1 Думите на Амос, който бе от говедарите на Текое, които <чу във> видение относно Израиля в дните на Юдовия цар Озия, и в дните на Израилевия цар Иеровоама, Иоасовия син, две години преди земетресението.
2 И рече: Господ ще изрикае от Сион, И ще издаде гласа Си от Ерусалим; Пасбищата на овчарите ще ридаят, И върхът на Кармил ще повехне.
3 Така казва Господ: Поради три престъпления на Дамаск, Да! Поради четири, няма да отменя <наказанието> му, Защото вършаха Галаад с железни дикани;
4 Но аз ще изпратя огън в дома Азаилов, Та ще изпояде палатите на Венадада.
5 Аз ще строша лостовете на Дамаск, И ще изтребя от Авенското поле жителя, И от Еденовия дом онзи, който държи скиптър; И Сирийските люде ще бъдат откарани пленници в Кир, казва Господ.
6 Така казва Господ: Поради три престъпления на Газа, Да! поради четири, няма да отменя <наказанието му>, Защото плениха всичките <Ми> люде, За да ги предадат на Едома;
7 Но аз ще изпратя огън върху стената на Газа, Та ще изпояде палатите му.
8 Ще изтребя от Азот жителя, И от Аскалон онзи, който държи скиптър; Ще обърна ръката Си против Акарон, И останалите от филистимците ще загинат, казва Господ Иеова.
9 Така казва Господ: Поради три престъпления на Тир, Да! поради четири, няма да отменя< наказанието> им, Защото предадоха всичките <Ми> люде в плен на Едома, И не помниха братския завет;
10 Но аз ще изпратя огън върху стената на Тир, Та ще изпояде палатите му.
11 Така казва Господ: Поради три престъпления на Едом, Да! поради четири, няма да отменя <наказанието> му, Защото прогони брата си с меч, И, като отхвърли всяко милосърдие, Негодуванието му разкъсваше непрестанно, И той пазеше гнева си всякога;
12 Но Аз ще изпратя огън върху Теман, Та ще изпояде палатите на Восора.
13 Така казва Господ: Поради три престъпления на амонците, Да! поради четири, няма да отменя <наказанието> им, Защото разпаряха бременните жени на Галаад, За да разширят пределите си;
14 Но Аз ще запаля огън в стената на Рава, Та ще изпояде палатите му, Всред силно викане в деня на боя, Всред вихрушка в деня на бурята;
15 И царят им ще отиде в плен, Той и първенците му заедно, казва Господ.

Guds dom över Israels grannfolk
1 Detta är Amos ord, som var en av herdarna från Tekoa, vad han såg angående Israel, när Ussia var kung i Juda och Jerobeam, Joashs son, var kung i Israel, två år före jordbävningen[a].
2 Amos sa:
”Herren ryter från Sion,
från Jerusalem dånar hans röst.
Herdarnas betesmarker vissnar
och Karmels topp torkar bort.”
3 Så säger Herren:
”För Damaskus tre, ja, fyra överträdelsers skull
kan jag inte låta bli att agera,
eftersom de med trösksläden av järn
har krossat Gilead.
4 Jag ska sända eld mot Hasaels slott,
och den ska förtära Ben-Hadads fästningar.
5 Jag ska bryta sönder bommen i Damaskus
och utplåna den som bor i Bikat-Aven
och den som bär spiran i Bet Eden.
Arams folk ska föras bort till Kir, säger Herren.”
6 Så säger Herren:
”För Gazas tre, ja, fyra överträdelsers skull
kan jag inte låta bli att agera,
eftersom de fört bort hela samhällen till exil
och sålt dem till Edom.
7 Jag ska sända eld mot Gazas mur,
och den ska förtära dess fästningar.
8 Jag ska utplåna den som bor i Ashdod
och den som bär spiran i Ashkelon.
Jag ska vända mig mot Ekron,
tills filistéerna är döda till sista man, säger Herren, Herren.”
9 Så säger Herren:
”För Tyros tre, ja, fyra överträdelsers skull
kan jag inte låta bli att agera,
eftersom de har sålt hela samhällen åt Edom
och inte tänkt på sitt broderskapsförbund.
10 Jag ska sända eld mot Tyros mur,
och den ska förtära dess fästningar.”
11 Så säger Herren:
”För Edoms tre, ja, fyra överträdelsers skull
kan jag inte låta bli att agera,
eftersom han har förföljt sin bror med svärd
och förkvävt sin barmhärtighet,
låtit sin vrede ständigt brinna
och sitt raseri fortsätta okontrollerat.
12 Jag ska sända eld mot Teman,
och den ska förtära Bosras fästningar.”
13 Så säger Herren:
”För Ammons tre, ja, fyra överträdelsers skull
kan jag inte låta bli att agera,
eftersom de skurit upp gravida kvinnor i Gilead,
då de ville utvidga sina gränser.
14 Därför ska jag sätta eld på Rabbas mur,
och den ska förtära dess fästningar
under krigsrop på stridens dag,
under en våldsam vind på stormens dag.
15 Deras kung måste gå till exil,
han och hans furstar tillsammans, säger Herren.”

1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
3 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord.
6 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:
8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.
9 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.
11 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:
14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.

1 The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa(A)—the vision he saw concerning Israel two years before the earthquake,(B) when Uzziah(C) was king of Judah and Jeroboam(D) son of Jehoash[a] was king of Israel.(E)
2 He said:
“The Lord roars(F) from Zion
and thunders(G) from Jerusalem;(H)
the pastures of the shepherds dry up,
and the top of Carmel(I) withers.”(J)
Judgment on Israel’s Neighbors
3 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Damascus,(K)
even for four, I will not relent.(L)
Because she threshed Gilead
with sledges having iron teeth,
4 I will send fire(M) on the house of Hazael(N)
that will consume the fortresses(O) of Ben-Hadad.(P)
5 I will break down the gate(Q) of Damascus;
I will destroy the king who is in[b] the Valley of Aven[c]
and the one who holds the scepter in Beth Eden.(R)
The people of Aram will go into exile to Kir,(S)”
says the Lord.(T)
6 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Gaza,(U)
even for four, I will not relent.(V)
Because she took captive whole communities
and sold them to Edom,(W)
7 I will send fire on the walls of Gaza
that will consume her fortresses.
8 I will destroy the king[d] of Ashdod(X)
and the one who holds the scepter in Ashkelon.
I will turn my hand(Y) against Ekron,
till the last of the Philistines(Z) are dead,”(AA)
says the Sovereign Lord.(AB)
9 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Tyre,(AC)
even for four, I will not relent.(AD)
Because she sold whole communities of captives to Edom,
disregarding a treaty of brotherhood,(AE)
10 I will send fire on the walls of Tyre
that will consume her fortresses.(AF)”
11 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Edom,(AG)
even for four, I will not relent.
Because he pursued his brother with a sword(AH)
and slaughtered the women of the land,
because his anger raged continually
and his fury flamed unchecked,(AI)
12 I will send fire on Teman(AJ)
that will consume the fortresses of Bozrah.(AK)”
13 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Ammon,(AL)
even for four, I will not relent.
Because he ripped open the pregnant women(AM) of Gilead
in order to extend his borders,
14 I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah(AN)
that will consume(AO) her fortresses
amid war cries(AP) on the day of battle,
amid violent winds(AQ) on a stormy day.
15 Her king[e] will go into exile,
he and his officials together,(AR)”
says the Lord.(AS)
