59 Ото ж бо, Господня рука не скоротшала, щоб не помагати, і Його вухо не стало тяжким, щоб не чути,
2 бо то тільки переступи ваші відділювали вас від вашого Бога, і ваші провини ховали обличчя Його від вас, щоб Він не почув,
3 бо ваші долоні заплямлені кров'ю, ваші ж пальці беззаконням, уста ваші говорять неправду, язик ваш белькоче лихе!
4 Немає нікого, хто б кликав на суд, і нікого нема, хто судився б поправді, кожен надію кладе не марноту й говорить неправду, вагітніє бідою й породжує злочин!
5 Висиджують яйця гадючі та тчуть павутиння: хто з'їсть з їхніх яєць, помирає, а з розбитого гадина вийде...
6 Нитки їхні не стануть одежею, і виробами своїми вони не покриються: їхні діла діла кривди, і в їхніх руках чин насильства...
7 Їхні ноги біжать на лихе, і спішать проливати невинну кров, їхні думки думки кривдні, руїна й погибіль на їхніх дорогах!
8 Дороги спокою не знають, і правосуддя немає на їхніх стежках, вони покрутили собі свої стежки, і кожен, хто нею ступає, не знає спокою.
9 Тому віддалилося право від нас, і не сягає до нас справедливість! чекаємо світла, та ось темнота, чекаємо сяйва та й у темнощах ходимо!
10 Ми мацаємо, мов невидющі, за стіну, навпомацки ходимо, мов ті безокі; спотикаємося ми опівдні, немов би смерком, між здоровими ми, як померлі!...
11 Усі ми ревемо, як ведмеді, і мов голуби ті постійно воркочемо, чекаємо права й немає, спасіння й від нас віддалилось воно...
12 Бо помножились наші переступи перед Тобою, і свідкують на нас гріхи наші, бо з нами переступи наші, а наші провини ми знаємо їх!
13 Ми зраджували й говорили неправду на Господа, і повідступали від нашого Бога, казали про утиск та відступ, вагітніли й видумували з свого серця слова неправдиві...
14 І правосуддя назад відступилося, а справедливість здалека стоїть, бо на майдані спіткнулася істина, правда ж не може прийти,
15 і істина зникла, а той, хто від злого відходить, грабований... І це бачить Господь, і лихе в Його очах, що права нема!
16 І Він бачив, що немає нікого, і дивувавсь, що немає заступника... Та рамено Його Йому допомогло, і Його справедливість підперла Його,
17 і Він зодягнув справедливість, як панцер, а шолома спасіння на Свою голову, і зодягнув шати помсти, як одяг, і покрився горливістю, мов би плащем!
18 Надолужить Він гнівом Своїм ворогам згідно з учинками їхніми, Своїм супротивним заплатою, островам надолужить заплату.
19 І будуть боятися Ймення Господнього з заходу, а слави Його зо схід сонця, бо прийде, як річка рвучка, вітер Господній її пожене,
20 і прийде Викупитель Сіонові й тим, хто вернувся із прогріху в Якові, каже Господь.
21 А Я ось із ними умова Моя, говорить Господь: Мій Дух, який на тобі, та слова Мої, що поклав Я до уст твоїх, не уступлять вони з твоїх уст, і з уст нащадків твоїх, і з уст нащадків потомства твого, говорить Господь, відтепер й аж навіки!

Good News Translation
The Prophet Condemns the People's Sins
59 Don't think that the Lord is too weak to save you or too deaf to hear your call for help! 2 It is because of your sins that he doesn't hear you. It is your sins that separate you from God when you try to worship him. 3 You are guilty of lying, violence, and murder.
4 You go to court, but you do not have justice on your side. You depend on lies to win your case. You carry out your plans to hurt others. 5-6 The evil plots you make are as deadly as the eggs of a poisonous snake. Crush an egg, out comes a snake! But your plots will do you no good—they are as useless as clothing made of cobwebs! 7 (A)You are always planning something evil, and you can hardly wait to do it. You never hesitate to murder innocent people. You leave ruin and destruction wherever you go, 8 and no one is safe when you are around. Everything you do is unjust. You follow a crooked path, and no one who walks that path will ever be safe.
The People Confess Their Sin
9 The people say, “Now we know why God does not save us from those who oppress us. We hope for light to walk by, but there is only darkness, 10 and we grope about like blind people. We stumble at noon, as if it were night, as if we were in the dark world of the dead. 11 We are frightened and distressed. We long for God to save us from oppression and wrong, but nothing happens.
12 “Lord, our crimes against you are many. Our sins accuse us. We are well aware of them all. 13 We have rebelled against you, rejected you, and refused to follow you. We have oppressed others and turned away from you. Our thoughts are false; our words are lies. 14 Justice is driven away, and right cannot come near. Truth stumbles in the public square, and honesty finds no place there. 15 There is so little honesty that those who stop doing evil find themselves the victims of crime.”
The Lord Prepares to Rescue His People
The Lord has seen this, and he is displeased that there is no justice. 16 (B)He is astonished to see that there is no one to help the oppressed. So he will use his own power to rescue them and to win the victory. 17 (C)He will wear justice like a coat of armor and saving power like a helmet. He will clothe himself with the strong desire to set things right and to punish and avenge the wrongs that people suffer. 18 He will punish his enemies according to what they have done, even those who live in distant lands. 19 From east to west everyone will fear him and his great power. He will come like a rushing river, like a strong wind.
20 (D)The Lord says to his people, “I will come to Jerusalem to defend you and to save all of you that turn from your sins. 21 And I make a covenant with you: I have given you my power and my teachings to be yours forever, and from now on you are to obey me and teach your children and your descendants to obey me for all time to come.”

Sin, Confession and Redemption
59 Surely the arm(A) of the Lord is not too short(B) to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear.(C)
2 But your iniquities have separated(D)
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.(E)
3 For your hands are stained with blood,(F)
your fingers with guilt.(G)
Your lips have spoken falsely,(H)
and your tongue mutters wicked things.
4 No one calls for justice;(I)
no one pleads a case with integrity.
They rely(J) on empty arguments, they utter lies;(K)
they conceive trouble and give birth to evil.(L)
5 They hatch the eggs of vipers(M)
and spin a spider’s web.(N)
Whoever eats their eggs will die,
and when one is broken, an adder is hatched.
6 Their cobwebs are useless for clothing;
they cannot cover themselves with what they make.(O)
Their deeds are evil deeds,
and acts of violence(P) are in their hands.
7 Their feet rush into sin;
they are swift to shed innocent blood.(Q)
They pursue evil schemes;(R)
acts of violence mark their ways.(S)
8 The way of peace they do not know;(T)
there is no justice in their paths.
They have turned them into crooked roads;(U)
no one who walks along them will know peace.(V)
9 So justice is far from us,
and righteousness does not reach us.
We look for light, but all is darkness;(W)
for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows.
10 Like the blind(X) we grope along the wall,
feeling our way like people without eyes.
At midday we stumble(Y) as if it were twilight;
among the strong, we are like the dead.(Z)
11 We all growl like bears;
we moan mournfully like doves.(AA)
We look for justice, but find none;
for deliverance, but it is far away.
12 For our offenses(AB) are many in your sight,
and our sins testify(AC) against us.
Our offenses are ever with us,
and we acknowledge our iniquities:(AD)
13 rebellion(AE) and treachery against the Lord,
turning our backs(AF) on our God,
inciting revolt and oppression,(AG)
uttering lies(AH) our hearts have conceived.
14 So justice(AI) is driven back,
and righteousness(AJ) stands at a distance;
truth(AK) has stumbled in the streets,
honesty cannot enter.
15 Truth(AL) is nowhere to be found,
and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey.
The Lord looked and was displeased
that there was no justice.(AM)
16 He saw that there was no one,(AN)
he was appalled that there was no one to intervene;(AO)
so his own arm achieved salvation(AP) for him,
and his own righteousness(AQ) sustained him.
17 He put on righteousness as his breastplate,(AR)
and the helmet(AS) of salvation on his head;
he put on the garments(AT) of vengeance(AU)
and wrapped himself in zeal(AV) as in a cloak.
18 According to what they have done,
so will he repay(AW)
wrath to his enemies
and retribution to his foes;
he will repay the islands(AX) their due.
19 From the west,(AY) people will fear the name of the Lord,
and from the rising of the sun,(AZ) they will revere his glory.(BA)
For he will come like a pent-up flood
that the breath(BB) of the Lord drives along.[a]
20 “The Redeemer(BC) will come to Zion,(BD)
to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,”(BE)
declares the Lord.
21 “As for me, this is my covenant(BF) with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit,(BG) who is on you, will not depart from you,(BH) and my words that I have put in your mouth(BI) will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.
