El altar del incienso

30 (A)Harás también un altar para quemar en él incienso; de madera de acacia lo harás. 2 De un codo[a] será su longitud y de un codo su anchura, será cuadrado; y de dos codos su altura. Sus cuernos serán de una pieza con él[b]. 3 Lo revestirás de oro puro: su parte superior, sus lados[c] en derredor y sus cuernos; y le harás una moldura de oro alrededor. 4 Le harás dos argollas de oro debajo de su moldura; los harás en dos de sus lados, en lados opuestos[d], y servirán de sostén[e] para las varas con las cuales transportarlo. 5 Y harás las varas de madera de acacia y las revestirás de oro. 6 Pondrás el altar[f] delante del velo que está junto al[g] arca del testimonio, delante del propiciatorio que está sobre el arca del testimonio, donde yo me encontraré contigo(B). 7 Y Aarón quemará incienso aromático sobre él; lo quemará cada mañana al preparar las lámparas. 8 Y cuando Aarón prepare[h] las lámparas al atardecer[i], quemará incienso. Habrá incienso perpetuo delante del Señor por todas vuestras generaciones. 9 No ofreceréis incienso extraño en este altar[j], ni holocausto ni ofrenda de cereal; tampoco derramaréis libación sobre él. 10 Aarón hará expiación sobre los cuernos del altar[k] una vez al año; hará expiación sobre él con la sangre de la ofrenda de expiación(C) por el pecado, una vez al año por todas vuestras generaciones; santísimo es al Señor.

La ofrenda del rescate

11 Habló también el Señor a Moisés, diciendo: 12 Cuando hagas un censo[l] de los hijos de Israel para contarlos, cada uno dará al Señor un rescate por su persona[m](D) cuando sean contados(E), para que no haya plaga entre ellos cuando los hayas contado. 13 Esto dará todo el que sea contado[n]: medio siclo[o], conforme al siclo del santuario. El siclo es de veinte geras[p](F). Medio siclo es la ofrenda[q] al Señor. 14 Todo el que sea contado, de veinte años arriba, dará la ofrenda al[r] Señor. 15 El rico no pagará más, ni el pobre pagará menos del medio siclo, al dar la ofrenda al[s] Señor para hacer expiación por vuestras vidas[t]. 16 Tomarás de los hijos de Israel el dinero de la expiación y lo darás para el servicio de la tienda de reunión, para que sea un recordatorio para los hijos de Israel delante del Señor, como expiación por vuestras vidas[u].

La fuente de bronce

17 Y el Señor habló a Moisés, diciendo: 18 Harás también una pila de bronce[v], con su base de bronce(G), para lavatorio; y la colocarás entre la tienda de reunión y el altar, y pondrás agua en ella(H). 19 Y con[w] ella se lavarán las manos y los pies Aarón y sus hijos(I). 20 Al entrar en la tienda de reunión, se lavarán con agua para que no mueran; también[x] cuando se acerquen al altar a ministrar para quemar una ofrenda encendida al Señor. 21 Y se lavarán las manos y los pies para que no mueran; y será estatuto perpetuo para ellos, para Aarón[y] y su descendencia[z], por todas sus generaciones(J).

El aceite de la unción y el incienso

22 Habló el Señor a Moisés, diciendo: 23 Toma[aa] también de las especias más finas: de mirra fluida, quinientos siclos; de canela aromática, la mitad, doscientos cincuenta; y de caña aromática, doscientos cincuenta; 24 de casia, quinientos siclos, conforme al siclo del santuario, y un hin[ab] de aceite de oliva. 25 Y harás de ello el aceite de la santa unción, mezcla de perfume, obra de perfumador; será aceite de santa unción(K). 26 Y con él ungirás la tienda(L) de reunión y el arca del testimonio, 27 la mesa y todos sus utensilios, el candelabro y sus utensilios, el altar del incienso, 28 el altar del holocausto y todos sus utensilios, la pila y su base. 29 Los consagrarás y serán santísimos; todo aquello que los toque será santificado. 30 Y ungirás a Aarón y a sus hijos(M) y los consagrarás para que me sirvan como sacerdotes. 31 Y hablarás a los hijos de Israel, diciendo: «Este será aceite de santa unción para mí por todas vuestras generaciones. 32 No se derramará sobre nadie[ac], ni haréis otro igual en las mismas proporciones[ad]; santo es, y santo será para vosotros(N). 33 Cualquiera que haga[ae] otro semejante, o el que ponga de él sobre un laico[af], será cortado de entre su pueblo[ag](O)».

34 Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: Toma[ah] especias, estacte, uña aromática[ai] y gálbano, especias con incienso puro; que haya de cada una igual peso. 35 Con ello harás incienso, un perfume, obra de perfumador, sazonado[aj], puro y santo. 36 Y molerás parte de él muy fino, y pondrás una parte delante del testimonio en el tabernáculo de reunión donde yo me encontraré contigo(P); santísimo será para vosotros. 37 Y el incienso que harás, no lo haréis en las mismas proporciones[ak] para vuestro propio uso[al]; te será santo(Q) para el Señor. 38 Cualquiera que haga incienso como este, para usarlo como perfume[am] será cortado de entre su pueblo[an](R).

El altar del incienso(A)

30 »Haz un altar de madera de acacia para quemar incienso. 2 Hazlo cuadrado, de un codo de largo por un codo de ancho y dos codos de alto.[a] Sus cuernos deben formar una pieza con el altar. 3 Recubre de oro puro su parte superior, sus cuatro costados y los cuernos, y ponle una moldura de oro alrededor. 4 Debajo de la moldura ponle dos anillos de oro en cada uno de sus costados, para pasar por ellos las varas usadas para transportarlo. 5 Prepara las varas de madera de acacia y recúbrelas de oro. 6 Pon el altar frente a la cortina que está ante el arca con las tablas del pacto, es decir, ante la tapa que está sobre el arca, que es donde me reuniré contigo.

7 »Cada mañana, cuando Aarón prepare las lámparas, quemará incienso aromático sobre el altar 8 y también al caer la tarde, cuando las encienda. Las generaciones futuras deberán quemar siempre incienso ante el Señor. 9 No ofrezcas sobre ese altar ningún otro incienso, ni holocausto ni ofrenda de grano, ni derrames sobre él ofrenda líquida alguna. 10 Cada año Aarón hará un sacrificio y pedirá perdón por el pecado a lo largo de todas las generaciones. Lo hará poniendo la sangre de la ofrenda del perdón sobre los cuernos del altar. Este altar estará completamente consagrado al Señor».

La ofrenda por el rescate de la vida

11 El Señor habló con Moisés y le dijo: 12 «Cuando hagas el censo y cuentes a los israelitas, cada uno deberá pagar al Señor rescate por su vida, para que no le sobrevenga ninguna plaga durante el censo. 13 Cada uno de los censados deberá pagar como ofrenda al Señor medio siclo[b] de plata, que es la mitad del peso oficial del santuario.[c] 14 Todos los censados mayores de veinte años deberán entregar esta ofrenda al Señor. 15 Al entregar al Señor la ofrenda de rescate por la vida, ni el rico dará más de medio siclo, ni el pobre dará menos. 16 Tú mismo recibirás esta plata de manos de los israelitas, y la entregarás para el servicio de la Tienda de reunión. De esta manera el Señor tendrá presente que los israelitas pagaron por el rescate de su vida».

El recipiente para el lavado

17 El Señor habló con Moisés y le dijo: 18 «Haz un recipiente de bronce para lavarse, con un pedestal también de bronce, y colócalo entre la Tienda de reunión y el altar. Échale agua, 19 pues con ella deben lavarse Aarón y sus hijos las manos y los pies. 20 Siempre que entren en la Tienda de reunión, o cuando se acerquen al altar y presenten al Señor alguna ofrenda puesta al fuego, deberán lavarse con agua 21 las manos y los pies para que no mueran. Este será un estatuto perpetuo para Aarón y sus descendientes por todas las generaciones».

El aceite de la unción

22 El Señor habló con Moisés y le dijo: 23 «Toma las siguientes especias finas: quinientos siclos[d] de mirra líquida, doscientos cincuenta siclos[e] de canela aromática y otro tanto igual de caña aromática, 24 quinientos siclos de casia, según el peso oficial[f] del santuario, y un hin[g] de aceite de oliva. 25 Con estos ingredientes harás un aceite, es decir, una mezcla aromática como las de los fabricantes de perfumes. Este será el aceite de la unción sagrada. 26 Con él deberás ungir la Tienda de reunión, el arca con las tablas del pacto, 27 la mesa y todos sus utensilios, el candelabro y sus accesorios, el altar del incienso, 28 el altar de los holocaustos y todos sus utensilios, y el recipiente para el lavado con su pedestal. 29 De este modo, los consagrarás y serán objetos santísimos; cualquier cosa que toque esos objetos quedará también consagrada.

30 »Unge a Aarón y a sus hijos, y conságralos para que me sirvan como sacerdotes. 31 A los israelitas darás las siguientes instrucciones: “De aquí en adelante, este será mi aceite de la unción sagrada. 32 No lo derramen sobre el cuerpo de cualquier hombre ni preparen otro aceite con la misma fórmula. Es un aceite sagrado y así deberán considerarlo. 33 Cualquiera que haga un perfume como este, y cualquiera que unja con él a alguien que no sea sacerdote, será eliminado de su pueblo”».

El incienso

34 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Toma una misma cantidad de resina, ámbar, gálbano e incienso puro, 35 y mezcla todo esto para hacer un incienso aromático, como lo hacen los fabricantes de perfumes. Agrégale sal a la mezcla, para que sea un incienso puro y sagrado. 36 Muele parte de la mezcla hasta hacerla polvo y colócala en la Tienda de reunión, frente al arca con las tablas del pacto, donde yo me reuniré contigo. Este incienso será para ustedes algo muy sagrado, 37 y no deberá hacerse ningún otro incienso con la misma fórmula, pues le pertenece al Señor. Ustedes deberán considerarlo como algo sagrado. 38 Quien haga otro incienso parecido para disfrutar de su fragancia será eliminado de su pueblo».

The Altar of Incense(A)

30 “You shall make (B)an altar to burn incense on; you shall make it of acacia wood. 2 A cubit shall be its length and a cubit its width—it shall be square—and two cubits shall be its height. Its horns shall be of one piece with it. 3 And you shall overlay its top, its sides all around, and its horns with pure gold; and you shall make for it a [a]molding of gold all around. 4 Two gold rings you shall make for it, under the molding on both its sides. You shall place them on its two sides, and they will be holders for the poles with which to bear it. 5 You shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. 6 And you shall put it before the (C)veil that is before the ark of the Testimony, before the (D)mercy seat that is over the Testimony, where I will meet with you.

7 “Aaron shall burn on it (E)sweet incense every morning; when (F)he tends the lamps, he shall burn incense on it. 8 And when Aaron lights the lamps [b]at twilight, he shall burn incense on it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations. 9 You shall not offer (G)strange incense on it, or a burnt offering, or a grain offering; nor shall you pour a drink offering on it. 10 And (H)Aaron shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement; once a year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.”

The Ransom Money

11 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 12 (I)“When you take the census of the children of Israel for their number, then every man shall give (J)a[c] ransom for himself to the Lord, when you number them, that there may be no (K)plague among them when you number them. 13 (L)This is what everyone among those who are numbered shall give: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (M)(a shekel is twenty gerahs). (N)The half-shekel shall be an offering to the Lord. 14 Everyone included among those who are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an [d]offering to the Lord. 15 The (O)rich shall not give more and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when you give an offering to the Lord, to make atonement for yourselves. 16 And you shall take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and (P)shall [e]appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of meeting, that it may be (Q)a memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord, to make atonement for yourselves.”

The Bronze Laver

17 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 18 (R)“You shall also make a [f]laver of bronze, with its base also of bronze, for washing. You shall (S)put it between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. And you shall put water in it, 19 for Aaron and his sons (T)shall wash their hands and their feet in water from it. 20 When they go into the tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the Lord, they shall wash with water, lest they die. 21 So they shall wash their hands and their feet, lest they die. And (U)it shall be a [g]statute forever to them—to him and his descendants throughout their generations.”

The Holy Anointing Oil(V)

22 Moreover the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23 “Also take for yourself (W)quality spices—five hundred shekels of liquid (X)myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling (Y)cane, 24 five hundred shekels of (Z)cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a (AA)hin of olive oil. 25 And you shall make from these a holy anointing oil, an ointment compounded according to the art of the perfumer. It shall be (AB)a holy anointing oil. 26 (AC)With it you shall anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the ark of the Testimony; 27 the table and all its utensils, the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense; 28 the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base. 29 You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy; (AD)whatever touches them must be holy. 30 (AE)And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me as priests.

31 “And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations. 32 It shall not be poured on man’s flesh; nor shall you make any other like it, according to its composition. (AF)It is holy, and it shall be holy to you. 33 (AG)Whoever [h]compounds any like it, or whoever puts any of it on an outsider, (AH)shall be [i]cut off from his people.’ ”

The Incense(AI)

34 And the Lord said to Moses: (AJ)“Take sweet spices, stacte and onycha and galbanum, and pure frankincense with these sweet spices; there shall be equal amounts of each. 35 You shall make of these an incense, a compound (AK)according to the art of the perfumer, salted, pure, and holy. 36 And you shall beat some of it very fine, and put some of it before the Testimony in the tabernacle of meeting (AL)where I will meet with you. (AM)It shall be most holy to you. 37 But as for the incense which you shall make, (AN)you shall not make any for yourselves, according to its [j]composition. It shall be to you holy for the Lord. 38 (AO)Whoever makes any like it, to smell it, he shall be cut off from his people.”

The Altar of Incense(A)

30 “Make an altar(B) of acacia wood for burning incense.(C) 2 It is to be square, a cubit long and a cubit wide, and two cubits high[a]—its horns(D) of one piece with it. 3 Overlay the top and all the sides and the horns with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it.(E) 4 Make two gold rings(F) for the altar below the molding—two on each of the opposite sides—to hold the poles used to carry it. 5 Make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.(G) 6 Put the altar in front of the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law—before the atonement cover(H) that is over the tablets of the covenant law—where I will meet with you.

7 “Aaron must burn fragrant incense(I) on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps. 8 He must burn incense again when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense will burn regularly before the Lord for the generations to come.(J) 9 Do not offer on this altar any other incense(K) or any burnt offering or grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it. 10 Once a year(L) Aaron shall make atonement(M) on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning sin offering[b](N) for the generations to come.(O) It is most holy to the Lord.”

Atonement Money

11 Then the Lord said to Moses, 12 “When you take a census(P) of the Israelites to count them, each one must pay the Lord a ransom(Q) for his life at the time he is counted. Then no plague(R) will come on them when you number them. 13 Each one who crosses over to those already counted is to give a half shekel,[c] according to the sanctuary shekel,(S) which weighs twenty gerahs. This half shekel is an offering to the Lord. 14 All who cross over, those twenty years old or more,(T) are to give an offering to the Lord. 15 The rich are not to give more than a half shekel and the poor are not to give less(U) when you make the offering to the Lord to atone for your lives. 16 Receive the atonement(V) money from the Israelites and use it for the service of the tent of meeting.(W) It will be a memorial(X) for the Israelites before the Lord, making atonement for your lives.”

Basin for Washing

17 Then the Lord said to Moses, 18 “Make a bronze basin,(Y) with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it. 19 Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet(Z) with water(AA) from it. 20 Whenever they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die.(AB) Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting a food offering to the Lord, 21 they shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance(AC) for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come.”(AD)

Anointing Oil

22 Then the Lord said to Moses, 23 “Take the following fine spices:(AE) 500 shekels[d] of liquid myrrh,(AF) half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon,(AG) 250 shekels[e] of fragrant calamus,(AH) 24 500 shekels(AI) of cassia(AJ)—all according to the sanctuary shekel—and a hin[f] of olive oil. 25 Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer.(AK) It will be the sacred anointing oil.(AL) 26 Then use it to anoint(AM) the tent of meeting, the ark of the covenant law, 27 the table and all its articles, the lampstand and its accessories, the altar of incense, 28 the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand. 29 You shall consecrate them(AN) so they will be most holy, and whatever touches them will be holy.(AO)

30 “Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate(AP) them so they may serve me as priests.(AQ) 31 Say to the Israelites, ‘This is to be my sacred anointing oil(AR) for the generations to come.(AS) 32 Do not pour it on anyone else’s body and do not make any other oil using the same formula. It is sacred, and you are to consider it sacred.(AT) 33 Whoever makes perfume like it and puts it on anyone other than a priest must be cut off(AU) from their people.’”

Incense

34 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Take fragrant spices(AV)—gum resin, onycha and galbanum—and pure frankincense, all in equal amounts, 35 and make a fragrant blend of incense,(AW) the work of a perfumer.(AX) It is to be salted and pure and sacred. 36 Grind some of it to powder and place it in front of the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, where I will meet(AY) with you. It shall be most holy(AZ) to you. 37 Do not make any incense with this formula for yourselves; consider it holy(BA) to the Lord. 38 Whoever makes incense like it to enjoy its fragrance must be cut off(BB) from their people.”
