Commissioning the Twelve

9 Summoning the Twelve,^(A) he gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.^{(B) 2} Then he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.^(C)

⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds^(A) to understand^(B) the Scriptures. ⁴⁶ He also said to them, “This is what is written:^[a] The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day,^{(C) 47} and repentance for^[b] forgiveness of sins^(D) will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations,^(E) beginning at Jerusalem.^{(F) 48} You are witnesses^(G) of these things.

⁸ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”^(A)
