24 Если мужчина женится на женщине, но потом она ему опротивеет, потому что он увидит в ней что-нибудь позорное, то он может написать разводное письмо, отдать его ей и отослать её из своего дома. 2 И если покинув его дом, она станет женой другого, 3 но и второй муж возненавидит её и напишет разводное письмо, отдаст его ей и отошлёт её из дома, или же он умрёт, 4 то первому мужу, который развёлся с ней, не дозволяется жениться на ней вновь после того, как она была осквернена. Это было бы отвратительно в глазах Вечного. Не наводи грех на землю, которую Вечный, твой Бог, даёт тебе в наследие.
5 Если мужчина недавно женился, то его нельзя посылать на войну или налагать на него любую другую обязанность. В течение года он должен быть свободен, чтобы оставаться в своём доме и радовать жену, которую он взял.
6 Пусть никто не берёт двух жерновов, или даже одного верхнего, в залог за долг, потому что он берёт в залог средство к существованию.
7 Если обнаружится, что какой-нибудь человек украл одного из своих братьев-исраильтян и обходился с ним как с рабом или продал его, то похититель должен умереть. Ты должен искоренить зло из своей среды.
8 В случае заболевания кожной болезнью[a], смотри, делай всё в точности так, как священнослужители-левиты научат тебя. Ты должен прилежно исполнять то, что я повелел им. 9 Помни, что Вечный, твой Бог, сделал с Марьям по дороге, когда вы шли из Египта.
10 Если ты дашь ближнему ссуду любого рода, то не входи к нему в дом, чтобы получить то, что он предлагает в залог. 11 Постой на улице, и пусть человек, которому ты даёшь ссуду, вынесет тебе залог на улицу. 12 Если человек так беден, что может оставить в залог только свою верхнюю одежду, то не ложись спать, оставив у себя его залог. 13 Верни ему его одежду к закату, чтобы он мог спать в ней. Тогда он поблагодарит тебя, и это будет праведным делом перед Вечным, твоим Богом.
14 Не обижай наёмного работника, который беден и нуждается, будь то брат-исраильтянин или чужеземец, живущий в одном из твоих городов. 15 Отдавай ему его плату каждый день до захода солнца, потому что он беден и рассчитывает на неё. Иначе он может взмолиться против тебя Вечному, и на тебе будет грех.
16 Отцов нельзя предавать смерти за вину их детей, и детей за вину их отцов; пусть каждый умирает за свой собственный грех.
17 Не лишай правосудия чужеземца и сироту, не бери в залог одежду у вдовы. 18 Помни, что и ты был рабом в Египте, и Вечный, твой Бог, освободил тебя. Вот почему я повелеваю тебе делать так.
19 Когда будешь жать на своём поле и забудешь сноп, то не возвращайся, чтобы забрать его. Оставь его чужеземцу, сироте и вдове, чтобы Вечный, твой Бог, благословил тебя во всех делах твоих рук. 20 Когда будешь обтрясать оливки с деревьев, то не проходись по ветвям дважды. 24 «Если человек женится, а потом узнает тайну об этой женщине, которая ему не понравится, и, если он недоволен женой, пусть напишет разводное письмо, даст ей и отошлёт её из своего дома. 2 Оставив его дом, она может пойти и стать женой другого. 3-4 Но если и другой муж ею тоже недоволен и отошлёт её, дав ей развод, или если другой муж её умрёт, то первый муж не может снова взять её в жёны, потому что она стала для него нечистой; если он снова женится на ней, то поступок его будет ненавистен Господу. Не свершай такого греха на земле, которую Господь, Бог твой, даёт тебе.
5 Того, кто недавно женился, пусть не посылают в армию и пусть не дают ему никакой особой работы; пусть он целый год остаётся дома на радость своей жене. 6 Когда даёшь кому-либо в долг, не бери у него в залог жернова, которыми он мелет муку, так как это равносильно тому, что ты отобрал у него еду.
7 Если один израильтянин похитил другого из своего народа и если похититель продал того человека в рабство, то похититель должен быть убит. Избавь свой род от этого зла.
8 Если ты болен проказой, тщательно исполняй всё, чему учат левиты, 9 помни, что Господь, Бог твой, сделал с Мариамью на пути, когда вы шли из Египта[a].
10 Если даёшь кому-то в долг, не заходи к нему в дом за залогом, 11 оставайся снаружи, пусть тот, кому ты дал в долг, вынесет тебе залог. 12 Если он беден, не оставляй его одежду как залог у себя на ночь, 13 а возврати в тот же вечер. Тогда у него будет одежда, чтобы укрыться во время сна, и он благословит тебя, и Господь, Бог твой, засчитает тебе это как праведное и доброе дело.

16 Не наказывай смертью родителей за проступки их детей, не наказывай смертью детей за проступки их родителей. Наказывай смертью человека только за проступок, совершённый им самим.
17 Удостоверься, что с иноземцами и сиротами обращаются справедливо; не бери у вдовы в залог её одежду. 18 Помни, что вы были рабами в Египте и Господь, Бог твой, увёл вас оттуда и освободил, поэтому я и тебе велю так поступать с бедными.

Laws Concerning Divorce
24 “When a man takes a wife and marries her, if then she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and (A)he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, and she departs out of his house, 2 and if she goes and becomes another man's wife, 3 and the latter man hates her and writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, or if the latter man dies, who took her to be his wife, 4 then (B)her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after she has been defiled, for that is an abomination before the Lord. And you shall not bring sin upon the land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance.

5 (C)“When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be liable for any other public duty. He shall be free at home one year (D)to be happy with his wife[a] whom he has taken.
6 “No one shall take a mill or an upper millstone in pledge, for that would be taking a life in pledge.
7 (E)“If a man is found stealing one of his brothers of the people of Israel, and if he (F)treats him as a slave or sells him, then that thief shall die. (G)So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
8 “Take care, in (H)a case of leprous[b] disease, to be very careful to do according to all that the Levitical priests shall direct you. As I commanded them, so you shall be careful to do. 9 Remember what the Lord your God did to (I)Miriam (J)on the way as you came out of Egypt.
10 “When you make your neighbor a loan of any sort, you shall not go into his house to collect his pledge. 11 You shall stand outside, and the man to whom you make the loan shall bring the pledge out to you. 12 And if he is a poor man, you shall not sleep in his pledge. 13 (K)You shall restore to him the pledge as the sun sets, that he may sleep in his cloak and (L)bless you. And (M)it shall be righteousness for you before the Lord your God.
14 “You shall not (N)oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns. 15 (O)You shall give him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets (for he is poor and counts on it), (P)lest he cry against you to the Lord, and you be guilty of sin.
16 (Q)“Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.
17 (R)“You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless, (S)or take a widow's garment in pledge, 18 but (T)you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this.
19 (U)“When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, (V)that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 20 When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over them again. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow. 21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not strip it afterward. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow. 22 (W)You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this.

2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.
3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;
4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the Lord: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.
6 No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh a man's life to pledge.
7 If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.
8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.
9 Remember what the Lord thy God did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye were come forth out of Egypt.
10 When thou dost lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge.
11 Thou shalt stand abroad, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring out the pledge abroad unto thee.
12 And if the man be poor, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge:
13 In any case thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may sleep in his own raiment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before the Lord thy God.
14 Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:
15 At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the Lord, and it be sin unto thee.
16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
17 Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge:
18 But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the Lord thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.
