, твоего Бога, и ходить Его путями. 10 Тогда все народы на земле увидят, что над тобой провозглашено имя Вечного, и будут бояться тебя. 11 Вечный даст тебе изобилие во всём – в твоих детях, приплоде скота и урожаях земли – на земле, которую Он клялся твоим предкам дать тебе.
12 Вечный откроет тебе небеса, свою богатую сокровищницу, чтобы посылать дождь в срок на твою землю и благословлять всякое дело твоих рук. Ты будешь давать взаймы многим народам, а занимать не будешь ни у кого. 13 Вечный сделает тебя головой, а не хвостом. Если ты будешь внимателен к повелениям Вечного, твоего Бога, которые я даю тебе сегодня, и будешь прилежно исполнять их, то ты всегда будешь наверху, а не внизу. 14 Не уклоняйся ни от одного из повелений, которые я даю тебе сегодня, ни вправо, ни влево, не следуй за другими богами и не служи им.

15 Но если ты не будешь послушен Вечному, твоему Богу, и не будешь прилежно исполнять все Его повеления и установления, которые я даю тебе сегодня, все эти проклятия придут на тебя и будут с тобой.
16 Ты будешь проклят в городе и проклят в селении.
17 Твоя корзина и твоя квашня всегда будут пусты.
18 Дети твои будут немногочисленны, твоя земля будет давать скудный урожай, а стада твои и отары принесут мало приплода: телят и ягнят.
19 Ты будешь проклят, когда будешь входить и когда будешь выходить.
20 Вечный будет посылать на тебя проклятие, смятение и неудачу во всех делах твоих рук, пока ты не будешь истреблён и не придёшь к быстрой погибели из-за того зла, которое ты сделал, оставив Меня. 21 Вечный будет насылать на тебя мор за мором, пока не истребит тебя с земли, в которую ты вступаешь, чтобы завладеть ею. 22 Вечный нашлёт на тебя чахотку, лихорадку и воспаление, жару и засуху, знойный ветер и плесень, которые будут преследовать тебя, пока ты не погибнешь. 23 Небо над твоей головой станет медью, земля под тобой – железом.[b] 24 Вечный даст твоей стране пыль вместо дождя, и только прах будет падать на тебя с небес, пока ты не погибнешь.
25 Вечный сделает так, что ты будешь разбит врагами. Ты пойдёшь на них по одной дороге, а побежишь от них по семи и станешь отвратителен всем царствам на земле. 26 Твои трупы будут пищей всем небесным птицам и земным зверям, и некому будет отпугнуть их. 27 Вечный нашлёт на тебя нарывы и опухоли Египта[c], гноящиеся язвы и чесотку, от которых ты не сможешь исцелиться. 28 Вечный поразит тебя безумием, слепотой и помрачением ума. 29 В полдень ты будешь бродить на ощупь, как слепец во тьме. Ты будешь неудачлив во всём, что будешь делать; изо дня в день тебя будут притеснять и грабить, и не будет у тебя защитника.
30 Ты обручишься с женщиной, но другой возьмёт её и будет спать с ней. Ты построишь дом, но не будешь в нём жить. Ты посадишь виноградник, но не успеешь собрать даже первый урожай. 31 Твоего вола заколют у тебя на глазах, но ты не будешь есть его мясо. Твоего осла уведут у тебя силой и не вернут. Твои овцы достанутся врагам, и никто не спасёт их для тебя. 32 Твоих сыновей и дочерей отдадут другому народу, и ты истомишь свои глаза, разыскивая их изо дня в день, бессильный хоть что-нибудь сделать. 33 Народ, которого ты не знал, будет есть то, что ты произвёл своим трудом на своей земле, а тебя будут только жестоко притеснять всю твою жизнь. 34 Ты сойдёшь с ума от того, что увидишь. 35 Вечный поразит твои колени и голени болезненными неисцелимыми нарывами, которые распространятся от ступней твоих ног до самого темени.
36 Вечный уведёт тебя и царя, которого ты поставишь над собой, к народу неизвестному ни тебе, ни твоим предкам. Там ты будешь служить другим богам, богам из дерева и камня. 37 Тебя будут презирать и над тобой будут насмехаться, ты будешь отвратителен всем тем народам, к которым уведёт тебя Вечный.
38 Ты будешь сеять на поле много семян, но соберёшь бедный урожай, потому что его пожрёт саранча. 39 Ты будешь сажать виноградники и ухаживать за ними, но не пить тебе вина, не собирать плода, потому что виноград сожрут черви. 40 По всей стране будут расти маслины, но не видать тебе масла, потому что оливки осыплются. 41 У тебя будут сыновья и дочери, но ты не сохранишь их, потому что их уведут в плен. 42 Рои саранчи захватят твои деревья и урожаи твоей земли.
43 Живущий у тебя чужеземец будет подниматься над тобой всё выше и выше, а ты будешь опускаться всё ниже и ниже. 44 Он будет давать тебе взаймы, а ты не будешь давать ему взаймы. Он будет головой, а ты будешь хвостом.
45 Все эти проклятия падут на тебя. Они будут преследовать и настигать тебя, пока ты не погибнешь, потому что ты не слушался Вечного, твоего Бога, и не соблюдал повелений и установлений, которые Он дал тебе. 46 Эти бедствия будут свидетельством и знамением для тебя и твоего потомства вовеки. 47 Так как ты не служил Вечному, твоему Богу, с весельем и радостью во время изобилия, 48 то в голоде и жажде, в наготе и страшной нищете ты будешь служить врагам, которых Вечный пошлёт на тебя. Он наденет тебе на шею железное ярмо, пока не погубит тебя.
49 Вечный нашлёт на тебя народ издалека, с дальних концов земли, подобный налетающему орлу, народ, чьего языка ты не будешь понимать, 50 безжалостный народ, не уважающий старика и не щадящий юноши. 51 Он будет пожирать приплод твоего скота и урожаи твоей земли, пока не истребит тебя. Он не оставит тебе ни зерна, ни молодого вина, ни масла, ни телят твоего стада, ни ягнят твоей отары, пока не погубит тебя. 52 Он будет осаждать все твои города по всей земле, пока высокие, укреплённые стены, на которые ты полагаешься, не падут. Он будет осаждать все города по всей земле, которую Вечный, твой Бог, даёт тебе.
53 Из-за страданий, которые враги причинят тебе во время осады, ты будешь есть своих детей, плоть своих сыновей и дочерей, которых дал тебе Вечный, твой Бог. 54 Даже самый изнеженный и чувствительный из ваших людей не станет сострадать[d] собственному брату или любимой жене, или своим уцелевшим детям, 55 и не даст никому из них ничего из плоти своих детей, которых будет есть сам. Это всё, что у него останется. Вот какие страдания враг причинит тебе во время осады всех твоих городов. 56 Самая изнеженная и чувствительная из твоих женщин – такая изнеженная и чувствительная, что не привыкла ступать по земле – поскупится дать[e] любимому мужу и собственному сыну или дочери 57 послед из своего чрева и детей, которых родит. Ведь она захочет съесть их тайно во время осады и в бедствии, которое враг причинит тебе во всех твоих городах.
58 Если ты не будешь прилежно следовать всем словам Закона, который записан в этом свитке, и не будешь чтить славное и страшное имя Вечного, твоего Бога,[f] 59 то Вечный наведёт на тебя и на твоих потомков ужасные несчастья, жестокие и продолжительные бедствия и свирепые, затяжные болезни. 60 Он наведёт на тебя все недуги Египта, которых ты ужасался, и они пристанут к тебе. 61 Ещё Вечный наведёт на тебя такие болезни и беды, о которых не говорится в этом свитке Закона, пока ты не погибнешь. 62 Вас было много, как звёзд на небе, но останется мало, потому что вы не были послушны Вечному, вашему Богу. 63 Как Вечный радовался, делая вам добро и умножая ваше число, так Он будет радоваться, губя и истребляя вас. Вы будете искоренены из земли, куда вы вступаете, чтобы завладеть ею.
64 Тогда Вечный рассеет вас по всем народам, от одного конца земли до другого. Там вы будете служить другим богам – богам из дерева и камня, которых не знали ни вы, ни ваши предки. 65 Между теми народами вы не обретёте покоя, и не будет спокойного места, куда могла бы ступить ваша нога. Там Вечный заставит ваше сердце трепетать, истомит тоской ваши глаза и наполнит отчаянием вашу душу. 66 Вы будете жить в постоянной тревоге, полные ужаса и днём, и ночью, никогда не уверенные в своей жизни. 67 Утром вы скажете: «Ах, скорее бы вечер!» – а вечером: «О, скорее бы утро!» – от ужаса, который наполнит ваши сердца, и из-за того, что увидят ваши глаза. 68 Вечный возвратит вас на кораблях в Египет тем путём, о котором я говорил, что вы никогда не проделаете его вновь. Там вы будете предлагать себя на продажу как рабов и рабынь своим врагам, но никто вас не купит.

Blessings for Obedience
28 If you will only obey the Lord your God, by diligently observing all his commandments that I am commanding you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth; 2 all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the Lord your God:
3 Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb, the fruit of your ground, and the fruit of your livestock, both the increase of your cattle and the issue of your flock.
5 Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading-bowl.
6 Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.
7 The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you; they shall come out against you one way, and flee before you seven ways. 8 The Lord will command the blessing upon you in your barns, and in all that you undertake; he will bless you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. 9 The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in his ways. 10 All the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. 11 The Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground in the land that the Lord swore to your ancestors to give you. 12 The Lord will open for you his rich storehouse, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all your undertakings. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow. 13 The Lord will make you the head, and not the tail; you shall be only at the top, and not at the bottom—if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am commanding you today, by diligently observing them, 14 and if you do not turn aside from any of the words that I am commanding you today, either to the right or to the left, following other gods to serve them.
Warnings against Disobedience
15 But if you will not obey the Lord your God by diligently observing all his commandments and decrees, which I am commanding you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you:
16 Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the field.
17 Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading-bowl.
18 Cursed shall be the fruit of your womb, the fruit of your ground, the increase of your cattle, and the issue of your flock.
19 Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out.
20 The Lord will send upon you disaster, panic, and frustration in everything you attempt to do, until you are destroyed and perish quickly, on account of the evil of your deeds, because you have forsaken me. 21 The Lord will make the pestilence cling to you until it has consumed you from the land that you are entering to possess. 22 The Lord will afflict you with consumption, fever, inflammation, with fiery heat and drought, and with blight and mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish. 23 The sky over your head shall be bronze, and the earth under you iron. 24 The Lord will change the rain of your land into powder, and only dust shall come down upon you from the sky until you are destroyed.
25 The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out against them one way and flee before them seven ways. You shall become an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth. 26 Your corpses shall be food for every bird of the air and animal of the earth, and there shall be no one to frighten them away. 27 The Lord will afflict you with the boils of Egypt, with ulcers, scurvy, and itch, of which you cannot be healed. 28 The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness, and confusion of mind; 29 you shall grope about at noon as blind people grope in darkness, but you shall be unable to find your way; and you shall be continually abused and robbed, without anyone to help. 30 You shall become engaged to a woman, but another man shall lie with her. You shall build a house, but not live in it. You shall plant a vineyard, but not enjoy its fruit. 31 Your ox shall be butchered before your eyes, but you shall not eat of it. Your donkey shall be stolen in front of you, and shall not be restored to you. Your sheep shall be given to your enemies, without anyone to help you. 32 Your sons and daughters shall be given to another people, while you look on; you will strain your eyes looking for them all day but be powerless to do anything. 33 A people whom you do not know shall eat up the fruit of your ground and of all your labours; you shall be continually abused and crushed, 34 and driven mad by the sight that your eyes shall see. 35 The Lord will strike you on the knees and on the legs with grievous boils of which you cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the crown of your head. 36 The Lord will bring you, and the king whom you set over you, to a nation that neither you nor your ancestors have known, where you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone. 37 You shall become an object of horror, a proverb, and a byword among all the peoples where the Lord will lead you.
38 You shall carry much seed into the field but shall gather little in, for the locust shall consume it. 39 You shall plant vineyards and dress them, but you shall neither drink the wine nor gather the grapes, for the worm shall eat them. 40 You shall have olive trees throughout all your territory, but you shall not anoint yourself with the oil, for your olives shall drop off. 41 You shall have sons and daughters, but they shall not remain yours, for they shall go into captivity. 42 All your trees and the fruit of your ground the cicada shall take over. 43 Aliens residing among you shall ascend above you higher and higher, while you shall descend lower and lower. 44 They shall lend to you but you shall not lend to them; they shall be the head and you shall be the tail.
45 All these curses shall come upon you, pursuing and overtaking you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the Lord your God, by observing the commandments and the decrees that he commanded you. 46 They shall be among you and your descendants as a sign and a portent for ever.
47 Because you did not serve the Lord your God joyfully and with gladness of heart for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and lack of everything. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you. 49 The Lord will bring a nation from far away, from the end of the earth, to swoop down on you like an eagle, a nation whose language you do not understand, 50 a grim-faced nation showing no respect to the old or favour to the young. 51 It shall consume the fruit of your livestock and the fruit of your ground until you are destroyed, leaving you neither grain, wine, and oil, nor the increase of your cattle and the issue of your flock, until it has made you perish. 52 It shall besiege you in all your towns until your high and fortified walls, in which you trusted, come down throughout your land; it shall besiege you in all your towns throughout the land that the Lord your God has given you. 53 In the desperate straits to which the enemy siege reduces you, you will eat the fruit of your womb, the flesh of your own sons and daughters whom the Lord your God has given you. 54 Even the most refined and gentle of men among you will begrudge food to his own brother, to the wife whom he embraces, and to the last of his remaining children, 55 giving to none of them any of the flesh of his children whom he is eating, because nothing else remains to him, in the desperate straits to which the enemy siege will reduce you in all your towns. 56 She who is the most refined and gentle among you, so gentle and refined that she does not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground, will begrudge food to the husband whom she embraces, to her own son, and to her own daughter, 57 begrudging even the afterbirth that comes out from between her thighs, and the children that she bears, because she is eating them in secret for lack of anything else, in the desperate straits to which the enemy siege will reduce you in your towns.
58 If you do not diligently observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, fearing this glorious and awesome name, the Lord your God, 59 then the Lord will overwhelm both you and your offspring with severe and lasting afflictions and grievous and lasting maladies. 60 He will bring back upon you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were in dread, and they shall cling to you. 61 Every other malady and affliction, even though not recorded in the book of this law, the Lord will inflict on you until you are destroyed. 62 Although once you were as numerous as the stars in heaven, you shall be left few in number, because you did not obey the Lord your God. 63 And just as the Lord took delight in making you prosperous and numerous, so the Lord will take delight in bringing you to ruin and destruction; you shall be plucked off the land that you are entering to possess. 64 The Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other; and there you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known. 65 Among those nations you shall find no ease, no resting-place for the sole of your foot. There the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and a languishing spirit. 66 Your life shall hang in doubt before you; night and day you shall be in dread, with no assurance of your life. 67 In the morning you shall say, ‘If only it were evening!’ and at evening you shall say, ‘If only it were morning!’—because of the dread that your heart shall feel and the sights that your eyes shall see. 68 The Lord will bring you back in ships to Egypt, by a route that I promised you would never see again; and there you shall offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but there will be no buyer.
