Segunda plaga: las ranas

8 [a]Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: Ve a Faraón y dile: «Así dice el Señor: “Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me sirva(A). 2 Pero si te niegas a dejarlos ir, he aquí, heriré todo tu territorio con ranas. 3 Y el Nilo se llenará[b] de ranas, que subirán y entrarán en tu casa, en tu alcoba y sobre tu cama(B), y en las casas de tus siervos y en tu pueblo, en tus hornos y en tus artesas. 4 Y subirán las ranas sobre ti, sobre tu pueblo y sobre todos tus siervos”». 5 [c]Dijo además el Señor a Moisés: Di a Aarón: «Extiende tu mano con tu vara sobre los ríos, sobre los arroyos[d] y sobre los estanques(C), y haz que suban ranas sobre la tierra de Egipto». 6 Y extendió Aarón su mano sobre las aguas de Egipto, y las ranas subieron y cubrieron[e] la tierra de Egipto(D). 7 Y los magos[f] hicieron lo mismo[g] con sus encantamientos[h](E), e hicieron subir ranas sobre la tierra de Egipto.

8 Entonces Faraón llamó a Moisés y a Aarón(F), y dijo: Rogad al Señor para que quite las ranas de mí y de mi pueblo, y yo dejaré ir al pueblo(G) para que ofrezca sacrificios al Señor(H). 9 Y Moisés dijo a Faraón: Dígnate decirme[i] cuándo he de rogar por ti, por tus siervos y por tu pueblo, para que las ranas sean quitadas[j] de ti y de tus casas y queden solamente en el río.

10 Y él respondió: Mañana. Entonces Moisés dijo: Sea conforme a tu palabra para que sepas que no hay nadie como el Señor nuestro Dios(I). 11 Y las ranas se alejarán de ti, de tus casas, de tus siervos y de tu pueblo(J); solo quedarán en el Nilo. 12 Entonces Moisés y Aarón salieron de la presencia de Faraón, y Moisés clamó al Señor(K) acerca de las ranas que Él había puesto sobre Faraón. 13 Y el Señor hizo conforme a la palabra de Moisés, y murieron las ranas de las casas, de los patios y de los campos. 14 Y las juntaron en montones, y la tierra se corrompió[k]. 15 Pero al ver Faraón que había alivio, endureció[l] su corazón y no los escuchó, tal como el Señor había dicho(L).

Tercera plaga: los piojos

16 Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: Di a Aarón: «Extiende tu vara y golpea el polvo de la tierra para que se convierta en piojos[m] por toda la tierra de Egipto». 17 Y así lo hicieron; y Aarón extendió su mano con su vara, y golpeó el polvo de la tierra, y hubo piojos[n] en hombres y animales. Todo el polvo de la tierra se convirtió en piojos[o] por todo el país de Egipto(M). 18 Y los magos[p] trataron de producir piojos[q] con sus encantamientos[r], pero no pudieron(N); hubo, pues, piojos en hombres y animales. 19 Entonces los magos[s] dijeron a Faraón: Este es el dedo de Dios(O). Pero el corazón de Faraón se endureció[t] y no los escuchó, tal como el Señor había dicho.

Cuarta plaga: los insectos

20 Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: Levántate muy de mañana y ponte delante de Faraón cuando vaya[u] al agua(P), y dile: «Así dice el Señor: “Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me sirva(Q). 21 Porque si no dejas ir a mi pueblo, he aquí, enviaré enjambres de insectos sobre ti, sobre tus siervos, sobre tu pueblo y dentro de tus casas; y las casas de los egipcios se llenarán de enjambres de insectos, y también el suelo sobre el cual están. 22 Mas en aquel día yo pondré aparte la tierra de Gosén en la que mora[v] mi pueblo(R), para que no haya allí enjambres de insectos, a fin de que sepas que yo, el Señor, estoy[w] en medio de la tierra(S); 23 y yo haré distinción[x] entre mi pueblo y tu pueblo. Mañana tendrá lugar esta señal”». 24 Y así lo hizo el Señor. Y entraron grandes[y] enjambres de insectos en la casa de Faraón y en las casas de sus siervos, y en todo el país de Egipto la tierra fue devastada a causa de los enjambres de insectos(T).

25 Entonces llamó Faraón a Moisés y a Aarón, y dijo(U): Id, ofreced sacrificio a vuestro Dios dentro del país(V). 26 Pero Moisés respondió: No conviene que lo hagamos así, porque es abominación para[z] los egipcios lo que sacrificaremos al Señor nuestro Dios(W). Si sacrificamos lo que es abominación para[aa] los egipcios delante de sus ojos, ¿no nos apedrearán? 27 Andaremos una distancia de tres días de camino en el desierto, y ofreceremos sacrificios al Señor nuestro Dios, tal como Él nos manda[ab](X). 28 Y Faraón dijo: Os dejaré ir para que ofrezcáis sacrificio al Señor vuestro Dios en el desierto(Y), solo que no vayáis muy lejos. Orad por mí(Z). 29 Entonces dijo Moisés: He aquí, voy a salir de tu presencia y rogaré al Señor que los enjambres de insectos se alejen mañana de Faraón, de sus siervos y de su pueblo; pero que Faraón no vuelva a obrar con engaño, no dejando ir al pueblo a ofrecer sacrificios al Señor(AA). 30 Y salió Moisés de la presencia de Faraón y oró al Señor(AB). 31 Y el Señor hizo como Moisés le pidió[ac], y quitó los enjambres de insectos de Faraón, de sus siervos y de su pueblo; no quedó ni uno solo. 32 Pero Faraón endureció[ad] su corazón también esta vez y no dejó salir al pueblo(AC).

Broaştele

8 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Du-te la Faraon şi spune-i: ‘Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Lasă pe poporul Meu să plece ca să-Mi(A) slujească. 2 Dacă nu(B) vrei să-l laşi să plece, am să aduc broaşte(C) pe toată întinderea ţării tale. 3 Râul va mişuna de broaşte; ele se vor sui şi vor intra în casa ta, în odaia(D) ta de dormit şi în patul tău, în casa slujitorilor tăi şi în casele poporului tău, în cuptoarele şi în postăvile de frământat pâinea. 4 Ba încă broaştele se vor sui şi pe tine, pe poporul tău şi pe toţi slujitorii tăi»’.” 5 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Spune lui Aaron(E): ‘Întinde-ţi mâna cu toiagul peste râuri, peste pâraie şi peste iazuri şi scoate broaşte din ele peste ţara Egiptului!’ ” 6 Aaron şi-a întins mâna peste apele Egiptului, şi au ieşit(F) broaştele şi au acoperit ţara Egiptului. 7 Dar(G) şi vrăjitorii au făcut la fel prin vrăjitoriile lor: au scos şi ei broaşte peste toată ţara Egiptului. 8 Faraon a chemat pe Moise şi pe Aaron şi a zis(H): „Rugaţi-vă Domnului să depărteze broaştele de la mine şi de la poporul meu, şi am să las pe popor să plece să aducă jertfe Domnului.” 9 Moise a zis lui Faraon: „Hotărăşte-mi când să mă rog Domnului pentru tine, pentru slujitorii tăi şi pentru poporul tău, ca să îndepărteze broaştele de la tine şi din casele tale? Nu vor mai rămâne decât în râu.” 10 El a răspuns: „Mâine.” Şi Moise a zis: „Aşa va fi, ca să ştii că nimeni(I) nu este ca Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru. 11 Broaştele se vor depărta de la tine şi din casele tale, de la slujitorii tăi şi de la poporul tău; nu vor mai rămâne decât în râu.” 12 Moise şi Aaron au ieşit de la Faraon. Şi Moise(J) a strigat către Domnul cu privire la broaştele cu care lovise pe Faraon. 13 Domnul a făcut cum cerea Moise, şi broaştele au pierit în case, în curţi şi în ogoare. 14 Le-au strâns grămezi, şi ţara s-a împuţit. 15 Faraon, văzând că are(K) răgaz să răsufle în voie, şi-a(L) împietrit inima şi n-a ascultat de Moise şi de Aaron, după cum spusese Domnul.

Păduchii

16 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Spune lui Aaron: ‘Întinde-ţi toiagul şi loveşte ţărâna pământului, şi se va preface în păduchi[a], în toată ţara Egiptului’.” 17 Aşa au făcut. Aaron şi-a întins mâna cu toiagul şi a lovit ţărâna pământului, şi s-a prefăcut în(M) păduchi pe toţi oamenii şi pe toate dobitoacele. Toată ţărâna pământului s-a prefăcut în păduchi în toată ţara Egiptului. 18 Vrăjitorii(N) au căutat să facă şi ei păduchi prin vrăjitoriile lor, dar n-au(O) putut. Păduchii erau pe oameni şi pe dobitoace. 19 Şi vrăjitorii au zis lui Faraon: „Aici este degetul lui Dumnezeu!” Dar inima(P) lui Faraon s-a împietrit şi n-a ascultat de Moise şi de Aaron, după cum spusese Domnul.

Musca câinească

20 Domnul a zis lui Moise(Q): „Scoală-te dis-de-dimineaţă şi du-te înaintea lui Faraon când are să iasă să se ducă la apă. Să-i spui: ‘Aşa vorbeşte Domnul(R): «Lasă pe poporul Meu să plece, ca să-Mi slujească. 21 Dacă nu vei lăsa pe poporul Meu să plece, am să trimit muşte câineşti împotriva ta, împotriva slujitorilor tăi, împotriva poporului tău şi împotriva caselor tale; casele egiptenilor vor fi pline de muşte şi pământul va fi acoperit de ele. 22 Dar(S) în ziua aceea voi deosebi ţinutul Gosen, unde locuieşte poporul Meu, şi acolo nu vor fi muşte, pentru ca să cunoşti că Eu, Domnul, sunt în mijlocul ţinutului acestuia. 23 Voi face o deosebire între poporul Meu şi poporul tău. Semnul acesta va fi mâine».’ ” 24 Domnul a făcut aşa. A venit(T) un roi de muşte câineşti în casa lui Faraon şi a slujitorilor lui şi toată ţara Egiptului a fost pustiită de muşte câineşti. 25 Faraon a chemat pe Moise şi pe Aaron şi le-a zis: „Duceţi-vă de aduceţi jertfe Dumnezeului vostru aici în ţară.” 26 Moise a răspuns: „Nu este deloc potrivit să facem aşa, căci am aduce Domnului, Dumnezeului nostru, jertfe care sunt o urâciune pentru egipteni. Şi dacă am aduce sub ochii lor jertfe care sunt o(U) urâciune pentru egipteni, nu ne vor ucide ei oare cu pietre? 27 Vom face mai bine un drum de(V) trei zile în pustie şi acolo vom aduce jertfe Domnului, Dumnezeului nostru, după cum(W) ne va spune.” 28 Faraon a zis: „Vă voi lăsa să plecaţi ca să aduceţi jertfe Domnului, Dumnezeului vostru, în pustie; numai să nu vă depărtaţi prea mult, dacă plecaţi(X). Rugaţi-vă pentru mine.” 29 Moise a răspuns: „Am să ies de la tine şi am să mă rog Domnului. Mâine, muştele se vor depărta de la Faraon, de la slujitorii lui şi de la poporul lui. Dar să nu ne(Y) mai înşele Faraon, nevrând să lase pe popor să plece ca să aducă jertfe Domnului.” 30 Moise a ieşit de la Faraon şi s-a(Z) rugat Domnului. 31 Domnul a făcut cum cerea Moise, şi muştele s-au depărtat de la Faraon, de la slujitorii lui şi de la poporul lui; n-a mai rămas una. 32 Dar Faraon şi de data aceasta şi-a împietrit(AA) inima şi n-a lăsat pe popor să plece.

8 1 [a]Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so that they may worship(A) me. 2 If you refuse to let them go, I will send a plague of frogs(B) on your whole country. 3 The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people,(C) and into your ovens and kneading troughs.(D) 4 The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”

5 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff(E) over the streams and canals and ponds, and make frogs(F) come up on the land of Egypt.’”

6 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs(G) came up and covered the land. 7 But the magicians did the same things by their secret arts;(H) they also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

8 Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray(I) to the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices(J) to the Lord.”

9 Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time(K) for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.”

10 “Tomorrow,” Pharaoh said.

Moses replied, “It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the Lord our God.(L) 11 The frogs will leave you and your houses, your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.”

12 After Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh, Moses cried out to the Lord about the frogs he had brought on Pharaoh. 13 And the Lord did what Moses asked.(M) The frogs died in the houses, in the courtyards and in the fields. 14 They were piled into heaps, and the land reeked of them. 15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief,(N) he hardened his heart(O) and would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said.

The Plague of Gnats

16 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff(P) and strike the dust of the ground,’ and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats.” 17 They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats(Q) came on people and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats. 18 But when the magicians(R) tried to produce gnats by their secret arts,(S) they could not.

Since the gnats were on people and animals everywhere, 19 the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger(T) of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart(U) was hard and he would not listen,(V) just as the Lord had said.

The Plague of Flies

20 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning(W) and confront Pharaoh as he goes to the river and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so that they may worship(X) me. 21 If you do not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies on you and your officials, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies; even the ground will be covered with them.

22 “‘But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen,(Y) where my people live;(Z) no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know(AA) that I, the Lord, am in this land. 23 I will make a distinction[b] between my people and your people.(AB) This sign will occur tomorrow.’”

24 And the Lord did this. Dense swarms of flies poured into Pharaoh’s palace and into the houses of his officials; throughout Egypt the land was ruined by the flies.(AC)

25 Then Pharaoh summoned(AD) Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God here in the land.”

26 But Moses said, “That would not be right. The sacrifices we offer the Lord our God would be detestable to the Egyptians.(AE) And if we offer sacrifices that are detestable in their eyes, will they not stone us? 27 We must take a three-day journey(AF) into the wilderness to offer sacrifices(AG) to the Lord our God, as he commands us.”

28 Pharaoh said, “I will let you go to offer sacrifices to the Lord your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray(AH) for me.”

29 Moses answered, “As soon as I leave you, I will pray to the Lord, and tomorrow the flies will leave Pharaoh and his officials and his people. Only let Pharaoh be sure that he does not act deceitfully(AI) again by not letting the people go to offer sacrifices to the Lord.”

30 Then Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord,(AJ) 31 and the Lord did what Moses asked. The flies left Pharaoh and his officials and his people; not a fly remained. 32 But this time also Pharaoh hardened his heart(AK) and would not let the people go.
